I was totally oblivious to this news of another wannabe toughguy (Sammy) getting a 2 piece for his keyboard warrior ways. I just think that when you're popping off on the Twitter, you're popping off in front of the camera at a presser about people should come see you....Then they can't figure out why someone beat their ass lol.

Sammy gets away with a lot of shit because of who he's with. It's been no secret Tony Khantana has been Russo meets Sable head over heels for Tay Conti. Don't get it twisted, I think Eddie Kingston is a bitch for how he handled the fat piece of shit comment considering the things he's said about others on live tv and through social media. But ultimately it makes you wonder how often does Sammy rub people the wrong way? Jericho being high on him probably doesn't hurt.

Sammy’s been given a lot of chances, no doubt didn’t they have him take like…. Courses on how not to be derogatory to women on Twitter?

Yeah I guess....I mean this is a company that doesn't drug test, doesn't give a shit when someone gets KO'd on live tv they just drag the body off to the side...but yeah they sent this guy to some type of Women's Lib class or something idk. Sounded fake as fuck.

I mean he's not like a Jeff Hardy I just think he's an extremely entitled kid who is fucking around and finding out. I will say it doesn't look good for him to just stand there and get slapped, punched. He should've laid out Kingston, that dude isn't tough at all. Andrade probably could really beat ass but you gotta fight back. What's he going to do, sue Andrade? Weak.

I am not 100% confident that silver spoon Tony Khan, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and Hangman Page are the single most knowledgeable people about building an organizational structure and policy plans.

Even with noted business consultants Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley.

And even though Khan's father let him "run" the Jag's analytics dept.

I don't even have any beef with Omega, Page, Mox, and Jericho. They're probably very creative people.

It's just there's a reason why most concepts don't sustain.

Hopefully Father Khan's money can get them through the next few years, as Pro Wrestling is certainly better with AEW as a part of it.

    Is it?

I get the whole "the more places for talent to work the better" argument but I don't think we were suffering without AEW. Kind of funny how AEW debuts and 2 months later, covid-19.

Far too many titles and far too much talk of ROH on AEW at the moment. Between that, the Japan stuff and WWE seemingly getting their mojo back, I think AEW has lost a lot of momentum.

Don't get me wrong, Forbidden Door etc was great, but there was little reason to really care.

And Jericho in a prominent position at his age irks me a little.

As soon as TK said the locker room was the best it's been all year I knew there would be something happen, Didn't know it would be within hours. Sammy is the common denominator but Eddy and Andrade get sent home, I mean yes they were the aggressors but at some point you have to ask why they go after Sammy.

What irks me is that Tony seems to have the need to comment on everything. It's one thing to go on Twitter and promote Dynamite or a PPV, but keep silent about other things.

He's the only booker in the history of booking that gives a shit if Meltzer names him booker of the year. It's also a different generation too so I guess there might be more younger promoters that want that nod because they grew up reading the internet more than people read the newsletter in the 80's.

Who's up for booker of the year? I think it would always end up with Tony and Vince, and everyone was anti WWE for a time so Tony just won by default. Now with Triple H around, they can't just give it to Tony.

It's typically whoever is booking the major promotions: WWE, Impact, New Japan, etc. but I honestly don't think any of them give a shit. Other than Tony Khantana. I'm sure if the guy who books MLW got the nod he'd love but the WON awards are pretty corny. People used to give a shit when you'd win a PWI award, not so much with the WON.

    To me, it is.

I like where Mox is. There are some folks who I quite enjoy that no one company can fit in. They're accessible on a major network, and have enough funding to keep some decent talent.

I'm not saying that no second company could ever be better, but I'm happier with them in it.

He could be annoying or an ass.

But there's a part of me thar says "It's so weird that disgruntled people have a problem with the younger than them, good-looking guy who gets paid to make out with his hot wife on TV, has the owner simping for him, and is a favorite of Jericho. Man, usually that guy would be super-popular with older workers "

I thought it was a good show.

Renee is all elite and made her debut in Toronto.

Garcia made his decision on who he is loyal to.

Interested to see how things play out with Sterling and the Acclaimed and him trademarking scissor me.

Glad to see Orange get some gold. Not sure how long he will have it but nice to see it. Not as good of a match as they have had before but still good.

Just some thoughts off the top of my head.

I think there’s more to the Garcia betrayal of Danielson than meets the eye. Noticed how he wasn’t really celebrating and gave a one-armed hug. Could be a chance he’s setting Jericho up to perhaps even beat him for the ROH title.

OC/Pac was all kinds of fun. Even though there’s a bit too many belts in AEW IMO, it was still cool to see OC get his first one.

I hope you're right on Garcia.

Agreed on the AA belt - really pleased to see OC get his moment. If he cuts out the play fighting aside from the occasional taunt then I'm all in for him to have a good run with it.

What is Orange Cassidy without the play fighting stuff though? It's like giving Hacksaw Jim Duggan the crown and stripping the 2x4 and "HOOO" catchphrase. Naw he still needs to be chill with the belt doing this thing. You make him into a normal guy, meh.

He's still cool without it. Everyone needs to evolve - this part of his act got stale a long time ago. So one dimensional (Hacksaw Jim Duggan is a good analogy actually).

Rampage is far too rushed. Most matches don't even have entrances, not even Moxley this week. And then there was the Ethan Page/Kassidy nonsense. It was rushed through so quickly and within seconds of the finish, they had moved on to a backstage segment, but by winning the short match, Ethan's group now own Private Party and Matt Hardy's contracts.

Is he? I've never known of him to be anything but a comedy wrestler. X amount of years dressed up as an ant and he's been doing this OC bit for a long time. As stupid as some of it is, that play fighting goofball moveset and just overall approach is why he's over. Maybe they just dial it back and we get it every 5-6 matches instead of every match. I mean are we just talking about the baby kicks to the shin or are we including the hands in the pockets type stuff?

I'm just waiting for that diving stuff to go horribly wrong. Not because I want it to, but because it feels like that's what will end his career.

I dunno, I feel like OC has already backed off enough. Like Nash said, completely abandoning would be throwing away what got him over in the first place. But they've since moved on from him being pure comedy to using the antics as mindgames to set people up for failure, he's had matches/feuds where he's serious, and doesn't really rely on the antics as much except for in smaller/random matches. Hell, even his promos and backstage actions have become more focused on like...actually wanting to fight for titles and shit.

Yeah he has been tweaking things for a while now while keeping the core of what put him over still there. He can get serious when he needs to but still play those mind games with people with the way he tends to wrestle and then boom goes all out on them. I like that he actually talks some now and it goes with the flow of his character still being a bit lazy or not knowing completely what is going on but he can be focused when needed as in this set up with PAC and going after this title.

That's always been his gig. Do that comedy stuff to throw you off and he does it well. He's a breath of fresh air and I think comedy has it's place on a variety show like pro wrestling. As long as it's done right and he does it right.

Can the guy wrestle? I only know him as Pockets so I'm not really informed.

Yes he can. He has great matches with people like PAC and had a great match with Ospreay at Forbidden Door. He can wrestle. Which adds to his whole character.

I actually think Orange is doing it right.

He's not going to be Mox, Omega, or Page. Which doesn't mean he had to quit the business. He's carving out a spot for himself, and giving viable options for him to have a decent place on the card....be the main player on the trios title (if that becomes a thing worth talking about), or one of the other titles. He could go a couple spots from here.

I think broadly we're on the same page with OC - I agree the tweaks he's been making gradually moving away from it as the central schtick has been good. Quite surprised to see people question whether he's cool though, the guy is obviously cool as fuck. That's why everyone dresses up as him.

It's a little known fact that Orange Cassidy was a big influence on a young Elvis.

Hangman in concussion protocol. I swear these title matches are cursed by this point. Really shit way for a show to end.

On the positive side, the MJF and Regal promo exchange was fire.

Title matches? Dude it's damn near every match, every single show. I just watched a clip on Twitter that Cornette shared of Ember Moon beating the fuck out of some red head, carelessly dropping her over the top the outside, shoot elbows and dropkicks. It was crazy. Obviously it's wrestling, nobody is 100% perfect in the ring but holy shit AEW, for a "major" promotion seem to be extremely careless.

I was shocked to see medical come out. But this is also the company who somehow managed to clear Paige. And it's someone who use to work for WWE. So in WWE, she can't get cleared, but in AEW this guy says "it's cool"??? Money talks I guess.

As I was watching it I was like that legit knocked him out for a sec. Sucky way to end the match and I hope he recovers quickly. Sucks to see someone get hurt like that in the ring.

The Regal/ MJF stuff was great.

Little surprised to see the announcement of titles vs trademark on Friday. Thought they would drag that out a bit.

Can MJF just work a pure storyline program, or does he always need to blur the lines between reality and fiction?

I don't like the guy, not in a you're supposed to not like him kind of way. I think he's overrated, on the mic at least. Haven't seen in ring wrestling.

He definitely reminds me of guys like Shane Douglas in ECW who would always blur the lines. I think MJF does it well but I can see why some people aren't big fans of his. I sometimes get a feeling he's trying too hard to blur the lines and relies too much on it. He's lucky he works for AEW with a super smark crowd that gets these comments. I don't think it would work in WWE, constantly breaking kayfabe to get a "Oooo he just called Triple H "Paul"!!!!!" type reaction.

Anybody else see the Athena/Jody match from Monday's Dark? Athena was stiff as fuck to the point where it kinda urked me. Heel antics, yeah... but it was weird stuff.

Yeah I forgot her name is Athena but a few posts up I mentioned it. "stiff" is an understatement. She's a heel now? I know I've missed a couple shows here and there but I don't remember Athena turning heel.

I saw the vid and it shocked me. Not so much the dump outside but the stiff shots. I'd be interested to get Jody's take though - maybe they agreed on it and it wasn't as bad as it looked.

I was seeing on Twitter that her most recent tweet is talking about how happy she was about the appearance. She doesn't specifically mention Athena or anything, so who knows if she's just focusing on the positive, but apparently she's fairly well known in the area, and I saw someone on Twitter saying she's known for taking pretty crazy bumps like the drop outside. It's hard to say, but if anything, I think it points to an agreed upon recklessness rather than Athena being outright negligent.

Don't hold your breath, apparently. The only bit coming out is that she didn't have any complaints and she just keeps her head down and avoid political aspects of the industry.

The report is she lost track of the match and things broke down, communication wise, after that. Athena worked heel after hearing the reaction from the crowd, that slip up happened, and Athena started working a little more aggressively (presumably by instinct) due to working as a heel. Both parties were talked to backstage as people in the back noticed this wasn't ideal in the sense Athena was working too stiff.

wow that match was pretty darn good. better than any women's match i can remember seeing on dynamite in a while. people must be really not used to seeing women work stiff. there wasn't anything in there that would make someone raise an eyebrow if say, bryan danielson did it in a match.

Bob Holly worked stiff and most of his matches sucked.

Yes, if Danielson hit someone with the flying Finn Balor dropkick on the outside I think people would be wondering what the fuck was going on? lol. The match was not good, at all. Botches left and right. The only "cool" shit was seeing Athena blast her with those elbows, the dropkick outside, and the suplex to the outside. It was a terrible match regardless if Athena was working stiff.

I actually watched this match because they talked on What Culture Wrestling about people on Twitter going ballistic over how stiff it was and Athena being unprofessional.

Apparently it just happened backstage. Bowens had the A hand signal and Caster came up behind him with his own and scissored him for a laugh.

Their schtick has been quite LGBT friendly too as Bowens is gay, so it's a good fit in that respect.

So it's just a hand gesture they do? Kind of like the Too Sweet thing?

Oh you mean you've not even seen it. Yes, they do < > with their sets of fingers and immitate women scissoring.

Recently one of them did something of a scissoring leg drop as a move to injure someone, but think that was just a one off.

Everytime I hear the scissor stuff I just think of the South Park episode where Mrs Garrison goes to the lesbian bar "Scissor me timbers!" lol

Reading reports about AEW buying out CM Punk's contract. You gotta imagine we've seen the last of CM Punk on a grand stage. I doubt WWE will pick him up, unless just a giant fuck you to AEW.

If anything it would be a giant fuck you to CM Punk if Punk went back to WWE. It won't happen. He's proven that his body can't handle it at this stage and his body could barely handle it 2 years into the business. WWE didn't want anything to do with him despite Fox trying to push for them to bring him back.

We have a saying in Iowa, you might leave but eventually you'll be back. CM Punk is a future Hall of Famer regardless of the things he's said over the years. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame that has pissed on Hollywood, directors, other actors, etc. But I don't see a need for him in the ring. For me as a huge CM Punk fan I would like to see him get a better "last match" than Royal Rumble 2013 but I'm also a huge fan of AEW and we got the MJF feud which imo is top 10 of the last 20 years. Of any promotion.

Did the CM Punk chants stop in WWE when he debuted in AEW? I can't recall if I've heard them since then.

They were dying down already but I do think they've completely stopped. Honestly the last time I even remember off the top of my head is that time Stephanie came out and shit on Punk for getting his ass beat in the UFC. After that it just kind of died.

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if WWE eventually had a thing where they brought him out like Goldberg.

not saying it's the most probable, but it would not be a complete stunner.

Exactly. When they've somehow managed to bring back Bruno, Warrior, and Bret Hart I think CM Punk returning to the WWE is inevitable. Even if it's just for his wife's HOF induction lol. Wouldn't that be the rib? Induct AJ Lee before CM Punk lol.

So you don't think WOW has her under an ironclad non-compete? Those WOW lawyers are likely fierce.

I wish I could wager money on Khan eventually acquiring WOW.

That WOW shit is fuckin terrible and I doubt it lasts. Their ring announcer just passed away a few weeks ago in a car accident.

When I watched the first 2 episodes all I kept thinking about was AJ Lee and the give divas a chance or whatever that hashtag was that she got going years ago. I'm like, THIS is what you were fighting for? It's like if Jim Cornette started a deathmatch promotion with Kenny Omega as the champ. WOW is what you get when non-wrestling fans try to bank on the Netflix show GLOW and here we are.

I could shit on WOW all day it's that terrible. I would rather watch that midget wrestling show or Hogan's reality show with Screech Powers learning how to wrestle than 2 seconds of WOW. It is without a doubt the worst wrestling promotion I've seen on national tv and it's not like an affiliate it's the real deal. This isn't ECW on the Sunshine Network or local promotion here 3XW playing at 2am on a CW affiliate. Just brutallllll

Honestly, now I kind of want to watch an episode.

And the odds of an AEW acquisition just went to -700.

tony will buy the franchise so he can tweet out that he bought CM Punk's wife's company.

Honestly if Tony isn't able to sit down with Punk, Omega, and the Bucks and squash this shit then he's a failure. I mean for fuck's sake, CM Punk was supposedly a close friend of the Bucks.

And while I've said in prior posts that Punk saying "If you have a problem come see me about it" during that presser was like an invitation, if he gets let go everyone else should be because they came to him. It was something that wasn't even that out of hand, nobody was really fucked up or anything.

That's just my take. Ace Steel was already fired. Let him be the scapegoat. It's obvious a lot of AEW fans want this to be turned into a storyline, I can't see it happening unless everyone involved admits they were wrong in every aspect from Punk popping off to Omega/Bucks confronting him. You can't be an executive of a company and conduct business like that especially when as I said, I thought these guys were buddies. So if that's how you treat your homeboy, imagine how they treat everyone else?

The Saudi Prince probably has no idea who CM Punk even is. He thought Yokozuna was still alive and that dude died in the 90's. I imagine Saudi Arabia is up to Summerslam 1996.

Well he's a massive Goldberg mark so he's at least up to WCW nitro 1999
