I hope this doesn’t turn into a game of who is CM Punk paying homage to this time?

    TK on The Briscoes:
We will have to wait and see I guess but they’re a great team who I have followed for well over 15 years. Who am I kidding? Much longer than that and I think they’re great wrestlers.”
DC is 2 hours from Sandy Fork and Dem Boys owe FTR some payback. There's really no reason for this random match with Brock Anderson and Shotty Lee on Dynamite next week. I'm just sayin'.

LOVE The Briscoes. Jay Briscoe as ROH World champion was the last real moment of joy that I had with ROH that didn't involve Japanese imports or Dalton Castle.

Until I saw that brawl with them and FTR. I want to see on a national tv level. IDC if it's AEW, WWE, ROH, the masses need to see it. What I don't want is people digging up those tweets from Jay Briscoe especially with how Donald Trump TK can be with the Twitter machine. That shit will probably keep them from a contract but as long as we get a few FTR matches I'm golden.

I watched a part of Dynamite. Adam Cole stuff wasn't exciting for me. Kind of enjoyed Wardlow vs. Punk, though it made Punk look very weak. Hopefully we see Wardlow take out Shawn Spears. Looked very much like WWE TV to me, which it didn't seem that way whenever I last watched anything AEW. Only differences are the entrance way and the turnbuckles.

    I'm trying.

I actually liked UE. Which led to mth and Nash trying to kick me out of the NXT thread,

However, I'm not sure of the wisdom of running it back at this level. They sold merch at NXT and popped, but didn't seem to draw ratings (not like many people actually do draw). Just doesn't seem like it will help grow AEW.

If there's ever a true invasion angle that is well-executed, I will retract any critique.

Also, Wardlow needs to dump "Mr. Mayhem". Doesn't need WarDog either. Should be just Wardlow. His merch should just read "Wardlow, Mother Fucker"

    You would think that.

You just go chant war dog, as you wear your "Mr Mayhem shirt" over your Christy Hemme-Powered autographed tank top, while wearing your Roman Reigns "The Guy" gym pants, and drink out of your Sparky Plugg freezer mug.

But you do it alone, because I'm not there for it.

The only time NXT beat AEW in the demo it was on cards with Adam Cole or UE.

Demo doesn't mean near as much as it used to, as a lot companies are actually trying to broaden appeal. Looking at ad cost tracking, the demo mark-up is getting smaller and smaller, and largely non-existent.

Regardless those ratings estimates were still typically within MOE, and not sustained. It was close enough where measurement error was often as likely a source as actual viewership. The overall trend has not been kind to NXT and resulted in the move. UE was near omnipresent when NXT was basically moved out of direct competiation.

And look, I own a UE shirt. I liked those weekly shows better than the current greenies (although there are some I like).

I just don't see evidence that they can expand the base. Particularly if they run a similar play.

Rumor is Cody is working without a contract. Would be interesting if he went somewhere else. No desire to see him in WWE though. Unless it's a surprise Rumble showing only to be eliminated by Madcap Moss.

Take into consideration who brags about the "Key demo" which literally no wrestling fan or really any dirt sheet idiot spoke about until AEW. Imagine 25 years ago and Bert is like "Well, Raw beat Nitro in the key demo!!" Shit back then it actually mattered. Now, not so much because advertisers don't solely rely on television to advertise these days.

It would be fucking hilarious if it was Cody. The WWE already showed AEW who runs this shit by putting Jericho on a WWE show. Notice you don't see any contracted WWE talent going on an AEW show. Jericho talking all that shit and jumps at the chance to be back on WWE programming.

Cody....All that slighting of Triple H-while saying he's his favorite and learned so much-would be hilarious. I'm not a big WWE mark, but I do enjoy when talent of any kind shit on the WWE so hard and then go back the second Vince allows it.

I want Stardust in AEW. Or on the show Heels where he goes into the multi verse of wrestling and demands a match with Jack Spade.

And people are already speculating it's a storyline for Cody's reality show.

Hmm. Interesting. Maybe they're trying to get some kind of footage of Cody and Tony having a Bret-Vince Wrestling with Shadows moment?

I would even go as far as bringing in Ascension, obviously under a different name. I enjoyed their trio. Not to mention, they could easily say Kris Statlander brought Stardust over to AEW.

How would Broken Matt Hardy work into this? Wasn't he some type of celestial being?

Even though the dude was stuck in some bullshit here and there in WWE and AEW he's been my 2nd favorite wrestler next to Asuka, pretty much since CM Punk left WWE.

Do you think 25 years ago when Sting was hanging from the rafters with Macho Man Randy Savage about to fight off the nWo that he was thinking he'd still be doing this?

    Good on Mox.

If they keep Britt appearing with Adam, that will mitigate some of my earlier concern about them just running Undisputed Era back.

Great Moxley promo. Wasn’t intentional but he absolutely neutered Jericho’s feeble attempt to get GYF over.

I thought Cody did a nice job navigating the crowd through his promo. It was certainly a good promo and will have people talking. I don’t get why he needed to go with the Jay Lethal route and the Brodie route. Those felt a little too forced.

I’m very curious to see how the Anna/Jade match goes.

    Sting is something else.

I find everything Cody does to be an eye rolling bore. Crowd was into it at first but then they wanted that shit to end halfway through.

Absolutely, just looks a lot healthier. Its hard for people to be perfect, and never have a relapse. I hope if he does, people will be understanding. We're all rooting for Mox.

I actually liked Cody's promo quite a bit, and think he won the crowd a bit (ever so slightly), which is a significant accomplishment in and of itself. That's going to be hard to sustain week after week, but good on him for going for it.

It was good but the more I thought about it, it took shots at things that didn't necessarily need it. Like, why take a shot at the tag feud that's eventually going to happen (reDRagon & The Bucks) and you're not even involved in it? Same with the Brody/Brodie thing, then mentioning Lethal and Black. The stuff actually in relation to him and the match with Guevara was solid but the rest just felt like a State of the Union (according to Cody) address.

I can see that. But to me it came across as his passion and overall feelings of ownership with the company. It felt like it tied into his opening statement. He can't disconnect from his journey, which is why he's not turning, etc.

Certainly that's just my read, and sure it came across differently to some. But I could kinda feel it.

For sure. That came across well, but if the main point was going to be promoting the match, I'm not sure that will resonate and just will get lost in the shuffle.

He turned simply for the choice in tie he wore, to me lol.

The match felt a little secondary to me, so I more thought that could get lost in the shuffle/drama surrounding Cody.

And after seeing Cesaro rock the tie game a few months ago, everybody else is at least 2 levels down.

Yeah, it definitely seemed like they were willing to give credit where it was due. Cody has his finger on the pulse of SM-fueled smark world of today (which is incredible).

Huge miss from the Gunn Club - wtf didn’t they do a 5 second pose with Christian after the beat down? Then it would’ve been a nice “statement made”.

    100%. Love me some Wardlow.

Sting, my man. Love me some good old fashioned booking with Darby returning for the finish. And nobody could do it quite as explosively as Darby Allin.

Can’t quite find the video at the moment, but I saw a video on the twitters where Sting/Darby get it of their car to chant A E DUB with some fans in the car in front of them. That must have been so fun

I would watch a web series about the misadventures of Sting and Darby as they travel the road and encounter the world together.

When the Grave Doesn't Sting: A Story of an Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson.

Seems weird that Rampage is Live in the same place they were two days ago. I wonder if there's a reason they didn't just tape Rampage then. TBS title is supposed to main event which seems like a weird choice unless something is going to happen.
