It would've made sense if Vince was still there, or if any of the allegations against Vince from his former personal sex worker were found to be true. A couple years ago it would've been a nice burn but the fact is he lifted that from people on Twitter and thought he was slick. They immediately were like whoa hold up kid faking a neck injury while athletes are legit paralyzed from the neck down we don't need this Weinstein bullshit.

Tribalism is another one of those cornball words the AEW cult manifested when the going got tough. Look at Morrison, The guy is practically begging Tony to Weinstein him.

And Collision based NBA logic for a moment outside of the flagship show is dumb. I'm not sure how advocating for Swerve to get more run is not being a wrestling fan.
being concerned about maximizing every minute of the program from a booking standpoint, as a fan sitting at home, is just wild shit to me at this stage of life. especially when it's something like this that honestly would have little real knock on effect for swerve or the program in general.

Maybe they'll do something big with Swerve next week, setting up his next feud, as I'm sure people will tune in to see the fallout from Khan/Elite.

Remember the last time they used the nba for a lead-in and it led to black twitter calling Chris Jericho fat?

I'll admit that I have not seen more than maybe 5 matches of hers and she was ok but her look....She's beautiful, incredible body. I remember she used to be with Nick Aldis kind of like his "Chyna" so to speak. AEW could use her for sure. She's someone who they can build as a top contender immediately with the core fanbase due to her reign as women's champion. I wouldn't be shocked if she has a title of some kind within a year.

Been wondering that myself. Can't wait for her to get back and into the title mix.

The women's division is starting to really come along.

They've got potential to make some progress.

If you go back a little bit, seems weird to think that Britt and Hayter are pretty much absent.

Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs being the most egregious examples. How those two aren’t top guys blows my fucking mind.

Tony is bringing in people so those people get pushed down. And to be fair Ricky's had a few injuries I think Hobbs is also hurt right now too but Ricky had the neck injury that kind of took him out. Maybe Tony is trying to squeeze whatever juice he can from these top guys he's bringing in like Edge, Ospreay, Okada, and then he can get back to plugging in the lesser known guys.

Thing is, there's always going to be another one of those guys. He actually would have to have the discipline to say no.

The problem with being in his position, raised in the world he was raised in, he doesn't have that discipline. That's not even me knocking the guy it's just the reality of having nobody but yourself to answer to. He has the money to sign anyone for any amount. The problem is, if you're a fan of the people who have been there from the start that weren't already big names like Jericho, Mox, or the Elite crew, you are going to take a backseat more and more. Like I'm worried where MJF fits in when he comes back. He's not just someone who is going to love being booked in a trios feud with The Acclaimed because 7 figures hit the bank account. But this is also why you have guys like Edge in the midcard after being in the main event of the top company of all time for 90% of your career. It's like when Ric Flair was the IC champion after Evolution like what? lol.

I'm fine with it cause jericho didn't win clean. if anything, it made me want a rematch, which is not something I'd thought I'd be saying about a match involving present day jericho.

Dynamite was such a weird energy last night because I liked most of the storylines going on, but the crowd was pretty weak for a lot of it, other than surprisingly Jericho/Shibata lol. Shibata is still the fucking man.

Christian is the perfect first opponent for Swerve. Feels big, has history, and Christian will get a lot of heat outside of Winnipeg to help cement Swerve as a Babyface.

Cope/Matthews was weird and had its pace killed by whatever happened with that crossbody, but I'm into the program with HoB otherwise.

Willow is delightful and her match with Skye Blue was wild. Think there's gonna be a lot of meat to her stuff with Mercedes.

Deonna's turn will be a nice switch-ups since she wasn't getting momentum, and I like that it's spilled out of the feud with Toni organically, giving her and Thunder Rosa something to do instead of just fading after their title shots.

The ending angle was awesome. Kenny cutting one of his best live promos, the faceoff with Okada, and then the Elite beat down that hit harder and felt more visceral than the TK attack.

I actually enjoyed the FTW match. Shitbata is so awesome and Jericho was entertaining as well. My family constantly makes fun of all the stuff under the ring and so when my son walks in and see hockey pucks he was like what the fuck. lol

I like Christian as the first person for Swerve.

I do like that they are turning Deonna. She works better as the heel.

I am happy to see Serena get a title shot even if she doesn't win. I wish she would get one of the women's titles at some point though. She is so good.

I did like the stuff with Omega and the Elite and looking forward to seeing how all of this plays out.

Omega's bump when he got dumped in the gurney was tremendous. He flew like a foot away from it and landed hard on his side. I want to say he bounced but I can't remember that clearly, only that he got my sympathy when that happened.

That was a tremendous show, although I did miss some of it.

Omega cut a nice promo last night and I think what helped is he was being about as real as possible. I've given him a helping of shit about his character/mic work in AEW but he's slowly winning me over with these clips I see of him playing video games calling out nerds trying to talk shit about Roman for example.

Christian v. Swerve....It wasn't my first choice but there's a little history from 8-9 months ago. I'm just a super fan of Christian so while I don't really understand how Christian is the #1 contender to the World title, the match will be good.

I heard Tony lost the latest rankings sheet at the NFL draft so it was just whoever came out first.

Seriously though, storyline wise it makes no sense but business wise Christian is a great 1st choice to work with swerve. Christian will keep that heat on him and keep the babyface love on swerve. Work rate, mic and segments will all be on point.

Looks like Ethan Page has left. I really like him but that were not doing a lot with him and he was pretty much just working ROH. He has started his wrestling company back up and what not so probably wanted to do other things.

Another body that Tony needed but he never really knew what to do with him. Tony is good at keeping the same thing going for people who come from other places. There's no real original ideas in AEW everything is a continuation of something people were already doing. What was Ethan Page prior? TNA tag champ? Not really a top guy and look at his run in AEW. He has a good look, very good in the ring, awesome on the mic. But they have playing 2nd fiddle to Scorpio Sky. Sky is a good wrestler but he's boring as fuck and has never felt natural whether that was teaming with Daniels and Kazarian or being a multi time TBS champ.

Page in WWE wouldn't be a shocker. If he returned to TNA and rejoined Josh Alexander or maybe even feuded with him that wouldn't shock me either. But if he's going to go to WWE they would probably snatch him up now he's mid 30's probably has a good 10 years left in the tank barring any injuries.

no mention of Chris Daniels' bloody eye after the eye-poke. come on, Schivoney.

Darby Allin is insane to be wrestling after that broken foot. there were at least 4 broken bones in his foot two months ago.

So Swerve's first PPV challenger is...Christian Cage?

And at their biggest PPV, no?

For me personally, not much interest from me in AEW anymore, which is a shame. Plenty of good performers, sure, but there's no hook, no pun intended. Good wrestling for the sake of good wrestling will only get you so far.

That said, I must get around to seeing Ospreay and Danielson, which is me somewhat contradicting what I just said.

Always try to end on a positive, nice to see Willow being given some time to shine. A personality in a division lacking it.

May not be there next year...

Very curious as to how ticket sales go this year. A good chance I leave it to the last week and go this year, with my lad.

Aye, I've booked travel but not buying tickets until start of August see what deal I can get.

I really should go. I'm a 55 minute drive away, though would likely take the train. So don't even need to worry about accommodation. And the next day is a bank holiday, so no work or school to worry about.

When you're a billionaire you just do shit because you can I guess lol. IDK. Last year didn't feel as big as some of their shows. It felt very lazy, like with MJF wrestling twice...what the hell was that about? You have 900 people on your roster and a match that could've aired on Dynamite and told the same story is your pre-show....

I imagine this year they will try to make it a bigger deal. Probably Swerve doing the job to William and then the return of MJF.

Kyle O'Reilly and Malakai Black should be the new Benoit vs Sullivan feud of pure sports versus pure evil, minus the bathroom stalls.

Trent's spear on the outside in the opening match was a thing of beauty. Goldberg/Rhyno level thing of beauty, to be accurate.

Nick Wayne versus Swerve Strickland was like Christian versus The Rock 23 years ago. No way should someone that young be that convincing against Swerve at this point; awesome showing by Christian Is My Father. Swerve rules, and so does Christian; I'm hooked!

Okay Darby Allin and fire making the save like that was NOT on the Badger bingo card!

Swerve vs Christian is intriguing and I personally like how is being booked. The only thing I’d say about it is maaaybe this feud should’ve been done later on in Swerve’s reign as the outcome is obvious.

    PS where’s MJF?

Ahh, see I thought it was maybe Christian's turn ... again.

I don't know why some guys appear to be so much bigger outside of WWE rings, but Swerve and Christian look huge these days. If there weren't so many belts seen over the course of Dynamite, I think the angle would be more memorable for everyone watching, but as it is, it's a really convincing main-event feud. It's really what's got me watching for what will be my first AEW PPV. That and Black/Copeland, and I wasn't a Swerve or an Edge guy before.

I hope they, Swerve and Christian, go on last on Sunday.

I think Dynasty was ultimately better, but DoN had some insane moments, and Willow/Mercedes was special.

Kind of kicking myself that I didn't take advantage of that deal to get Dynasty/DoN/FD for like the price of one. I have seen some clips from last night and looks like there was some good stuff.

Which is sad when you think about it. Christian is awesome, but by now there should be 20 guys doing it better. IDK how he's going to elevate Swerve when Christian is basically a midcarder magically in a title match because 8 months ago they lost a goofy coffin match. With that said, everyone just kind of feels like they're on the same level. There is absolutely nobody that I see on the roster that is the alpha, no matter what Jim Ross says. I'm not saying AEW needs to rely on one guy but the World champion in AEW has not felt like the man since CM Punk. And he was barely the man. I mean fuck they even made that dork Hangman seem like he was actually the best guy despite how boring he is. It was like back in 1981 you knew Bob Backlund was the #1 guy.

Yeah pretty much. Loved how he was doing the old school leather and denim.

Some good stuff on the show. Swerve/Christian in particular was fun with the overbooking. Anarchy in the Arena was something else, although that fire spot was probably a bit OTT though.

It’s a biit of a stretch with the Bucks being so powerful they can physically push around the owner because of “iron clad contracts”.

It’ll be fun though when MJF eventually gets to tangle with them.

Fireball Jack Perry should be the obvious choice. The EVPs should just gift him the title and then hold it until Edge comes back from injury.

The guy already has go away heat but if they're going to push him as the messiah (with both thumbs wink wink) at least give me a real reason to hate his character. Right now it's too inside. AEW is 99.9% smark so we know the story but it still makes no sense and the execution has been horrible. So why not just say here you go. Fuck another tournament you've heard it little buddy you got set on fire then 2 minutes later pinned arguably the greatest wrestler of his generation.

The worst thing they could for Jack is have a tournament and have him win it. That's too predictable even if he had interference the entire way. It'd be a good plan D. Just give him the strap and he can have an Orton-IC title type run with it.

ETA for a return would be around 4-5 months but who knows. He's older but he looks like Wolverine so maybe he will heal up in time to get his TNT title back.

I could see Mark Henry. It seems like a lot of people were not fans of Arn and Swagger....IDK. IF he wanted to I still don't see them picking him back up. But I also don't know if he'd want to go back.

From what I gathered, Arn and Mark were coaches, but the talent in AEW didn't seem to want to be coached, so maybe they'll be a better fit in WWE under Triple H.

Arn has ties with Cody too, right? Maybe HHH can give Henry a great retirement match/story.

Swagger had potential but yeah like @Hero! said, he sucks.

My bad D I was speaking about people in WWE not being high on Arn. It seems a lot of wrestlers over the years said him and Malenko were probably 2 of the worst agents because they kissed so much corporate ass. But kissing ass or not, Arn Anderson is the fuckin man even if it was just to make an Arn Anderson blu ray lol

I thought Swagger was your boy before Braun??

I would like to see Arn go back to WWE and be a producer or coach like he was before. Don't care about Swagger or Henry and what they do from here.

Henry likely returning to WWE for the legends deal, maybe as a NXT trainer.

Swagger would be a decent addition to the WWE midcard, I guess.

I'm willing to see if it becomes a 4-way with a CMLL and New Japan guy added but having Ospreay win the AEW title shot at the crossover event seems dumb

Yeah I expected the gauntlet to be full of New Japan and CMLL guys and not really AEW guys since in the past title shots are giving to people from other companies.

I really wish they’d just handed the belt to Jack. Would have been an awesome heat tactic and AEW really doesn’t need another tournament.

That’s the point. Gifting the title to a dweeb like jungle jack would make for great heat.

I dunno man. Dweeb title for heat is getting dangerously Russo-esque.

Maybe we all just calm this down before someone starts suggesting that TK award the title to himself after a fingerpoke of doom.

It’s one of the 16 or so titles they have, it’s fine.

For a second I was like hey they finally took one of my ideas (gift Perry the TNT title) and used it the right way and then they fucked it up like they always do when I suggest things to Tony.

Ospreay v. Swerve. IDK why it matters if it's a crossover show or not to have a title change. This match isn't a crossover which makes it even less cool. I have to agree with Kevin Nash. Will Ospreay is who they should have as champion, as their #1 guy. Swerve...IDK if he was ever really in the plans to be champion at this point. Some think Bruvspreay won't win because he just won the International title but I don't see that as being an issue either. If the guy is the "Billy GOAT" why would he not have multiple titles this early? Lance Storm won 3 titles I think in WCW within a month lol.

The path to Vince Russo is paved with extra titles.

I think it was good for Swerve to have a run. I honestly think that after a year of disappointing pay-offs (not all-but way too many), AEW needed to give their fans a pay-off for the Swerve rise. That being said, Ospreay needs to be established as "different'. He should quickly get to a level where he has a unique accomplishment. Whether it's multiple titles or winning a new tournament that encompasses every other tournament, or some other such promotion appropriate level up. That guy needs to be established as a top level player.

    Not according to wikipedia.

Though it does say he has Alzheimer's and doesn't recognize family members so maybe that idea isn't good

Collision had a couple of bangers in Jonny TV/Claudio and Ospreay/KOR.

It’s a shame Kyle has the personality of a piece of wood as he is great in the ring.

AEW has lots of those. Roderick Strong, Castagnoli, Yuta, Deeb etc.

Might be harsh on Claudio actually, that, he's a step above those others.

At least in Strong’s case, he has shown big improvements in this “neck strong” heel run than he ever has so that’s a plus.

Claudio does have personality (see UUDD, Da Party, he is as great if not greater at puns than Donald and I lol) but hasn’t been booked that way other than “five different languages”. He’s more booked as a silent strong badass.

I'd fuck Cesaro up in a pun contest.

Cesaro's the one guy I wish would be in WWE. I'd like a The Bar reunion. Couple of old timers still kicking ass.

The Bar are possibly my favourite tag team of the last decade. Loved their matches and that pairing.
