14M/yr a piece for Landon Collins and Tyrann Mathieu ... wow.

Good for them in the 'make yo paper' respect, but I personally hope the market falls off a cliff quickly as we make a run at Adrian Amos to pair with Justin Reid.

Also wanted to see a run made at Trent Brown, but the fucking schizophrenic RaIdErS had ton get involved. Brown @ 66M/4yrs ... , ok.

I love the NFL offseason. The free agent floodgates being opened is always such a fun time. I'm happy my team stayed away from the high priced FAs this year, and look forward to them scooping up some cheaper guys and working the trade market.

The Lions seem to be the team that's gone in the most so far. Matt Patricia probably can't afford another losing season (and I don't think that's right, head coaches should get more than 2 years to set up their system but that's the reality especially given that his players haven't been too fond of him).

I never got the Jackson hate here. He was a stud for us last year.

Bridgewater is re-signing in New Orleans despite a bigger offer from Miami. Interesting decision to choose a backup role over a potential starter position and more money. Perhaps he thinks this is Brees's last year and he'll inherit a Super Bowl contending team in 2020?

It tells me that the QB market was pretty lukewarm this year. To me, it's not a terrible decision on his side. I get the counterargument but this is a reasonable move for him.

Probably doesn't want to have to face Tom Brady twice a year. As a backup to Brees, he will make a lot of money doing nothing.

Miami is going for a QB either this draft or next. If he thinks he will get to follow Bree’s as QB in NO makes sense. With the Dolphins he’d just be a stop gap.

Will Grier is going to be a keeper at QB from this draft.

    Write it down.

Actually like Grier a fair bit. And far more so than the 1st round discussion surrounding Drew Lock.

I like what the Packers have done so far. Addressed needs so that their draft will not be dictated by needs and they cam draft best player available.

Cleveland looking at the chaos in Pittsburgh and going all in this year. Looking forward to seeing Baker work with him and Landry.

Browns should have a better offense now, with Baker leading, and Chubb at RB, with OBJ and Jarvis Landry.

For sure they are. Surely favourites to win the division now.

    - - - Updated - - -

    2019 Browns Offense:

    • QB Baker Mayfield
    • RB Kareem Hunt
    • RB Nick Chubb
    • RB Duke Johnson
    • WR Odell Beckham Jr
    • WR Jarvis Landry
    • TE David Njoku

    That’s fire.

Big time O line too and obviously their young defense has huge potential with Garrett and Ward and they added Vernon also from the Giants opposite Garrett making a scary pass rush

Giants IMO are one of the worst run teams in football over the last several years and that downward slope all started with the contract they gave Vernon

    So..

Odell Beckham = #17, #95, and a good, young SS prospect.

Antonio Brown = #66, #141, plus eating $21M in dead money.

    yup, sounds about right..

I think they’ll sort their O-Line out in the draft and fill the holes. They will stick with Manning next season and tank, then get Tua in the draft.

God how fast things turn around in the NFL can be astounding.

Just a couple seasons ago the Browns had no offense to speak of. Now they're trotting out one of the nastiest looking offenses in the league. Unreal.

Browns absolutely striking while the iron is hot, specifically due to the fact their QB could be legit and is on a rookie deal. Gotta make the most of that cap room while you can.

Well one is 26 years old and the other is 31. Brown demanded a trade and Beckham did not. I think there are a few differences here. The Giants are eating 16 million for Beckham

It's a horrible return. A first which is outside of the top 15 is basically a 50/50 chance that player becomes a starter, the worse of the two 3rd rounders from Cleveland(probably a depth player), and a safety who hasn't played up to his potential yet(worse than Landon Collins). That is not a great haul for a top 3 receiver. Amari Cooper netted the Raiders number 22 overall. a 3rd rounder and a box safety should not move the needle for the difference between the two players.

You could argue they are trying to rebuild but it's not a rebuild when you are paying a 38 yr old qb 25 million and you don't draft a rb number 2. By the time the Giants are ready to compete, Barkley is going to be up for a new deal.

Out of curiosity, how much would your outlook change if they traded the first they just got to Arizona for Rosen?

agreed. also the Browns have Odell locked up for very reasonable money ($17 million this year then roughly $15 mil a year for the 4 years after that) thanks to the extension he signed with the Giants. that is a great long-term contract for them given the caliber of the player. whereas Amari Cooper is due for a new contract at the end of this year so the Cowboys will have to pony up to keep him.

that being said, it's not an awful return to get a 1st, 3rd and a player. the dumb part was giving him that extension last year. they should have traded him last year and gotten a similar return. they started the tank a year later than they should have and while we'll never know how the cookies would have crumbled if they did that, it could set them back a lot.

but I guess it's better to correct a mistake now rather than keep him for another season when they have little chance of contending and he could become a malcontent.

His value is down. So trading number 17 for him wouldn't be a smart move. At this point, they almost have to trade their firsts to move up for one of the qbs. Now if they leave this draft without a future qb, then they are clearly trying to win 2-3 games and go for a qb they think will be there the following year. Dangerous move.

the biggest malpractice of this whole thing is the GM thought the Giants were a contender last year by drafting barkley, keeping Manning, and extending beckham. Now it set them back a couple years and still have no qb.

Value is down, sure, but it could change prior to the draft. Even if that’s the case, trade a second and one of their multiple fifths. The Giants are going to have 12 picks in the draft. They’ve got capital. My main point was pushing back on your concern about the danger of waiting a year when you could find a way to get Rosen.

Ok fair point about getting Rosen. But now he is in his second year and he will again be in a bad situation. basically he is going to be evaluated after two wasted years on bad teams. will the giants be releasing Manning in this scenario?

Either or. They’ve already shown they’re willing to eat $16 million. What’s another 23? They’re a bad franchise. Bad franchises do stupid things. Also, my main point about Rosen a week or two ago is that he’s kind of SOL. He was in a bad spot and bad teams are likely going to be going after him. It’s not like the Patriots are going to offer something for him to be the heir to the throne.

You could argue they are trying to rebuild but it's not a rebuild when you are paying a 38 yr old qb 25 million and you don't draft a rb number 2. By the time the Giants are ready to compete, Barkley is going to be up for a new deal.
Peppers has shown signs of improving at safety. He's nothing special but he's developing into a solid safety.

    Silver lining my dude.

As an Eagles fan, I am happy the Giants traded Beckham away lol. I just think it was a bad return and they are directionless right now.

Yeah actually now it's been nearly 24 hours and I have ready more about it wasn't the best return, wouldn't say it was terrible i would say an ok return. I had Browns pick in my head as top ten.

Yes ita fully rebuild and they'll fix their holes this season like the o-line and then next season get the QB they want.

They were never a threat for few years anyway even if they kept OBJ.

Going to be interesting Giants & us tanking and who is willing to take all the shit in doing so. Think Flores can get away with it being his first season as head coach.

Bolden back to Patriots guess they didn’t want him scoring any more TD’s against them.

I love Bolden. Special teams stud, locker room glue guy, backup RB in case you have multiple injuries. Home where he belongs.

Also I’m very happy they re-signed Phillip Dorsett (fantasy sleeper) and Jason McCourty.

I think the Giants might use the OBJ trade to move up in the draft. Could use their two 1st round picks to move up to first pick, particularly if they're big on Murray. The Cardinals could roll with Rosen for a season to see what they've got, and a 6 and 17 should still deliver them quality players. I definitely see that 17 being used to move up to get one of the top two OT's, and think they draft a QB. Would they be happy with Haskins? A QB to learn under Eli and a starting O line guy are musts. They should be able to get a decent WR in the second round with the 37th pick. It's a write off season but there's no reason why they can't work with the ammunition they have to set themselves up for next.

The Raiders are the team to watch in the draft. 4 of the top 35 picks. They should be able to get some good loot. Could be a Colts-esque turnaround there possibly if they draft well.

I'd say just as important as Indy's collective draft haul was the fact that Andrew Luck came back and was Andrew Luck. On his best day, it's hard to imagine Derek Carr is Andrew Luck.

The Giants signed Golden Tate for some reason. Barkley, Tate, Shepard, Engram.... Eli is going to have to stink extra hard this year if they want to tank.

Can't imagine Eli is going to have to throw deeper than 10-15 yards for his passes this year.

yes they will.... but they won't blow enough for a top 3 pick, I don't think. I mean they can still strive for that but they're making it hard on themselves.

Something that I read about the Giants from last year, they were the highest scoring offense in the NFC East. I do not think they are as far off as everyone thinks they were.

Congrats to the NFL for giving Kareem Hunt an 8 game suspension in a timely manner and having the player accept it without appeal. This is how these things should go.

They won 8 games in two years and just got rid of their best player on each side of the ball. Oh and their qb is older and still stinks.

And so Tannehill and a 6tth is gone to the Titans for a 4th and a 7th.

As the back-up to Mariota he will likely be seeing some play, unless their annual injuries sync up. Good luck R_P.

I guess they're going to draft a QB this year and not try for Tua next year. Hopefully they don't trade up for it. I would have been happy with Murray falling to 13 (which is never going to happen now) but trading up for a non-Murray just doesn't excite me. I'll admit I don't know much about the other QBs in this draft though so will reserve judgment.

Yeah shame about RT, never got the proper protection around him, never complained and took some hits.He was a classy guy to the end. We did well for getting what we did considering he was days from being cut. Yeah probaly get about 5 games maybe more depends on Mariota being injury prone.

I think were going all out to get Tua next.

Our draft picks next year and plus $120 million in salary cap space.

Is there anything in particular about Haskins' game that you don't like?

    Drew Lock is shit.

Daniel Jones is worth a look though.

I will be honest mate I have not really followed his game and never really seen him at Ohio State. I followed Murray a lot and watched him lots of times. Don't get me wrong if Haskins falls to 13 which I doubt as I've read he is a good talent, then yes get him.

Recent drafts have shown that talented qbs don't fall. Teams go up and get them.

    Wentz
    Goff
    Watson
    Trubisky
    Mahomes
    Darnold

There's no sitting around and hoping a guy falls in your lap nowadays.

And I'd say that almost unanimously those front offices are content with what they gave up to get their guy.

    It's the Giants, can't say I'm surprised.

It's akin to Elway being tied to Drew Lock. Like ya, figures.

    Anything in particular?

Biggest question mark I can see so far around Dwayne is his apparent need for a clean pocket. Not to say he's David Carr-like in traffic or that he can't learn/grow into dealing with pressure effectively, but right now it's a bit up in the air. That and he can telegraph throws a bit more than you'd prefer at the pro level. But again, not a humongous red flag, just an area of concern/work. Other than that though he's accurate, more than enough arm, handles progressions well, poised in the pocket (including climbing), has competed/excelled at the highest possible levels, shows anticipation of throws/routes, team leader..

Just trying to see how his cons could in any way outweigh his pros.

Least it won't be a boring tank season with Blake Bortles and with Ryan Fitzmagic he'll throw 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in the same game.

Sadly he's probably an upgrade from what we've had as a back up in recent years. Still not exactly stoked over the move though. A lot of fans around here are thinking this will mean a QB competition but that's idiotic. This is Mariota's put up or don't get paid up year. The Titans have to see what he can do with an (hopefully) improved o-line that might actually keep Marcus from getting pin balled all over the the place.

He will defo push Marcus Mariota all the way if there is a QB competition, But if not he will be the best back up QB in the league.

Going to be funny when Fitzmagic completes his AFC East teams when he takes over Brady in 2021.

Fitzmagic will retire before Brady does.

Belichick could take Fitz, tell everyone that they're tanking, then go 11-5 and clinch a first round bye.

    Total exaggeration.

    They'd go 10-6.

My son is due Aug 1. We committed to a name last night so this morning I entered him on the Packers Season Ticket Waiting List.

Robert Kraft has been offered a deal - if he admits he would have been found guilty, then they let me go. Billionaire privileges.

I don’t see it that way. For a misdemeanor offense for a guy without a criminal past, this was the expected outcome. 100 hours community service, take a class on prostitution, pay a fine (this is all part of the deal he’s reportedly been offered). Pretty much exactly the punishment that would be standard for this low level offense. The part that may be unusual is that they’re asking the Johns to say something to effect that they reviewed the evidence and admit they would have been found guilty. It’s possible this is standard practice in this Florida courtroom... but either way it’s something Kraft almost certainly won’t agree to. So he will probably get a better deal than this (and maybe that’s where those fancy lawyers help out) or fight it to the end and see what happens.

Anyway it seems like he has a right to be pissed here in the sense that his name was put in a headline with sex trafficking and not only were the two women he was serviced by 30-50 year olds who are US citizens and licensed massage therapists but there have also been zero sex trafficking charges filed so far.

I’m just so so so happy we didn’t sign Blake Bortles.

Haha amazing. When will he be offered one? Around 40 years of age maybe?

Sounds about right. The web site says the list is about 100,000 people long at this point. I do however have my name on the list for 4 tickets about 25,000 spots away. (I added myself when I was in 6th grade) My dad also is on the list 2 spots ahead of me for 4 tickets. I only singed my son up for 2 because I figured I already have 2 kids. They can each take 2 of my 4 and then all three kids end up with 2 tickets when I am gone.

I went on Liverpool FC season ticket list back in 2000, when I was 20. I finally got offered one in 2017 but us making the capacity of the stadium bigger sure helped.

Clay Matthews has signed a two year deal with the Los Angeles Rams. Never ever thought he’d play for another team.

Gronk finishes his career with an unreal 15.1 yards per reception as a tight end. For comparison:

    Desean Jackson 17.4
    Randy Moss 15.5
    Julio Jones 15.4
    Jerry Rice 14.8
    Tyreek Hill 14.6
    Odell Beckham 14.0
    Antonio Brown 13.4

Gronk should be a first ballot HOF'er. As a Pats fan, I have mixed emotions, because he's so talented, I want to see him play more. But I like the guy, even if he can be a bit crude at times, and I want him to be able to enjoy the rest of his life, and the toll on a body his size is unreal. Nice to see a guy retire on top, on his terms.

Even without him, the Pats still have to be considered AFC East favorites.
