So the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission warned Tony to not have Nyla wrestle a woman again after she was on a show back in December. Fucking pricks. Tony is standing up for Nyla.

Rating dropped back down to 762, proving that CM Punk is still AEW’s biggest draw.

Taking this with a grain of salt because of the source that Perry is done with his run in New Japan and will be at Dynasty this Sunday and involved in the ladder match. But you know when he doesn't show up "plans change". Trying to see if I see it reported anywhere else. I mean I know he is going to be back at some point and sort of makes sense for this but I am kind of lets wait and see kind of guy. lol

I expect Perry probably shows up considering the recent Bucks interview and how they specifically made reference to him during the All In footage. Though it seems kinda weird if the run in New Japan is just done after that.

Yeah guess he had his blow off at the Chicago show but didn't he join the House of Torture. I wouldn't be surprised to see him continue to at least do shows in the US.

I assume the plan for Jack will be one of two things: He's either going to help FTR win or he's going to be the 4th man in the new Elite. I feel like the intention is going to get as much heat off Tony Khan as they can either way. Get as much of it on the Bucks/Elite. Worst case scenario, Tony Khan makes a huge mistake and makes himself an on screen character.

With that said, show looks pretty solid. I think we're all in agreement that the top 3 matches on paper are Joe/Swerve, PAC/Okada, and Will/Dragon.

He has no choice and honestly he was pretty smart about it. He didn't really give a yes/no on whether or not they'll come back as some of their fans want AEW to boycott OK and I understand why after reading about how difficult their athletic commission is.

Here's my thing....I get that pro wrestling has an influence on the youth, on weak minded adults, but it's no different than video games, movies, tv shows. Honestly the influence from wrestling is very small compared to those mediums of entertainment. I have my opinion on if Nyla Rose decided she wanted to do MMA for example but this is pro wrestling. If we accepted Stone Cold dropping Chyna or Stephanie with a stunner why not this?

I heard that WB called Tony and said hey I know you and your roster and some of your fans don't care about ratings but good job either way. The fuck....lol

Storm hasn't had too many standout matches since she won the title, but I have faith that her and Thunder Rosa will turn out something intense.

At the end of the day the athletic commissions really should not have any control over pro wrestling. It is entertainment and it kills me that in many states including my own that it still falls under them. I mean any more on the independents we see inter gender wrestling all the time. Plus more and more trans and non-binary wrestlers are out there now. I would like to see him boycott OK but at the end of the day not fair to the fans of AEW in OK. Next time he is there I bet he books her and pays whatever fine they throw at him.

As long as Rosa doesn't sandbag.

Actually I expect this to be a good match.

Honestly, other than Jericho/Hook, it's not a bad card. The Top 3 and the women's matches are just the main ones that feel like they have the most stake/impact. But I also get the vibe the Cope & Friends vs. HoB 6-man is gonna hit like the Sting/Darby/Friends tag matches where it felt thrown together but ends up being the wildest shit on the show.

12 matches seems a bit much. I think they need to trim the number of matches on the PPVs. I know some are on the pre-show but still. I'd rather have 6 or 7 matches given ample time.

They will give plenty of time to most of the matches I bet. I mean yeah they could probably trim it a bit. By a bit I mean get rid of the Hook/Jericho match

6-7 seems a bit light. 8 matches for a 3 hour main card feels right. In this case we have 9 for what'll probably be a 3.5-4 hour show, and then 3 that are on the pre-show. So to be honest, it's pretty tame for an AEW PPV. Normally they'd be squeezing more of those pre-show matches onto the main card.

It's a good job her character work has been on another level. Wonder what happened to Baker, and when's Hayter coming back?

Just when I start to think A.E.W. is too lacking that someone special, I find out R.V.D. is back.

I want to see R.V.D. every time I watch A.E.W. to see how his yoga techniques of staying healthy hold up in trying to keep up with young bucks (not those young bucks, although I'd like to see them try to show him up, too).

Extremely predictable but good card. This was the first time I think in my entire life I guessed the winners correctly.

Swerve winning as the highlight. He'll get a nice run before dropping the title to the Bruv at Wembley.

This was so much to be at. I do believe I had predicted all the winners or close to it but didn't take away from overall great show they put on.

I hate that the TBS title match was short. I would have enjoyed a longer match there over the Jericho/Hook stuff.

The crowd was a little dead for some of the ladder match I think from all the excitement from the Ospreay/Danielson match

He said that their entire library would be up in 2025 but didn't say where. I assume they'll just do kind of like TNA has done where they just do it on their own platform or use Youtube. It didn't sound like they were going to be on MAX which sucks for them.

They have the ROH platform so they could just put everything there but MAX would be good but doesn't sound like it is happening.

So Cole was giving the stink eye to Wardlow. Guess he gets kicked out of the group soon as we continue to not book him well.

I watched Danielson/Ospreay and thought it was a very, very good match. Not the greatest match ever like Alvarez seems to think, but very, very good.

Is there an update on Danielson? He looked hurt at the end.

I think they're trying to sell it like they did with Omega after he took the tiger driver and it looked brutal. The real fucked up spot that nobody is really talking about is when Danielson went to do the top rope hurricanrana and landed on his fucking head/neck. Every angle I saw, he looked fucked up.

Eh, I didn’t like that finish because it just pulled me out of the moment.

either A) Danielson was hurt, which would suck or B) they’re using a ref and ringside doc as an angle in what’s been a straight up wrestling match. It feels out of place.

Everything usually feels out of place when you watch AEW that's part of them being an "alternative" I guess lol.

Like why is Tony Khan always sitting with the talent at the post ppv pressers? He looks like a drug addict they put a suit on to play "Tony Khan" Fuckin billionaire can't even get a haircut, can't shave that stubble it took him 4 years to grow. At least the ninja isn't hugging everyone like a weird dork.

i think the finish itself was fine, though the aftermath definitely took the wind out of the sails, but i figure that was by design. the tiger driver and if it's a 'worthwhile move' were specifically referenced right after the match was announced, and the story throughout comms during the match, especially from don, set them up nicely for the continued break between will and the rest of the callis family.

I actually missed this when watching it live from the angle I was sitting. I have seen clips and was like oh fuck.

I'm going to defend Jericho beating Hook. It feels like he's leaning into the smarky crowds opinion of him and him going over here is smart for two reasons. Sells him as a delusional vet AND it gets Hook away from the FTW title. It's never had any cred. It made sense when Taz introduced it but after the beat Douglas for the World title, there was no need for it. I just feel like trying to use something like that in the modern era feels super dated. The only time since ECW's demise would it have worked is during the resurrection on SyFy. They could've had Taz as a coach/mentor to someone and they carry around the FTW title because the brass won't give his guy a title shot against (Insert name). Or MAYYYYBE when Taz was Samoa Joe's mentor in TNA.

Hook is someone that I'm not really a fan of right now as it is because of how goofy he's been treated more often than not. AEW did the Taker/Jeff Hardy thing with him and Joe and that probably made some fans and other promotions see him in a different light than the good looking good who does his Dad's moveset with his Dad's made up title from 1998.

I think there's definitely more potential in Hook being a tough but scrappy underdog who won't quit as opposed to the monster who'll dominate you. He can still be a hard ass, but give more gravity to it.

For what it's worth, I actually didn't hate the Jericho/HOOK match, and I agree that if he's ever to actually grow and become properly integrated into the roster, he had to lose the FTW title.

But I'm also not exactly looking for what could be a Jericho FTW run, especially if it's just to give Hook the belt back.

That's why you can't put any stock in the FTW title because it has no real purpose. So Jericho, in his delusional state of mind, he's a great choice because he'll act like it's on par with the World title. It'll be very tongue in cheek where half the crowd gets it and the other half thinks it's a shoot. The last thing they should do is put it back on Hook UNLESS they're going to retire it and Taz wants his son as the last champ.

Jericho's gonna face Hook for the world title in 10 years, when Hook is 34 and Jericho 63.

AEW isn't WCW 2000 but they just did some straight up Vince Russo bullshit tonight lol. What in the absolute fuck was Tony Khan doing out there? Punched in the stomach and takes a bump like he was tasered. That was Vince taking a stunner bad.

Now let's wait for the obvious-Tony Khan is going to be the Bischoff of the Elite only it'll be like Russo leading the New Blood lol.

This was arguably the worst wrestling show I've seen in my life and that covers almost 40 years of watching wrestling. I also admit I've never watched every minute of wrestling that's ever existed but from what I have personally seen....There was just something off from the jump. I felt kind of bad for the fans of AEW who are super fucking smart and continue to play along. It's sad.

I'm sorry... AEW jumped the shark with that tonight.

The crowd didn't even care, in their "home"... that should tell you everything.

Tony has zero charisma, he looks like a make-a-wish kid when he's in the ring with them.. and don't even get me started with his acting, or lack thereof. Not helped by the fact Jack Perry and the Bucks are also hardly capable neither. I don't know man.... felt like a shit ending to me. I don't want or need Tony Khan out there. What's he going to do next, have vignettes dedicated to him being in a wheelchair like Roderick Strong?

I mean whilst back in the day WWE did this with McMahons (they were interchangeable) to death for 15-20 years and even then that felt slightly better than this -- and AEW never do this, really, and it comes off really flat.

Can't wait for Omega Vs Okada, Tony Kahn Sharkcage match at Double or Nothing 2025.

I didn't hate the ending last night but didn't like it either. I am meh on it. Was it really needed to go the direction they are going? Maybe? I don't know. The only thing that makes me lean a little towards not liking it more than liking it was the fact they brought out his dad at the end and tried to blend into reality. I am not against that stuff because we are seeing with Ospreay and Danielson but I don't think Khan really needs to be involved in angles. Things were fine without that.

I will say kudos to Khan for going out there and taking a punch and the Meltzer Driver.

Kudos......ffs This is why it's impossible to take any die hard AEW fan seriously when they still pander to Tony Khan. Look, maybe you're one of those fans waiting for a DM from the guy waiting for him to drop 7 figures in your bank account but come on maaaaan.

The only way you can save face is if you also give kudos to Vince McMahon for the stunner he took at Mania 38. If not...

That segment was a backyard wrestling version of Great American Bash 1996.

I mean, I get that it was the first real bump Tony's ever had to take that didn't involve a straw but holy shit maybe next time give him the straw.

This show made me want to watch the last Nitro with Bam Bam Bigelow v. Shawn Stasiak.

    The punch was hilarious

The Meltzer Driver was effective with the obvious idea that his head is gonna be protected.

Only reason I won't like this segment is if the plan is to make Tony a consistent on-screen figure. Keep him off TV for a couple weeks, have him do like one other segment where he has some sort of announcement as a result of their actions, and then get back to the occasional appearance for announcements or backstage easter eggs.

Was the segment needed? I don't know about that. But it made sense for Perry, made the Bucks seem more despicable, and it was a line that hadn't been crossed in AEW before. For me, it's more about the follow-up.

For fucks sakes. This is why people think you are shit at times and why I periodically put you on ignore. I am not pandering to TK. If I wanted to pander to TK I would I don't know go out on social media or other places where he may actually fucking see it and tag the hell out of him. For fuck sakes. Heaven forbid someone not shit on something that you think it shit. If we don't we are die hard fans that pander to TK. You do this like every fucking time. Gets old as fuck.

TK went out there and took a bump. Was it good? No because he is not a fucking trained wrestler. Was Vince's bumps good when he first started doing them. Fuck no clearly. Because he was not a trained wrestler. I have always giving kudos to Vince for going out there and taking bumps and doing matches and doing things that he was asking the wrestlers to do. When Gronk was worried about that bump he was going to do from up high to the people below for the 24/7 title bit at WrestleMania Vince did it first to show him he could do it and not be scared. That is all I am getting at with saying kudos for TK going out there and doing that. He went out and did something that they guys do. Again was it necessary. Probably not. I am not praising the segment but I am not shitting on it either. Again I said I am meh on it for the most part. I don't think he actually needs to be involved in angles and be an on screen person.

I think you would like a dog poop ladder match if AEW put it on and every promotion needs that kind of support.

Only one word can describe that segment: "Cinema"

Someone said Tony had been waiting 5 years for this moment. I agree. It's pretty much every single wrestling fan's dream to have been or one day be part of something. Shit most of us go bananas when we're seen 5th row on tv for 2 miliseconds. We have to remember this is the guy who gave people stunners after the show ended. Anyone who isn't waiting for the shoot interviews from wrestlers who were cringing backstage is a liar.

That was a dogshit show and a half.

I knew it wasn't going to be a good one as soon as Swerve came out. First time champion at the 'top of the mountain', made a big deal of him being the first black AEW champion at the end of the PPV... Then he comes out to have a standard TV match. No words, no fanfare, nothing. Then to make it even less important they cut away during it to show those muppets walking into an office.

To be honest that pissed me off way more than the hokey ending.

Yeah they are doing his first interview this Saturday. He should have had fanfare at this show. He still could have had a match but it should have been a bigger deal of it being his first show as champ and the focus was on this other stuff.

I heard an old interview with Tony where he said he didn't want to be an on screen character because it would take away screen time from the wonderful wrestlers he has. He just wanted to be ok screen to make special announcements

It didn't bother me as much as I think it will others because I assume it's a one off. I'm guessing the idea is that the new version of the Elite decided that to continue to 'change the world', Khan had to go and this is their way of writing him out/making way for the Bucks to be fully in charge of the shows.

Not that I think that is going to be a good thing in the slightest...

Is Shahid Khan usually at these AEW events?

I'd love for him to be like a final boss type character and gather a group of wrestlers to take out the Elite Solving Tony's problems because Tony is too weak to do it himself. But Shahid still loves him, because family.

I feel bad for Swerve. This guy just won the World title and not only does he have a terrible match for no reason, the only thing we're talking about is the worst angle since Claire and AJ Styles in TNA.

683K/.23 for Dynamite after not only a PPV, but the “greatest match in North America” or whatever.

I will say this. That's a shit number even for 2024 but I'm curious what next week's ratings will be. You have to remember, sometimes you don't see the upswing until a 2-3 months down the road when the payoff approaches. With that said...this is not it.

They were doing better with Takeshita in the main four weeks ago, that's my guess. Takeshita draws because we all basically 'take sh*t' in various ways. Plus, he's a good, tall, strong, and handsome wrestler.
"Swerve"-ing in traffic can get one pull'd over by the cops, not good...
Push Takeshta: get the ratings back on track.

I see a lot of stiff shots as unnecessary in wrestling, but I basically hate still seeing Swerve kill people with that kick to the head.

When Punk and AEW stans collide.

As a reminder, there wasn't much of a Punk bump last summer, despite him being a talented performer who objectively helped the show. It wasn't exactly the Summer of Punk all over again. CM Punk is better than anyone in wrestling history when it comes to making returns after extended absences. And you will get a bump there. But the bump quickly fades. That's not me not respecting him as on-air performer. That's just viewership reality.

Just my opinion, but I think that this is more to do with AEW having a poor creative run. I don't give a shit that Collision might have a good lead in on Saturday. To not feature Swerve in a big moment on Dynamite is fucking stupid. You have two very talented performers in Swerve and Ospreay. You need to be making sure they hit on all cylinders. Giving flowers to Joe, Eddie, etc is not as important as giving compelling stories to these two when it comes to driving viewership.

I like Mox but I saw more promos on their twitter feed for his win than I did for Swerve.

AEW needs focus. I stopped watching weekly at some point during the build to the original forbidden door because it seemed like the great story-telling from early AEW was gone in favor of booking weekly “dream matches” or have random people show up once covid restrictions were gone.

Cut the number of belts down, put tons of focus on Swerve, Ospreay, Willow as top young stars, get anything ROH related the fuck off TV, and shoot more backstage angles where the AEW wrestlers seem like real human beings again.

Also get Chris Jericho out of the ring and strictly into a manager role.

"Reports" say the reason for not having Swerve do a promo and waiting until Saturday is they are hoping for an up take of viewers due to the playoffs leadup to the shows. Meh. You still should have done more on Dynamite.

Because Swerve is at the max and deserves not to get the min.

And Collision based NBA logic for a moment outside of the flagship show is dumb. I'm not sure how advocating for Swerve to get more run is not being a wrestling fan.
