If Zarian and SRS are talking about it already, I’d say it’s incoming soon-ish. They’re definitely fed info by TK directly.

if it's a workhorse title, you can get NWA and impact and Triple A women in one the action too.

Why not just use the 30 women they already have? Why outsource?

But if they make a bad decision, I wouldn't mind seeing it as an elevational title, where after holding it for a while and engaging in some better quality title-based storylines, they give people a shot at being elevated enough to go for Britt.

The one tangible I think is missing from AEW’s women’s division a bit is character. Britt has it in spades, Riho as the underdog has it. Nyla is the monster (and no disrespect to Vickie and great that AEW gave her a job adds nothing). Thunder Rosa, great worker but not into her character. Shida’s fucking great wrestler and great matches but meh character. Abadon has a cool as fuck character and wouldn’t have objected to her beating Shida.

Talent side by side with WWE women, probably a close run thing but they have the edge in character. AEW women’s division can only get better if they also bring in women from other promotions too with this secondary title.

Thought the stage setup was very solid. The LED ramp is a really nice touch and something they should consider keeping.

Really, really liked the fact that they opened the show they way the did. The crowd was going to be its hottest and the atmosphere was going to be electric at the start, so no better way than just to hit them hard with the big match. You could tell that was the right move with how the crowd was acting after the bell rang. Danielson also looked like he was on the verge of tears. On top of that, the crowd went nuts when they finally locked up. The match absolutely delivered on the "Dream Match" billing, and this felt like the best Omega match I've seen from him in AEW. Commentary was pretty solid throughout the match but there were some moments where they really needed to lay out because the crowd was expressing things way better than commentary could have done or actually did. Fine line to work with but not really adding drama with the time-limit situation up until just 45 seconds left was a little off to me. Regardless, it was a phenomenal match.

Crowd booed the result of the opener but quickly forgot that they gave a damn about that and cheered when Cult of Personality hit. That sold me even more that the finish there was the right way to go.

Happy Punk is just as endearing as Happy Corbin. He was happy to call out Hobbs but he clearly fears Hook lol.

MJF/Pillman Jr. was pretty good. Two birds with one stone as it gave a spotlight match for Pillman Jr. and was the needed get-right match for MJF.

To say there were palpable 'F-U Cody, I hope you get slaughtered' vibes may be an understatement lol. Good tweak to Black's gear by going to the kickboxing shorts and have the right eye red for the match. Absolutely fitting for Black to haul ass after Cody fell to the outside after the Black Mass (which was sold very well by Cody). Weird planned/unplanned fall from grace by Anderson. I tend to think that wasn't planned but the actual bump by Cody was. The body shots didn't seem like it should be that concerning of an issue for the ref but it set up the finish. Meh, but the match was good.

Nice homage, considering Sting was one of the opponents, by FTR to have nWo-inspired gear. They're just so good as a tag team and working as a tandem that's intent on cutting the ring off in half. Fun tease with the Tombstone attempt on Sting. There's obvious limitations in play when you're looking at some who is 62, but Sting looked pretty dang solid. No issues with that match and they laid it out well, and the right team won.

Britt has come a long way as a worker during her time in AEW. Major props to her for that. That said, I don't know what it was early in the match but when they were running together and transitioning along the way, they just weren't clicking or all that fluid. I think the pacing along the way could have been a bit better but I thought they did the best they could. As long as she doesn't overdo it, Britt is brilliant when it comes to looking at the right camera when she's setting something up or finishing a nice move. Probably had some momentum for a title change but I like the decision not to.

Great show as always. The Omega/Bryan match ending in a time limit draw is a great move. I would have played it up from the 5 minutes remaining for the drama from the commentary team I'm not sure if they were advising the live crowd of the time remaining which may have thrown off the crowd reaction. Better than 50/50 booking where somebody wins and loses later or a DQ ending.

Womens Tag belts should be the next belts on the horizon for the women I don't like the idea of a secondary singles womens title as they normally only have 1 womens match per dynamite. Women have been pairing off lately so it seems more likely.

they were announcing the time remaining to the crowd.

i love that they didn't play into the melodrama of the time winding down. both men were still in stride despite the beating they'd given each other, it wasnt down to desperation yet. make it about the wrestlers, not the time.

Crowd was hot as hell for Bryan/Omega, great atmosphere right off the bat. Slow start but it got cooking good. That V-Trigger down the ramp was rad as hell. Kudos to all you mofos predicting the time limit draw. Kind of a fizzle of a finish but it works for a rematch and when you immediately go to Punk, the sour taste is washed out quick.

Punk promo was fine enough. Punk/Hobbs is the only match I want to see from Rampage so I'm not sure if I'll be bothering.

MJF/BPJ was alright. MJF is a damn good heel. I can't back a guy that looks as goofy as BPJ.

Cody/Black was very good. Crowd was very pro-Black, anti-Cody and it seemed like maybe sewing seeds for a double-turn at the finish with Cody swatting off the ref? Maybe I'm off as I don't watch regularly. I didn't even catch that Black used black mist, I thought it was a thumb to the eye 'cuz it was so fast and there was no replay. Seems like Arn fell off the apron early or accidentally before the planned fall?

Tag team match was really good. Sting was in there and did a lot more than i expected. I really dig his pairing with Darby, seems like it works and they've got a cool vibe about them. That Coffin Drop at the end was gnarly.

Really enjoyed the main event a lot. Was really hoping Ruby would take it and it seemed like maybe it would happen but sadly, not tonight, though she looked a beast in the process and got to kick out of a lot of big shit. She needs a posse to balance the numbers...dare I say a squad? Hm. Get Abadon on your team, Ruby.

@Melly was also watching with me and is open to giving AEW a look here and there, so we'll probably be popping it on more often going forward when there's a card that looks appealing.

He tried to swing around the ring post and as soon as I saw him doing it I was like oh no he's going to fall. He should have just gotten off the apron, walked around the post, and gotten back on the apron. Or just have Cody go check on him after he falls and you don't even need him to get back up on the apron for the bump.

Bro, I was fixated on that rotunder. Soon as his face grimaced at the corner, I knew it was curtains. He disappeared off camera like a graboid took him.

Bryan vs Omega was incredible. My wife even stopped working to sit down and watch it because she could hear the crowd going crazy.

Haha my wife looked at the screen once, saw Bryan’s chest and said “oh, that boy looks like he’s really hurt”

That Omega/Danielson match was fucking great! PPV quality match for free! I assume their rematch will be on PPV for the title. Can't wait for that

    On second thought..

I'll be curious to see how BPJ moves forward. I thought there could have been some more there from the match. Will be interesting to see if there's more of an evolution of his character after this.

I was a little more confused based on the finish with Black/Cody. Black emphatically beat him in the first match up and used the mist and a rollup for this one. More of these two together is fine, and it will be intriguing to see how they work with how the crowd is going to associate the two of them.

    From a storytelling standpoint:

cody was Black’s first opponent, he had no idea what was coming. Match #2, the nightmare family has studied Black in all of his matches with Nightmare people, so Cody came into this one with a game plan.

Bryan and Omega was outstanding! Bryan taking a Dragon Suplex on the ramp in his first match? No wasted movement and everything had a purpose. Bryan is so good at selling, I wasn't sure if he was really hurt. His right arm did seem to be bothering him after the belly to belly off the turnbuckle, so hopefully it's not too serious. I remember reading when he came back from his retirement that he didn't have full use of one of his arms, or his strength had diminished (or something to that effect). I don't know if this was an example of that since the match was so intense.

Malakai Black is so damn good. He's so smooth in the ring and works his martial arts background into his move set perfectly. I can't wait to see Black mix it up with the rest of the roster.

I actually think Arn falling played into the spot even more. Him being knocked loopy makes more sense as to why he'd get up on the apron like that. Felt less contrived.

My only regret about AEW is I wish they had another hour of their show because they absolutely killed it last night. Everything just fits together perfectly. Can't wait for Rampage.

I imagine Dynamite will have the best match overall of the week with Rampage probably having at least the second, third, and maybe fourth-best ones.

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has officially set the date for “Dynamite’s” move to TBS.The pro wrestling promotion’s flagship weekly series will move from TNT to TBS on January 5, 2022. Until then, new episodes will continue to air weekly on TNT Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
However, the recently launched sister show “AEW: Rampage” will remain on TNT instead of moving to TBS as originally planned. “Rampage” debuted on TNT on Aug. 13 and airs weekly on Fridays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
AEW has proven to be a strong ratings draw for the Turner networks, with “AEWynamite” ranking as the number one show on cable in the key adults 18-49 demographic for the past four Wednesdays in a row. Ratings data for the most recent episode of “Dynamite” that aired on Sept. 22 are not available at the time of this publishing, but the show did barely edge out WWE’s “Monday Night Raw” in the key demo last week. “Dynamite” finished its two hour broadcast with a 0.44 rating in the demo, while the three-hour “Raw” did a 0.43.

Did anyone else feel like that was the most well-timed and meaningful Regal-plex of Danielson's career? Some of the early ones were big because of the what-if factor but using his own move 20 years into his career for a near-fall just seems so righteous to me.

Bryan Danielson on his white nip t shirt.
“That’s been an intentional thing on my part. Not wearing a merchandise shirt, not wearing a Bryan Danielson shirt. Not that I won’t in the future, but the idea is to strip everything down and see if what I present and what I do is enough. And I think it is. I’m at a point in my career where I really want to challenge myself. If I wasn’t already known to people, could I come in and get massively over? I think about that a lot. I also try to simplify my life. The older I get, the less I need. A plain white T-shirt is exactly that in its most abstract form.”
    Interesting bit:
“And I just knew this was right. I remember watching a random Dynamite, and Cody [Rhodes] was wrestling Penta. Penta was standing on the top rope, and Cody did a springboard up to the side and then a top-rope hurricanrana. It was amazing, and my jaw just stopped. I know Cody, I rode with Cody, Cody and I are friends. At least I thought I knew him until I saw him do that. I asked myself, ‘What on Earth is going on over there?’ In my mind, I was thinking, ‘I can’t do that.’ Then I started thinking about it, and I thought, ‘Yes, I can.’ So the idea of pushing myself past comfort zones I’ve been accustomed to, that really excites me.”

Read a transcript of some of this interview and lol'd at this part.

Eddie on helping the young guys:
Everything you think is a big deal now, a lot of it, like 98% of it, later on you’re gonna be like what was the point?’ Everyone has a long journey. I can only lead a horse to water. If they don’t drink the water, I gotta drown it. They are not a good horse.”

Last night's Dynamite was watched by 1,273,000 viewers on average, including 627,000 aged 18 to 49 (0.48 demo rating), per Brandon Thurston.

Looks like that would be Dynamite's third largest numbers in its history behind the Oct. 2019 premiere and the show following All Out a few weeks ago.

I just read your quote, so if I heard in his voice maybe I would have heard more Miro.

But take that quote just as its written and tell me you can't hear Swanson's voice. I feel like virms would know what I'm talking about here.

the rating is a disappointment for me imo. it's both a great number, and a disappointment. i feel like with danielson/omega they should have topped the post-all out show. i think they should have announced it earlier, specifically on the post-PPV show with all the viewers.

It's certainly a mixed bag of results. It's what you said but it's also still trending the right way.

EDIT: My bad, this news was already posted here lol
That's OK, I did the same thing posting about Owen in the video game when there was a whole conversation on going about it.

I'm pretty sure the idea is that it will be available in more homes, and I've heard that the parent company wants to make AEW sort of the flagship.

Also probably to avoid conflicts with basketball.

That all makes sense. They just need a Saturday show with a 6:05 P.M. time slot.

I'm not sure. I assume to avoid the NBA

Specifically now due to the NHL being on TNT but likely also due to the NBA.

    Brilliant show.

I've said it before, but Justin Roberts's time updates aren't audible. Perhaps not even in the arenas either, as the commentary team didn't pick up on it either. Though obviously they shouldn't have needed them, they know the way the match is going to go. I just managed to hear Roberts say one minute left. The drama could have been greater in the last 5 minutes if they'd have gotten that right. The match and atmosphere was electric though.

Loved the tag match too. Darby is so good.

Could have gone with the title switch in the main, but no problem with Britt retaining.

I think Malakai is my favourite, after my boy Hangman, of course. Cody heel run can't be too far off and I'm all for it.

Roll on Rampage, though I can't see it until Sunday.

MJFs mom seems great. I remember his dad owns a paleo bagel business, they're called pagels.

I see Meltzer gave the Danielson/Omega match 5 stars.

The first of Danielson's career. Which further questions Meltzer's system, really.

    Was great though.

It was definitely smart booking to have Omega/Danielson go the distance. I would definitely like to see them build up a rivalry in the same vein as Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles did in TNA years ago. They're two of the best out there today and anytime we see them throw down we should automatically know, even if it's a cold match, it'll be the best match on the card for sure.

But let's be honest guys...the highlight was watching Street Jesus do his thing.

Good info from Cole in regards to the conversations with McMahon once Cole's contract extension was coming up.

Jericho and Cole both saw NXT 2.0 as a reset because NXT lost the "War" with AEW. Cole thinks guys like Ciampa and Gargano are going to be fine in NXT with this current reset because they're going to be valuable to them. Cole mentioned that the perception of NXT certainly lost steam once AEW started touring and was filling arenas while NXT was still at the CWC.

Cole talked about his last-minute decision to go to AEW and the discussion with Triple H and HBK. Both guys were supportive of Cole's decision and wished him the best.

I just listened to that, going through the Renee podcast now.

He's a very good talker on these interviews.

As much as I'm not a fan of Adam Cole I did listen to his appearance on TIJ. There were a few times Jericho seemed to get Cole to shit on the WWE's creative process but it never happened. If people are expecting a Luke Harper-Dean Ambrose "I love the WWE but fuck the WWE" type conversation, don't waste your time. if you're looking to hear from a well-spoken, humble talent, definitely check it out.

He's very engaging and it's quite easy to tell he's a glass half-full type of guy.

Of all the matches Uncle Dave has seen of Danielson's, the only one that was good enough for a 5 star rating was the draw with Omega.

This man needs to be cancelled.

Why do you care? it's his opinion. You can rate any match five-stars that you want.

I woulda given his Brock match five. Same with the Cena title match at Summerslam 13. Shit, I;d give his Morishima match the full five too.

    Dave didn't. It's whatever.

Was it Danielson-nigel 1 or 2 when Cactus Lem threw the bottle?

I'm just talking shit you little bitch lol. I get it, I pissed in Dave's mouth and you're salty about it.

And you're right, I give a match any rating I want but since so many of you little girls and boys pattern your love of wrestling around what your creepy ass Uncle Dave Meltzer thinks....I just figured I'd contribute like everyone else.

Oh but I get it, I didn't praise his opinion. Shit this wasn't even a 5 star match. If this is a 5 star match so was Sgt Slaughter v. Ultimate Warrior at Rumble 1991.
