Unless he comes out to Blues Traveler - Hook, I don't give a shit about him.

VHS is a weird dude but I'm confident in my ability to not be on fire and not be on fire in Iowa.

The implication that our only interaction would require you to be in my home state is ridiculous Bert.

You never leave the house and studies show most people who burn alive are house fire related deaths.

Someone's getting real fucking cocky about their ability to not catch fire.

Really, really enjoyed the Hangman/Danielson match but that was about it for me. The MJF/Martin match had its moments but the ending really took me out of it.

I'd be frustrated if I watched a match for an hour only for it to end in a draw. Isn't this the second time that's happened to Daniel Bryan?

That was a clinic. Incredible from bell to bell. Proud of the crowd for hanging in there. If you're not putting Hangman in your top 5 of 2021 you're missing out. I was actually watching this seeing him surpass Danielson. I was 200% wrong in thinking it'd be cool if Danielson won. Who's excited for what's next? Me.

The great thing about this match is like with other hour long classics like Omega/Okada for example, it didn't feel like an hour. The draw....Best booking decision you could make honestly. DANIELSON might not be the #1 wrestler in the company after seeing Page evolve so much in that match. It makes me wish I had been there live for that match instead of the Kenny Omega/Page title match. Omega's great but he's not Danielson or Page. It's like comparing Triple H to Kurt Angle. One guy is very good, the other incredible.

Phenomenal match no doubt and booking and storyline- wise probably the right decision but at the same time, it still feels like they blew their load not doing this on PPV. No matter what stip they come up with next, it’ll be hard to top that.

Just feels like this could’ve been served for a better occasion then see what happens next, especially when the second half was so meh.

I trust they can follow up for a rematch. The match was great. I don't think it really matters whether it's on TV or not.

Oh the rematch will no doubt be great, just a feeling of mine that they gave away too much too soon in the opener. They could’ve slow-built it a bit more, put this on the ending of a PPV then make fans salivate more to see them settle the score at the next PPV.

I know hot openers do work but I think that should’ve been saved for the end of a show as the crowd will probably be shattered to fully take in what’s next and what was served after that while not necessarily all bad it no doubt was hard for them to get as invested.

Another take is just to let the ring be MJF’s thing for now and not waste yearly battle royals on it. It’s his thing now to the point where if he loses it, it’ll be so long gone it’s beyond care.

They were probably worried they couldn't sustain viewership if the first hour sucked. It's the same reason they put CM Punk matches on first.

AEW doesn't really have anything to lose so Psycho is right in the sense that it doesn't matter if it's on tv or not. People don't really buy ppv these days and you're trying to get ratings. That's how we wound up with jobbers being non-existent for the most part. Now it's every week a big match that you'd expect to be a ppv match. Plus AEW only does 4 ppvs a year-which shows they don't give a shit about that model. No different than WWE-do you think if they cared about "ppv" they'd give it away for free?

He is right from that sense but from a business point of view, more could have paid for that instead of making it so easily accessible.

Tbf I think there are flaws on both ends of their models here. WWE I think do too many PPV shows on top of their normal TV shows (eg Raw being three hours every week!). I think AEW recognise that “less is more” a bit but when it does come to their PPVs, though only 4 a year they are so long at 4 hours a pop that when they do come around plus the big matches they could’ve saved for PPV are given away a bit. WWE are guilty of that same thing as well.

I honestly think the old WWE/F model was simple and straightforward. Once a month as long as they kept the storylines straightforward. Though saying that, the network/TV pressure to put on weekly shows is vastly different now to back in the day.

That rating is rough. Think it's time to get that belt off Hangman and probably on Punk. Kenny looking better in hindsight.

That match was too good for TV, but I'm still glad they did it. Winter is coming is one of their contracted specials, so they needed a big match. Danielson continues to over deliver and Hangman had no problem keeping up.

Page beating Omega to put a book-end to that crescendo from a storyline perspective made a lot of sense, but while that was a great feel-good moment and can see what they’ve been trying to do, his gap while Danielson has been destroying the Dark Order has hurt them. He should be trying to fuck Danielson up the minute that first match happened…hell even during his promo.

He should have been Stone Colding Bryan’s arse right after that promo and after every match Bryan went too far but no just let him sit back and have Bryan destroy his buddies. It’s not compelling TV really just having him sit on his arse.

While Page more than delivered on that match, the build-up with him was pish. If they did that better then maybe just maybe ratings/interest might have improved.

What did people think the rating was going to be? Wasn't it right around a million? That's literally all they can pull.

Tbh going a lot on what Defrost said about the rating (haven’t looked up the actual number tbf) but guessing the TV and what this number turned out to be could have maybe been improved if they built the storyline better than what they did in the build up.

It seems that no matter how good or bad a storyline is it doesn't really move the needle that much. They're hovering around 900,000-1 million viewers consistently on TV. I don't know how you got all that from Mr New Japan wishing Kenny Omega hadn't lost the title to Page and CM Punk should get it now.

Besides all that, why you so hardass about people having a laugh about Hook? If Tazz was Dr Honeydew, it’s like an athletic Muppet Beaker breaking out of his shell kicking arse! I thought Sheamus pulled off the Beaker look but Hook does it good!

Nash, instrad of trying trying to have a laugh about how you think people are being silly when they’re not being really serious, why not chill and be silly with us instead of being passive-aggressive? Though you know your wrestling shit, this could make you around here…well more likeable. Mellow out man! Just a thought.

Nothing but tight butthole vibes over here my man. Just not trying to be told how to post in a thread. Come on man, 10-15 years I've been posting and popularity was never my thing my guy.

We know. I could question further why you still post when you’re more than aware that it ingratiates people but not the right thread for this so you continue to do what you do and we end this.

Wrestling is a dying breed. It will take a crossover star to ever change the needle. All the stars they have now pro wrestling fans love, not the average Joe.

Average Joe has not posted for some time, and tbh his jokes were as bad if not worse than yours.

Btw still helluva not forgotten what you said though mellowed out!

That match was awesome and so glad I watched it on FITE. Adverts would have really taken away from it.

You need to stop speaking for people. This whole "we" thing. If you only post here as some lame attempt at being popular, you need to unplug and look into finding a new vice. Maybe get a job, a girl/boy, a life, I'm pretty sure your profession isn't message board friend maker.

Speaking of the club, instead of Roderick Strong Jr's mom dropping him off in the van she should've dropped him off at the club so he could get that hair back.

They were wild in very different ways. I'm curious how the finish for the 10-man comes across because it seemed wonky in the moment. The submission match seemed pretty good too.

Danielson was such a great heel during the match. There was definitely a stretch where the crowd just stood up for a good chunk of the match and it wasn't near the finish. Definitely a fun ride.

That's perfect. Homage to the King of Harts by having two KOTR tournaments. Extremely excited to see who will be part of it. One of the best parts of AEW is the amount of tournaments we get a year. I wish more companies would follow suit.

Shout out to Tony Khan because this should make people want to check out "Tony Time" more often. A huge announcement like this honoring Owen Hart and his family and they just had too much going on that was stellar on Dynamite--they transition it to Tony Time to get us to check that out. I'm not really sure what Tony Time is in AEW, I know what it is in WWE and I like it.

Well there will be more info on Rampage. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a few debuts of men and women during this tournament. I'd be surprised if they overlooked Ember Moon/Athena as long as she's healthy. Keith Lee would be the other one I'd expect. Their non-competes were up like 1st week of February though so I guess it all depends on when the tournament is.

This would be a great time to debut David Benoit. Keep it Canadian heavy. Do any of the Harts have kids/grandkids trying to break in?

I wonder when Killer Kross' non-compete will be up. Keith Lee, future AEW World champion. If he came in through that tournament he should win it.

Maybe if it's like 8 people each they could have a men's week of Dynamite and a women's week where they have the semi finals on Rampage?

It's not til May so who knows what the roster looks like then with a lot of guys and girls non-competes up in February and some peoples contracts undoubtedly not getting renewed.

Part of me hopes they have main stars in it more but I'll understand if they don't.

When the bucks and Cole deliver the 3 way super kick, it just looks awkward for Bobby Fish.

At least let him do a countdown or something. Poor guy looks like he's not been invited to the super kick party

Feels like the tournament to crown the first TBS champion has been going on forever. My interest has been steadily declining every week.

If I'm understanding the Hook reaction it's that people are purposely being tongue in cheek that he's incredible but in reality he's just pretty good for where he's at in experience.

Well he won the Hardcore title and did a pretty good job in the day avoiding his detractors in hotel rooms, airports and Funland ball zones!

Roman wasn’t built in a day before he got to where he was. Give Hook time!

Dustin Hoffman did though. As did Robin Williams. Isn't that just like Hook winning an Oscar?

I love the Hook movie poster where instead of putting Taz's son as Capt Hook they photoshopped his head on Peter Pan's body........That's like having a group shot of the Justice League and you photoshop Hurricane Helms' head on Batman.

I would blame capitalism for this but probably should be the other way about.

If you're really doing the opposite of blaming capitalism for Hook's christmas work commitment, you are crediting Hook for capitalism's holiday pto policies.
