Not sure of the credibility of the source but certainly sounds believable.

Even though the whole thing was devastating, Rowans face on Dynamite the week after was what did me tbh.

My best friend died 9 years ago and I went into a bad depression for a couple years. I still think about him every day and cry about it maybe once a month. Shit ain't easy to get through.

I'm reading on twitter, Israel (government, officials I'm unsure) have contacted WWE and Fox have DEMANDING Sami Zayn be punished for Pro Palestine posts.

    Ridiculous and a little scary.

It sounds like he made some comments that weren't exactly the most educated but I don't know about him needing to be PUNISHED.

He did call Andrew Yang a piece of shit so that was kind of interesting but Yang is also the same guy who was out there threatening to take down WWE.

Well I mean I think he is fairly educated on the situation and is in trouble because he is calling out the deplorable actions of Israel against the Palestinian people.

Eh, you should really read up on what you're talking about and this isn't the place for it. Let's just say you're not 100% correct and neither was he. Like I said, read up on it beyond twitter-or if you're going to use Twitter read up on just who is doing what over there.

Bottomline is Sami Zayn is pushing his agenda and vice versa. This is why the US and other countries want nothing to do with a 2,000 year religious war.

I think as a Muslim of Syrian descent he may have a better handle of the middle East than either of us and it is not wrong of him to say Israel are killing innocent Palestinians under the guise of taking out Hamas.

Indeed if a mod wants to move to world politics, I mean the initial point was because of Sami.

If you guys want to keep that discussion going in earnest, i’ll move those posts. Otherwise, if it is going to be left just as it is there, no need.

Maybe they can bring back Andrew's cousin Jimmy and instead of X-Pac v. Sami Zayn at Summerslam we get Jimmy Wang Yang v. Sami Zayn?

Do you think there are a bunch of cancel culture white people in Japan who fucking hated that gimmick? They're over there watching Velocity pissed as fuck that Vince is making a mockery of cowboys and they're taking it out on Jimmy.

It was such a weird gimmick I didn't know if I was supposed to be offended for a certain group or just offended as a wrestling fan. I never understood what the fuck the joke was.

The joke was pretty obvious. "I'm Asian, but I'm a redneck cowboy."

    Because stereotypes.

Also, I don’t think cancel culture was THAT much for a thing as Jimmy Wang Yang was doing his thing.

If they really did get paid at least $1 million for the stuff from the PPV, I can't really see them turning down more opportunities for cross-over promotion...even if it results in silly stipulations like what we saw.

It's pro wrestling....the silly shit is what elevates it into the mainstream. Imagine how fucking silly it looked when Andy Kauffman came to Memphis. Or when Cyndi Lauper and Liberace were out there at Mania 1.

I mean, at the peak of the WWE were fucking with Ministry of Darkness.

Is it dumb? Yes. Thankfully it's not the norm. I do enjoy reading some Kenny Omega fans talking shit about it and then praising his work in DDT.

Keith Lee said he needs more time to collect his thoughts before he says what's going on with him. Knowing he had covid I'm guessing he's still messed up from that.

Mia Yim's also been responding to Tweets inquiring about Lee saying it's no one's business about their medical/personal stuff. The fact that she used the word medical makes me think it's probably still lingering health issues, as well.

Imagine if that was how they described him lol. Mark Callaway who plays a zombie cowboy wizard nicknamed "Undertaker" is a former 5 time WWE champion and holds the longest winning streak in WM history. He's also proven more powerful than Jesus by resurrecting multiple times and he's also pretty nice with the hands despite having an 0-0 record in any combat sport involving fists.

John Cena apologized for previously calling Taiwan a country. Can't offend the CCP overlords.

I actually had to google this because I'm like, Taiwan is a country-so I thought.

Some people are not being too kind to Cena about this, on both sides. I guess when China has Hollywood by the balls you do what you gotta do. Be like Thug Rose.

FYI in case you haven't noticed I'm trying to connect MMA fighters to pro wrestlers lol.

Thank God. Felt like this was a hiring done because he knows a higher up. Raw is not the place to serve up someone who has never called professional wrestling. You don't send Jerry Lawler over to do commentary for the Masters if he has minimal knowledge of golf and how he should be vocalizing.

I'm just glad they didn't try to force us to accept him in that position.

But you do send him and JR to do the XFL, and I will hear NO arguments to the contrary.

Also seemingly fully done with WWE. I hated him on commentary but it's a hard job and he was brand new. I'm surprised they didn't try him as a backstage guy.

Football at least has those kind of personalities. Especially XFL hahaha. When I turn on pro wrestling the last thing we need is this emotionless tone that Virk had which is only made worse by the horrid lines he's fed.

If I'm wrong so be it but I think a difference is that Adnan didn't come across as a fan of the business. And if you're thrust into that position as the heir to Michael Cole-who isn't that good either....you better hit the ground running because not only are the fans impatient, so are the suits aka Vince.

Pat has been a fan since childhood and was already a perfect fit. The other thing is we're comparing apples to oranges. Pat is color, Adnan was "play by play" if you want to call what a lead announcer on WWE programming does "play by play". Adnan also had a shit babyface to play off of in Byron who fucking sucks, just a charisma vacuum and offers nothing but diversity at the booth plain and simple.

Former UFC and Bellator commentator Jimmy Smith is the new Raw announcer. He had been doing some sporadic work on NXT over the last month or so.

Blah. They should have went with AJ Kirsch, Tough Enough season 5 contestant. He's the best unsigned announcer in the country.

    That's pretty cool.

I can't speak for people who don't have the luxury of seeing ppv at 7pm on a Sunday as opposed to 2am Monday morning because that has to fucking suck. But there has always been something nice about watching a wrestling ppv on Sunday night and then starting the school/work week the next day. I think that's probably something we subconsciously hold certain expectations for in terms of quality because we don't want to end the weekend on a downer.

When I was a kid, Summerslam was usually right before or the following weekend after school started. It was the last cool thing you pretty much experienced until you went back-or-it was a way to let you know, "Hey, even though you're back in school here's Hogan v. Earthquake real quick!" lol.

Having ppv's on Saturday at least for wrestling is kind of strange but I dig it. I remember sometimes a WWF ppv would be on a Monday night or Thanksgiving. MMA and Boxing have had a stranglehold on Saturday ppv, AEW here and there has one. Most the NXT Takeovers are on Saturdays so this works.

Take it with a grain of salt but Meltzer is reporting that WWE is negotiating with NJPW about WWE becoming NJPW's exclusive American partner. The talks have been going on for about a month or two and there's no real idea if the probability of this happening is high, but it is being discussed.

Yeah I was just reading about that. I don't want that at all. I love the fact that New Japan has been working with AEW and Impact. Only reason WWE would even consider doing this is to keep New Japan away from working with those companies. Now if WWE wanted to work with them and not be exclusive then I might be okay with it but probably not. But we all know Vince would never do that. Again if this talks are really happening it is literally to keep AEW and Impact from doing what they have been doing with New Japan. Not because they really want to work with New Japan. WWE's style is just so different from everyone else that it wouldn't mesh well at all. That is what I like about AEW and Impact and New Japan doing work together. Things mesh better. WWE wouldn't know what to do with any of the New Japan talent. They have already proven that. How long did it take for Kushida to finally get going in NXT? And yeah KENTA's time here was not good either. Partially injuries and partially not knowing what to do with him. New Japan guys won't be able to come over and work the matches they like to work. Just no. WWE needs to just drop this.

Wellll let's pump the brakes here for a minute.

For one, KENTA is not a New Japan guy. He is NOW, but prior to NXT he was mainly a NOAH guy. You could even get away with saying All-Japan. New Japan though? Naw.

Kushida.....Maybe there's an argument but he's champ now.

Does everyone need to be pushed exactly the same as the previous promotion? No.

How about AJ Styles? He's more a NJPW guy than KENTA. How about Nakamura? One of my absolute favorites. Do I wish he had been World champion? Of course. Am I constantly comparing his run in NJPW with his run in WWE? Nope because it's 2 totally different promotions.

It's not a secret that very very few Japanese wrestlers get over like Nakamura has in America. Show me the promotion pushing a Japanese wrestler as hard as WWE has pushed Nakamura. Where's the top Japanese wrestler in AEW? ROH? Impact? Impact made Kazuchika Okada the fucking Green Hornet's bodyguard. The women have a much better track record these days especially in WWE. Asuka, Kairi Sane, Io Shirai, etc.

I'm not saying I think a relationship between these 2 companies is a good thing. Ultimately depends on the nature of the relationship. NJPW aren't going to hand over the keys like some of the smaller companies have already done unless they're in some seriously bad financial situations which I highly doubt. They're not stupid and neither is the WWE. But NJPW has done exclusive relationships with people in the past this isn't uncommon and shouldn't be frowned upon just because it's WWE. The WWE brand is synonymous with pro wrestling across the globe so it's understandable why promotions would want to work with them.

Fair point about KENTA. He was not New Japan until he went back. Point still stands they didn't know what to do with him.

Again how long did it take one of the best junior heavyweights in Kushida to even get regular tv time before finally getting a push and the title.

I don't consider Styles a New Japan guy. He was there and the champ but he was not there super long.

Nakamura is another example of it looks like they are going to do things with him but then change their mind. I would love to see him get a run with the title but again if they used him better I would be okay with him not getting a run. He has had some short bursts and despite the fact the fans dig the guy like crazy he fizzles out a lot. He was pushed hard in NXT and got the good push with the rumble win and match with AJ but then yeah he comes and goes after that. I feel for the most part he has not been used or pushed well. Maybe not completely wasted but he could have been used better overall. Then again so many other talent could be put in that boat.

The Good Brothers were another hit and miss in the WWE. Gallows had previous misses in the WWE before doing well in New Japan. Started out well enough when they came over but then again got lost in the shuffle.

In fairness to Okada's run in Impact. He was still early in his career. Yeah they should have done better and not done the dumb Green Hornet sidekick thing but he was not really the Okada that he would become. It even took a while for that to happen when he went back to New Japan. He did say he learned a lot in his time with the company though.

I also get what you are saying with top Japanese talent here in the US. But at the same time they don't want to come over here or at least not to the WWE because they won't be able to work their style. Plus they like being at home in Japan. So yeah Nakamura is pretty much it on the male side but at least some of the best women talent are doing well here. Honestly beyond Nakamura and Kushida who is working in those feds right now. Might be others but I am drawing a blank. Again they are staying in Japan. Some of them have done short stints here. I think Naito was in Impact/TNA for a brief time in a tag team when he was over in North America gaining more experience and learning his craft more. He has said he has not interest in coming to the WWE though.

I get what you are saying with the different companies and what not. Pushes will be different. Things work differently. Hence my saying a working relationship would not be as nice because the styles of the companies are different. AEW and New Japan mesh together better when New Japan talent come over.

From a money perspective sure New Japan would be better off working with WWE. Plus the whole global scale of the WWE. I think AEW is going to get there though just need more time. Not an over night thing and WWE was not huge over night. I think the better overall long term thing is to continue to work with AEW and Impact. They have only really scratched the surface with what they can do together.

I don't think AEW will get there. We all have to stop looking at wrestling like it's still the days of WCW v. WWF. WCW couldn't sustain their momentum for a variety of reasons and AEW is in a time where pro wrestling is barely a thing. When we're getting jacked up about a show barely gettin 8-900,000 views a week, that's not a good sign.

Again, we don't even know the deal with WWE and NJPW. These smaller companies like AEW, Impact, ROH--they might give these guys the freedom to put a match together so I can see why those relationships would ultimately be better because WWE are not JUST a wrasslin company like everyone else. It's been proven in the ratings that people don't give a shit how good Kurt Angle is or how great a Kenny Omega match is.

I hope it would be something of a talent trade or doing joint shows. Who knows. A lot of stuff that people assume WWE aren't about they change our minds. I never would've thought Adam Cole would get pushed so hard yet here he is....Even Nakamura.....For what he's accomplished compared to pretty much any other Japanese wrestler since probably forever in North America is glorious.

Things seem to be more dire than pleasant in NJPW due to the pandemic and then brutal injuries so there's certainly upside to getting into a partnership with WWE. It remains to be seen what the parameters would be but I imagine this would be beneficial to NJPW from a talent perspective more than it would for WWE. If it's one-offs on NJPW talent going to WWE then I think that minimizes skepticism on the end of the talent. Booking could be terrible but I imagine the appearances could be in similar fashion to utilization of WALTER from NXT UK to NXT.

I am not looking at this as a WCW vs WWF/E thing. We are beyond that and the business is not quite that anymore. If that was the case then TNA/Impact would not have lasted all of these years but it is still kicking. It has its ups and downs and had potential to be way bigger than it ever got. AEW also has that potential and I think it will get there and I don't think it will be an AEW vs WWE thing. Business has changed. I think WWE looks at AEW as comp much like it did WCW. I don't think it ever thought that about TNA/Impact. I don't think really looks at itself as in competition with WWE. Maybe in some ways but not like WCW back in the day. I think AEW wants to just go out there and do what they want to do and entertain fans and not focus on WWE. They don't ignore them. I mean look at the pot shots they take in BTE videos and what not. But I don't think they are looking to beat the WWE like WCW did. I think TNA/Impact has survived as long as it has for a lot of the same reasons. At times maybe they wanted to beat the WWE but I think especially now it is more just go out there and do what we want to do and entertain people.

I know overall the casual fans are more about the WWE. Again established global product at this point that is more than a wrestling company. I get that. Internet cares more about AEW and Omega but I think giving more time that things will slowly change. AEW keeps putting on great shows and is doing things differently and I think that it is only going to get bigger and better.

WWE has never been great at joint shows or talent exchanges when it comes to past working relationships. Well never been great for the other party involved. Of course WWE always got better end of the stick. Another reason I don't want to see a relationship with New Japan. WWE has evolved to something different than all other companies out there. Nothing wrong with that. I enjoy watching the WWE. I also enjoy some of the other stuff a but more lately. Minus a couple stories I have been way more into AEW than WWE. I never really preferred TNA/Impact over WWE. I used to like WCW and WWE equally back in the day until WCW went to shit at the end. WWE has the complete advantage over everyone at this point and has earned it. It doesn't need a relationship with New Japan beyond stopping what is going on with AEW because again they think they are comp or going to be comp down the road.

I think we are on similar pages ND. I don't really disagree with you on a lot of it and I don't think you really disagree with me. I need to come over here more and talk wrestling. I stick to the asylum/whatever it is called too much.

Jimmy's at it again. Had a blood-alcohol content of .205, which is more than 2.5 times the legal limit of .08. Charges include speeding and running a red light.

To be fair, he was taken off tv for about 6 months after his last run in with the law. I'm not sure what else was done as I'm not an employee and I'm not sure if Jimmy or anyone close to him went into detail about what happened.

My question is why are the WWE responsible for this man's sobriety? The lengths they go to in helping past and present talent, some who never even worked for the WWE, makes me think they're doing as much as they can. This is 200000% on Jonathan Fatu, not the WWE.

Some people think WWE should fire him. Why? He obviously has issues and the more support the better.

And they still took him off tv because 4 months prior in February he was arrested for fighting the cops.

I can't remember if it was Jey or Jimmy, but when they were tag champs a few years ago, one of them was arrested for a DUI and they were still on TV and kept the titles so WWE has been inconsistent about addressing this. It's a tough situation because none of this has happened inside the ring. I have no idea if either of the Usos have been to AA, but someone in WWE needs to lay down the law and get him into an appropriate program. Most companies offer some sort of option for employees who have substance abuse problems. WWE should be no different. As you said, they've stepped up for wrestlers who haven't been in the company for decades, so someone like Jimmy who's currently on the payroll should be no different.

Find out the time frame you're speaking on when they were tag-team champions. It could've been Jey that you're thinking of. The last 3 times Jimmy was busted, they were NOT tag-team champions at the time. Saying WWE are "inconsistent about addressing this" while also admitting you're not really sure what you're talking about (I mean that in a nice way)....

You keep talking about what the WWE need to do without knowing what they've already done.

Let me be clear about something for those of you like Satori who want to use any moment to slander the WWE. Unless you know what the fuck they've done, keep the bullshit to yourself. WWE putting someone in rehab, AA, etc. doesn't cure them. Ask Sunny. Ask Road Dogg, X-Pac, Scott Hall, dude the list goes on of people who the WWE have gone above and beyond to get these people help only for these people to fuck it all up.

So again, this is all on Jonathan Fatu. Stop saying WWE should do this and they should've done that w/o knowing a single thing they've done. You already fucked yourself when you said "or will they ignore it like last time?" Well, like it was pointed out, in July 2019 when Jimmy fucked up, they took his ass off tv and he didn't come back until 6 months later. During that time, who knows what he was doing. It's not your business, at all.

I hope not. The last time they tried to use an Uso getting arrested for DUI they had John Cena bust on them in a promo-only for one of them to get arrested not too long after the Cena promo.

Sounds like Terry Funk is in a real bad way. Don Muraco said that Terry has dementia and Terry’s people confirmed that he is receiving residential care for illnesses of the body and mind.

    God bless Terry Funk.

My father in law (well technically ex if we're splitting hairs) has been battling dementia for several years and it's been getting worse on top of other health issues. I saw something a month+ ago where people were talking about Funk being in bad shape but then people close to him denied the rumors. Either way---An icon. In my opinion the most underrated icon of them all. Transcended wrestling.

I think of being at my grandparents on the weekends while my mom worked 2-3 jobs watching the Terry Funk/Ric Flair feud that also had Sting and Great Muta. Renting Halloween Havoc 1989 at Video Warehouse on Merle Hay Rd (RIP they just closed a month back after almost 40 years). Another gem people forget about is Mick Foley v. Terry Funk on Raw. 5 star classic with Kevin Nash in WCW. IMHO the best part about the Beyond the Mat movie.

Obviously ECW. Everything he pretty much did until he lost the title at Hardcore Heaven and then I believe left was fire. Literally at some points. But I think my favorite stuff is what he did in Japan. The old stuff with Dory Funk Jr, FMW, and the finals of the KOTD with Cactus Jack. I could watch it forever.

Sucks that she's hurt but hopefully it's something where she can still be on the show she just won't wrestle. She didn't really have much going on to be honest. Vega couldn't have came back at a better time. It prevents the WWE (hopefully) from trying to slide Carmella in the top heel spot. This could always be a way to get Shayna on SD. WWE might see they need not only a good heel on the mic but an even better one in the ring.

It’s a fairly common expression, I’m surprised you don’t seem to have heard of it. Sorry if I caused offense. No connotations actually intended.
