Okay quote my posts about Kofi and what this has to do with this.

More offended about the stoned comment which was completely out of left field.

No I don’t agree with anything you have said because I fail to see how Kofi is relevant to this discussion in any way whatsoever.

Btw I love Kofi. Seems like you need more power of positivity.

You’re right, must train harder to be a wrestler.

i'm a fan of moxley's overall. i like his character and most of his promos, he feels like a big star, i really respect him walking away from easy money in WWE to do something self fulfilling. so i'm a fan of his for sure. but i'm really not too high on his wrestling. he works comically light. his strikes are downright awful most of the time to be honest. his style is, or at least can be often, kind of like a soulless pantomime of hard-hitting NJPW style ~8 years ago, but without the actual hard hitting and without the genuine fire. i cut him slack on his flaws because i like him overall and he's a major asset to AEW but the flaws are there for sure.

Moxley is one of the better parts of AEW. He and Black are the two main reasons I tune in.

Better character than worker is fair. Solid worker though.

I think the Omega street fight early on is my favourite Moxley match so far.

Mox's match with Karl Anderson was a breath of fresh air, more of this Mox please. His Texas death match w/ Archer should be ok, but I'm fatigued from all the hardcore stuff.

i'm definitely tired of stunt-heavy hardcore stuff. give me a brawl where they just punch and kick each other, bite each other, and bleed buckets. no table spots or goofy weapons.

That's one of my worries with Moxley. I think all of the extra bells and whistles needs to be more of an attraction for the PPVs. I get they are back on the road but just let the guy scrap, he's pretty good at it despite whatever his "work ethic" supposedly is

I'm going to start out by saying Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose has been one of my top 2 favorites in wrestling for several years now.

With that said, look how fucking triggered people get in this thread.

People asking if you're stoned is a common question when someone is trying to give you the benefit of the doubt for saying something really, really stupid. Not exactly out of left field unless you have some rep of being a big pothead that I'm unaware of.

I'd like to see W. Morrissey tangle it up Wardlow or Lance Archer, if Impact and AEW allow it.

Haven't seen Hikuleo wrestle in forever. Very interested to see Meng's large adult son in that spot next week.

I hope not. Andrade deserves more than being on a bloated roster working in for "fans" who praise a guy like Nick Gage. This is what wrestling looks like when the neckbeards get what they want.

I somewhat agree about Archer. I think he needs to be the one to truly retire 65 year old Sting. Then go to WWE and kill off Goldberg.

I don't think Sting should ever retire. If he's willing to work at 60, he should keep the door open.

Nick Gage just makes me nervous. He was supposed to wrestle Low Ki last year before the shutdown hit and I wanted to see that -- I mean, Low Ki has no reason to fear a pizza-cutter, right?
Jericho is a legit tough guy though and it should be interesting to see those two work, but I'd rather not look forward to whatever Gage has planned, redemption-story or not. Return of The Painmaker seems like the smart way to go. Hopefully it's a squash.

    Okay, probably went too far.

So... fuck Nick Gage. He sucks and deathmatch "wrestling" is for brainless idiots who don't know what real wrestling is.

I'm a huge fan of "deathmatch" wrestling I'm just not a fan of Nick Gage as a wrestler or a human being.

I don't think purposely trying to split people open in ways that they ask you not to and robbing banks doesn't fly. I have zero sympathy for literal garbage wrestlers. It's like expecting me to be a fan of Tamina because women's wrestling is the best wrestling on the planet. Naw. Every genre has a really shitty sub genre lead by a dirtball people pretend to like.

I actually respect Tamina because at least she has an ounce of actual talent. She's not "good", but at least she tries. I've never seen Tamina try to cut somebody's tongue out with a pizza cutter or try to horribly maim David Arquette. Nick Gage is an irredeemable pimple on the deflated ball sack of life.

No but just simply having to witness a Tamina match is right up there with Nick Gage or DJ Hyde bullshit.

Just call up Super Humann and have him woop woop into a bed of butcher knives.

lol. Dude talks a lot of shit about other people's looks. I did feel bad for his band having to play in front of 12 people recently. Living that 80's rockstar life.

    New Jack?

I'm not a fan of death match spot wrestling with no real wrestling in between. I'm ok with the way Moxley does it. Nick Gage still has a lot of charisma and blurs the line between kayfabe and real life. I think he's very similar to New Jack in that way. I also know Jericho isn't going to be taken advantage of so I'll be interested to see what they come up with next week.

New Jack was a very singular type of wrestler. When they made Jack, they broke the mold. And every death match idiot that's ever come after him has tried to match what Jack was. And they fail.

New Jack was a lunatic bounty hunter with 4 justifiable homicides under his belt who just so happened to stumble his way into a company where their booker was insane enough to make him a featured player. And that was after a different kind of lunatic put Jack's life on the line by making him a heel in a deeply racist, Southern territory.

Nick Gage wishes he could be New Jack. But New Jack wrestled major stars on pay-per-view. Nick Gage is a cocaine addict who robbed a bank.

    What about New Jack?

What about Madman Pondo? What about Zandig? What about Jun Kasai?

I disagree with every positive you're trying to make for this idiot. He doesn't have a lot of charisma. Coming out flipping people off saying fuck fuck motherfucker, wow, come to the Iowa State Fair you'll find about 2,000 Nick Gages on East Side Night lol.

Nick Gage doesn't blur any lines for me, I see him for exactly what he is. Terrible. I can see what you're saying with that super loose comparison to New Jack but I wasn't really a fan of New Jack either.

I highly doubt they'd bring Nick Gage in just to have Jericho squash him. Jericho obviously wins though.

AEW's roster is already amazing right now. Punk and/or Bryan would just be taking the piss.

I heard they were opening up other sections to potentially get to 19,000 seats. Bryan making his debut in that stadium in front of that crowd will be something else.

I was going through their upcoming events and it’s a whole week of shows in Chicago leading to All Out. Not a bad time to bring in Punk.

Some talks circulating that this has been something in the works pre-pandemic but it feels like every year we have a story about CM Punk returning. I do believe this is legit. Some of these cats like Punk, Christian, Bryan, Big Show, they're going to look at AEW the same way Nash, Booker T, Angle, and even Christian looked at TNA. Lighter schedule, tv presence, and operated by someone who has unlimited resources for now.

I can't hate on the premise. It's the reason why Hogan, Savage, Hall, Nash, etc. jumped ship to WCW. More guaranteed money for half the dates. And guys like Daniel Bryan and CM Punk have in some respects earned that spot. Just like in TNA--Dixie was willing to pay Sting 7 figures a year to work 10-15 dates. Did it do them any good? Of course not. TNA at one point had a crazy deep roster of legends, new talent, etc. and it didn't really do much.

I wish 5-10 years ago we were as forgiving with the shit ratings TNA had as we are with AEW and WWE.

I think AEW is going to be the # 1 pro wrestling company in the USA in the next year or so, especially if they sign Bryan and Punk. I'm hoping this will light a fire under WWE's ass to have them put on a better product.

Ratings for TNA were definitely talked about when Hogan showed up there and said they wanted a monday night war. Before that I don't remember anyone caring though. It was more talked about how great the wrestlers were.

People in general. I'm not going to pretend I vividly remember ratings discussions on Rajah's message board from 10+ years ago.

I can't really speak on that far back on this message board because Hogan came to TNA in what, 2009?

And if you go back and actually read my post, I said the last 5-10 years, which would mean AFTER Hulk Hogan arrived correct? But I've been talking to people, reading the WON for 20 years talking about TNA/Impact ratings. It all tied in with many many people trying to predict when it was finally over for that company-which started before they aired their first show. Very few people thought they would last with that weekly ppv model.

I do remember one guy was always kind of gloating about how bad the WWE ratings were. Soxfanatic maybe? Might be thinking of someone else.

I can 100% tell you that we've cared about ratings on this message board prior to AEW.

Are ratings even accurate? DVR, YouTube views, streaming apps etc. have to be factored in no? I feel like watching live on cable might be the minority way of watching these days.

Fuck no. It's just unfortunately an outdated way a lot of us fans still gauge the popularity of wrestling.

Let's put it this way. WWE have record low ratings for Raw, but they still continue to make more money each year than the year prior. They make more money now, inflation factored in and everything, than when Hogan, Rock, Austin, etc. were on top. When WWE were getting 7-8's in the ratings, they were making maybe a 5th of what they make now.

For example, I rarely watch AEW live. My best friend DVR's it. Raw-SD-NXT, we watch those on Hulu the following day. This past week's Raw was the first Raw I have watched live in a long, long time and fuck me I was pissed lol. It sucked. I know people who watch these promotions youtube whether that's clips or the entire show getting uploaded like AEW will do in segments. You might have missed Pockets and Stingk baby kicking each other last night, hop on Instagram people have all the highs and lows right there.

But they do matter in the sense that again, it gives people an outdated way of gauging the popularity of something. The thing is, WWE operates on a completely different level than AEW and everyone else. How many international tv deals does AEW have in comparison to WWE?

Nice! I'm honestly not that high on her wrestling, I'm just a fan of her in general.
