Mahomes should put up crazy numbers again this year with with Kelce and Hill to throw to. I don't see a slump but I do expect one of his no-look throws will end up in an interception at some point.

I changed my MVP pick in the predictions contest to Goff though. Goff gonna put up similar numbers IMO. Woods-Cooks-Cupp is too good.

If he puts up 85% of what he did last year in a return to the mean kind of way with some of his gunslinging biting him in the butt we're still in mvp territory statistically.

The pieces around him are still there, Andy Reid is still there, his ridiculous talent is still there, and he's only that much more seasoned. And he's not a dingdong kid.

    @AdamSchefter

The Next Chapter: Antonio Brown and GM Mike Mayock got into it Wednesday, and the team is now planning to suspend its star wide receiver, league sources tell ESPN.
    Lovely.

They may look into options to void his contract entirely as well.

I'm sure the Patriots are hoping that mess plays out to the extent of voiding the contract.

I've seen people speculating about that but I don't even think the Patriots would want him. These are next-level dramatics, maybe the most diva shit the league has ever seen.

I would imagine it's them or he's probably (Le'Veon) Belling the season away.

He should also introduce a line of see through uniforms. It would be so empowering.

I didn't know what you were talking about, but I have since seen it.

    It's pretty cheesy symbolism

I don't know that it's entirely symbolism. They're literally using software to design a helmet, etc.

    It's patently ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure you're taking this too literally. It's not a real helmet for use in football games. It was designed by an artist not a helmet manufacturer.

Perhaps, but then it's going to an awful lot of trouble to just wax poetic for a few minutes and mean ultimately sqaudoosh.

Not to mention Maverick Carter actually say that hopefully one day we'll see glass helmets on the field.

Glad to get a chuckle though out of Saquon Barkley looking like a goober modeling this thing while trying to look serious.

As an outsider looking in, I understand the importance of college football and why where they "grew up" is relevant... but why do some of them emphasise THE when saying their college? Are their multiple Universities of Kentucky but only one that is THE University of Kentucky? Is one called University of and the other called The University of?

Interesting opening drives from both teams. Having not watched much last year because of kick off times and work, looks like I might get more under the belt this year being unemployed.

It really has been a while since I watched football. When did the Bears stop being bad? I assume 49ers and Browns are still terrible?

With some other moves to get help at wideout and if Nick Bosa can arrive healthy and ready.

They've got some pieces for Baby Shanny to compete with.

    Bears offense looks garbage.

I really really don't like Paterson on their offense, he's not good enough to be a receiver or in the backfield

Patterson was used so perfectly by the Pats as a gadget player and kick returner but yea they only used him as a running back when they had RB injuries that gave them no choice. He filled in admirably in that role but it wasn't something they did from game 1 like the Bears just did. As a receiver, it was mainly screens and end arounds but he would surprise you with a nice route and downfield catch every now and then. He can bring it in when he gets open.

But yea, KR/gadget/WR3 or WR4 is his thing. Don't try to turn him into a WR2 or RB3. He was loved here but it would seem the Pats didn't value him enough to sign him to $4+ million/year.

Can't say how much I adore that dbs are allowed to shove dudes out of bounds on a catch attempt anymore. That whole trying to judge where they would have come down thing was preposterous.

He can't make a throw more than 8 yards.

Hopefully they start rethinking things because he's not the answer. Their entire roster is solid. He's just too damn inconsistent.

    Also, their DBs are overrated.

I agree ... but I suppose they just didn't feel that gap was that many millions longer term different

I'm also not familiar at all with who/when type of contract situations the Bears are facing any time soon.

All I know is that Amos is a natural at finding the ball and making qbs think different about where they're headed with it.

He's very good at run support too, which I feel they can use more. They don't really need two center field safetys which is what they have now.

That's fair. Always thought HaHa was solid in support if not aggressively spectacular.

But I'm also quick to lose track of these guys after the draft if they don't play for or are being sized up to play for the texans.

Bottom line it sucks massive dick to lose a guy worth a shit for seemingly no good reason. I feel ya ... and thinking of Glover Quinn, Brandon Brooks, AJ Bouye in particular.

Mitchell did not look good at all. I wonder if it was just rust, the Packers Defense, or if he is just mediocre. Packers offense didn't look good either outside of the one drive. Bears defensive line was all over them.

NBC ratings were 15, while CBS/ABC/Fox had combined 5. It was close enough that it was a one possession score the entire game, which helped fans starved for football stick around.

When the Bears scored a FG early - the place was going nuts - have they finally found a capable kicker?

The best thing I watched last night was Brett Favre meeting Bill Swerski's Bears Superfans - https://sports.nbcsports.com/2019/09...s-vs-da-bears/

Mitch missed some wide open guys 3-4 times and probably should've had at least 3 interceptions on some of the bone head decisions he made.

Their defense was good, but anyone could tell you that forcing a ball into double coverage into any defense isn't really a good idea.

Chicago looks like they're going to look volatile on offense all season long. I'm not looking at it in a Week 1 sense because they barely played in the preseason and they faced a defense that was improved. From a macro sense, it seems like they've got three competent backs but that can lead to sluggish play because you don't have a consistent rhythm because you're rotating them. Trubisky is going to be inconsistent, again. Buckle up, Bears fans.

I'm sure there's signs of optimism about Green Bay's defense but that wasn't the strongest test you'd hope for so while it could be improved, the degree of it will have to play out for a while. I'm not really ready to judge their offense because the Bears are clearly a beast.

Even if the Packers D is just better than before and not world beaters Packers fans will take it.

    Woooooo!

Outside of that TD drive the Packers offense looked terrible. But hopefully they start to gel some more in the coming weeks. Their D though! Their off-season signings in Preston and Za'darius Smith + Adrian Amos all look like great additions, and first round Safety Darnell Savage was awesome as well.

Amos picking off Mitch in the endzone was so poetic after seeing Bears fans rip him all off-season and say HHCD is better for a fraction of the price.

I have brown in 2 of my 4 fantasy leagues.

Praying he gets his release and a team like new England or Green Bay picks him up.

Or maybe the Browns pick him up and the world burns.

Agreed. Teams would sign him for low risk low guaranteed money but he won’t take that. I think he sits out.

Dude wanted to play for another contender when he was leaving Pitt. They wouldn't trade him to a decent team, thought maybe Oakland was the spot... Turns out Carr was in fact a turd so he froze his feet off and called the gm a cracker.

    Now he's a patriot.

    What a fucking ride.

I really don't see Brown getting suspended.

Gordon on the other hand... Ya probably.

But Gronk will unretire then and you'll be fine.

I doubt this was an elaborate plan once he realized the situation in Oakland was bad but it certainly gives off vibes of it. He kept cranking things up without very little down time. If he felt it was a bad situation, he was going to try to burn his way out. There was resistance and he dialed up the chaos. If he wants money, he will be a Good Samaritan in New England.

    I know I know.

The amazing wonderful Browns lost this game. The Titans didn't win it. Blah blah.

But we're going 10 and 6 this year damn it. Just like I said.

And yet we'll probably lose to the bills by the same score.

Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith are a genuinely fun LB tandem to watch. So goddamn reactive and in sync.

That's a real shame. I'd have liked to see what he could do, I suspect not terrible and also not amazing.
