Yeah Roderick benefitted from being in a golden era of wrestling and being easy to mold for the greats like Danielson to get a good match out of him with his fun moveset and physicality. But pretty much everybody is that now, so there's absolutely no use for him compared to somebody with charisma. Seems a good guy, don't begrudge him a career, but a waste of a roster spot. Though I suspect he'll be in ROH mostly, I guess that doesn't hurt given his status on the brand. Chuck him, O'Reilly and Fish on that show.

Now if they bring back ReDragon and put them all together I would be happy. *pulls out UE shirt* But I would say yeah put them on ROH if you do that.

    ANOTHER stable.

Actually I bet Roddy turns on Cole and joins JAS. Then Jericho will blame WWE for Roddy not getting over despite countless attempts. All while forgetting he was just as whack in ROH when they pushed him hard. I dug his tag-team with Aries, I liked the stable he had with I think Erick Stevens right? But when they put the belt on him....in ROH Land ok, fine, that's their thing. I remember many people saying my boy American Dragon would never get to WWE working that Regal/Backlund style he had there despite the crowd chanting "BEST IN THE WORLD" at him. Unlike Jericho and Punk who had to tell the audience they were

I remember the first time I saw Roderick was back in TNA when they had that relationship with ROH. He came in to challenge for the X division title. I was like, this is Dean Malenko only without the tough old man look.

Roddy won’t be main eventing any Double or Nothins, but he’ll still put on some banger matches. His finals days in NXT were so depressing.

He’s exactly where he should be.

Nah. An 8 man with Cole, Fish, O'Reilly, and Strong vs. Omega, Bucks, and Hangman will introduce the Quatro championship.

I was wondering where Fish was actually but looked it up and his contract expired last year and they didn’t renew it. Kyle O’Reilly’s still employed though.

Wish it was the other way round as Fish is way more interesting and KOR while a decent worker is a charisma vacuum.

Fish is with Impact but hasn't been on tv since like Oct with them and has worked some New Japan dates for the New Japan Strong brand.

No wonder I haven’t seen him lol. Last time I watched that brand it was years ago when it was TNA and they were still doing Aces and Eights.

I'd rather see Chavo Guerrero and Vickie team up and beat FTR for the titles.

Although the visual of Vickie getting the pin after her “frog splash” would be funny af.

the UE stuff and the long adam page feud was the death of my interest in adam cole, who i was open to enjoying when he debuted because he was so over and had the great theme, even though i'd never liked him anywhere before. it's too bad they didn't get to immediately do cole challenging kenny for leadership of the elite, which i think would have been a really hot program in late 2021.

SAME. was not a UE fan and my interest in NXT fell off dramatically around the time they started taking up more of the focus. i love adam cole as a person, but within wrestling he just always feels like this fucking doofus, but him coming into AEW and clearly foreshadowing the angle that he's looking to overtake kenny as the leader of the elite was promising and i was up for it. as soon as they announced fish as a rando opponent for a tnt title shot, i was like 'oh no...'

If Cole hadn’t had that injury, they possibly may have still gone that heel route. I see the points on Cole’s presentation but personally doesn’t bother me that much. If anyone can get that extra face sympathy heat for Cole it is Le Champion.

I guess I missed all those busted face Becky shirts being a thing. Britt called out fans like you, saying it was ok and basically saying it was about the same thing as equating shirts with blood on them with condoning murder. This AEW thread is so much stand up for WWE and boo competition, its gross. The moment someone goes to AEW, its well, I never liked them in NXT or WWE. Right, sure.

No context, so people are complaining, but the people who are the ones complaining are the ones who know the context?

She got a black eye during the attack that the OutCasts did with Cole handcuffed to the ropes. They even mentioned it the following week on Dynamite that she has a black eye from it. So there is your context

I think the issue is that if you didn't watch wrestling, and you saw that shirt out in public, you'd think it was about domestic abuse.

You sound like a weirdo on Twitter blindly ranting. None of what you said happens in this thread, ever.

Maybe. The shirt is whack. The funny thing to me though is that she had the Role Model shirt where she's covered in blood, I don't know if there was any backlash over there. But I will say this--the shirt with Britt's black eye looks stupid and looks like an anti-domestic abuse shirt.

So they have to put the whole story on the shirt so like a random person doesn't think that you are a domestic abuse supporter if you are wearing it. I mean easy enough if someone gives you a look or questions it to say it is a wrestling shirt. Didn't they also sell t-shirts with Britt's bloody face from the various wars she has had with Rosa. Pretty sure they didn't spell those out either. Don't remember backlash to that. I think people complaining are over thinking this.

And I wasn't being snippy. Well not to you.

No but some kind if text or something I dunno, I am not a t-shirt designer.

Just curious. What kind of text would you put on it to give it context?

I will say this..tbf, the Becky Lynch shirt that said Lass Kicker was met with the same pushback. Worse than the one with her broken nose.

I remember a few years ago there was some weird Halloween trend going on where girls would dress up as domestic abuse victims. I believe Selena Gomez or Zendaya might've been one of the celebs that did it and that's what put light on the whole trend.

For me the shirt just sucks. It's just a black eye. The Role Model shirt she's covered in blood. But it looks like a wrestling shirt. This shirt looks like the back is going to say "If you're a victim of domestic abuse please visit www.;lakjf;j.org" or some shit. Since I'm in the bubble and know why she has a black eye I wouldn't think that but I can see WHY people would.

I guaratnee you that you'd only see this shirt being worn at an AEW event. In AEW's existence, I've seen maybe a handful of AEW shirts out in public away from a wrestling setting, and four of those were the CM Punk shirt.

I see AEW shirts out and about and I wear a couple. lol Okay in fairness one of them is CM Punk and I actually retired the shirt and don't wear it anymore. But I still wear my new one which is the Oh Scissor Me Daddy shirt. Funny thing is that I saw more non-AEW shirts at the Dynamite I went to a while back then I did AEW shirts. And that included me and my kids who did not wear any AEW shirts. We bought AEW shirts though while we were there.

I've never seen anyone other than my son wearing an AEW shirt that I bought him. One of Moxley's first shirts. I see more of those Bullet Club Hot Topic shirts than AEW shirts. We just have to understand, AEW isn't WWE. I mean, we didn't exactly see a bunch of TNA t-shirts back in the day.

Guy working at a local Game Stop was wearing a CM Punk AEW shirt, and I had a Braun Strowman t-shirt on. It was around the time of one of the big AEW PPVs, and he asked me if I saw the show, and I said I don't watch AEW. He seemed very sad about that

I have seen more Bullet Club, and old Elite stuff. I have yet to see a HOOKtm shirt out in the wild. Even though it was apparently an amazing seller.

Honestly, AEW needs better merch. What are the biggest sellers ever? Austin 3:16. NWO. CM Punk. These are simple shirts with clean designs. Most people aren't going to wear a huge picture of the shirtless young bucks or cody rhodes and his neck tattoo. That only works if it's retro guys.

The all-time best shirts...... These are shirts you could wear outside, and not immediately have to explain your hobbies to anyone who you engaged in a conversation with. They're a wink and a nod to other wrestling fans.

This is a shirt I wear, and I can choose whether to acknowledge any of the head nods with a conversation.

It's hard enough as a kid/teen wearing wrestling shirts to school it's 100x harder once you're 18+ and wearing a wrestling shirt. Me personally IDGAF I mean I'm not showing up to my daughter's graduation party wearing my new John Cena shirt my son ordered for me or my Road Dogg shirt from the night Trips won his first World title. But if I'm going to Target, to someone's house, shit I'm probably going to see Hed PE tonight and I'm wearing a Bloodsport t-shirt. (Movie not the promotion).

But I think some of the most popular wrestling shirts are the ones that don't look like wrestling shirts. That's why the nWo, DX, Austin, and a few others sold so well in the late 90's. Fast forward I thought the Tapout/Affliction influenced era of WWE shirts were really cool. Some of those shirts looked like rock band shirts.

Even going back to the 80's some of those shirts looked like the 80's itself if that makes sense so that's why the red and yellow Hulk Rules/Hulkamania shirts or the purple Macho Man shirt have stood the test of time. They're throwbacks to that vibe of the 80's.

Bloodsport the Movie is a completely different conversation.

Wrestling shirts that don't look like a wrestling shirts is a good way to put it. I have a BCC shirt, but it's basically just AEW shows and around the house. Because I'm not wearing the "bloody fist" shirt to go grab some Costa Verde with Mrs. Mazer. Meanwhile, I will wear my Imperium or UE shirt in any setting.

There is a retro effect that makes things feel completely different. Maybe in 20 years, I'll be able to talk myself info an American Nightmare Wolf face shirt. But I'd rock a retro Dusty Rhodes shirt right now.

I agree with the retro effect. Some of these shirts transcend into pop culture. It's why Kendall Jenner can get away with wearing a nWo Wolfpac t-shirt and panties and I can't.

Saw people complaining the Wembley show sold out too quickly and they didn't get tickets.

If it's scalpers, how come they don't make reselling of tickets illegal? Like, if you can't make the show, you should be able to get a refund from where you bought the tickets from, and then they can resell them.

Because they only open up so many seats for presale and lots of people had codes. So yeah not surprised. Probably more people with codes than available seats.

That being said I do hate scalpers and those third party resell sites. I won't use them. If I buy tickets they are from whatever official platform is being used by venue or straight from a person. Ticketmaster will let you resell tickets if you are not able to use them and I actually bought some resell tickets for a Battlehawks game and ended up spending less money on those tickets because the person sold them at less than face value. But yeah I am not paying more than face value plus whatever stupid fees and all those tickets on stubhub and what not are almost always above face value which is bull.

I plan on getting to a St. Louis City SC game at some point and probably going to buy off a season ticket holder that can't go. I am in a buy and sale group on facebook and they do a pretty good job of keeping scammers out. And people are not allowed to sell their ticket above face value.

Yeah I need to pick a game a this point to shoot for and see what I can afford. I wanted to go to the leagues cup game against America but I bet that is out of my price range. STH got first crack at that game.

I logged on for the presale, cheapest tickets were £200 for not even good seats.

Is the general sale not Friday? Can’t be sold out already.

I registered for pre-sale but unfortunately was working at the time of the slot so couldn’t get on.

It is not sold out. The stuff available during the first presale is gone though. General sale starts on Friday. I actually have a link to another presale tomorrow because I have bought stuff from Show AEW in the past.

I'm enjoying reading all the AEW wrestlers and their die hard supporters battling nobodies on Twitter about this show. Like who gives a shit what some neckbeard in Montana thinks about AEW in general let alone if they can sell out Wembley. It makes people in AEW look stale.

Yeah, Tony, Jericho, Baker, Paige, they all seem butt hurt when someone says they can't sell out Wembley. Just shut up and prove them wrong lol

I might be wrong, but I don't see WWE stars doing that. Then again, I don't see anyone saying WWE won't sell out shows.

Yeah I don't care what company you are with or if you're even a wrestling company to begin with. I know I'll never be able to relate to people on social media who have the kind of following they have and attention they bring. But you never really see anything positive from the majority being shared. Rob Van Dam is one of the few wrestlers who will sometimes share negative tweets to respond to but also people discussing positive things. Why is Taz arguing with some dork with 54 followers and a paid blue check mark about AEW?

I'll tell you why. The same reason a crackhead smokes crack. Chasing that high. We want attention and that's why people say stupid shit like if they hate you, you must be doing something right. That's why we live in a world where every generation is right lol. No my generation sold out Wembley and my new video game is the next No Mercy and we're like Hall and Nash only bigger. The fuck. How many times will a crackhead smoke crack?

For those that don't follow New Japan it's looking like Forbidden Door 2 is going to have Jon Moxley vs Kazuchika Okada, Kenny Omega vs Will Ospreay, and Aussie Open vs FTR.

I heard they're giving out free tickets if you show up dressed like Dynamite Kid and Chris Adams.

Here's a question. Should they go with a big stage or should they try to sell everything they can? A lot of people think without a stage the show doesn't look big time even if there are a ton of people there.

I think you gotta go with the spectacle in Wembley. Pro-stage for me

Not surprised with those two rematches. FTR retained against Aussie Open while they were the champs and I imagine Aussie Open retains this time around. Guess we never did get an Okada vs Moxley match during Moxley's run with New Japan so that should be good.

And now I’m tempted to bring a “Vote Peter Griffin’ signs even if it’s miles away from the cameras and no-one around me will have a clue what I’m on about.

maximize attendance. no better visual than seeing a totally packed stadium. if they can promote having the legit biggest (non-forced) wrestling show attendance of all time they should go for it.

Or we could just go for a beer before seeing as the plan is to get a national express which will have us in London for 2pm, Unless you want to pick us up on the way down.

I’m leaning on right now at least flying and crashing in a hotel overnight before the show rather than a tiring overnight journey from Scotland but will give you a shout with my plans nearer the time.

Just wanted to get the holidays and the ticket, haven’t sorted the rest yet.

If they can legit sell out the stadium they could use a stage/screen set-up similar to this to get the best of both worlds:

Upfronts for TV are coming up in a few days so some stuff is leaking out.

Looks like AEW's new TV deal with WBD will be for 5 years in the 1.1-1.2 billion dollar range.

I'm hoping it's true and they put everything on (HBO)Max. Do exactly what the WWE is doing. It's the only show other than basketball that I think people watch besides Star Wars and DC movies. Christmas Story twice a year lol. So you can do all the shows still on TNT/TBS and then a month later, boom, there it is on Max. All the ppvs, ROH, "best of" type stuff, all on their own little hub. Why the fuck else would you be getting that kind of money? Outside of that maybe the hypothetical what if WWE doesn't exist within those 5 years?

Still haven't got tickets for All In.

Concerned its going to finish really late and I'm relying on public transport. And my lad isn't great with big crowds. He'd be ok in the stadium, it's the train afterwards. No chance of a hotel at this stage, I'd say.

Plus, my lad isn't even bothered, it's all about me.

Wild catch match and nicely done turn by Callis. Helped both Moxley and Omega on separate occasions against the other.

    Looking forward to the explanation.

When did he betray Moxley? He helped Omega beat Moxley but that was not a betrayal. He just helped Moxley win after being on commentary due to Omega's request.

Either way that match was wild. That v-trigger. Wow.

And I was shocked by the turn because I honestly was waiting on Omega to turn on the Elite due to Callis pushing him that way. Maybe this will be the reason behind the turn. Omega was brushing Callis off at times while Callis was trying to get him to focus on himself and not worry about the Bucks and the trios titles anymore after they lost them. I can see that. We shall see how they explain it.

I think this feud would've been better if The Elite were the heels. Then you could pivot to them feuding with a returning Punk and FTR. They're going to try to play the long game and hope the EVPs grow a set and do business. A "brand split" but not because of the obvious (too big of a roster) naw it's to keep The Elite from getting beat up by Old Man Punk again.
