It is. I really thought miz making shane do all those high risk moves was gonna lead to miz setting up shane for something that ruined him. Miz then announces his plan and shane makes a comeback.

    Rusev is really trimming down.

Fun SmackDown tonight. They're going overboard with involving the McMahons in the big feuds, but at least Kofi and Becky are getting their shots.

That was a stellar episode of Smackdown in terms of promos. I can't believe a back and forth promo between Orton and Styles was as good as it was. Really good angst and tension delivered by both of them.

Tonight was one of the few times, if ever, where Becky's twitter persona came across in a live promo. It just felt more off the cuff and she seemed more comfortable.

I loved what New Day did before Kofi took the mic. I didn't like the fact that E and Woods did all of the talking on Sunday but I liked how it was staged/framed this time around. What a great callback to have Vince say that Bryan told him that Kofi was a B+ performer.

From a wrestling perspective, Sonya's match with Asuka was much better than Mandy's on Sunday. The four combatants in the US title picture are so good together.

Vince is still unreal when he's invested in a story. That last segment was great.

Orton/AJ segment was so good. Simple story based on a competitiveness between two veterans with very different pasts.

Hoping that gauntlet match next week is one of those classic interwining story matches where the babyface locker room even the odds before the Rowan final boss, where he overcomes Bryan interference to win. Should go an hour too. Earlier in the show have The Bar take out New Day and Orton refuse Styles' challenge, while Truth and Andrade have a reason to stick Joe already. Show should end with Vince sending heels out, their babyface rivals levelling the odds, mass brawl on the outside with heels outnumbering, E and Woods return, Kofi beats Rowan clean. Every other match for 'Mania gains heat, and Kofi moves on.

^^^^^^^^ they need to hire you as a writer. Another quality Smackdown it’s crazy how much Smackdown is than Raw it’s been this way for 3 years plus now.

Is there a chance this miscommunication stuff between Mandy and Sonya is a ruse? Turns out they were in cahoots all along to lull Asuka into a false sense of security and they get a handicap title match at Mania and become joint Champion?

why would they lose their singles match to asuka on purpose?

I will say, Tuesday did make me a little more optimistic about the prospects of Sonya if she were to go solo. That said, the prospects are still hovering around a slightly better version of Dana Brooke (now, not when they were pushing her) in terms of the likelihood of using Sonya.

Something that stuck out to me: if they're really leaning in on Rousey trying to get booed or get heat, Charlotte really doesn't serve that big of a purpose in this feud unless they try to make her the tweener. It's almost like they decided in the past week or two that they're attempting to get two heels out of this and it may result in two tweeners. Rousey is still going to get some cheers along the way but she's portraying a heel (which is basically what Charlotte is doing to some extent).

Also, Vince had a nice, thinly-veiled perceived shot at Cody with the "you've got these two young bucks here around you so you can take the glory while they do all the work" line.

I'm honestly shocked it took so long for the B+ Player comment to be made. I'm glad they did it, though it would have been more impactful to hear it out of Bryan's mouth.

Only real issue with the feud at the moment: It's more Kofi vs. Vince than it is Kofi vs. Bryan, but I imagine they'll amp that up in the two weeks after the gauntlet match. I just wish they could have spun it to where even Vince is more behind Bryan than he is Kofi, to really show how much of a hypocrite Bryan has become.

Minor complaints, though. I'm digging what we're getting as it is.

Like I said, to trick her into a false sense of security. She'd be more willing to accept a handicap match if she knows she can beat them both one on one and thinks they're not a united front.

Yeah, the quality of programming is really embarrassing. It seems like they don't know how to prioritize even midcard feuds while the Orton/Styles interactions at least have me interested. They do far more in 2 hours than RAW does with 3. Sad.

Just caught up on Smackdown, so so good. Mandy screwed Sonya accidentally on purpose. The Orton/AJ segment was fantastic, lots of zingers back and forth showcasting Orton's "anty-indy" gimmick and that last segment was just fantastic with Kofi sticking up for himself. Give that man the belt!

Yep I agree with all here. Hopefully when the match is made Bryan starts ramming the B plus comment down our throats.

It's almost like they're making this up as they go along. Oh, wait...This feud has gotten so unnecessarily complicated. Charlotte would have been better served in a re-match with Asuka.

If this is the case, then it makes me allot more interested in a potential 3-way.

I would have liked AJ to make a point about Orton dropping the title to a jobber, and it took AJ to beat that jobber and bring prestige back to the title.

Orton vs Styles reminds me of the Bryan vs Miz feud. I wish they would have started to build this feud when AJ made his debut. I remember people posting in the mid 2000s as this being one of their cross promotion dream match.

There is some similarity with Miz/Orton looking down on the indy scene, but I think one big difference with Miz/Bryan was Miz doing what it takes to win but Bryan said he was keeping clean and letting his superior in-ring style do the talking. Orton/Styles haven't got that far yet but there's always room for scope and there's weeks left tobuild. Orton being ruthless and trying to do what it takes yet Styles tries to bring the fight cleanly. I hope there's at least an Orton punt tease at Mania even though they won't actually do it.

Funny how Miz and Bryan have completely flipped sides but I hope they have Miz keep his angst intact and they don't have him start pandering to fans alk of a sudden.

Its a matter of degree. Miz could probably pull off the cheap pop of mentioning the city name, but I think he's such a student of the business, he will know where to draw the line - and he may even tease crossing it by reverting to his old character. After Mania, will he start calling himself "the New Miz" to make fun of the New Daniel Bryan?

Will he start caring about other faces? Will we get a Miz/Kofi/AJ vs. DB/Shane/Orton tag match on the blowoff show before Mania?

Miz has failed every time as a babyface. Shane is fucking hard to hate. Stupid move imo.

Russo shock and awe booking style. Turn the guy people don't want to see heel but it'll shock them! Bro

I liked Shane as a heel way back when. I think he can probably pull it off.

More afraid of what Miz can accomplish as a face. There's a right way to do it but...

To be fair, he only had one run as a face, and Miz was still finding himself at the time. As long as he doesn't become a baby-kisser, it could be good.

I had zero interest in Shane/Miz but the unexpected twist of Shane being the one to turn has changed that to slightly above zero interest. I kind of care now. Heel Shane could be worthwhile to me but I will admit face Miz is never a good thing, so we'll see how it goes.

    This is exactly the issue.

Being a loudmouth and a bit of a nozzle is intrinsic to being The Miz. You can't take that away from him. He still need to do his schtick. He needs to say "when my hand goes up your mouth goes shut" only to the heel not the crowd. He needs to keep walking down the ramp like he owns the place. You take much of that away from him and you aren't left with a lot. He doesn't fit well into a standard babyface mold. At least not that we've ever seen.

Basically do what he's done to get over as a heel but do it to heels now.
