My big fly in show last year was All In. This year I'm going to Texas. Yee-haw.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Yuji Nagata team up with Jeff Cobb, the NEVER Title Match, The British Title Match, Switchblade vs. Okada, and of course Omega/Tanahashi.

Not the greatest opening match in wrestling history which I am sure let down a bunch of people, but that was damn good.
well that was damn good. surprised to see ospreay win, i had it pegged as an ibushi win and an ospreay win in a rematch. the rematch should main event one of the new beginning shows.
Terrific opener. Chuffed Ospreay won. Loved the tree of woe slapping spot.
So, I made the dumb decision of moving out into my living room, which meant having to log back in to get back to the stream. Big mistake. The server's overloaded and I had to find an illegal stream to catch the last few minutes of that match. But DAMN. What a final few minutes.
Little surprised with the outcome but what a fucking match.
i like the idea of selling ospreays elbow to the back of the head as a killer, match ending spot at heavyweight. it certainly looks good enough for it.

This show's going to be a long one, keeping the tags and Juice/Cody fairly short seems a good idea. I'd still rather Shingo wasn't messing about in the Jr. tag division.

Tuned out a bit there. Less drama for Juice's win than I'd expected. Farewell to Cody, wearing the Jacksonville Jaguars colours was a fun touch.
Intermission before the big four last matches now I imagine. Although they already announced all the 2019 shows and I don't think they did one last year so maybe not. Jr Title up now. Could really do with a break.

Matches a lot shorter than expected tonight. 1 match over 16 minutes so far on the main card. There were 7 over that last year. Is Omega/Tanahashi gonna be like 2 hours or something.

Jr. Title match was disappointing and I think Ishii/ZSJ and Okada/White needed a few more minutes to have been really great but it's been a good show with good matches throughout. Hope the big one delivers now.

Couple of matches didn't quite live up to my expectations but the last two surpassed them. Great show. Looking forward to seeing what happens tomorrow at Dash.
I loved that show. A couple of the matches were short but I didn't feel undelivered. It was nice to have a show with a lot of big matches not clock in at just under 10 hours. Everybody got their shit in, a few big results, then an all time classic main event. Loved the reverse rana counter to the One Wing Angel, not only aesthetically great but excellent storytelling.
Very tempted to get tickets for the London show in August. How big is the venue?

I've performed there 4 times (5, in February) it's a really nice venue. I'm not much of a Puro guy, but I should probably go to that. I live in London so it's an easy as fuck journey for me.
I need to stop having favorite NJPW wrestlers. First Shibata and then this year WK13 was sorely missing Takahashi.
I havent been following much this year so Jay White kinda came out of nowhere for me. Looked like a million bucks tonight. Some of the newer faces look interesting to me, especially Taiji Ishimori. Also for all the build Omega got to finally beating Okada for the title, he lost it fairly quick. Pretty surprising to me. Id hate to think he's on his way out considering he's a big part of NJPW being on such a big upward trajectory.
Edit: Also Jericho is fucking ace.

Tanahashi really is the man lol. How he can still deliver on this level after all these years is mind blowing. Same with Jericho. Interested to see what's next for Naito as he's easily my favorite NJPW. His look alone should make him a billionaire.
I've yet to see a single match that makes me understand the love for Jay White. Him going over Okada at Wrestle Kingdom is a fucking HUGE. Can Omega Jr live up to what they're laying out for him? Maybe if he stops wearing those corny ass gloves.

Legit had my jaw dropped for a solid 20 seconds after seeing the result of Okada/White. Didn't expect that at all, but super into it. Jay deserves it with all the work he's put in, and Okada will only grow stronger as a character because of it. Great match, too. First one since ZSJ/Ishii that hit that next level.
Omega having a pre-WK package with Undertale graphics, made by Toby Fox and Temmie theirselves, and then coming out to the fucking Hyper Asriel theme?

How's next year going to work then with the split shows? Say one thing about New Japan, they're ambitious this coming year with the big Dallas show, the London show, the bigger show for the Junior final and splitting the Dome shows. I wonder if they'll just build to 6 big matches apiece with 2 multi-man tags with the guys from the other night mixed with the dads? Or maybe they utilise the dads and build to, say, a Nagata vs. Suzuki retirement match or something of that ilk on one of the nights. Like this year's shows, for example, would have become:

Summat like that, with an odd job tag as the first pre-show and the second getting a RAMBO. Seems mad that they're doing it. I think WWE are in the position to do so with their bloated roster and part timers, I can't see it in New Japan.
is it really split shows, though? i was under the impression they're just doing new year's dash in the dome as well, maybe beefing up that card a bit somehow, but not making WK a two night thing.

NY Dash:
After a day of somehow avoiding spoilers, finally watched WK. Even got up at 3 am to feel like I was watching it live and I will say, this delivered big time.
I'm horrible at predictions, so I was a bit surprised that I got all of them right except for the NEVER gauntlet. Like someone else said, I'm done with the 3-way tags for a while. I like both guys, but Cody/Juice was kinda trash. Jr Title match was a bit disappointing as well, never got out of first gear. Ibushi/Ospreay was a bit more of a slugfest than I expected, and I loved every bit of it. Also, to back up what someone else said, ZSJ/Ishii matches don't get old. Pretty new belt too.
Okada/White was good. Not the biggest Switchblade fan, but we need new faces at the top so I'm all for his push. Jericho/Naito was super fun. That main event, my god. I legit haven't been that invested in a match in quite a while, I was on the edge of my seat the whole second half of it. Kudos to both men. Omega's title run wasn't that great, though he tried his best. I'm genuinely curious as to where Tanahashi goes from here. Overall great event, WK always sets the year off in a big way and this was no different.
With the benefit of the heavy expectation being lifted Ospreay vs Ibushi is really good on a rewatch.

Outside of the opener to the main show, I thought the middle of the card was fairly pedestrian. The last three matches were incredibly entertaining though.
Watched the two mains. Really incredible stuff. Jericho looked mental, Naito was scrappy, Kenny proved why he's the best bout machine, and Tana seems to be ageless.
Surely they do Tana/Okada at MSG?

Took me days, but I finally finished. Love this show with all the fat trimmed. Tag matches were the only parts I really checked out on, but everything else was fantastic. Fuckin GO ACE!!!

There is a dude who does YouTube videos that are fucking fantastic but I can't remember his name. He has done like a history of NJPW, he did a bullet club history too.
You're probably thinking of Showbuckle. He got pushed off Youtube due to copyright reasons, but I think he still does a channel on Vimeo. I would highly recommend those.
Finally got to watch this. Tanahashi is the best wrestler ever to live.
If you didn’t tear up watching Tana win that shit, then you didn’t get the match. It was a beautiful match and Tana proved himself as the ultimate babyface there. 13 years on or near the top and he still draws every bit of emotion from the crowd with his selling and comebacks.
But I am looking forward to knife pervert dismantling him and taking the belt. Jay White is so damn good now and Tana is gonna get so much out of him.

Tanahashi is everything Vince wished John Cena was his entire career. Never seemed like the fans of NJPW ever soured on Tanahashi.
Personally, I can't get into Jay White. Seems like a poor man's Kenny Omega. 2 years ago I was watching this guy barely get 3 minutes on ROH TV doing the job in multi-man matches. Now he's beating the 2nd coming of Christ in Okada at the biggest show. But if people are into him who am I to disagree?
