They announced Travis Banks vs. Jordan Devlin for the first Takeover this weekend. Could well steal the show.

I'll be watching this show but I'll be honest, NXT UK isn't doing a damn thing for me right now. The only match I'm truly stoked about is the women's match.

Considering it's going to get a platform (proper time) it didn't have in the tournament finals, I'm very optimistic, as well. That match really felt like they try to put a bunch of stuff/storytelling in for a main event TV match (for a "60" minute show). They could have a pretty fantastic match this weekend.

To show how little I pay attention or remember, not even sure I knew they wrestled in the finals lol. Worth a watch?

I like Rhea, I like Toni, should be decent but the only negative is regardless of what Toni Storm has done globally, they're both pretty young and you can tell when they wrestle. Like when Toni was booked to beat all those Asians in this year's MYC, who were definitely more experienced and just overall better, she struggled. But for someone her age, what she's done, I applaud what she CAN bring to the table.

    Rhea, same thing really.

But what intrigues me is here you have the MYC winner v. the NXT UK champion and it just worked out that way right? Sans Shayna since she's the NXT champ, you have the top 2 women in NXT going at it for a championship this weekend.

It was good for what it was, but I think they tried to tell a story with how Rhea was working Toni's back injury and it felt like it was way too rushed because the match probably needed another handful of minutes. Like once the advantage was there, there wasn't much there in terms of hope spots for Toni. I guess that's different, but it felt like a couple of pages were taken out of a book. Felt like a victim of time.

Anybody else catch Primate from Defiant/What Culture Pro Wrestling on the show a couple weeks ago teaming with The Boar dude as a jobber team?

That guy could be a bigger deal for them if they decided to get behind him.

Will watch TakeOver on Saturday or Sunday, but I gave up on TV. Same goes for NXT. So all weekly TV is out for me now. Just PPVs, NXT TakeOvers and old stuff for me now, which is more than enough.

Storm/Ripley should be fun, as should Banks/Devlin, though Banks I find highly irritating with all the noise he makes out there.

I was struggling to get into Gallus and seeing as they've been on top, probably a big reason for me ditching the TV show.

Any particular reason you dipped out on NXT TV?

I still haven't had a lot of motivation to watch NXT UK. The little bit I have seen has ranged from "meh" to "pretty cool", but I think I'm gonna mostly stick to watching the Takeovers and any matches that particularly pique my interest. I'll definitely be checking out the Takeover, though, because the card looks pretty boss. Though, I'm not really too big on Banks.

I might try to watch Storm/Ripley but that's the only thing I care about on this brand.

Nothing against what they're doing at all. It's a very solid, sometimes excellent programme. I'm just always struggling to keep up. I'll check out a match here and there if it's being raved about. I watched Gargano and Black in the cage the other week.

I think I'll enjoy wrestling more if I try to watch less of it.

Same here. Haven't followed the weekly shows, but watching the takeover now. Fully confident that it will be a great show.

Also love the fact that I get to watch wrestling live and at prime time.

awesome match. bate and seven are such a good tag team, and bate has to be one of the 10 best wrestlers in the world.

    Brilliant show loved it.

Ending was fantastic. Great to see they're using the Dvorak theme. WALTER/Dunne is going to be ridiculous.

Good matches, right booking all round. Devlin's such a horrible little troll and the whole Balor deal was terrific.

opener is the best match so watch from the beginning. i enjoyed the middle of the show. women's match didn't do too much for me. main event was waaaay too long. lots of good stuff but i was beyond ready for it to be over. still, a good main event and a great show.

edit: i see maybe you were referring to the weekly show itself :-X

I now really hope they do a one more match deal for Nigel vs. Gibson. Would be a good feud/takeover match.
P.S. this is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated. R.I.P. Mitch Hedberg

Interesting to see Kay Lee Ray there thought she was still with WOS, Hopefully Viper joins soon.

    The event itself was superb.

Opener was fantastic. Seeing Finn and Devlin was pretty cool. Main event was too long, but was still very, very good. Big thumbs up, overall. And I love me Toni Storm, so happy days. Shame for Rhea though. Fairly meaningless run, but she’ll always be the first champ, I guess.

K.L.R to take the title from Toni when she goes mid roster in the next year or so.

I was surprised by the title change as I thought Tegan Nox would be the one to dethrone. Guess they are saving that for nXt.

For everyone saying that they can't get into NXT UK, remember how long it took for nXt to get going properly, it didn't hit the ground running right from the start.

As a whole, I thought the show was pretty damn entertaining. I think the biggest critique I had was that the show was too long for what it was. I think the opening tag and main event, while good, were too long. This was a five-match card and it was just a shade over 2.5 hours. I think some of the steam built on those matches missed the mark because of the length.

Storm/Ripley was a nice showing, better than their tournament final match they had. I think they were able to do more with the time they were given. I was actually surprised how split the crowd was between the two of them. Pretty good chemistry between the two of them, and I'm glad they were able to deliver.

Bálor was a nice surprise. If anything, the stretching out of the matches worked in his favor. He looked to have more fire or urgency to his stuff for this show, opposed to what he does on Raw and more often than not when he's got a PPV match.

NXT (proper and UK) is getting really good at creating post-credit moments. WALTER and Dunne should be fun.

Bate (21), Dunne (25), Ripley (22), Storm (23)...a hell of a lot of upside right there. While a considerable reach, I wouldn't be surprised if any of them are the top star of their respective division on the main roster in 5-7 years.

Nox busted her leg into one million pieces during MYC. She'll be out for at least another year.

Apart from the first 2 episodes I hadn't watched NXT UK but sat down to watch this last night. WWE are so good with their video packages that it's pretty easy to get caught up on everything, but knowing most of the names in some form or another definitely helps.

I like this NXT trend of energetic tag team bouts to open shows. Works so bloody well. And when you have teams like Mustache Mountain it makes that so easy to deliver. Seven is so good at the "babyface in peril" role with Bate being the cracking hot tag. I hope we get to watch these two for a long time before Bate goes on his inevitable solo run.

    Man it's fun hating Gibson.

Devlin/Balor match was good fun. Commentary did an excellent job of selling this match on the run.

Dennis/Mastiff was brilliant. I'm usually bored shitless by hoss-offs but this did everything it needed to in not long at all.

    Ripley/Storm was ace, as expected.

Dunne/Coffey was about 10 minutes too long. It became fairly obvious towards the end that Coffey didn't have it in him to go this long. Lot of off-timed spots, culminating in two scary-as-shit botches from the top rope. Right winner in the end.

I tell ya what, presentation matter so so so much in wrestling. Prior to watching this, I'd only seen the name WALTER here and there online, wouldn't know the bloke from a bar of soap. But in the span of about 60 seconds, I learned absolutely everything I needed to know about him just from what was on the telly. Amazing way to end the show.

Loved the crowd so much. Really added to the show. Just gotta hope UK crowds don't become as obnoxious as some Full Sail crowds.

I'd love to commit to watching NXT UK regularly but I'm not in the business of making promises I probably won't keep. Will definitely go out of my way to watch the Takeovers though.

What a boring challenger for the UK Championship though. I was sitting there watching and was like wasn't this guy in a tag team the last time I saw him. I don't watch NXT UK every week. Still it was a great PPV.

A very solid show. Some of the people I had no clue who they were but that women's match was incredible.

I think Walter and Dunne could make me a fan of NXT UK. I've said this before, my main issue is visual. Almost everyone looks the same, wrestles the same. I've seen maybe 2 matches of Walter's and I was impressed with how well he can work with smaller guys. He's not a giant or anything but when everyone is around average the size of Dunne....

Am I the only person in the world who has been watching NXT UK? I've quite liked the Heritage Cup so far. Seven and Mastiff in the semi should be great fun.

Walter, he just beats the shit out of people. Part of me thinks, well there's no art in that, but man is it fun. Him and Dragunov are going to beat the living shit out of each other next week and I can't wait.

In recent weeks, Walter and Huxley had a cracker and so did Walter/Wolfe with Dunne/Dragunov.

A really fun 50-60 minute show since it came back. Pre-Covid, I watched the first few weeks and the TakeOver shows.

Meltzer is giving Walter vs Ilja Dragonov five stars. Is NXT UK on the network? I haven't checked yet.

Not to worry @mth. You’re a good dude.

Walter and Dragunov was brilliant. A war, that was, as expected, brutal as hell. Love that it had good build and was a good length match too. Must have been 20 minutes plus. Will need to watch again though, as I was quite distracted when I watched it because Mrs M came home in the middle of it and was trying to show me Insta videos.

NXT UK on the whole, I’ve really enjoyed since it’s been back. Something very appealing about an hour long show each week. And the Heritage Cup has been great fun. Semi finals next week. Mastiff and Seven should be super fun. As should Noam and A-Kid, actually.

Strangely been watching quite a lot of wrestling recently. I even watched Impact the other day and quite enjoyed it.

I was watching it then got a bit distracted when I got a notification on my phone about the Sean Connery news but from what I watched it was brutal and lovely.

I’d love if they picked up Walter vs Balor again like they were going that way before the pandemic. Maybe a Worlds Collide event or something.

Also it’s weird seeing Imperium on Walter’s titantron when they’re apart for now.

Walter/Dragunov was fantastic. I think I enjoyed Walter/Bate more but that's no slight to Dragunov. He can bruise easily and that certainly helps tell a story within a match against Walter. If we ever get Walter/Bálor, that will be money.

Two storylines ready made for NXT vs NXT UK. Jordan Devlin vs Santos Escobar for who the rightful cruiser champion is along with Walter vs Balor. Money money moneeeeyyyy!!!!

Gammy’s vs Lorcan/Burch too would be fucking dope.

I was not sold on Dragunov until this match. I like the history between the two and I liked that despite no crowd, it felt like a big fight.

    We NEEEED Walter v. Balor.

Well if you're talking about the last 6 months don't feel bad because they just started airing new episodes a few weeks back. Everything since like April-May has been "best of" shows.

No Grizzled Young Veterans since what, February? Fuck.

Walter is the modern era Kenta Kobashi. If you don't know who that it is, watch anything of his from like 1993-2003. Those 10 years were fucking phenomenal. If anything watch his ROH match against Samoa Joe or a match he had with KENTA. This match reminded me a lot of Kobashi v. KENTA.

Yes, 4 or 5 weeks to catch up on, @Chris Scott.

Enjoyed last night's episode too with Niven and KLR and the opening 6 man tag. Pretty Deadly are fantastic.

And as much as I like Eddie Dennis, The Hunt are cringey as fuck.

Dar and A-Kid was a good semi-final too. Liking this A-Kid. Mastiff and Seven in the other semi should be great next week.

I'm glad nobody told Jim Cornette about Walter's appearance at last year's Survivor Series where he was fuckin squashed like a bitch. I'm still sour about that. Walter is without a doubt one of my favorite wrestlers of the last 20-30 years. Just something OG about him that I like. I told someone he reminded me a lot of Kenta Kobashi. This match with Drago was like Kenta Kobashi v. KENTA.

I caught the Ben Carter vs. Sam Gradwell match from this week's show because I read some buzz about Carter and figured I'd never seen him. Really good little match and Carter, especially for someone so soon into his career, does look very impressive. Just looks like he gets it. I like Gradwell and his whole punk look too.

Off the back of this I watched the Walter/A-Kid title match from a few weeks back which was terrific. A-Kid seems to be lacking a bit in personality but he looked good.

How long has Walter had that title now?

If he ends jumping ship to the main NXT brand with Imperium, either he drops the title undefeated or give it to Draganov.

Really enjoyed last week's NXT UK.

Bailey Matthews (Regal's son) looked pretty impressive in his debut. The influence from his father was there for all to see. Fun match with Tyler Bate.

Nice edgy Berlin vignette for Lucky Kid/Metehan.

Pretty Deadly finally ended Gallus's long tag title reign. Pretty Deadly are a weird one. I can't really make my mind up about them. This was enjoyable enough though.

Looking forward to Meiko challenging KLR this week as well.

Interesting name for Regal's son considering one of the most well known women's wrestlers literally goes by that name. I didn't even know Regal had a song in the business that's wild.

Definitely a fan of Meiko, not a fan at all of KLR. She reminds me too much of my brother's ex gf who is serving 5 years for trafficking meth from Mexico to the US. I'd love to see Mieko get the title, I've been a fan of hers without knowing it since that tag match on Nitro years ago.

I'm torn on Pretty Deadly. I heard the name and I was like holy shit I love that graphic novel but then I saw them and yeah....They kind of remind me of the Major Brothers. Both in look and work. They feel very out of place in NXT UK, way too pretty. Like that band with the 2 twin brothers with blonde hair, kind of looked like a young Chris Jericho....Hanson.

What I need to know is what is next for Walter, truly. I think this guy should be a Paul Heyman guy on the main roster, take that NXT UK title with him and just re-christen it the WWE UK championship.

I'm hoping we get Balor/WALTER at Takeover Dublin. Although I don't know whether we can expect to see it go ahead with fans present in June yet.

What about Mania? There's a strong rumor of the NXT title being defended I just don't know how they go about getting Walter to the states.

Honestly hoping Walter gets toppled soon or he retires the belt undefeated. No offense to this brand but he’s waaaaay too big for this now.

I want to see him either on NXT hooking up with the rest of Imperium or on the main roster.

Draganov getting one more crack and doing it maybe?

No way Walter moves on because he doesn't want to live in the states

I'm all in on Pretty Deadly. Love those fine chaps.

Not seen this week's yet, but seen a spoiler. I don't try too hard, to be honest. I should try harder. That said, I often watch NXT UK on the Thursday, so don't usually have to worry.

Probably sensible during these times but shame for us though.

Prelude was an enjoyable hour of wrestling.

Nice rounds match between Bate and Dar to kick things off. I like the use of Trent Seven and Sha Samuels as seconds. Bate becomes the number one contender and his match vs. A-Kid should be a good one. A-Kid's accent is weird, sounds a bit like Hector Bellerin's. I wonder if that's just from wrestling in the UK these last few years or if he partly grew up here.

Women's tag match was enjoyable enough with McKenzie picking up a big win on her re-debut. Meiko just giving up on her cover attempt on KLR because Isla Dawn was about to get in the ring to break it up was dumb and Meiko looked naive doing it. Aoife Valkyrie's black feather taunt is actually quite a neat idea.

Gallus on the Noam Dar talkshow could be fun. I thought the iteration of this segment with Bate a few weeks back was really amusing.

Main event was another great WALTER war. The match was definitely reminiscent of 90s All Japan as Nigel noted, comparing them to Hansen/Brody/Misawa/Kobashi. Love the way Walter leans right in on his pinfall attempts after the powerbomb a la Kawada. Rampage Brown put in a good showing and looked stronger than I thought he would in defeat. Feels more and more like Balor will be the one to beat Walter at the Dublin Takeover. Would be miles better if there's fans present but I'm guessing that's doubtful at this point.

It’s mad the NXT UK title’s been going about 5 years and there’s only been 3 champs. Reigns of epicity.

I also think Balor is the most likely. Would be the first to have held both NXT and the NXT UK champs and WWE loves their stats/records lol.
