DISCLAIMER: Alright, so here's the deal.. I have no idea if this game will work. It's something I've looked at online, people have done variations of it but I wanted to put a slant on it and thus, it could be absolute tripe. However, given there isn't a game running at the minute - why not?
Concept: We'll get X number of people (probably should keep it 10-15 for my sanity). Those people will get roles that have been randomly* generated using Excel. The roles will be generated pre-allocation, so I cannot "cheat" and say "oh well this is _____ so s/he shouldn't get ____ role as it's OP for them". The roles generated will go into a QuickTopic forum that only I will have access to (until game end), I'll put Mod Notes and other generic thoughts in it - that way it's timestamped and you know I am not taking the piss.** This also means you won't know the roles as a group ahead of time, when someone is removed from the game perhaps it will come up... perhaps it won't.
* - I'll remove some things like Mafia Jesters.. and things like "Day Watcher" is useless, so, we'll see. I might have to adjust if things go entirely wrong but I'll make a note of it if I do!
** - I mean, there's an element of trust as well... but still.
Rules:
Hold onto your hats. Anything can happen... it'll likely be bollocks.
Usual rules apply.
DAY PHASE:
Lets say 48 hour days and 24 hour nights (to start with, if it's going badly we can speed it up).
There may, or may not, be day powers. If you wish to use a day power you may or may not have, you must let me know before any other events (i.e. lynches) unless your role specifies otherwise.
Voting must be phrased as "Vote: ____" - you don't need to unvote unless you're removing your vote entirely.
Majority needed for a lynch. If a majority is reached and I am not online, I will revert back to that point when I am on - i.e. if you reach a majority, you can't unvote and pretend it never happened!
NIGHT PHASE:
You can post during the night, knock yourselves out.
Night actions and when to use them will be specified in your role, you must submit them or if you do not wish to use them, say so also.
I have the final say with any conflicting night-action-orders (using a list I have).
General Housekeeping:
Everyone has a win condition, hopefully it's achievable.
Some roles will be "useless" to Town, some will be "useless" to Mafia - just go with it, have fun with it! Some roles might be new to you, if they are unusual I will give a brief explanation in the PM.
No posting once you're out.
If you're not in the game, don't post - use the general mafia thread.
Lets say no role-claiming. I toyed with the idea, since you won't know the roles ahead of time... but... lets say no for this game and next time I am dumb enough to do this I might allow it.
Other rules I haven't thought of or listed may still apply. Enquire within.
Don't have a go at me when this falls apart.
For now let's say 15 players... and lets head on into the madness.
Backstory: (aka that rubbish thing I wrote to explain this game in some sort of thematic context)
“And you’re sure this is a good idea?” David was never convinced breaking into the conveniently placed and even more conveniently abandoned military science facility was a good idea, especially not before breakfast!
“David, relax… We’re just here to find where they kept the aliens, virus-ridden-monkies and the remnants of the mysterious probe!” Alex was far more relaxed about this than David was comfortable with.
As Alex strolled ahead, David was a little way behind – checking every corner, peaking through every doorway. He’d heard stories about what’d happened to people before… though these had been dismissed as fantasy David knew about the great beard massacre a few years ago… and the Bank of Rajah scenario that still doesn’t make sense! This is not forgetting about all those fancy mansion dinners that ended with most people dead. The world was a scary place – why the heck would he come here?!
Alex approached a large, metal door with a large padlock blocking any entry, “Perrrrfect!” and with that he reached into his bag and pulled out the smallest of objects, so small David wasn’t sure he was holding anything at all. The padlock clicked and released and Alex tossed aside whatever it was he held.
“What’s in here, Alex? Is this what you wanted to come here for?” the nervousness in his voice amused his friend who by now had jolted open the door to reveal a dimly lit room, inside of which is what looks like a giant lamppost – though no lamppost David had seen before. Numerous lights on panels where still on, despite being conveniently abandoned.
“This, David, is a photo opportunity of a lifetime… do you know what you’re looking at?” Alex turned and David’s blank expression told him he had no idea. “This is the latest in military tech, this was going to be deployed in Paris – ya know, before they b--”
“Yes, I know what happened in Paris – Jesus Christ Alex, this history lesson doesn’t tell me what the hell this is, why is it here and more pressingly: why are we here?! What good is a picture!!”
“You shouldn’t be here....” a voice came from the shadows, startling the two intruders, “… but your presence is not detrimental to my work.”
“What the.. who the… what?!” Alex backs up from the mysterious man, David comes in alongside of him, they circle around the giant device as the man starts to fiddle with switches and knobs.
“I would say I have been waiting for you but however deliciously sinister that would sound – it would be a lie. I have been here trying to fix this machine for some time now and I was about to do a test of it on my animals but… seeing as you’re here.. I guess a human trial wont hurt.”
The man puts his science goggles down and starts a machine whirring. The machine in the centre of the room starts to vibrate and then glow.
“When I flick this switch it will temporarily disable you both and when you awaken – you will have no memory of this event – or any event! No matter though because I am here to help you.”
“Are you insane?” Alex shouts “You’re in the same room, don’t you think you’ll be affected as well??”
The man scoffs, “Of course not – I have these goggles! And also I did the math – it should only be a few feet... or my name is not...” The man flicks the switch causing a burst of light to engulf the room. “Aarrrgghhh… the goggles, they do nothing!”
Alex and David scream, along with the man, and grip their heads as the light engulfs the entire room – and radiates outward.
Night ...0?
No one here knows what’s going on… The few of us that found each other have met up in the church (well, it says that on the sign outside). We asked for each others names but…. No one really knows who they are.
Some of us have identification, we know about Barry – he is from London – not sure what that is… and we’ve got Anne… and Nigel… On the paper in Barry’s pocket some know of a leader... of some sort but we don’t know who she is … maybe it’s Elanor? Well, she looks older in the photo on the paper so maybe not.
To avoid confusion, we’re allocating each other names just based on the alphabet – for ease more than anything.
There's Anne, Barry (did I mention he was from London? My memory.. is so hazy…), Chris, Daniel, Frank, Gail, Henry, Iris, Jack, Kelly, Liam, Martina, Nigel and Otis
None of us know who we really are, or what we used to do.. I guess in the coming days we’ll get some inkling of memory back.. maybe?

Dawn ...1?
I don't know if my memories getting worse or better, I could have sworn there were more people before. I read back and only noticed 15 others but ... I don't know. It seems.. 'off'.
Not that I have much experience, seeing as I can't even remember my mother's name, but I feel uneasy about the situation. Whereas before I had hope for a brighter future, I look at the faces of those in the church and ... Perhaps I'm being silly.
No one remembers anything, still, and perhaps we can coexist long enough to work out why. There was some murmurings of forming a council, a democracy of sorts, to decide on future matters. Everyone seemed on board. I mean, it's not like there's a subset of people conspiring against the greater good, is there?
No Lynch (8) Pablo Stan Badger Psycho Kdestiny JP CWE Kangus BBF (1) Knee Kdestiny (1) Rip
Result: No lynch. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everyone's been sat around and a few people shouted at each other today. I feel like things are starting to fray. So far most people have seemed nice - perhaps once we start to remember something (or anything, would be nice) then people will start to settle down and trust each other again.
The baseless accusations and finger pointing has stopped now, though, and everyone seems keen to get some sleep.. some a little bit more keen than others.. anyway. Tomorrow will be a new day, yes it will.
Night has descended but I can still hear people moving around outside the church as well as closer by... clearly not everyone is in bed and resting...
From what I heard, Psycho was harassed before he could even settle down and shoved in a cupboard by Henry who refused to let him out - just sat outside and listened to him shouting all night! I think he's let him out this morning, I should check!
Kelly was looking for someone but couldn't find them.
Something odd to note: Nigel snuck up on JP sleeping and tied his hands and feet together. JP didn't seem too happy with it, Nigel just walked away laughing and told anyone who'd listen to leave JP tied up.
Not sure if I saw Martina taking an innocent midnight stroll but the look on her face suggests she couldn't find who she was looking for.
The real curious one is Frank, though... He seemed ok, if not lethargic, during the day past - however last night he was in a deep sleep. Apparently attempts to wake him didn't work, instead he just muttered "Aladdin? ... Aladdin?" over and over. It's creepy. I wonder if whatever happened to us all has caused Frank some permanent brain damage. He's still not awake his morning, not really... he's sort of in and out of sleep... He is talking but doesn't really know what Aladdin means...
It appears poor Frank is losing it. People say he's getting "visions", whatever that means, I think he's definitely got something - ya know.... "wrong".
I was wandering into the church and I noticed Frank found sat alone on the front pew, almost looking up at the stained glass and the denominational statuettes. I felt bad for him, we all do after last night. So I thought I'd go say hi.
But he wasn't awake... and I don't think he was asleep... He kept mumbling "Pray" or "Prey" - I mean the words sound the same I guess. I'm not sure if we should be worried or not however I am. Very worried.
I spent about 15 minutes with him but he never "woke up".
When I asked later, it took 3 hours for Frank to come round.
I don't know what happened to us all... but... I wish it would stop now.
There was more shouting today. I kept out of it. Why do people have to fight? Frank looks like hell and people are too busy infighting to realise we might all be in trouble.
I've been meditating as a way of relaxing, it's .... not working.
God I hope I can sleep and nothing goes dramatically and horribly wrong.

Sometimes things don't make sense, this night has been one of those.
You will find, dear reader, that I have constantly added bits in to this as I was not aware of all the facts as I wrote it... I couldn't even think straight then. I still don't have all the answers now!
It started innocently enough, Psycho was sat reading and Jack came over, offering any aid but it seemed Psycho was ok. He did spot Anne hovering in the distance, taking notes, though.
Barry stood over Kdestiny and threatened him, there was no way he was leaving his sight overnight.
What I am about to tell you has been pieced together from various people and I can scarcely believe it. Kelly saw BBF and decided to handcuff him to a railing, I know! It's crazy, where did she even get the cuffs?! That's not even the worst part. When someone went to check on BBF later, they saw Gail running away and a bloody knife on the floor. Chris was already dead before they could break the chains. I mean we've not spoke to Gail.. but .. it doesn't look good, does it?
RIP BBF (Chris) - Town Aligned Arsonist
So you'd think that was the craziest and worst part - it wasn't. Whilst we were all distracted by BBF bleeding out there was a loud explosion a block over. It turns out Nigel had lost his damn mind, he put a gun to Elenor's back. I'm not sure if she laughed or cried but one person I spoke to said she wasn't that scared and goaded him... Nigel was incensed, he pulled the trigger and shot clean through CWE - and unfortunately triggered the explosive vest she was wearing. Both CWE and Virm were blown to pieces.
Oh... and Frank had another "episode". I'm not sure how we're meant to stop them. I thought he was saying "hot toddy" but someone said he was saying "not today, not today, not today"... not sure if Frank is prophetic or not but that's exactly how I feel now.
The mood has turned. It wasn't just everyone shouting at each other today, today people circled round two people. At first, metaphorically, and then literally.
Both Badger and Kneeneighbor protested their innocence however with the actions from last night in everyone's mind this wasn't enough.
Badger eventually talked them round, or rather, Kneeneighbor's lack of talking caused more unrest than Badger rambling.
The mob took Kneeneighbor to the doors of the church, above which were some large wooden beams. A rope was slew over it, on the end a noose which was promptly put around his neck. As he perched on a stool, some of the people looked away whilst some bayed for some form of justice.
"Kneeneighbor you have been deemed a danger to this New World - this is now punishable by death"
And with that the stool was removed and Knee dropped, the rope pulling tight....
**SNAP**
...Knee hits the floor, the rope giving way almost immediately. The crowd gasp and a few rush to help him up.
From inside the church came a echoing words... The voice of a divine being? Or... Perhaps.. More familiar? Frank?
Frank is like two different people - the one that chats candidly about .. well whatever he can remember - and the one that babbles incessantly, words he doesn't understand the meaning to.
I thought last night was strange but... this was the weirdest I think I've ever seen in ... well the three days I can fully remember, anyway.
It started when I walked around the street and the church, where we attend a regular meeting. People were discussing plans and whenever someone decided on something they paused and with a vacant expression they all said the same thing... "It's just not me...".
One person saying it is fine, two would be an odd coincidence... but ... everyone said it. Every. One. And then they all went back to their beds.
By the time I'd got back to the church Frank was slumped on the alter mumbling the same words as the rest.
I want to investigate. I need to know more. Perhaps I will find out the truth tonight. Sometimes to get to the end you have to go back to the beginning... I will be the one who finally solves this mys... No...
Anne rushed around and gathered people together... "It's Frank! It's Frank!"
She wasn't upset but when we arrived I honestly thought perhaps he had died in the night-that-wasn't. As it turns out, he was very much alive... More alive than I'd seen him in days of his lethargy.
He stood on the alter, of his own power. The people all gathered round waiting for him to speak.
Frank closed his eyes and whether it was spiritual or purely a coincidence - the sun shone through the glass windows of the church and illuminated the alter and those around it...
"Lights!" he faintly whispered.
It was dazzling, I guess and everyone shielded their eyes for a moment... that moment changed our fates forever.
I looked around and saw the same faces but there was more now.. More than before, anyway. I remembered beyond the first night.. not very much but enough...
As I looked round at the congregation of people.. I saw an aura.. whether it was the sunspots in my eyes or not.. I saw an aura.
I don't think I was the only one Jack and Otis looked as surprised as me, as did Henry, Martina and Barry. Though most shocked was Anne - who after gathering everyone together, promptly left.
Everyone was so preoccupied no one saw Frank collapse again to the floor.
