This feels like a real "cult leader" skit.

But damn, are they taking a shot at Vince McMahon? The blue suit, nobody eats before him, hates sneezing.

    That's a really "insider" parody.

Cody riding the line of kayfabe and non-kayfabe on commentary tonight. Unlike his old man, Cody actually knows the names of moves and how to talk psychology.

Instead of shouting about "plunder" and saying "he's tryin' to uncle 'em there!".

It just doesn't translate 1-to-1 to an American audience.

I like Jericho using the Britney Spears mic, but he needs to make sure the damn thing works beforehand.

Word. He's a little too aggro even though his heart seems to be in the right place, he's got scummy heel written all over him.

Great trick with Matt Hardy teleporting.

Love to see how they did it. I'm assuming they green-screened that somehow?

I feel like you keep Broken Matt away from long promos, put the character in video packages and skits, and maybe let him talk for a couple minutes at a time. In a very controlled environment.

Broken Matt isn't the kind of character who should be doing a 20-minute back-and-forth with somebody who does traditional promos, especially like Jericho.

That came across like Jericho was a social services worker and he was trying to talk Broken Matt into admitting himself into an institution. When you're dealing with the mentally ill, sometimes you feed into their delusion to gain their trust.

Jericho might as well have showed up in a white suit with a net to send Matt back to the loony bin.

I think Jake Roberts has had some pretty good stuff since he's come on board but it feels like most of his promo stuff is unintentionally getting over how cool of a promo Jake is rather than the imposing threat Archer should be. Not liking that disconnect in this early stage.

Moxley's promo was good but it feels off for why he's going for Hager. I know Hager powerbombed him through the table but Jericho was pretty much the instigator, but I guess the rerouting is due to the fact Jericho and Hardy are off on their own island now.

It's early but the different layers of Lee seemed confusing. Was the mocking of McMahon working with the sense that Lee is going to be a dick to his followers just because he can?

Guevara/Omega was very entertaining. The cuts to Brandi as Guevara was making out with the drawing of her were hilarious.

The whole confrontation was something else. Jericho cutting a promo on Vanguard 1, ending with Jericho trying to persuade Vanguard 1 to joining the Inner Circle, was something squarely in his wheelhouse. This is clearly a battle to see who is more delusional. The back and forth promo would have taken forever, as is, if it was in front of a crowd. I can't imagine the segment was everyone's cup of tea but it was definitely more in the vain of Impact's Broken Matt character.

Was good to see they were smarter with their personnel (mainly JR). The Omega seemed hot and cold to me with his commentary. Cody was solid in the same role. Tough cut to break during the Allin/Sabian match lol. Having the live look-ins backstage was a creative way to maybe work around having too many people ringside. I think the problem with that, though, was the constant cutaways to them.

It's going to be radically hit or miss among the viewing audience. If there's any question about Jericho's promo ability, though, I think that's been laid to rest because he was quite good over the duration of the segment. It all comes down to Hardy. It's just going to make AEW that much more diversified in terms of it genres within the show. I presume Hardy is going to stay on this course, and I'm guessing that the overall persona is likely a bridge too far for a lot of people.

I think there's an argument that Matt spent so much time away from the true Broken character that he hasn't found his groove with it again, yet. Ending segment was awkward, but only for the promo parts. Him teleporting through the crowd was the perfect kind of cheesy yet fascinating I was hoping for.

Here's hoping Matt gets his groove back, and we get some more pre-taped segments where he tends to knock it out of the park.

I think Jericho's reaction to Hardy's wonkiness was just as silly and scripted as Hardy's was silly and wack...
Overall it was not good, but maybe it was out of left field enough to satiate the innerchildren of wrestling. Hardy may be onto something being the Delete of the Elite.

Jericho’s promo on vanguard was funny only a selected few could get that to work in an empty arena.

Cheesy teleportation was what it was, I didn’t mind it. Probably to long Hardy and Jericho going back and fourth. Hopefully Hardy finds that character again soon and it will be a lot smoother.

Sammy G/Omega very good match as expected. Defo thing they could go better again.

I did enjoy the Jericho/V1 segment. The dark order just isnt working for me.

I have to give AEW credit, with the coronavirus effect they are putting on the most entertaining shows in wrestling right now.

I’ve actually just got onto the whole concept is taking a shot at Vinnie Mac. He has the... as Cody put it "Daddy eats first" rule and also he hates it if you sneeze. So the whole thing was making fun of the first out of touch old man to not believe in the Brodie Lee

What’s a good site to watch all episodes of Dynamite and the ppv’s?

I don't think you have to grasp the satire to appreciate it. It makes for an interesting character regardless of the source. I think there's just more to get from it if you know the rumors about Vince.

    Interesting revelation provided by Jericho.

Jericho discussed the closing segment from this week’s episode of Dynamite. He acknowledged the teleportation entrance of Matt Hardy was Jericho’s idea. They filmed the segment on Tuesday, but Jericho wasn’t happy with it, so they decided to redo it on Wednesday prior to the airing. However, it wasn’t dark yet as Daily’s Place is an open-air facility and the light would be visible. The solution was to re-tape the segment as Dynamite was on the air and they had to do it during the airing of the Darby Allin vs. Kip Sabian match, which was a taped match. They shot the segment, edited it within fifteen minutes and aired it during the last segment of the show.

He also noted that the move to have them use lapel microphones instead of handheld ones was a decision to go for a different look and they did not require handheld microphones with no fans in attendance.

Great use of what they had in this situation.

Let's hope WWE learned something and made good use of such tactics for the only Wrestlemania too big for one nap.

I find it amusing that Jericho called out Matt for how ridiculous his new persona is, yet in IRL the teleportation was his idea

    Cool!

I never really thought of the Best Friends as a gay gimmick. Just two straight dudes who are comfortable being affectionate with each other.

Doing a tournament is a great way to fill TV time over the next couple months. I wonder if they moved up the introduction of the TV title because of the crisis?

As far as the Best Friends, I've always seen their gimmick as just being "Dude Bros". Sounds like people are projecting more than anything else.

Aww yeah.... who's ready for another night of hot, wrestling action? We're live from AEW's Doomsday Bunker in an "undisclosed location" for yet another night of empty arena action. The crowd would be electric, but they're not here! But TV never dies... so let's get ready for AEW Wednesday Night...

And on tonight's jam packed episode of AEW Dynamite we'll see...

    - The in-ring debut of "The Murderhawk" Lance Archer.

    - Kenny "Jazz Hands" Omega straps his tap shoes on as he hopes to dance all over Trent? No Last Name Given in a singles match.

    - In a tag-team grudge match, Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin take on the exciting team of Sammy Guevara and Shawn Spears.

    - Tonight, the brackets will be announced for the upcoming TNT Championship Tournament. It's going to be explosive!

Trent might be the most underrated guy on the roster. He carries that fuckface, invisible hand grenade fuck Chuck Taylor kicking and screaming through decent tags. And he always delivers on his end of any singles matches he's in.

Trent's the kind of guy who deserves elevating toward that Nitro Title level.

    Omega/Trent was Trent's best match.

I know AEW has some equity in The Best Friends, but Trent would be so much better on his own.

    Darby Allin heel turn?

Nah. Not a heel turn. Probably more of a "frustrated babyface" sort of thing.

I think Darby is just mad that Cody is such a jabroni, so I guess my new favorite tag wrestler won't be trusting any new teammates for awhile...

Interesting and smart that they had him do that in front of no audience

AEW is doing better at weathering this no arena storm, because there is a sense of fun to it. WWE being wrapped in the Mania build that for the last few years has been stoic and dramatic for their big matches had been very dry.

Was that ring smaller? Considering they tried to keep the location of the taping secret, I'm wondering if this was the gym QT/Cody have in Georgia. That would also lend credence to the women's performer, who was from Georgia, on the show against Hikaru Shida. Having some of the roster out there during the entire show, to make noise and interact with the matches, adds so much to the atmosphere for the show. They tried something different last week, to their credit, but it didn't really work. Good on them tinkering.

It's smart on AEW's part to let Kenny cook. They need to fill time and they're letting one of their best guys get plenty of time in matches with quality opponents. Hard to argue with the logic there.

    Good debut for Archer.

It was obvious that they were going to double down on Jericho and Vanguard 1. It paid off as it was an amusing segment.

I didn't take Allin's actions after the match as a turn. I just saw it as frustration with the tournament on the horizon and getting burned after doing the right thing. He didn't want to be consoled and just got caught up in the moment, but it's convenient since Allin and Cody are squaring off next week.

Got to be Spears/Allin and Archer/Dustin in the semis. Then Allin/Archer final. That sounds like an amazing tournament. Probably with Archer going over and then Allin chasing? But Darby could also just win this and that'd be good too. I want a full on Archer/Dustin feud too.

Jericho calling Hardy Dumbass-cus was hilarious.
