    Favorite backstage story

I think my favorite backstage story is when Nailz cornered Vince McMahon and yelled at him for 15 minutes while the Berzerker watched the door. Nailz wasn't around long but he was just great.

At this point I think it would have to be the Artful Dodger's story about Vince watching the monitor backstage as the Gobbledy Gooker came out of his shell. And then the crowd booing it.

"Ah haha! They fucking hate him! They're booing the shit out of him!"

Off the top of my head and excuse me if I jumble facts up. Maybe not all favorites, some are head scratchers. Like hearing it and thinking to yourself "They really did that?!"

Bret pulling Shawn's hair out and Cornette keeping it.

    Everyone shitting in Lawler's crown.

    X-Pac shitting in everything.

Perfect shaving Kid's eyebrows off before his first picture shoot for Kid's Hasbro figure. Kid then super gluing the inside of Billy Gunn's cowboy hat in a wrongful retaliation.

Jacques Rougeau knocking Dynamite Kid's teeth out. Just because of Pat Patterson apparently freaking out while it was happening.

Owen filling Vince's office with hogs.

JBL hazing Edge by soaping his ass cheecks up in the shower.

Jericho getting into it with Goldberg and Lesnar.

Paul Bearer torturing The Undertaker with cucumbers.

Big Show's air matress getting popped on a tribute to the troops trip.

    Joey Styles knocking out JBL.

Booker T freaking out over people drinking his Red Bulls.

The Godwinns passing the slop bucket around.

Perfect pulling Lex's tassles off his Narcissist tights and Lex getting peeved about it.

The Steiners messing with everyone except Ron Simmons because Ron was unfuckable.

I like the one where Dick Slater, Wahoo McDaniel, Tommy Rich and Andre are all out drinking at a bar. Some guy made an offensive comment about Tommy Rich's wife and it all kicked off. They take it outside to the parking lot where the other guy gets out a knife so Wahoo pulls out his gun and starts pistol whipping him. The gun accidentally goes off and Slater gets shot in the leg. When the police turn up Slater assures them he was shot by a sniper and they let them all go. Slater was back in the ring within a few weeks.

I thought everyone knew that story!

I like the one about Big Dave Batista believing his own hype a bit at a SummerSlam commercial shoot and Booker T battering him.

Maybe poor choice of words. He definatley blasted JBL a good one on a overseas trip. I heard a couple people in interviews say "knocked out" but that is all hear say. Telegram, telephone, telewrestler. That's why I prefaced my post with a sorry if I jumble facts up. I do like that Styles wouldn't be messed with anymore and he layed one into JBL.

My story favorite is Shawn before WM 14 pitching a fit to losing to Austin. He keeps telling Vince, his back will heal, but its a giant lie, so he doesn't lose at Mania. Vince tells him that Austin is the guy now and HBK sulks away. HBK lets it be known to someone he is going to screw Austin somehow. Taker gets wind of it. Before Shawn goes to the ring, Taker is near the entrance pounding his fist into his hand. He tells Shawn to do the right thing. Shawn and Austin have a great match, but you can see Shawn visibly kicking the exit door during Austin's press conference. I like the story, because my other favorite story is Taker pounding on Vince's door after the screw job to make Vince apologize to Bret which lead to Vince getting punched. Kinda wonder what would have happened if Taker knew about Montreal.

Didn't that WCW referee, Billy Silverman, quit WWE over JBL's 'hazing'? That was also the shower thing, if memory serves.

My favorite backstage story is the one where Hardcore Holly talks about how on an overseas tour he stepped up to Hall, Nash, and HBK backstage one night all by himself threatening to beat up Hall and Shawn and nobody wanted anything to do with him. Then both Nash and Hall completely shit on the story. One of them, probably Hall, said that Holly would have been fired on the spot during that period had he even attempted something like that lol.

Still, the idea of Sparkplug Bob Holly who wasn't even as big as Shawn stepping to Big Daddy Cool is just hilarious to me. Nash would have fucked him up so bad.

Was Bob Holly even that tough? I know he roughed people up in the ring, but weren't they rookies too afraid to do anything back for fear of their jobs? Except Brock Lesnar who dropped him on his neck

I never heard him whipping any ass. I think it was just assumed he was tough. There are so many wrestlers who work themselves in a shoot and think they're actually tough until Joey Styles knocked out JBL with one punch and there went all the tough guys. I'm not saying they're all bitches, I'm just saying a lot of the older generations came up in a time where they had to sell the business so they're getting in fights and shit all the time.

But nowadays....I crack up when I hear people respond to others on twitter like "You wouldn't say that to Triple H's face!" The fuck I wouldn't. Like the dude is just going to hit me with the drop knee smash and pedigree me on the streets lol.

The scary thing is he's right about 90% of the time but 90% of that time it's nothing any random fan wouldn't predict anyway.

Meltzer: "Asuka will probably lose this Sunday"

    Asuka wins

Meltzer: "Seems WWE has some plans for Asuka now that she actually won."

He words a lot of his stuff in a way that leaves it open for him to say "I said PROBABLY". Well, he actually just says Y'Know, about 20000x in a 30 minute clip but you know.

One of my favourite backstage stories was through the Network's Story time. Jake's snake Damien biting a ref backstage and Macho masterfully getting Jake off the hook for it.

JBL is a big man coward. We've all dealt with these assholes. They're big and strong but can't fight for shit so they throw sucker punches or wait till they have 4-5 friends. Which always blew me away. If you're a big motherfuckin strong dude you could probably hold your own if you just tried. JBL is one of those guys who wrestlers let his reputation more than anything scare them. Notice the only stories you hear where JBL tried to step to someone he gets his ass beat every time.

I got to 157 and had to put it down. I didn't even dent the overall list. True or not, there are some crazy stories there!

I posted a whole list of these on another thread a while back. This is one of my favorites because of its detail and it's likelihood of being true:

    Cast:
    Ahmed Johnson
    Chris Candido
    Tammy Sytch (AKA Sunny)
    Shawn Michaels

"Ahmed Johnson did a lot of coke back around 1996 at the height of his WWF pay. I don't think I have to tell you that Chris and Tammy enjoy their fair share of nose candy. Well once they had blown through their cash but were still jonesing, they got desparate. They asked Ahmed for an eight ball on credit. He laughed and said, "Black people don't believe in credit. But we can barter." Chris asked what he wanted and Ahmed nodded in her direction. Chris looked at Tammy who shrugged before he said, "Well hey don't hurt her, okay?" So like twenty minutes later Ahmed finishes and Tammy leaves his room with the tiny, paper envelope. Instead of going back and using it with Chris (who was in their room freaking out), she did the coke with Shawn Michaels and spent the night in his room. A few hours later a frantic Candido starts banging on Ahmed's door. Ahmed answers the door and Candido asks, "Is Tammy here?" Ahmed shrugs and Chris says, "Where the fuck is Tammy?" Ahmed says he doesn't know because she left hours ago. Candido immediately abandons his search and says, "Well did she take the dope with her?" The next morning he still hasn't seen Tammy so he goes to the front desk where he runs into Shawn Michaels in the lobby. Shawn walks up to Candido and pushes a nostril close, sniffs, and says, "Thanks for the bump, Chris." Chris asked where Tammy was and Shawn said, "She's probably back in your room now." Candido stormed up to see her, got in a big argument, went to the building, and quit on the spot. The agent told him he couldn't quit w/o a written notice. So he picked up a booking sheet, flipped it over, and wrote: "I quit. Chris Candido" And that was the end of his WWF career."

Cody Rhodes telling a story about Ted DiBiase Jr. Not the funniest story ever on it's own merits, but Cody tells it well

Who told this story? The only part I know to even be remotely true is the way he quit lol. Never heard the rest.

I've heard that story too. I remember reading it in a site like The Rosk posted earlier and hearing it from wrestling friends of my past. Fun tale, don't know if I believe it 100% but I feel like there's a chance some of that happened. I can see Sunny ditching Candido. I can see Shawn saying that stuff in 96. Ahmed might be a stretch but crazier things have happened.

No clue who the story originally comes from, just found it on a list with hundreds of other wrestling rumors/stories.

That's why it's one of my favorites on the list. Being that it's so detailed, to me, there's an equal chance of it being true or absolutely false. Based on what is out there about all parties involved, I would think that there's at least some truth to the tale...

Thinking more on it, something crazy must have happened for Candido to just come storming in and quitting. He was already getting fucked with so something big must have happened for him to say fuck it, I'm done but who knows?

I remember WWF Magazine being $2.50 in the local 7-11. Last time I saw a WWE Magazine on a newsstand it was something ridiculous like $15.

I had a subscription when I was younger. I'd wait all month to get that magazine. I remember being pissed off at the mailman for delivering the issue with Bret holding Owen in The Sharpshooter in their SummerSlam 94 Cage match and the cover was all torn and mangled. Dick.

The one story of Vince paying the guy off on a plane to get some stranger to put out his cigarette is great.

I listened to some old STWW podcasts when I run out of new ones. Listened to one and reheard a classic rib. The story of people being in a limo after WM9. JR had the WCW phone number list and Bruce went about pranking people as Dusty. Savage says lets call Rick. Bruce thought he meant Ric Flair but Savage gave him Rick Rude's number instead. Bruce calls Rick as Dusty, schedules a early morning meeting that Rude shows up to. Rude has to wait until mid-morning early afternoon for Dusty to show up too. Rude was pissed.

    LMFAO

And Rick Rude was one of those guys that people respected but could get pissed off after awhile. He was probably ready to beat someone's ass lol.

Can't quite remember if Savage had to call him or Bruce was on the phone with Rude being threatened and Savage took the phone but Savage basically had to tell Rude it was a rib on Bruce rather than a rib on him and took the heat for it. Great story though, want to say it's the WM9 podcast. Listen to Bruce tell it, I don't do it justice.

They don't put out a monthly magazine anymore, only special issues, so that's probably got something to do with it.

This thread made me think of that one. It does have a pretty good pay off at the end.
