If it were me, I'd have the Joker be Steve Maclin since AEW loves beating Impact talent.

For the ladies, I'd have it be Mia Yim and she would defeat Britt. Leading to an Adam Cole vs Keith Lee program where Keith Lee finally does something interesting in AEW. Adam Cole can lose to a hug again IDC

Done for now I meant. Certainly not gonna be the Joker which was what I was laughing at.

If he did come back to wrestling, I think in AEW he would get lost in the shuffle more than if he went back to NXT/WWE.

Yeah, about the only thing you could do is split up Undisputed Elite and put Adam Cole and Red Dragon with Britt Baker and then The Bucks with Gargano and Lerae. They just started this Undisputed Elite thing though and I think the payoff is Omega coming back.

Seems likely for next week. And the pop from HOOK's music hitting when Danhausen is being beat down will throw Nash into a fit that would make Jim Cornette jealous. I hope he doesn't have a heart attack.

Jonah's done with Impact, I hope he's not coming to AEW. I've just never liked him. I'd rather see Jeff Cobb again.

I'm curious to know the win-loss record of guys from outside AEW (iMPACT, NJPW etc) against AEW wrestlers on Dynamite, Rampage and PPV. Not including something insignificant like (hypothetically) Minoru Suzuki defeating Peter Avalon on Dark or Elevation. I haven't followed AEW regularly in quite a long time so my knowledge is a bit off. I mostly catch some of the highlights on Youtube these days.

Sorry sweetheart I'm still alive. Unlike you I don't get all worked up over dudes who suck and wear make up.

So you hated the Ultimate Warrior? I refuse to believe it.

    Everyone has a guilty pleasure.

Some should just feel a lot guiltier than others.

Funny story about Warrior. When I was a kid I was a member of the WWF Fan Club. So you'd get the merch mag sent to your house. My mom asks me who my favorite wrestler is, I said Hogan (This was 1989-1990)

So she orders me a poster and you'd get free shoelaces of either Hogan, Warrior, and I THINK Macho Man. So what does she do? She orders me a poster of Warrior, and I get Hogan shoelaces lol. I didn't hate Warrior but yeah I wasn't high on him.

It was worse for my little bro, my mom had a thing for Marty Jannetty so she ordered him a Rockers poster just so she could walk by Marty every morning LOL. He was like 5 years old, no clue lol.

Haha. Love the Jannetty stans. the Jannettes, I think they were called.

With those 3, I was always a Macho Man guy, And I'd still rank Bonesaw Mcgraw as the greatest wrestling character from a movie.

I think Macho Man was a bad guy at this time so I was probably like fuck that guy he's a douchebag.

    Bonesaw or Rip.

    Rip....stop it.

    He ranks behind ThunderLips.

Mickey : What the Hell goes on inside your head? Anything normal functions?

Rocky Balboa : Yeah, a few, a few.

Mickey : I don't think so! Because to fight a guy like this, you need about 100 pounds of brain damage! I seen wrestlers that was bigger than dinosaurs! You ever fight a dinosaur, kid?

Rocky Balboa : No, Not lately.

Mickey : They can cause a variety of damage!

And then Thunderlips called Rocky "meatball" a lot.

The only thing worse than Rocky's guerilla press slam was the Rampage rating from last Friday. Nobody watches tv at 5:30pm anymore??

We're forgetting about Zeus. He'd tear Bonesaw to shreds. Bonesaw wouldn't see Zeus coming, and neither would Zeus.

    I loved that line too.

That whole segment was gold. Including the exchange about Bob Hope.

    That can be done.

Terry Funk in Roadhouse was fun. I saw it well after I became a fan and popped hard when Funker showed up.

two different polls that I need you to do,

1, Fictional Wrestlers in a movie (bonesaw, Thunderlips, Zeus, revolting blob)
    2. Actual Wrestler Cameos (funk, Nash in Turtles, Nash in Longest Yard). And we probably just need to limit it to seven Dwayne Johnson roles.

thank you for your attention to these matters.

So no-one gonna comment on Dynamite? Not even Bert?

Cole/Dax was a great opener. The sharpshooter finish from Cole after Dax was unable to do the same was a great way to great heat.

Punk/Silver was good and Punk handled the crowd heat well. Buckshot lariat finisher was great trolling.

I understand Nese winning but would’ve liked to see at least a little offense from Danhausen. At least we’re getting Hookhausen much to Nash’s delight.

Great contract signing segment and MJF’s nods to Rhodes lol. Also liked Spears doing the ten and the chair matching his suit. His customised chairs are underrated.

Jungle Boy/Starks was good though logically Starks should be pissed at Swerve for accidentally costing him the match lol.

The BCC being injected into the JAS feud with Kingston and co is a great call. Also JR left hand from Regal not a right hand!

Storm/Hayter was okay but I feel they kinda rushed the finish a bit. Storm/Baker should be great.

Just watching Jeff/Darby now and will edit in my thoughts. This match was nuts with the spots and the ladder/chair spot was bruuutal! Finishing it with a wrestling move was a nice book-end to the match. This was way too good for the first round. Hope Claudio is the joker.

I'm fine with Nese destroying Danhausen, but I'm not looking forward to Hook beating Nese.

Saw Tony Nese win, but why oh why did Danhausen just roll back into position for Tony's knee finisher again? Should have just had Tony beat down Danhausen then drag his 120 lbs corpse over to the corner and then done the finisher.

It's worse than when WWE wrestlers shimmy into position for a top rope finisher. Ridiculous.

Fuck me, I thought yesterday was Tuesday. That's what happens when I work on a Sunday.

Nobody is talking about it because there's nothing really that interesting that happened. Another rehash of MJF wanting to whip people. A bunch of boring matches aside from Hardy/Darby which took me back to the peak era of backyard wrestling (1997-2000). I assume Jeff is back on the pills because no fucking way that dude isn't hurting today. It was fuckin awesome.

One thing that I notice every week with AEW is how shit they book the women. Jade Cargill and Thunder Rosa are champions, that's a good thing. They do all of fuck nothing with Jade and Thuder is still playing 2nd fiddle to whatever Britt Baker BJTK is rambling about. I'd just like to see more especially with Jade. That whole baddies section is stupid as fuck. Old school WWE booking (lump all the blacks together).

I'll be honest if it wasn't for the byw match with Hardy/Darby this might've been the worst wrestling show I've seen all week.

Well that’s your take. Personally regardless of how one’s may feel, it could be down to just ever-dwindling forum activity which you could say for all the shows.

Bert usually has something to say regardless but not been around that much lately that I’ve noticed and BG’s taking a week off recaps so probably taken a hit there.

Forum is always dwindling, but I think there really wasn't much new this week.

I enjoyed MJF/Wardlow. And I'm glad to see BCC engaging directly with another group. I need some storyline development there.

And the Jeff/Darby match was good. It's not part of a story or pattern that really leads us to future possibilities discussion.

You could make a case that the only really compelling "storyline" right now is Wardlow/MJF.

They need a little bit of spark in the character and storyline department this summer.

While I somewhat agree and it was a bit of a tournament-heavy match-up, BCC getting involved is still new so you could discuss possibilities there over what could happen. It does seem it may be a straightforward “rasslin” vs “sports entertainment” thing and who should go over first so there’s room for discussion there.

Plus more comments could be made on the matches themselves so I think at least for this week anyway, activity and certain people not being around to drive the usual discussion has played a factor I think.

    Eh what?

I’m not associating with him in any way. I was only making a general observation about the lack of activity and used him merely as an example. Couldn’t give a crap about the other non-topic shite which you seem to mainly instigate if being honest.

I judge people by their character and content. Would love to know how I instigate any of the bullshit that comes out of Bert's mouth. Not shocked you would defend this behavior.

You speak about things you have no clue about and wind up looking more and more like a bitch. You much cooler a few years ago, what happened?

I said I couldn’t give a shit about it here because it’s not topical or relevant to wrestling. I don’t want to comment on what others do outside a wrestling thread in a wrestling thread but you putting words in mouth. A few times whenever you argue with the likes of Bert and Peter, like you’ve done with Bert here you’ve bring outside stuff in that is not relevant.

Darby/Jeff was a blast. Darby is completely mad. MJF segment was great - very much enjoyed the dark side of the ring parody with the BARRY HOROWITZ appearance and the Shawn Spears 10 stuff. Cole/Dax featured some good wrestling as well as some stuff that felt pretty off. Cool to see Hook back up Danhausen. Definitely the most shine that Tony Nese has got since joining AEW. The other matches were solid enough but I wasn't particularly engaged. Oh yeah, Punk doing the buckshot was pretty neat - but I want more. The show was enjoyable but I didn't love it as much as most seem to have. Only two more Dynamites until DoN and the PPV still feels a bit cold to me. Almost like the focus is on Forbidden Door a bit further down the road.

Pretty big ep tomorrow night. Who do we have as the "joker" going against Joe and Britt Baker?

I think Cole beats Jeff Hardy and Fenix goes over Kyle.

Kind of hoping maybe Miro is back. I haven't been a big fan of his character but it has been growing on me and he is talented and I do like him. No clue on the other.

I know that speculation of Gargano and Candace. If they were to do it I would hope it would just be a short term deal and they didn't sign because they would get lost in the shuffle quickly.

I wouldn't mind Cardona and Green since they bounce around all over the place while mainly staying in Impact and NWA.

Yeah I think Cole and Fenix win.

I know earlier in the thread I said I’d laugh if the net rumours about Gargano were true given his comments about deciding to if/when to return to the business. A bit harsh and reactive on retrospect as now I could see him maybe being cheeky and a very good worker no question. However I still stand by the fact that I’m uncertain there would be much chance for placement/growth beyond the tournament.

I would take Miro or Claudio first.

I'll be honest when I first heard that Samoa Joe was fighting "the joker" I thought they meant the wrestler from CHIKARA or CZW wherever the fuck he was from. It just screamed like something AEW would do considering they have turds like Nick Gage pop up.

Maki Itoh was the second Joker and wrestled pretty much a comedy match against Britt. Pretty disappointing.

As for Morrison, solid worker but I would’ve marked harder for Gargano and when I first saw “Johnny Elite” I thought it was gonna be him then slightly disappointed with the reveal.

Bit of a see-saw episode. Great promo exchange between Jericho and Regal referencing Regal’s troubles along with the tea incident and what Regal does with toothbrushes. MJF getting a bit of payback for the feud was needed as Wardlow has had the upper hand for ages and a decent match between Cole and Hardy with a nice beatdown from the elite but the rest of the episode was meh.

Personally I never have a problem with promos like Chris' but on the twitter all the aew ultras were giving it

'yeah you just know Chris made sure everyone was OK with it'

Like come the fuck on, I'm pretty sure that is the same when those sorts of comments are made in any company

Dug the Jericho/Regal back and forth and Mox's fire promo after(despite the couple stumbles). Was confused why Yuta wasn't out there but then I remembered the BOSJ started.

Also loved the MJF/Wardlow segment. I thought it was kinda lame they were doing the same stipulations Cody had to endure, but this was a great way to both play off the previous segments and make it brand new. Last time he had Wardlow to do some whips for him, but in comparison, they couldn't really do shit to Wardlow. Good moment for Wardlow and great way to build heat with the low blow and beat down. Not a bad spot for Spears, either.

O'Reilly/Fenix was really fun, but I felt like Fenix should have won. Less excited for KOR/Joe.

The jokers were fine, but to advertise two and both of them not winning OR being a pop-worthy talent just makes me wonder why they were advertised as jokers in the first place. JoEl makes sense a bit, but even though I like Itoh and thought the match was solid, I feel like it would have been better served to just have her qualify and advertise the match ahead of time.

I like what they're trying with Deeb, but it's not quite working, and I feel like Thunder Rosa is more of a background in a feud about her title.

I'm digging the way they've roped Lee/Swerve into the Tag Title picture for the Triple Threat. I've been digging their feud with Starks/Hobbs, and I think this is a great way to let Team Taz take the gold without necessarily beating Jurassic Express. I think that's the team that should win here.

Nothing else really stood out, but RPG Vice/FTR should be fun.

Ten minutes is a long time, except when you’re napping.

I will say that the only person I'm seeing call it a work was Bryan Alvarez who is a piece of trash. Feels like 10 minutes is a long ass time for a work but everyone thinks everything is a work these days.

Looks like a work. Bryan’s writhing around and only a few dudes are trying to move it and a cameraman is also ON the ramp as they’re doing it.

Looks like there was a gap between ramp and ring and his foot slipped down into the gap.

AEW aren't exactly known for giving a shit about anything other than talking about WWE, signing people for Dark, and talking about WWE. Safety is very very low on their priority list because it's all fake right?

5 on 5 "Anarchy in the Arena" and a Jurassic/Team Taz/Swerve & Lee 3-way for the tag titles are official for DoN.

Seemingly leaving FTR off the card is mad.

Capitalizing on acts that catch a hot streak and keeping it going is AEWs biggest weakness for sure. The one glaring exception so far being wardlow

Let's be honest....We haven't seen Wardlow outside of the MJF bubble. I'm not sure he's going to keep that same steam but again, it's AEW. Some fans will force a positive reaction out of themselves in hopes that Tony will let them come in the ring and stun QT

I feel like as long as they keep Wardlow from talking too much and can follow up with an interesting program, he'll be ok. I'm just not sure they'll have a good program for him to follow up on.

I don't either. I'll be honest, this feud reminds me a lot of Triple H v. Batista and that's a good thing. The problem is that I don't see Wardlow as the next Batista. We're kind of living in the moment with Wardlow. He hasn't done a whole lot in this business and the smash em up barely talk gimmick rarely works. At least here in the key markets for AEW like US, Canada, and western Europe. No matter how hard some of these fans want to pretend like they're like the Japanese and only care about in-ring work and the charisma that goes on in a match--it's storyline driven here. If it wasn't, nobody would give a shit about Wardlow.

I'm excited for the AEW dream match Young Bucks v. The Hardyz. Upside to there being almost no build is that if you're watching AEW, 90% sure you know they've wrestled several times. Not to mention the obvious influence Hardyz and the Naturals had on the Bucks.

Did anyone think that Moxley sounded a bit off in his promo Wednesday? IDK if he was just getting emotional hearing Jericho or what. I know it's a work, Mox and Jericho are really good friends, but man there was something off about him. He sounded like he had a bad cold.

I take it Danhausen and Hook will win, with that Sterling guy taking the fall to make Nese still look strong. Probably with Nese beating down Hook and Hausen after the match. And this will lead to a Hook vs. Nese match where Hook wins. Unfortunately.

I love Nese, but he should have been a major player in the Owen Hart tournament instead of wrestling goofy gimmicks. Switch around Adam Cole and Tony Nese and that would be better.

Tony Neese....Remember when they would just show him in the crowd like he was some big celebrity wrestler? lol. 2-3 weeks you'd just see Tony in the crowd, a little graphic with his name would pop up....

Danhausen and Hook are like Santino and Koslov. Great chemistry, and once the split happens just like with Santino and Koslov it'll be IC title reigns and programs with Taker and Triple H no doubt about it.

You're going to see Hook as world champion by the end of 2023, and Danhausen will be a manager by then.

Hook has that Maven thing going for him. Mediocre in the ring, decent look, best song in the business today.

It sounds like some shit you'd hear by Wu Tang in the 90's but then Hook comes out and you're like.....this guy probably works out to Future.

That’s what’s so great about him. Looks like a total Maven but anyone other than Danhausen besmirches his potato chips….

Cool. My daughter and I are doing the show the following week here. Dark, Dynamite and Rampage in one night. Going to be a long one but worth it.

Probably the same length as going to a WWE show. A couple of dark matches, Superstars/Main Event or whatever shows they have now, and then a 3 hour RAW.

Been a while since I have gone to a Raw. The 1000th episode like 10 years ago. Last time I went they weren't taping anything before hand. I think there was a dark match and that was that so didn't get there as early as I will for this. No dark matches afterwards but there was stuff going on in the ring between the people that ended the show but it wasn't much.

Looks like things start at 6pm. So they tape some matches for Dark or Dark Elevation and then at 7 the show starts and goes to 9 and then Rampage after that. So yeah won't be out of there until after 10pm probably. So yeah pretty close if I were to go to a Raw since they tape stuff before hand now.

Still a long night sitting in an arena because knowing me I will get there way earlier than I need to if I can help it. I will have a blast for sure but money says as much fun as my daughter is having she will be ready to get the hell out of dodge by the time it is over. I think she is only going on the chance of seeing Orange Cassidy.

Yeah that's going to be a long night and we've heard plenty of times of how draining those shows are on fans.

I remember a couple years ago when WWE did the back to back Christmas taping here in Des Moines. THANK GOD for no commercials because we would've been there for at least 6 hours.
