Like he doesn't need to be a big babyface to do those matches. Especially since Moxley and Danielson basically go back and forth depending on who they are facing. I am sure at some point Moxley is going to call Okada out.

I think you are letting your hatred for the Bucks color your opinion on what they are doing with Okada. Clearly we are not on the same page and that is fine. I think it is way to early to say that they have fumbled Okada though.
They're going to make Okada walk through shit for 6 months to get to where I want him. IDC what other fans want so if that sounds selfish-good. I don't watch wrestling in hopes that everyone else likes what I like. I don't want to see Kazuchika Okada, the Roman Reigns of Japanese wrestling going after some goof with a title that's on the level of say having Kenta Kobashi come to WCW so he win the Hardcore title from Lance Storm because "matches".

It's not so much hate for the Young Bucks as it is the reality of where they are in their careers. They never really bothered me until they started acted like little girls about the CM Punk ass beating they took. All that pettiness that bleeds into the show, it's made them look goofy and anyone associated with them immediately looks stupid. If I gave a fuck I would be like, am I the only one saying this is a dumbass move? Absolutely not. People like you are the minority here but again, there are fans of pro wrestling and then there are whatever it is people who think this is cool is. Not saying you think it's the greatest shit ever but I'm shocked you didn't say AEW are back!

Ultimately if I were the booker, which I'm not, I would've done something drastically different. I wouldn't have this god tier talent come in and do goofy shit in a stable wrestling fat old dudes because I'm a mark. The way fans lose interest watching AEW is something to think about. Once upon a time Adam Cole was the game changer. So was Ibushi. So was Shawn Spears I think. At least they didn't make Okada the Devil but it would've been better than this shit.

They say game changer but they don't know what it means. They think it means putting in a new game to play so they treat wrestling like it's an emulator with 5,000 games. ADHD kicks in and you play 75 games in 2 hours and Meltzer gave it 48 stars, 1 for each blowjob he got from Ospreay.

Reports are saying that Okada is getting paid about $4 million a year. This is why I laugh when some fans think WWE fail at signing certain talents that AEW get because WWE, despite them being a billion $ company, aren't going to pay guys like Okada 4 mill a year.

It makes me wonder how much Tony offered Jade to stay in AEW because per his words he offered her more than WWE and she still turned it down-to his shock. Personally I'm not shocked considering we know that guys like Mark Henry and Big Show, who do absolutely fucking nothing, are getting north of a million a year. Moxley was the highest paid wrestler making $7 million a year, and that wasn't including merch or any other pay he received working other promotions. WTF? lol

Has anyone seen the newest interview with Sasha Banks/Mercedes talking about she's definitely going back to the WWE she just have a few things to finish outside of the company first? Maybe that's getting that Okada money lol.

Yeah I saw how much money is making and that Barry Bloom is his agent.

From what I have been hearing is that WWE won't get into bidding was over people. They make the offer that they are going to make after some talks and they figure if they want to come to the WWE they will come kind of like Jade. They really don't need to get into a bidding war with him. If people want to go there they will go there.

I still think WWE's roster is bloated and they don't even use everyone enough to justify bringing in people who may or may not get that over to justify paying 4-5 mill a year. This isn't as bad as Bischoff paying Lanny Poffo 7 figures for 3 years to do nothing but it's getting there. WWE had that stint of paying people to keep them from going to AEW (Good bros for example) an extreme amount of money. Once Vince realized AEW wasn't the 2nd coming of Nitro 1996 he was probably like fuck this. He also probably saw how little people like Adam Cole and the like did for NXT being on USA and realized there's no point in bringing in a Shinsuke Nakamura level wrestler from Japan if they can't outdraw the competition.

With all that said....I'm curious what Okada was making in NJPW. Could this have been a situation where Tanahashi and co. were like, go get that money because we still have a relationship with AEW so we'll work together anyway.

I'm also hearing Ospready, after 2 matches, is taking a break from AEW for a little while............That's a guy who learned a thing or two from getting roasted by Nash and Omega.

Quick update on Sammy---Apparently there was some miscommunication where the ref or the dr told him to "Go to the finish" so he hit the GTS but in a safe way (Shoulder not head). So even though Jeff was found not to be concussed it didn't matter. They didn't know at the time but still.....I think if you say "go to the finish" in this super scripted world we live in now with wrasslin, he wasn't thinking "Just pin him" like it was Sting v. Jeff Hardy lol.

I actually empathize a little with the kid because he got in trouble for tussling with Kingston who got butthurt over being called fat in a promo. He got in trouble for the squab with Andrade. Shit even before that he was in trouble being a dumb fuck about Sasha Banks when he was "younger".

If they said go to the finish and not just pin him then yeah that is not on Sammy. Because I can see the confusion of do we do the finish or just pin him because he is hurt or what. Ugh. Info keeps coming out so hard to really get a grasp of what happened.

Okada is a fantastic wrestler, but backing the truck up to pay him is crazy. He's not going to sell tickets anymore than the Omega's and Ospreay's already do. It just seems egregious to me. Wrestling isn't sports, you don't pay the best, you pay the ticket sellers. I like AEW and it's made wrestling fun again by existing, but I'm glad I'm not the accountant. Mercedes on the other hand is a huge get who should be their most pushed star if she can stay healthy.

Possibly a little too kick-out heavy at the end, which is common place in AEW, but I thought Ospreay and Fletcher on Dynamite was awesome.

Feel like they've been turning a bit of a corner recently, overall, as well. Just a bit, like.

I'm hoping they can. I like a lot of the guys individually they have, but I just do not find the TV too compelling right now. I still think Swerve has some room to grow, and don't expect his first run to be amazing. But get the belt on him, and get a program moving. For all the people that complained about the stagnancy during the MJF reign, I think we can see now that he wasn't the problem.

I think it is a huge mistake to draw it out.

I like Joe individually. I have found not much to be excited about in his championship reign. It's not compelling to me. Beyond seeing Joe get his flowers (which I'm not denying can be a nice moment, and is probably some validation for a lot of fans).....where is the hook?

Also, there's been a bit too much serious HOOK for me lately.

I would offer Future's bed and make him sleep on the couch but his room is scary. You would have been more than welcome and anytime you are this way and need a place to crash.

I have not seen Ospreay or Okada live so I am so stoked in general and then the fact we get this match makes it even better.

Along with the kiddos I am also bringing a new to AEW wrestling fan to the show, so excited for him to see this stuff live.

Danielson recently did an interview where stated that nothing needed to change with Dynamite because it's already a successful show. This guy is a sweetheart but he's also a dumbfuck when it comes to anything outside of having a great match. AEW lives off the bare minimum when it comes to success. As long as WB is cool with them getting around 400,000 viewers a show, there's no alarm. But you can't rely on TK buying every top guy/gal and Wembley.

In fairness, some of these people are used to dealing with the twitter crowd who insist that AEW is about to go old-school WCW.

And, let's be honest, a lot of us know how those people are. And you damn well know that Tony brings it up constantly. Because he has said that's how he spends the time before Rampage goes on the air.

And Dynamite doesn't really need to change to keep itself on the air. It does enough numbers in a 2024 environment where it will find a home. And the financial situation is much different than being part of a publicly traded (as was WCW). From a survival standpoint, Dynamite is fine.

I would just like to see it change so it becomes the show I think it could be, and I kinda think it was previously.

fite/triller currently have a bundle on sale for the next three AEW PPV'S(dynasty, double or nothing, forbidden door) for $50. so now would be a good time to jump on the fite wagon if you had been thinking about it.

No point. They need to move tickets and having her being at least hinted for the show probably got them more gate.

It just seemed like a 1 in a million chance she was actually going to show up. I'm glad she teased showing up because it made me tune in after the last fucking year of every single week being told she was going to show up in AEW and FINALLY....The Boss..has come back to.....wrestling.

I don't know why I find this to be such a weird comment lol. It's like I want to say....and? So his English is really good yet he still was like "Yeah let me be part of this bullshit" IDK, it's AEW. Promo ability is about as necessary as a pecker on a pope. Assuming because he's Japanese he wouldn't have the ability to speak English well....weird.

Please don't mess up Mercedes Tony. His track record with women's wrestling isn't very good.

I mean I was starting to wonder a little bit because the Bucks were doing all the talking but at the same time they have been friends for a long time. And as far as I know the Bucks are not fluent in Japanese like Omega is so figured he spoke good English. I was starting to wonder how long they were going to go with them doing like all the speaking though.

I am totally digging Okada the heel with the Bucks so far. I know just started but I like what I see.

Oh he will it's already happened. The upside for Mercedes though is that she's visually stunning and she CAN put on some really good matches with the right people. I'm a fan I just don't think I'm a big enough fan to care if Tony does anything of worth with her because in AEW despite him being the "guy" he is a pushover. So for me I just blame Tony AND the talent because we know that Tony doesn't know how to be a boss. He knows how to spend money, hug, and throw matches together in hopes something comes out of it. He's basically all of us if we were rich as fuck lol. We would be bowing down just like he is.

Baker just tweeted a Gif of her doing her DMD. We saw Mercedes basically doing the same thing with CEO. So maybe that is the first real feud or at least preparing us for that feud.

It'll set up something down the road. It looks like Mercedes is taking the CM Punk/Edge route by coming in and working with some younger talent in the midcard with the midcard belt. Maybe that leads to Mercedes v. DMD for the TBS title.

So we're just going to act like Wardlow getting choked out in 10 minutes like a bitch isn't a problem?

What did Wardlow do? Is it just another example of a muscular guy who's taller than 6ft getting too over? They fucking ruined this guy and they did a great job making him special. To the point where WWE were like hey Braun Strowman, you're the Wardlow of WWE go powerbomb jobbers repeatedly.

I just feel like here we have soft bodies and drunks as World champions, but the second a guy like Wardlow gets over it's nope, gotta have this old fat dude beat him again. If Kenny Omega was 6'2" he wouldn't have won the title because he's really the only World champion they've had who didn't look like a scrub. Even Hangman was soft, too much "beer".

It is a problem for sure. I have bitched before how they have fucked him and they did it again. I knew they were going to fuck him as soon as they announced the winner of the scramble match gets a title shot. I knew he would win and lose to Joe because they are not ready to take the belt off of Joe yet. And when they do probably going to Swerve. Not sure what he has done to deserve this. They build him up and then dick him over.

Saw a clip of Shibata and Danielson slapping the shit out of each other on social media. Each to their own, but I don't really get it. I will check the match out though, as I'm sure it's grand.

Those 'CEO' chants for Mercedes were already cringe/annoying to me after one show. God help me.

I'm deffo all in on Ospreay. Been a good few weeks for AEW, for me, of what I have seen.

He named her co-ceo. In 18 months, he will lose interest and she will be hanging out with Britt Baker wondering about life.

I gave up watching Collision a few months ago, as I'm back watching NXT. Not enough hours in the days! But I did spin through Collision last week, as wanted to see the House of Black/Briscoe/Lethal/Jarrett match. Was quite fun. But Collision seems to be a mix of squash matches and 'dream' matches and seems entirely missable, in the grand scheme of things. Will check out this week's opener with Danielson and Shibata though, after seeing social media raving about it.

Fair assessment, Collision is definitely more chill when it comes to sports entertainment caca and delves more into the wrestling. I’ve enjoyed most episodes, but this last one was easily my fave in a while.

And I like it having that vibe. If I have time, fun show to watch. If I don't, no big deal.

And depending on your taste when it comes to wresting, would be the most must-see show most weeks for those that like a 'dream match' and WORKRATE.

Each to their own, all good.

I don't always watch rampage or collision. I read what happens and then kind of decide if I have time or not. I do plan on at least watching the danielson/shitbata match but just haven't gotten to it yet

I will take Shibata and Dragon sitting across from each other with the stiff slaps over Dragon having to pretend Eddie's Roddy Piper pitter patter "chops" are doing damage any day of the week. The one thing that bothers me about Shibata is ever since he cracked his skull too many fans assume A-that's all he's about and B-that's the intention of everyone who works "strong style" matches. Just some of the comments where people are like "this isn't wrestling" well it's not but neither is the Rock doing the Flair strut before dropping an elbow 4" from the chest. Still fun. And as long as it's just that match or just that wrestler's thing, so be it.

Kind of like these mugs getting into the chop fest with Suzuki. Sometimes yeah it's a stupid spot even worse when it's women but holy shit there are some matches he's done some vicious damage. Jericho for example. That's what happens when you want to be an idiot lol.

I was at an indie show that had Jake Something against Suzuki and they were doing a couple of the chop spots. Jake was barely hitting him and I know he can hit the shit out of people. I have seen it. Suzuki is like turning his chest beat red and I am pretty sure was frustrated as hell Jake was not returning the favor. lol. He was like hit me.

I know people don't get the whole back and forth chop thing because they don't see it over here but I don't mind it. I am on board with hating on Eddie's terrible no way it hurts machine gun chops that look like shit.

I wonder if Japanese fans see the "boo/yeah" back and forth strike fest we do over here and think "They stole that shit from us and made it goofy as fuck" The only difference is the Japanese fans aren't chanting "boo/yeah" More like "ooooh/ahhhhh" lol

Someone needs to ask Bret Hart what he thinks of Suzuki's chop spot because Bret HATES the chop. He said that's all Flair could do is chop, and you can't fake those lol

On the flip side, Danielson clearly loves taking those chops.

I've only seen Eddie Kingston once, and that was an EVOLVE show that WWE pimped out on their network. I was not impressed.

But I read about him in results, news articles etc. so I am aware of him.

I just saw one of them just on Sunday live and in person. So you are saying I shouldn't have gotten that autograph pic for you?

You definitely should bring it to me. I will certainly not be using it do a combined voodoo spell/exorcism, and any rumors to the contrary are slander.

It's for the greater good. Dan needs to spend more time being a father figure to Eddie. He needs a stabilizing influence.

Kingston slapping his man titty to get the slap sound because his fucking baby hands can't do it on his opponents chest always kills me.

Speaking of jabronis, Okada is now the equivalent of WWF signing Ric Flair in 1999 and they have him beat Road Dogg for the European title. And I'm being fucking gracious calling Kingston a Road Dogg type lol.

    At least he's under 40.

It's hard for me to believe that someone like Eddie Kingston is the longest reigning Continental Champion, but there you go.

Could you imagine hearing that Okada was one of the best wrestlers in the world and you tune in last night to see that match?

I think back to when Rey Mysterio debuted in the WWF and they put him in there with Kurt Angle. That's what they should've done with all these big signings. Okada's first match as a signed AEW wrestler should've been against someone like Samoa Joe.

In all honesty, he's probably at least aware of this place considering his history with DVDVR and being an actual IWC smart mark. Who knows if he actually pays a lick of attention now, but he almost certainly used to frequent RajahWWF

So for me I just blame Tony AND the talent because we know that Tony doesn't know how to be a boss. He knows how to spend money, hug, and throw matches together in hopes something comes out of it. He's basically all of us if we were rich as fuck lol. We would be bowing down just like he is.
Interesting she is already getting heat saying she plans to go back to WWE one day. Understandable she says that, maybe not when she signs for AEW though

Its clear she has joined AEW for the $, and for no other reason. TKO have to keep a lid on budget and she reportedly wanted 'Becky Lynch money' whatever that is. Tony Khan is just a money mark. I'd love to know how much they are losing each year, must be $100m+

I'd imagine if Cody or Jade Cargill said that they would be back in AEW one day, right before signing with WWE, WWE would have told them to fuck off

TKO also just had to settle for $350 million to avoid a billion dollar lawsuit for the UFC and the years of underpaying fighters. I will say this, if TKO has the money, they will flex the wallet to accommodate someone the WWE really really wants-IMHO. They have a gigantic roster as it is, they are creating talent from scratch on top of signing people that are building a name and/or established elsewhere. AEW can't really say that. I'll give them props-Jade Cargill. There are also fans of Hook. Outside of those two I can't really think of any stars made from scratch. It's 99% people who already did most of the work Tony is just paying them an egregious amount of money (in some cases) to do it on his tv show.

Some AEW fans will tell you ratings, attendance, revenue, doesn't matter because we're getting really good matches every week. If none of that stuff mattered why would Tony be shelling out that kind of loot for certain wrestlers? This isn't even about the new flavors of the month I'm saying in general. If his intention is simply wanting to have these talents, knowing he can outbid the WWE, then I guess it makes sense. But he's also in that wrestling bubble where he probably thinks some of these wrestlers are bigger deals than they actually are. I mean, despite his age Edge is someone who is a household name and didn't really move the needle. It feels very TNA with what him and Christian have been doing.

Sasha/Mercedes imo is a great signing it just depends on how many of her fans are willing to follow her to AEW. The hard truth is that the majority of her fans don't know, probably don't really care about AEW and the women there. They want to see her face the WWE roster which is 100x better in every aspect than almost every other promotion out there-100% better than any co-ed promotion that features men and women on the card not 2 separate entities because they're stuck in the 1600s.

MJF and Darby are AEW originals but not homegrown. Both had been on the indies for a while before AEW started up. WWE has taken non wrestlers and trained them and brought them up. AEW did that with Jade. Yeah I think a few others from Cody's school were on Dark and stuff but not stars.

With Allin's broken foot (though he was due to be off TV anyway) is this the first time all four 'pillars' have been off AEW TV?

A Brian M reference, our ex-resident Super Cena fan. Excellent work sir!!!

I wonder what ole Brian’s doing these days? He was not too shabby a debater when we tangled in Wilf’s. It was a titanic struggle I enjoyed.

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy,
Do I hear what you hear?
Ringing through the sky, shepherd boy,
Do I hear what you hear?
A song, a song high above the trees
With a voice as big as the sea,
With a voice as big as the sea.
