Things got increasingly worse and he began coughing blood, so he went to the doctor. Was told he had fluid in his lungs and around his heart. He was told to go to the ER immediately after getting the results, as he was in heart failure. “I was nosediving and sort of at the one yard line of where you don’t want to be for your family and your future.”

I heard Reigns signed a new deal that starts in June where he only works 6 ppvs a year with no live events. So I think that's what he means, no more live events for him.
I believe Roman was talking about that town specifically with him not really working house shows.
Here's a guy who's done it all, is having the best run of his career right now which is crazy when you think about his accomplishments as a babyface. Plus he has cancer and it came back 10 years after he already dealt with it as a young man.

What's lame is WWE has the best angle going in wrestling but all people look at are the minutes someone wrestles. Seriously what's wrong with Roman going part time when he's been part time for about 4 years now? I'm missing the negative. They're finally getting it right with him.
Roman's been the only thing to hold my interest in WWE, and he's been the best thing in pro wrestling since they unlocked Tribal Chief.
Roman actually influences ratings over a sustained period. he moves lots of merch (most of it doesn't even look that good). And he's pretty much captivating the fans.
I'm not sure the last decade plus has seen this unequivocal level of success for a performer.
There's a lot more to like about WWE programming than just one guy. Roman has been prioritized as the guy since his return, a reduced schedule and less TV time may allow for others to step up and take the spotlight, whoever they may be or whether main roster, NXT or future signings.

Yeah you can't leave out Cena. You know people forget that Roman was a top merch mover when he was a babyface as well. But if we're talking the last 10+ years you can't sleep on Cena. His feuds with The Rock and CM Punk were in that 10 year period. His merch numbers are probably to this day some of the highest ever. I know he has a new Ringside figure dropping every 2 weeks it seems lol.
But if we're really talking about the last 10+ years, do we include Brock Lesnar? I think it's fair to say that love him or hate him, Brock Lesnar has been one of if not the biggest draw in wrestling since he returned.
I guess he isn't a full time performer, so maybe doesn't count? otherwise you could also include Taker and HHH to some extent.
Roman isn't full time either though and I don't think that matters at all. When John Cena was there every minute of the day he was still the top merch mover, still moved the ratings the most, etc. Nobody was getting a refund if CM Punk or Del Rio didn't show up.
I would exclude Taker and Triple H if we're talking the last 10 years. They've barely wrestled and I don't think Triple H has been much of a needle mover for a long time and Taker is there so sparingly.
In the last 10+ years, I would agree that Cena can't be discounted, and I would add that Daniel Bryan belongs on that list.
Eh, if Daniel had a longer run at the top like Cena, Brock, and Roman sure. But Bryan was barely a main eventer and I'm not sure what kind of merch he was pushing all those years. I would put Daniel in that 2nd tier with CM Punk, Wyatt Family, The Shield, a little more recent with Becky Lynch, Charlotte, but up there with Roman and Cena? Naw.
That's the discussion. But I'm not entirely sure. I think the most impactful time period from a viewship perspective (just over the last 10 years) would have beenright around 2011-2013. With the Rock, CM Punk, etc.
In some ways though....Smackdown has trailed Raw in ratings, perception, etc...for basically ever. Roman Reigns made the move, and it became the better rated A show, and really escaped the shadow of RAW for the first time ever.
I mean, it's definitely debatable. But I'm not sure that we're not getting some separation with Roman over the next year.
Nash makes a good Lesnar point. And I think that maybe you could argue that he creates the most spikes. Sustained impact, I give the Edge to Roman.

But how much does Roman benefit from being on Fox? You know how I watch Smackdown? With a $25 antenna that only gets Fox, CW, Me, and a bunch of Jesus channels. I don't have to wait for it to go on Hulu, I don't have to have cable.
I'm curious how Raw's ratings would be if they were on Fox. Most people associate Monday with wrestling and football.
With that said....I still think that even if the ratings weren't better than Raw, Roman Reigns would be the best thing going today. I don't really care about ratings these days so I look at everything else and what truly matters is story. And the story of what will Roman do next and who will finally take him down is without a doubt the best storyline in wrestling.

You're assuming it's a work. I think it's more likely that there's something else going on. The company shareholders call was also yesterday at 1:00, and she made her announcement at 4:00.
I think it is more than just possible, perhaps succession planning discussions have been continuing (they'd be irresponsible not to), and she isn't happy about it. Or quite possibly, there may be discussions about selling the company once Vince is done.
But I still think it is also quite likely that she is legit just taking well deserved time for her family. Their oldest daughter is at the age when she will be starting to learn to drive. I have to imagine that college tours aren't that far away in the discussion. Her husband's health scare may have convinced them that time is precious (although they have seen many many of their colleagues die, they should know of the possibilities). A part of me wonders if HHH is showing prelim signs of CTE. They have enough money to get the best docs out there.
