I think there was a dark match and that was that so didn't get there as early as I will for this. No dark matches afterwards but there was stuff going on in the ring between the people that ended the show but it wasn't much.

Looks like things start at 6pm. So they tape some matches for Dark or Dark Elevation and then at 7 the show starts and goes to 9 and then Rampage after that. So yeah won't be out of there until after 10pm probably. So yeah pretty close if I were to go to a Raw since they tape stuff before hand now.

Still a long night sitting in an arena because knowing me I will get there way earlier than I need to if I can help it. I will have a blast for sure but money says as much fun as my daughter is having she will be ready to get the hell out of dodge by the time it is over. I think she is only going on the chance of seeing Orange Cassidy.
tha rampage tapings tend to be a bit more relaxed inbetween, so i'd think closer to 11 for ya. it won't start right after dynamite ends, and inbetween segments doesn't have the same urgency. rampage has been a thing the last two times they were here in philly, with dynamite ending at 10pm local time. both times i left the arena around roughly 11:30-11:40. they'll do the taping and then usually cap things off with some fun interaction like what they did recently with mjf/punk/hook/danhausen.

I am sure my daughter and I will be worn out by the time it is done but I am sure we will make it. Not like we get to bed early around here as much as we try. Then again my daughter is an adult you have little ones. So I can see you guys not making it all the way through.

When Mr and Mrs Cole-Baker win the Owens I don't want to hear anyone talk about any other wrestling company being corny as fuuuuuuck.

This is almost, ALMOST as bad as John Cena proposing to Nikki Bella at Mania.

The fucked up part is I would rather Britt win it than Ruby. But Cole.....HOW?? This guy has to be the modern day Lex Luger. Extremely over, always in the spot people want to be in but I don't get it. At all.

12 matches on the main card now for DON. i typically give no shits about the length of AEW PPV's and their pacing, but even i'm thinking this is gonna be rough. a bunch of these matches would be perfectly fine dynamite main events.

I feel like ATT/Guevara and Co, O'Reilly/Allin, Cargill/Jay just don't need to be there. I get doing Hardyz/Bucks, HoB/Death Triangle, and Rosa/Deeb, but it feels like one of them could have been for a Dynamite. Hookhausen/Nese & Sterling is perfect for the pre-show.

Reports are coming out that MJF and Samoa Joe both no showed AEW's Fan Fest. People are speculating it could be a travel issue, but there's been no official statement yet.

Well someone said they spotted MJF there he just no showed the meet and greet. Kind of weird no Joe. Hope it was travel issues or something even though I thought almost all of them have been in town since Tuesday.

Fans paid upwards of $100 to meet MJF, so I don't know what to make of him no showing.

When people are saying travel issues, they mean the night of. Apparently the Hardys had a hard time getting to the event and were late. Could be the same for Joe.

    Agree with most.

Kyle/Darby, jade/!Anna Jat, and Hob/death triangle are the ones I would bump first.

    Well....Second.

I have no interest in hookhausen.

I would keep Jade and Anna on the main card because title match.

I would move KOR/Darby, the mixed tag, and probably HOB/Death Triangle.

Probably would have held off on Hardys/Bucks to be honest until the next big show.

They are just cramming too much into this show after title matches and the Owen Tournament finals and that big Anarchy in the Arena match

I am not buying the show. Honestly I got a lot going on to stop and watch it. Plus got to finish getting my son outfitted for staffing summer camp and living the woods for a couple months and that is costing me more than I thought it would.

My first thought is do the Mike Awesome deal when everyone knew Taz was leaving ECW. Add Wardlow to the Page vs Punk match and have him smash through both and win the title.

AEW please work it out with MizJF, I know his BF is in WWE but WWE already has the Miz so there is no need for a smaller, less polished version who's eyes and nose share the same spot on his face. Also, if I wasn't clear MJF is ugly...

MJF is a much better in-ring performer than The Miz tbf

Whatever's actually going on, it's not good. This show has way too many matches on it and I'm not interested in a good number of them. Wardlow/MJF is by far the best thing going on in AEW at the moment and it'll be shit if it's not going ahead.

wardlow/mjf has been legit some of the best booking i've ever seen, just home run segment week in week out with wardlow getting hotter and hotter. would be such a shame if he doesn't get his blow off.

the whole situation makes no sense to me, but of course we don't have the available information, and of course sometimes people just do stupid things. but none of this seems the least bit smart from mjf.

Joe no-showing the fan fest was apparently just the result of miscommunication where he got double booked.

This kind of reminds me when I went to The Gathering in 2019 and KRS-One was supposed to play a 3am set and then no-showed. But then he showed up the next day as part of the main stage in a surprise set replacing someone else that was kind of whack. I still don't know whether it was some kind of planned drama to make the main stage slot more satisfying, or if it was some legit politics.

I'm hoping in MJF's case, it's the former and he shows up at some point today to make up for the people who paid to get his autograph. If it's legit, though, I'm very curious what went down to make him want to walk out.

honestly, if this is all legit and i was in charge, this would be my move. i wouldn't make it a squash though, but i would give him the belt.

what do you do after that? build to wardlow vs. punk at all out, give punk a big dynamite win for the title? i dunno. it would sure add in an element of unpredictability and chaos in the upper card that AEW generally lacks.

I'm actually looking forward to it. I think that type of environment will play to Spanish God's strengths, and there's some good heel work here that interests me. And the segments have been solid.

Both could come out of it looking good and ready to spin in a new direction.

mjf/wardlow was perfect. loved anarchy in the arena. some of the nearfalls in the tag title match i genuinely bought. i support giving the title to punk.

other than that i disliked a LOT on this show and it was even more exhausting than i expected.

The second half of that show was dramatically better than the first half to me. KOR and Allin was cold but really exceeded expectations. I though the Owen matches were pretty good. Cole and Britt were on their best behavior but I doubt that lasts long. The Anarchy in the Arena match was absolutely wild. Have to imagine Blood and Guts is next for these groups but it’s going to be really hard to top this match. Hopefully Punk never tries a Buckshot again lol.

That thing was too long but was still entertaining.

wardlow/mjf, hob/death triangle, anarchy in the arena and the main event all delivered. tag title and women's title were good. everything else was meh to bad. i think this is pretty solidly the worst AEW ppv to date.

length actually didn't end up bothering me like i thought it might. they blocked a bunch of matches together that i didn't really give a shit about, so i just let it go in the background while i put my attention to something else until something interesting happened. a lot of you guys need to figure out how to multitask during these long events, it works wonders.

Show was a slog, jesus christ. Over 5 hours with the Buy-In included. Sounds like Tony Khan was still rambling away at the media scrum a good two or three hours after the show finished as well.

    - I'm glad Wardlow got to have his moment because it looked like it might not happen at all at one point. This was just what it needed to be but the conjecture surrounding MJF definitely dampened things a bit. The future looks bright for Wardlow. Hope he gets a catchy new theme. Who knows what's next for MJF.
    - The Hardys are ridiculous. They should stop trying to do some of the stuff that they can't do anymore and transition into slower paced messy brawling because they're still quite compelling in a car crash kind of way. Looked like Jeff may have got knocked out at one point or he was just fucked. The Bucks worked hard and this ended up actually being good fun.
    - Cargill needs more experienced challengers than the likes of Anna Jay really. This was pretty rough but the Sterling & Silver interference added something and the debuts of Hathaway & Athena were cool. Stokely is an upgrade for Cargill. Athena should be a solid in-ring addition to the women's division but she needs to show more outside of it imo.
    - House of Black looked class and the match was a blast. Finally we got the pay off to the Julia Hart story. I want to see the House of Black in a more prominent position now.
    - Rancid playing Ruby to the ring was great.
    - Both Owen tournaments have been really off. Disappointing matches and strange booking. Neither of the finals did much for me and it seemed super obvious that Cole & Baker were going to win. Martha Hart's speech/presentation was a cool moment though. Most memorable part of the whole tournament.
    - The TNT title skirmish was fine but there was absolutely no need for it to be on the PPV. Just do it on Wednesday.
    - Same with Darby/KOR which I skipped so I could eat something.
    - Women's title match seemed pretty good but I was struggling to get back into proceedings and at this point. Big fan of Thunder Rosa's gear though.
    - Anarchy in the Arena was fucking wild and I loved it. The clear high point of the show for me. So much crazy stuff in this but the visual of Eddie Kingston walking to the ring with the fuel can whilst covered in blood was amazing.
    - RUSH making his AEW debut, reuniting with old pal Andrade!
    - Tag title match had good action but wasn't interesting enough to really keep me engaged after watching wrestling for so long. Team Taz are getting closer but I think it has to be FTR that take the belts of Jurassic Express.
    - Punk & Page delivered a good main event and the crowd were unbelievably still pretty involved after 5 hours. Glad Punk won but I thought we might get the heel turn here. The moment felt a bit muted in general but maybe I was just ready to tune out.

Shout out to the new champ CM Punk. I'm very very curious what happens next. Continuation with Page or something totally fresh? A couple New Japan cats want a piece of him. House of Black came out on top, maybe Malakai Black v. CM Punk??

The whole situation with MJF supposedly going to no-show sounded so ridiculous. I'm still shocked at how many people didn't hear the sarcasm in the interview he gave a few months back that set all this talk in motion. Him praising those NXT segments lol. If he really is leaving, which I don't see it happening, he wouldn't bail on them. Vince doesn't like that shit at all. Great win for Wardlow.

I'm wondering if we get Hardyz v. Jurassic Express for the tag title soon. Jurassic Express, Scorpio Sky, just not feeling what they're doing at all. Maybe Lance Storm can come out of retirement and team with Christian after he turns on JE. Scorpio losing to Wardlow and Wardlow going on a Samoa Joe X division type run would be great.

Long ass show and I didn't even watch it lol. Looking at the match times there are definitely some matches they should've cut short by about 4-5 minutes at least.

Question....why wasn't FTR on the show?

this show had higher highs, but the lows here, for me, were rough. only really bad thing on all out 2020 was the hardy/sammy match that got fucked. the card was shorter and almost everything had decent to great build.

the bucks/hardyz went too long for how sloppy it was during the majority of it. also felt like they rushed into booking this just to get it on ppv.

jade/anna jay was meh. felt like a rampage match that got slotted onto the ppv. after the two debuts, makes sense why this made it.

gave zero shit about the tournament finals. cole/joe was fine and thankfully didn't turn into an adam cole takeover epic, but as soon as he won, you knew britt was winning. i was already actively disinterested in britt/ruby, so that definitely didn't help. i think ruby stinks and britt has always been pretty awful in the ring, but she was a great character for awhile. that stopped being the case a long time ago, and she's just ridden off that inital heel work. that lights out match is probably the best and worst thing to happen to her, cause i feel like after that is when they shifted to portraying her as 'the baddest bitch on the block' tough girl and dropped a lot of the more humorous elements that made her stand out.

mixed six man would've been fine as a regular match, but whatever the fuck they were trying to accomplish with sammy and tay ruined it for me. having sammy and kaz in-fighting would have been good if it was both of them trying to get the pin so they could lay claim to a shot at the tnt title, but having sammy and tay act like total buffoons just felt so randomly off. kaz was great in the role he had to play, but sammy doing stupid stuff like some comedy jobber that actively flew in the face trying to keep the right to fight for the tnt title was just dumb.

    kor/darby was whatever.

tony explained why he crammed so much onto the card during his insane portion of the media scrum, and i get why he did it, but a bunch of it felt like it didn't need to be there.

cole and britt winning as "a couple" with both wearing pink during their matches was the absolutely lamest and least interesting outcome of the owen hart tournament possible

talk about two people who have NO need to win the tournament, when dax going it is as a singles competitor who just loves the harts and winning it would have been an awesome story. same with stadlander winning after that rampage promo.

yep. overall, i was disappointed with the owen tourney. there was no coherence to it, it felt so random. outside of dax you felt zero connection to owen or the harts, which i think would be fine for future years, but i feel like this inaugural one should have had way more of a narrow focus on who was participating and why.

It's been pretty clear despite how mediocre Britt Baker is in the spectrum of women's wrestling, that Tony has a hard on for her and has no intention of putting any other women in a better position than her.

Adam Cole........I knew he was winning it from the start. Every promoter, almost all the talent, see him as the 2nd coming of something great and I just don't get it. At all. It's like watching Jeff Jarrett get that mega push in WCW and TNA, but people actually WANTING to see it happen lol.

I'm just sad that while I can see Dr Hart's reasoning for not wanting to work with the WWE.....It just shows that AEW threw some money out there and we get what we get. Even the new action figures look very weak. Barely anyone knows about Owen's career outside of the WWF.

    Owen deserved better.

Jeff has not looked good in the ring since coming to AEW. He probably doesn't have many more matches left in him and they wanted to get this "dream match" out of the way.

The explanation, while logical, doesn’t make a lick of sense for the format. I get why you’d do that if you’re running a weekly episodic show but it doesn’t make sense when you’ve already gotten the audience to pay for the show. It’s also 2022, people (as you pointed out earlier) multitask. With it being 2022, I’m pretty sure people have the means (if they really want to) to split their attention by watching something on their tablet, laptop, or second TV and watch the other on another device.

the format wasn't for people who already bought the show, though, which is what he said. he wanted to pad the show out to stack the portion of the card that would likely come after the game ended. that's why shiavone started hawking late buys as the anarchy in the arena match started. i'll trust that he has a better grip on how the formatting influenced the financials than i do.

I get why Schiavone did what he did. I just don’t necessarily believe how successful that actually is, based on fandom and the circumstances. Certainly up for debate on whether a diehard Celtics or Heat fan (lol to the latter) would be inclined to shell out $50 bucks for the main event based on the specific scenarios: my team just made it to the NBA Finals or my team fell short. It’s like 11 pm on the East Coast, so I think that’s a tough sell, either way. Especially when you have replays of the show that can be purchased, I presume. You have to be a really impulsive buyer to go ahead and jump on in that scenario and ignore the fact you’re on cloud nine, devastated, or not staying at the bar or wherever you are where you were watching the game to go ahead and make that purchase. I get why it was done. I just don’t think it really was going to lead to a successful result, when nearly everyone has the duration of the show as a gripe.

I go along with Morrisons thoughts by and large.

Did Tony actually say they have won the Friday night wars and that can be shown in court or something?

Thank goodness someone else thinks this. I was starting to think I was being too hard on her. She's painfully mediocre at every single thing she does, which, in my eyes, still makes her at least slightly better than Jade, cause... oof, that's an overhyped person if I've ever seen one. Not really sure where Ruby goes from here.

There was a Smackdown that moved to FS1 at the same time as Rampage and Rampage won the night and the running joke actually became about the Bunny being a bigger draw than Roman Reigns because they had segments go head to head and Rampage beat Smackdown during it.

The court thing is when MLW sued WWE for being a monopoly Jerry McDevitt used what I just said as evidence that WWE was not.

I'm more bothered by how Britt is booked than any of her weaknesses as a performer. It's about getting her over and not the division. Allot of people have been complaining about Britt winning the Owen. She held the title for 290 days, the second longest after Shida. She didn't need to win the tournament. Most were pulling for Statlander. Kris been gaining allot of fans and seems to be the one with the best chance to dethrone Jade. Considering what a big deal it was to get Martha to partner with AEW for this, the payoff was underwhelming.

Britt is fine winning the Owen Tournament imo. The women's division in AEW is weak so they need to really elevate a few people who they can then use to get other people over.

Britt is pretty much at that point for them so if they build up to Statlander beating her for the title down the line then that'll be fine cause it could help give her that extra credibility when the time is right.

That means nothing if they don't do that or do it right mind but I think having a few women stand out as the top stars will help them establish the division better down the line.

I don't mind Jade's push either. She's still pretty green so her learning whilst holding the secondary title is fine, she has improved in the ring and on the mic in that time and obviously looks like a star so again I have no problem with her position. She's just at the point where they are making her have longer matches and she isn't good enough to have good ones yet but I think she'll get there in time. The bigger problem is if they try and build a unbeaten streak and title run for a long time and keep it interesting as it's starting to wane a bit already and I can't see her keeping it up without the crowd getting bored. Not sure who you have take the title from her at this point though.

Love Jade Cargill but she needs a better manager and that Baddies section is stupid as hell.

As far as Britt goes....If she's not at a level by now with how hard they've pushed her to get others over then I guess we just accept things as they are. I just think it's overkill and even worse when it's this super predictable outcome. I don't know how anyone thought anyone but her and Cole were winning this thing.

I think her name is what's holding her back. You hear Britt Baker and you think, "am I getting a cake?"

And Jade Cargill, "am I getting a green automobile that goes underwater?"

Jade can get away with what they're doing because she's carrying the secondary title for a division that's barely a thing. Plus she looks the part. She's Chyna as the WWF women's champion. I assume the dream match inside the AEW bubble would be Britt Baker v. Jade. I actually believe Britt will be the one that beats Jade going by the booking of the women's division so far.

Sasha comes in and beats jade after her contract expires.

TK will offer it during contract negotiations or something.

did he actually say they won the Friday Night Wars or is that just twitter headlines?

Sasha probably has another year or 2 left but I could see Jade outlasting even Roman.

The "war" is still going on as both companies still have shows on Friday but he did say that he won them once. It was that time Smackdown purposely did the 30 minute overrun.

Tony Khan is the manifestation of the audience he caters to. That is what a smart mark who thinks he has it all figured out looks and acts like. Socially awkward, delusional, overreacting to criticism....I read it all the time on twitter with a lot of these super hardcore AEW fans.

And it ain't even him lol.

Vince has definitely chilled out over the years. If you ever get a chance go back and watch those older shows where he was on Larry King Live, Bob Costas, Michael Lansberg or whatever the fuck his name is, Vince can be a little defensive to put it mildly lol.

I think they should have the Hardy Boys beat Jurassic Express for the the titles. They can hold them for a month or two, and drop them to FTR, and have that be the Hardy's farewell match.

I think the Hardys are trying to stay around. As much as I would like some things about your scenario, I'm not for the Hardys having any type of run. AEW has too many deserving teams.

Like who? And what would we consider DESERVING? Was CM Punk deserving of his win? Hardyz are more well known than Punk will ever be. I think the Hardyz accomplishments in wrestling speak for itself. We've had some really weak tag-team champions in AEW.

But I am curious who should get the nod and why. Ass Boys? Acclaim? A couple Dork Order guys? Just hard to gauge who is deserving of anything in a company with barely any history.

I don't mind the Hardy's wrestling straightforward matches, but I hope they stay clear of ladder matches and jumping off things. They are no longer spring chickens!

I think I got this off-center with "deserving". That has become a word with certain connotations in the wrestling world, and why it could look like I was making a different statement. I meant it more of a based on current work, and what I think they could actually do with it (based on their abilities), than the whole based on past work thing. I am not arguing award, but who gets a promotion based on current merit.

Another way of saying it....I am not looking to start a "You deserve it chant it".

First_I'm not that high on the Hardys. Matt has grown stale to me. Jeff is still willing to throw his body around, but I don't think they're working regular excellent matches, and I think they're here for the "We loved you in WWE" tour at this point. I wouldn't use them for more, and don't see the value.

Choices I would prefer for a few month title reign include, but are not necessarily limited to: FTR, Lucha Bros, BCC, The Acclaimed, Swerve/Lee, JAS, and probably someone else I'm forgetting.

I would choose the Hardys over Varsity Blondes or Hookhausen though.

Yeah I definitely think you using the word "deserving" boxed you in especially when after correcting yourself you're mentioning people like The Acclaimed, Swerve Glory, JAS...........Those are some pretty terrible choices to put above the Hardyz. But again, it was focused around the word "deserving". I wouldn't want to see another Lucha Bros tag title run in AEW it was terrible.

I really don't care in AEW about legacy or tenure for things. It's a young company. But also people get real pedantic about terms. It's like people getting excited about being an Original. You were an unsigned wrestler who joined a promotion that offered you money. That means you should definitely stay above the card than someone who joined 19 months (or whatever) later after their contract expired. Might as well get the wrestler's union going and let them bid seniority for titles.

I think another Lucha run could be better, and I would at least enjoy their matches. Honestly, a lot of teams and people don't have great title runs the first time through. At least there's some potential for someone to get better. Meanwhile, the Hardys just need to pop up for some quick matches and nostalgia, and then let Jeff do whatever he needs to do in between.

But aside from "deserving", would you actually rather see a Hardys title run than giving it to another team?

Punk has had a hell of a few months in AEW, both inside the ring and out. The Hardys have not. That's why Punk is deserving and the Hardys are not. Simple as that. FTR have been on top form. So have other tag teams. That's why they're more "deserving" of a tag title reign than the Hardys are currently.

The Hardy's look like they can barely walk. At least in WWE, for the most part, they didn't have Jeff jumping off ladders or window ledges regularly. I think their time has come and gone. I only suggest them having the titles for a month or two so they can go out on a high note. Maybe become backstage agents and mentor the young talent.

Going backwards I'll answer with yes because it's a loaded question. You're asking me if I'd rather it be the Hardyz or any other team on the roster and that's just ridiculous to me. I get it if you're not a fan of the current run, I 100% get it and if that's where you're coming from I won't beat you up too bad. I just don't see how in any aspect you could look at the Workhorsemen and go yep, I'd rather they get a title run. I think that mentality is why it's extremely difficult for AEW to be anything but the top dog in the hardcore wrestling fan bubble.

You will never see AEW grow when people go oh CM Punk is ok to be World champion despite a laundry list of younger, BETTER wrestlers who have had better matches but Hardyz as tag-team champs....Naw lol. CM Punk is World champion because he's the biggest active singles wrestler they have who cuts good promos. His matches have been mediocre and he was never that great in the ring to begin with. It's his vocals that elevated him not the sloppy springboard clothesline and Pepsi Plunge.

If they can give Jericho who has barely had a 2 star match since joining AEW a long ass World title run, if they can give FTR a forgettable 2 month reign, they can give the Hardyz a run. Why not? Shit they'd be the only team to be WWF, WCW, WWE, TNA, Impact, ROH, and AEW tag champions. They're going to be the only team to ever be WCW and AEW tag champs unless we get the long awaited AEW debuts of Kale and Gravedigger Mark.

I will be honest....I did not consider the case for the Workhorsemen. I think the only people that did are you, Bert, and the parents of the Workhorsemen. Maybe their kids. MAYBE. But definitely not the Workhorsemen themselves.

When I said "another team" I was more thinking of the type/level I had mentioned. I still would rate the Hardys above Hookhausen and the Varsity Blondes.

Still, there are a bunch of teams that I would prefer to see and I think would add a lot more value.

Where we have some shared opinion: I don't think CM Punk as champ grows the brand, but it does hold a certain level of interest and can help them succeed in an area where they have not always been great-storytelling within angles. Punk as Champ can help them make more compelling stories. We agree on why he's champ.

The Hardys, I don't see any of the value that CM Punk brings. CM Punk was a lot of our favorites because oh is mic work, story-telling, etc. People loved the Hardys for...other reasons. Reasons that they can't bring as often anymore.
