One of my favourite parts of the show was Lambert cracking on Cody’s tattoo and fans took a moment from booing him to applauding it. Also his “I prefer Jim Cornette!” comeback to the Heyman burn from Brandi.

Also shame they had a minor misstep with the Malakai Black segment when they cut back too early and you could see him walking to the back.

Cody would probably put more of his moments on his neck if he were a giraffe.

I’m intrigued as to what they do with Omega upon his return from injury. Have him and his ego degenerate further and want revenge on Hangman or have him “see the light”, bin Callis for good and be face. I think either way he could pull it off.

As banged up as Omega is, I'd be fine if he retired or at the very least worked a very part time schedule. His revelation about experiencing vertigo during matches is also concerning.

That’s a fair point. I hope he can continue and they can sort something part-time for him at least but if he can’t continue then also understandable.

    And Elevation…

But maybe he should ask Christian for advice. Christian would probably say that he’s spinned U2 records in the past and is fine really.

Jericho's pyro going off for the comeback run in was deffo lame. And was there a timing issue? Garcia and commentary seemed to be stalling to me. Would have made more sense for Jericho to appear before his buddy was taken out with the weapon. We'll see if that's where they go with Kingston being pissed.

WWE gets dicked on for camera cuts and I was paying particular attention to Jade and Thunder and it looked just the same to me?

JR lamenting heel Jade Cargill for sipping a bottle of water, yet super baby Adam Page was doing the same thing 10 minutes into his match with Danielson the other week. Made me chuckle a bit.

That main event and Chuck Taylor. Chuck gets criticised for his physique quite a bit, but for me, there was one of the 6 in that match with a worse physique than him and that's Adam Cole. He really should work on that.

Kyle O'Reilly is a terrible, terrible promo. I mean, he's clear, doesn't stumble over his words or anything. He's an overacter, basically. Perhaps trying too hard. Much like Ruby Soho, though she is better.

I tend to pick up on negative things, but I do enjoy AEW, honest. Nice to see JR back, but Taz is much better.

I can see how this sounds like sour grapes since she’s gone, but this honestly feels like perspective AEW desperately needs.

Sounds fine and accurate to me.

Swole just wants to magically make black people champions who aren't ready. She claims to care about other "people of color" but everyone knows that's all she's ever cared about.

Maybe if they get Keith Lee she'll get her wish, he should be a star instantly.

I could see Swerve as TNT champion.

They might give Jade the TBS title but she's so green I'd rather see it on Ruby so we can get good open challenge matches with people like Ember Moon who hopefully joins.

Diversity just for the sake of it is terrible and Swole claims to be against pandering but that's exactly what she wants. Her matches with Diamante sucked. Swole has charisma but can't wrestle.

    Khan’s reply seems pretty stupid.
From my perspective, AEW has been pretty diverse from the beginning. Their first three womens' champions have either been asian or native american (transgender), half of the first tag champs was black, their current tag champs are Mexican, their most recent TNT champion is of hispanic origin, Jade Cargill is positioned to be the first TBS champion. Sonny Kiss got plenty of tv time last year (?), etc. Swole herself was featured prominently in her program with Britt Baker and Swole actually won that blowoff match. So her saying this seems...odd. Tony Khan never said Swole, as a black person, wasn't good enough as I've heard people saying. He said her "wrestling" wasn't good enough.

It's really about the optics and how Tony Khan made it a personal attack when what Swole said, incorrect or not, was very respectful. I get he was probably offended that it was implied he's racist, but it was still a really unprofessional move that doesn't really look great for the leader of a company. The fact he felt the need to back it up with examples of all the brown people he's pushed/employed is tone deaf, and he has a record of getting defensive when called out on anything.

I agree that diversity isn't nearly as much of an issue in AEW as some make it out. But I don't think Tony's response was really well thought-out and was emotional move that makes him come off like a dick.

    Spot on here.

A simple statement regarding AEW's commitment to diversity and any significant achievements was all that was needed.

This is Tony's first foray beyond businesses is his father has had direct control of. One would expect some growing pains. He also might learn why most companies don't court social media drama.

I agree that diversity isn't nearly as much of an issue in AEW as some make it out. But I don't think Tony's response was really well thought-out and was emotional move that makes him come off like a dick.
Dude, cmon. There's nothing respectful about the implication of racism and he has every right to call her out on how wrong she is. I will say he probably shouldn't have added she wasn't a good wrestler but I lol'd when I read it because we all already knew that.

Have you actually read the article, though? She never said anything nearly as bad as the headline makes it out to be. Half of it wasn't even about race. She even said she had no problems with Tony Khan and wants the company to succeed. But everyone acts as if she said, "Tony Khan is a racist piece of shit."

What Mazer said is right. Acknowledging that the company doesn't have the diversity problem that's being projected is fine. But the reactionary tone is unprofessional.

She didn't imply that he was a racist. She said they could do better.

Disagree or not, Tony took it to her as a performer.

    From the interview -
"I believe that the company is making better strides than before, but a couple of things need to be fixed. You have to be able to call people out because not everything is perfect. I hope they listen to this with an open heart and not just, 'Ah, she's just saying this because of XYZ.' I genuinely want them to succeed.

You can't say a bunch of dumb shit and then try to be like no offense at the end and expect people not to reply.

A reply is one thing. The manner of response is another.

Big Swole said nothing offensive and no matter what her take, she said it respectfully. Tony did the opposite of that.

I disagree it was respectful. It's not respectful to accuse people of racism in any way. It's inherently disrespectful.

It's whatever, Lio Rush claims to have talked with him and claims everything is cool and I never thought Tony was racist or anything anyway. But there's no denying he didn't need to respond like that. It's basically the equivalent of a partner trying to tell you something that's been bothering them, and you saying, "Shut the fuck up, you're stupid." You can disagree respectfully, especially if the person bringing up their concerns are doing so respectfully.

I read what she said. She wants more black people as main eventers, regardless of whether or not they're ready, and doesn't count other minorities as adding to diversity.

Not everything someone says a company needs more diversity, are they accusing someone of being racist.

To say that a person can't state they would like to see more diversity, particularly as they are speaking about how their ethnicity is written...seems like quite a standard.

It's also interesting that the click bait analysis ignored that she also expressed that she'd like to see some changes in the way the women's division is handled.

Big Swole on her podcast said that a lack of diversity and structure led to her and AEW mutually deciding to part ways.

On her Call In podcast (h/t Fightful), Swole discussed how the structure within the company seemed to be “a little off”, pointing out the lack of time for women and new talent coming in.

“I know fans of the company don't take criticism well sometimes. But know this, this is someone from the inside, the structure is a little off,” she said. “It's fine to be loose, but I like to have a little bit more structure. I felt like the women shouldn't have gone through everything they went through just to get on time. You're signed to this big company, you should get time. All these men are getting time, but the women aren't getting anything or you're not putting people on TV because more people are coming in. There are more people coming in, but you don't have enough product for all of these people.”

Swole also discussed what she felt was a lack of diversity, particularly within AEW’s hierarchy.

“I do not beat around the bush when it comes to diversity and my people,” she said. “There is no representation, truly, and when there is, it does not come across in the black community as genuine, at all. And I don't know why everybody is so afraid to accept it or say it, but it's not a good look. What happens is, you have this wonderful company that treats people like family, but there is nobody that looks like me that is represented at the top. They are not in the room with them. They’re not helping to necessarily influence decisions, but to explain why certain slang, why they are certain words that shouldn't be said. There is no one else who can explain our culture and experience except for us."

“I believe that [AEW] is making better strides than before, but a couple of things need to be fixed,” she later added. “You have to be able to call people out because not everything is not perfect. I hope they listen to this with an open heart and not just, 'Ah, she's just saying this because of XYZ.' I genuinely want them to succeed. I love art. I love to be creative and I love wrestling and I want it to succeed and I want the people in it to succeed if they are genuine people. I want WWE to succeed. I just want wrestling to flourish and I don't want it to be a long-forgotten, Tartarian sport where 'in the old days, we used to wrestle,' I want nothing but the best, but I also want the change and application to happen. With promises you made to be diverse, I want to see that. Not just with black people. I would love to see a dark-skinned Latina or Latino or Hispanic or just something, more Asians. I feel like Asians, Indians do not get love. They just don't. It's such a big gap. I hate the fact that I turn on the TV and it's the same stuff over and over again, like the Truman show. Hopefully, they get the message.”

    You should proofread your posts.

Why dark skinned? What is this racist "white passing" nonsense that disregards the achievements of people like Dante Martin? Bowens and Caster aren't dark enough? Starks? Got to be Hobbs for it to count?

Proud n Powerful should be tag champs soon. Rosa will win the belt from Britt. But those don't count and only Jade possibly winning the belt does because she's "dark-skinned."

I don't disagree that what she said is inaccurate. Especially that last but, because I think the Hispanic representation in AEW has been one of the strongest representations in any American-based promotion that wasn't Lucha Underground.

But in the least, I don't see how you can see Tony Khan's tweet professional or good for PR. He didn't even have to respond because a lot of people know that Swole's take is wrong.

Okay, now I wasn't going to get real into this, but I feel like I have to say my peace. I emphasized some stuff in bold to make my points. First off, so, I'm guessing Brandi doesn't count? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't one of the reasons people give her shit is because she's unapologetically "black". Like her code-switching statements she made last year, people gave her crap for it. But as a black man that "talks white" I can see where she was coming from with that. I mean, someone literally wanted me to do the Carlton dance one time or "go ghetto". I...was not...well, that's for another day. But what does "genuine" mean for the "black community"? Sorry to keep using quotes, and if I'm off base I'll hear people out. But what exactly is the black community and what is genuine to them? Far as I know, we're not homogonies.

Second, since when do the asian wrestlers not get attention? People like Cornette have shitted on the fact that AEW has prominently featured the Joshi wrestlers from the beginning. Suzuki, Ishi, and others from New Japan have had main events on the show. Wheeler Yuta was hyped up as a big deal. Unless I'm missing something, what more do you want? Not saying you shouldn't want to see people from all over get representation on tv, but they've done way more in that regard than the other company without making it stereotypical. Most of the time.

For the women specifically, I know people want two women's matches on tv, but people forget that women's wrestling is still pretty niche. If the story calls for it, I'm all for having more than one match on tv. But they also only have two shows on network tv, and from what I've seen, AEW does a pretty good job of having a niche match or segment on each show. Opener, tag, women, specialty or main event.

One final thing, and I won't rant on this further, but one of the things that people like about AEW is that it is a pretty loose atmosphere. Do you really want Tony Khan to micromanage everything like Vince does? Tear up scripts before showtime? Khan has storyline plans and from what I've seen doesn't deviate that much if he can help it.

Keep in mind, I actually liked what I saw from Big Swole when others were saying she was terrible. Most curious this whole situation.

You should keep a consistent story. First you're mad because you think she implied Tony Kahn was a racist. Now you're mad that she.....didn't also include enough light-skinned people (even though she referenced Latinos and Dark-skinned Latin0s-separately).

First, you said she said that she didn't count other minorities. She specifically mentioned separate groups. Dark-skinned latinos were just one of the groups. She also said that they were making progress, but wanted to see more. She did speak at points at her perspective as a Black person in particular:

“I do not beat around the bush when it comes to diversity and my people,” she said. “There is no representation, truly, and when there is, it does not come across in the black community as genuine, at all. And I don't know why everybody is so afraid to accept it or say it, but it's not a good look. Do you find that statement offensive? Is that something someone is not allowed to think?

Her entire comments were part of long dialogue. My copy and paste earlier wasn't the extent of it.

Swole has been a broken record for months. She contradicts herself in her own podcast or whatever it is. She complains about pandering and at the same time wants more of it.

How many threads do we have to read from white as vanilla frosting Proud Boy supporting Bert tell black people what's good enough for them?

Tony Khan would've done himself a favor by sitting this one out BUT if he didn't address it then people would still come at him so it's a lose-lose situation.

The reality is, there isn't much diversity in AEW but there isn't that much diversity in pro wrestling as well. But I mean, AEW did make a transgender their women's champion and their first tag-team champions were SCU-which contains a black dude.

Where do you see the contradiction?

Because it does seem a lot if what you based your assertions on were taken out of context.

See, to Bert it's pandering. That's the disconnect. Bert is from a time where everyone was given a trophy for simply showing up to field day and he was raised by people who told him racism was a myth. A hip hop head who hates the message. Weird right? Like those Republicans who were blasting Rage Against The Machine.

Bert probably wish Tom Morello would stick to rock music and stay out of politics.

Shows how little you pay attention. Fenix speaks English 99% of the time. Penta, not so much. I'm not even sure what your point is.

Another idiot who likes to tell people of color what is good enough. We're just missing 1 more idiot, let's hope they've learned.

I like when people say there's a lack of diversity and they're still pointing out the lack of diversity. Oh wow, Lucha Bros have been tag-team champions for a month or two looks like All Elite Whites is ok. Remember how some of you defend the Proud Boys by talking about how they made a Latino their leader after the fact? Kind of the same thing. I mean, even nowadays if you're HIspanic you don't even get that as an option. You're basically white now as well it's weird.

Props to AEW though. Black History Month rolls around they didn't push any black folks, they didn't have any of them win a match, they didn't do any month long shout out to the people of color not just in wrestling but in general that made a difference.

One thing I wanted to mention is that when AEW has a street fight or some other match of that sort (Lights Out, Parking Lot Brawl, etc), you know you're going to get a hell of a fight. Conti, Anna Jay, Penelope Ford, and the Blood Bunny, as I now call her, put on a hell of a show and that should have been the main event. A little tidbit that I noticed a few months back watching some of the blogs Bunny does, is that she'll be all happy and nice with everyone, munching on Oreos, but if Tay or Anna are in the background, or walking by she'll switch to "fuck you bitch, I hate you," then be back to normal. I forgot what initially started their blood feud, but it's a small detail, yet still great.

Nice. I was becoming a fan of Jake Atlas in NXT. He wasn't doing much but he had potential.

Yeah, happy to see him there. He was contemplating leaving wrestling altogether, but looks like he's got things in order.

If you're getting paid 6 figures you start to second guess whatever venture you had in mind outside of wrestling pretty fast.

Glad to see Atlas get signed. Was digging him in NXT and was bummed he was let go and yeah, he was talking about taking time away but it seems he's got his passion back, so that's cool.

Forgot to comment on it earlier, as well, but also stoked about Mercedes Martinez. Big fan.

I want AEW to sign Max the Impaler now that ROH isn't a thing...

There's way better women's wrestlers they should consider instead. They also already have Abadon.

Fun fact: you can have more than one spooky monster wrestler. Also, they could be a team.
Also, Max rules. Watch this match:

You say that but AEW seems to really not want to have good women's wrestling whatsoever. The only good women's match they've ever had was the hardcore match with Thunder Rosa v. Britt Baker and even that was probably a 4/10 in comparison to the majority of matches just in NXT over the last year or 2.

They just signed Mercedes Martinez.....She's basically Kurt Angle in comparison to everyone else but outside of AEW she's about Brie Bella level.

Starting the day off strong, aren't we homeboy? AEW's women's roster is so much better than NXT's right now though. Saying AEW doesn't want good women's wrestling doesn't pass the sniff test.

Not really. Discussing with an AEW super mark lame like you on what is good/bad in AEW is pointless. If they had better competition in AEW they would probably have better matches. Funny thing is, the only time they've ever had a watchable match in AEW was against each other.

You constantly trying to get my personal information doesn't pass the sniff test. Shocked you haven't sent me a private message yet today asking for my Instagram like a fucking weirdo.

And no, AEW's women's roster isn't "so much better" than NXT's right now when NXT has Io Shirai who is lightyears better than the entire AEW women's roster combined x2.

Jade Cargill is probably the only female in that entire company who has any upside. Everyone else is just terrible and/or vanilla. The worst is no doubt Red Velvet. I'd rather see Brandi Rhodes pretend she's black than see Red Velvet ever again.

That's the job, pretend to look the part and everything. Nobody believes Adam Cole could beat anyone in a real fight, but I bet you people think Jade could beat his ass in a real fight.

What does that have to do with skin color?
