I enjoyed that. Not their best episode, but they kept their storylines moving and had a couple hot angles.
A lot of people have been complaining that AEW feels like a WCW Nitro.
Tonight it felt more like an Attitude Era RAW. Just lots of crazy shit happening, not a ton of in-ring stuff that mattered, but the big stars felt like big stars and everybody had something going on.

It felt like the first hour was the least interesting hour Dynamite has had since the show started. I couldn't get into very much of that stuff. It also felt like everything in that hour was longer than it needed to be. Every single aspect of it.
Second hour was much, much better.
So who had the better show this week? AEW or NXT?
The good thing is, neither of them are bad.
It depends on what you're ultimately looking for. The atmosphere is clearly more engaging with AEW and that generally helps lift the level of anything that is happening. I think NXT is now being subvert with the proclamation of Broadway. They're fine embracing their smaller scale feel right now but it's probably changing at the end of the year. Production quality is pretty much on par for both brands. Commentary is just up to your preference. I personally think the in-ring work has been markedly better and much more consistent on NXT. Promos or non in-ring segments are favoring AEW but I think the gap is narrowing. The women's division for NXT is absolutely throttling AEW. It's not even close. Tag divisions are pretty close but depends on what your cup of tea is. Probably the same can be said for the top of the card, too. The midcard and floating characters are much more "proven" when it comes to NXT.
I'd rank things as:
NXT with AEW not far behind
A seismic drop down to Smackdown (with the scale holding but potentially sliding down)
Double that drop and you're at Raw.
I'm hoping AEW gets more top-tier talent eventually because the segment with Hager and the other guy I'm forgetting when they attacked Rhodes... just didn't feel as impactful as it should. It was like having the Mean Street Posse do your dirty work. I'm sure they're still figuring out some of the roster, but like all shows, some things were great and others felt flat. Can't speak for RAW since I watched so little this week, maybe about a half hour.
NXT just feels like everything clicks, not sure if it's the arena size, the quality of the roster - Watched some of Grimes when Trevor Lee in Impact and never thought too highly of him but he's impressed me. Just seems like there is something to everyone, the way they present them you don't really feel like they have many jobber quality names out there.
I about lost it when Jericho pulled out the cigar.
Dustin and Swagger's involvement in the Jericho/Cody feud has been great.
Moxley's promo was fire. He is a star in this company.

It's not ok that a wrestling show says "Well we had lower ratings because of this and that" The goal should be to get people to stop watching that other crap and come to you.

it's not like they have to run joint shows and be joined at the hip or anything. there's just no good reason for njpw not to work with guys like omega the same way they'll work with guys like moxley and jericho, to bring him in for big shows and matches now and then. omega has more value for them than either jericho or moxley.

trent/pac was a great opener. loved the heat for the OC kick spot.
that cody promo was amazing. it's so cool hearing genuine emotion and issues being addressed. I imagine this is a long game and cody loses the title match and we get a long term story about him getting the opportunity to fight for the belt back. also teasing an inner circle/elite war games match, my god, yes please.
the dark order are actually noticeable less lame with uno and the geek minions wearing shirts. still very lame, but less.

Enjoyed Pac v Trent, was a good match.. Kinda hope Trent gets moved away from the tag team and goes solo. The Cassidy spot was funny but not sure how long he can go as a comedy character before it gets boring. Weird botch for the ending, was Pac meant to lift trent uo to put him in a submission or did the ref botch. Was weird.
If Private Party learn how to tell a story instead of just being spot monkeys they have great potential. They do some amazing spots which makes their matches entertaining but they almost do too much. Dig their finisher.
Womens match was better, last two weeks have been an improvenent. Seen as though Shanna was in both Im giving her the credit.
Spears match was what it was but Im liking Spears heel work in the ring, stiffer approach, more aggressive. Hes massively improved from. WWE with that extra freedom.
Codys promo was quality, strange angle tongo down but I guess I dunnonwhere they are going with it which is good. I mean we all know Cody will be in the title picture again even if he loses but its intriguing at least. Its too early for him to win it though imo
Loved the Inner Circle Promo. Hagar just standing saying nothing and Jericho, the youngest ever AEW champion.
Last match and fall out was great for a fall out show, like all the feuds intertwining. Love the BROOM OF DOOM, its so bad, its great.
Loved the wild finish, loved the Cody promo, loved the Jericho package, Shawn Spears is so much more interesting, as is Pac. Pumped for tomorrow night.
And I never thought I'd warm to Tony Schiavone, but he's been great.

I kind of want to see Jericho & Guevara to win the Tag Belts, only to lose them to Cody & Dustin. With Cody pinning Jericho.

PAC vs. page rematch announced for dynamite. very much not happy about them picking up one of the worst WWE tendencies: PPV rematch the very next episode of TV, making the PPV match seem meaningless.
on the plus side, SCU vs. jericho and sammy for the tag titles sounds really cool.
ugh, not a fan of running pac/page again. that kinda booking is one of the things that tired me out the most about wwe's programming. hopefully there's a reason for it.
im for that tag title match, though i wonder why they wouldnt put PnP in that spot, since theyre an actual tag team and just beat the bucks. i imagine maybe some angle shenanigans around jericho or sammy is there to take the pinfall, and they arent ready for PnP to take a loss.
Regarding Pac/Page, do you think it could have to do with the nearness in ratings last week for AEW and NXT? Maybe they want to pull out all the stops to ensure victory this week. Should be a good match regardless of the reasons.

Coyple of feuds continued but some fresh ones in there. Id like Dustin to get a title shot, hes earned it and barely ever gotten one in all his years in the main corps.
Theres not a lot for Moxley or Omega to do so Id just continue their feud but add Pac into it fully.
After that you can switch things up a but but think the two tag feuds have more life in them and Id like to see them just pull the trigger on Kong and put Riho out of her misery.
Moxley/Omega should not continue. After a fight like that, with such a decisive end, it's time for both to move on, I think. Only real argument I can see is that Moxley wants the official win over Omega, not a spiritual victory. But I think it's smarter to keep them apart and let Moxley keep rising while Omega can slowly bounce back.
I wonder if they'd want to splinter off to Pac/Moxley in a true feud and Omega/Page (if the teasing they've been doing on BTE with Page is worth anything).
Omega/Page under the auspices of Page thinking Omega might have taken things too far against Moxley and Omega snapping and going full heel on one of his buddies and eventually challenging him to a "real" wrestling match to show he "still has it".
PAC/Moxley, with Moxley winning a clean "wrestling feud" that doesn't delve into garbage/hardcore bullshit. Eventually, we'd get Jericho/Moxley for the AEW Title down the line.
Also, can we dump Riho, have Mercedes Martinez come in, eat her alive, and win the Women's Title? Martinez/Dr. Britt Dentist sounds pretty damn good to me. Instead, she's being wasted on AEW Dark against Sadie Gibbs and Allie with a green partner in one of most Botch-A-Mania matches I've seen this side of a local indie show.
If they think Pac v. Page=boost in ratings, then they're delusional. I'm either mentally blocking it out or it's not happening, but where are the fans of Adam Page?
My son was telling me that the original plans for the World title was to have Pac v. Page and Page go over. But Pac refused to do the job then, so they switched it to Jericho v. Page. Whether that's true, IDK. But Adam Page is fucking stale.
