It will just be a token thing to give to Make A Wish or something surely? There's no need for another title on a regular basis.
We don't need another full time title at all.
Serious question because I have seen this mentioned so many times over the years, but where are people getting this constant idea about the TV title needing to be introduced? I'm always hearing "They should bring back the TV title and have it defended every week on TV" Which was something that never happened in ECW or WCW. Hardcore title with 24/7 rules would be nice. And honestly I wouldn't mind it. There's a lot of lower card guys who could have some fun with it backstage and even on social media.
I saw a suggestion on Twitter that it could be a Legends title, and it'll be on the line for Goldberg vs. Undertaker. I think that sounds pretty realistic to me, didn't TNA have a Legends title?
I still believe they should introduce some sort of Super Heavyweight title. It would kind of be a "Legends" belt for older guys like Brock, Goldberg, 'Taker, etc. who are still wrestling, but only in a part time capacity. It would only defended at select PPVs to fit in with their schedule. It's a way to give them something to carry around and keep them out of the hair of the guys who are there every week.
I know some were like "Oh the PG era couldn't handle the hardcore element" Bullshit. You go back, 90% of that shit was comedy in the WWF. We're not talking about Big Japan or FMW.
And TNA did have a Legends title which they didn't really do anything with. Booker T won it, vacated it I believe, then AJ Styles who was like 29 at the time won the belt, and then it turned into something else.
The more I think about, the more it seems like it will be a legends title. They clearly want to still involve those part timers who are physically capable of doing so but Vince is stubborn and thinks the only way to make those matches bigger if he can have his way is to put a title on the line. This way it can happen, the storylines for them don't have to be that intricate and you don't have to roll it out very often.
This does make a lot of sense, I just hope it's not the case. I'd much, much rather see a Hardcore title with the 24/7 rules than a Legends title.
I think Vince knows he doesn't need to create a championship for the 2-3 part-timers he uses here and there. Vince, his people, the fans, we all still treat those 2-3 wrestlers as bigger than who is there now. Taker v. Goldberg for example, you don't need a championship for that to come across as a big deal.
But Vince is so fucking weird that I could see him doing something that dumb. He might have lost sight of what the term "spectacle" means because that's all it is when Trips, Taker, maybe Goldberg or Kurt Angle come along 1-2 times a year to throw down.
To be clear, that's working under the impression that Vince is misguided. Trying to think like that, this is the conclusion I came to.
The alternative is more of a hardcore title that tries to tap into the social media aspect. They film a bunch of segments and put them on Twitter and show title changes.
Even with the large number of belts already around, this would be a positive.
At this point the only new title or title change that can help the WWE is Vince changing his from CEO to Consultant and handling over leadership to somebody else

Big thumbs down for me if they make a "Legends" title. It's like, what are the parameters of this?? You have to be a certain age? You have to be a part-timer? What does it mean to be a part-timer, exactly?? It's just too abstract. And why are we building this conceptual barrier between the legends and the other wrestlers?
If it is in fact a Legends title where they're going to trot out the barely capable they better mix in some 40+ year olds like Matt Hardy and John Cena.
It seems like if this is the case, maybe Vince is using this as a way to incorporate part-timers like Undertaker who can barely walk without having it be just a "nostalgia" approach. So here they can go "Well look we have a championship to go with it" But it's pointless. They don't need a belt to beef up this stuff, the draw is the fact we don't see them. Adding a belt is just as bad as putting the Universal title on one of them. Because they will be a big part of the show.
Goldberg for example isn't going to come back for one match a year to defend the Legends title. Undertaker isn't going to creep out of his wheelchair once a year at WrestleMania to defend the Legends championship! Unless they're getting phat paid and I would bet one match from Goldberg costs about as much as 4-5 main roster midcard guys combined salary.
I also want to add....LESS IS MORE. And I don't mean seeing less of the Universal champion or less of the other 45 wrestlers on the main roster so we can see more of that turd Baron Corbin. Finally after 10-20 years it seems like the IC title matters, the US title matters, tag-team championships sort of matter, women's championships are getting serious love. The world title divisions seemed to be on the path of redemption, thank God for Smackdown minus the horror that was Jinder's 6 months at the top.
IDC if it's a hardcore belt, a Legends belt, a women's Intercontinental championship, or the 2nd edition of the Greatest Royal Rumble Ever championship. Focus on what you have.

I don't hate the idea of a Legends title, especially since they have a number of semi-retired wrestlers who only wrestle a few times a year, and it might mean part timers like Lesnar aren't holding the Universal Championship...
A legends title would be underwhelming, while a hardcore title used across both main shows could be fun. Guys like Bobby Roode, Chad Gable, Mojo, etc who really aren't doing anything much could be better utilized with it. I just named Roode since it's the first one that came to mind but the midcarders and below is what I had in mind, infrequently used tag teams, Ascension could be co-hardcore champs.
Right now, I would unify the tag-team titles. They show almost no real consistent love for actual tag-teams and Smackdown was raped and pillaged to the point where our tag-team champions consist of the most over wrestler in 20 years and the worst big man since Giant Gonzales.
And the competition are the B-Team and Heavy Machinery with Rusev and Nakamura sprinkled in there somewhere lol.
I still don't get the appeal of a Legends title. Why does Undertaker need a championship? Are people going to suddenly be MORE interested in that one match that he can barely get through? Lesnar sure as hell isn't holding a championship like that. He's never held any other championship other than the World title. Not even a tag-team title run back in the day.
Who's left? Triple H? Seems like something he'd do lol. Angle? The way they've booked him and the fact he can barely walk I don't see it.
That's why they would have to throw in some younger legends like Cena, Matt Hardy, but damn there aren't very many "legends" that can even go or should go. I'm just thinking about how terrible even Shawn Michaels looked in that tag-team match. Shawn fucking Michaels, the greatest of all time, made me want to watch Brutus the Barber v. The Genius instead of that match.

Vince seems in rough shape these days. He comes out, his eyes are almost always bloodshot to the point where he looks like the gym teacher from Beavis and Butthead (KICK ME IN THE JIMMY!!!!!!!!!!) He can barely cut a promo, and he sounds so fucking unnatural these days. I was watching a Raw back when he was feuding with Shawn Michaels, it was the build to Mania so before the whole God/HBK v. Vince/Shane horseshit. Part of me hopes someone told Vince about the DDT Ironman Heavymetalweight title and we'll end up seeing inanimate objects win it. Shamelessly copying another company sure but would still be more fun than most of the stuff on WWE TV at the moment.
To make it truly seem 24/7, the WWE should upload videos to YouTube or their own site during non-TV days of wrestlers winning the title. They can film them at TV. Or send a camera crew to R-Truth's house where Bobby Roode attacks him taking out the trash and pins him.
Google "DDT Heavymetal championship" They've been doing this shit for awhile. One time here in Des Moines it was defended at some random indy show. Well, Scott Hall was there just making an appearance and he won the championship in like a back room lol.

First, one more meaningless McGuffin that enables more matches without any creativity just shows how bankrupt WWE Creative is. That's really all these secondary and third level titles are there for. But back in the day, were Damien the snake, Matilda the bulldog and Frankie the parrot any different? No, just props to fight around and/or over.
Secondly, if it's the Hardcore Title, just make it Hardcore already. I'm really sick of "terrible beat downs" that are no more than a few punches and stomps but are ever so totally generic and bland in nature. Show some aggressive fake violence already if the heel's beating down the sympathetic babyface.... Let's face it, WWE loves when a hard way like Lars the other night happens so perhaps they should move away from this pg stuff - but won't officially for pc reasons.
finally, I did enjoy the R Truth segment, so perhaps this McGuffin with its 24/7 stipulation actually does provide more none wrestling storylines that lead to matches (of a sort)
I prefer R Truth having something - pretty much anything - to do, so I am fine with giving him more reasons to be on TV.
He knows how to entertain better than most of the generic roster.

This is one of those times when the Champion's Purse needs to be mentioned. The extra money you earn while holding a title is a detail that's lost in WWE. What's the incentive to defend it anywhere at anytime? Jinder's a former World Champion. Why should he give a crap about this belt? If they established that you can make, say, a thousand dollars for every 24 hrs. that you hold the belt, now that's a reason for the jabroni's to want it.

Drake really has been killin it since the 24/7 belt was introduced. I'm sure Vince loves the dude for improvising, and pissing his pants when his tube wouldn't work.
Loved the R-Truth appearance on the E&C podcast. He talked about how much fun they're having with this title, and how he's been pitching a few ideas to get other guys on TV - like the B-Team- he could convince them to be his bodyguards, telling them they aren't interested in this title, they want the tag titles instead. Then in a scrum, one could have a pin attempt on him, only for the other to pull them off - you're not supposed to do that - I was just testing him - keeping him ready for anything. I want them to do this now.
Plus, his story about the first time they did the 7 second dance break - on Truth TV - without telling Daniel Bryan he was going to do it - was gold.
I would like for them to state what the value of having this championship is. If it's "just to be called a champion" for 10 seconds feels cheap. So is Truth being 10 TIME 24/7 CHAMP or something like that. What I would like is for them to state the monetary benefits for holding the title. Say, if you win it, initially you get like a one time 3% bonus or something. Then, the longer you have it, the more money it makes for you. Like the when you double a penny every day for a month thing. But with a cap. So let's say if someone can hold on to it for a couple of days, they don't see too much money. But if they hold on a week, two weeks, etc, then it starts to add up. Have that at a cap also. That would give a reason for having a line of mid carders always running after the damn thing since it means more money readily available if you can snag it.
Then I'd have an upper echelon guy, say like an Orton, just going about his business, then the caravan comes through. He takes out the champ at the time, and the others back off (save maybe one) because it's Orton. Have him with it for a week or two, before he gets jumped and someone takes it off him. He considers trying to get it back, but then goes about his own business again. Maybe even have the one that got it off him say "hey, I was able to beat Randy Orton for this and he was too scared to try and take it back" drawing his ire. Have a mini-feud.
All they have to do it mention the champion's purse. Anyone who who holds a title is making more money, but WWE doesn't talk about that aspect. They usually explain it as them getting on magazine covers, appearing on TV shows, etc. When Maverick lost the title at his wedding, he could have said "Dammit, that was going to pay for our honeymoon!" It's really simple, but ya know, Sports Entertainment and all that. It can't make sense
I don't really need to be spoon fed the value of being a champion when it comes to a goofy-ass comedy title. It really is as simple as "to be a champion", that's why so many dudes are gunning for it as it's the easiest one to win. Do you really need to be told there's a champion's purse or more money earned when you have it or whatever? Seems pretty clear you already know that bit of kayfabe, as do most people, I would think.
They keep mentioning this consummating Drakes marriage. Dumb idea here.
Drakes wife finally lets him come in to do the deed but she has a ref there she thinks because he was never happier than when he won the title she wants to role play that moment for him pinning her but she over powers him and the ref counts the pin she then runs off with the title and that way the women can have a go for a month. Have Carmella beat her and R-truth sad he can't win it because Carmella has it and they are friends so he protects her the same way she has for him.
Drake can win it back in a month due to kung fu trickery later.
Truth and Maverick have owned this division. They have more combined days than anyone else. I think it's time to introduce a third regular contender. The REAL Hornswoggle.

Like many things before it, after a brief period of giving it the spotlight, WWE has lost interest in the 24/7 title. What was once one of the most interesting and fun parts of the show has become an afterthought.
Remember what Foley actually said: The third hour was going to start being dirty and nasty. They were going to change the color sequence of their graphics for that hour and the house lights were going to dim.

Truth has been all sorts of wonderful but yeah the title's getting boring now. They should take the title out back and shoot it, the novelty's faded.

It was to begin with. Truth and Carmella were a great comedy team but I felt it was an odd decision to break them up and then it just got stale after that.
