Ok, I think I may record this one tonight. Gauntlet match and the debut of SAnitY has me interested.
The gauntlet should be fun. I'll be intrigued to see how they maneuver between Bryan and Miz. Maybe Bryan has a long run and is eliminated and has to walk by a mocking Miz.
And after SmackDown, on WWE Network, it's "205 Live"
TRIPLE THREAT MATCH:
Buddy Murphy vs. Hideo Itami vs. Mustafa Ali
Still find it ridiculous Carmella retains the title. I feel like this is going to be one of those things where, like Brock, it seems like every PPV is the one where she'll lose and doesn't. Watching her Sunday, the only thing she does effectively is her character. Would be better as someone's valet than an in-ring competitor.
I thought her match with Asuka was substantially better than her match with Charlotte. More like it and I won't be as fussed about her as champ.

I could do without the screaming/screetching in her matches, but I won't deny that she "gets it" more than most of the womens' roster. In recent memory, there are very few who truly "get" the whole entertainment aspect like she does - perhaps Paige, AJ Lee, Alexa Bliss, Charlotte, and Vickie Guererro are at her level. While promising, it may be too soon to tell about Rousey, but I might also add Nia Jax as someone who understands what the WWE is looking for. Lana has been improving on her ring work but she "got it" better as a valet only - kind of where I'd put Maryse. Asuka has been too protected on the mic end, but she and Miz clicked well in the mixed match tourney.
Shame that the Usos will probably get fed to SAnitY

Carmella is a great heel. And the fact that people hate her is proof, no?
Based on the character she plays, I have zero problem with her being the title holder.
I have a friend constantly ask me when will the IIconics go back to NXT because they're so grating and annoying. All I can tell him is, that's the deal. That's their job, haha.
Not if they hate her b/c she's not entertaining them.
I don't think she is hated that way. I think she is hated because she is annoying, and not nearly as good in the ring as others who deserve it more.

X-Pac heat is one of the most misidentified things in the world. You guys are literally describing a heel in here.
X-Pac heat is different than heel heat. The Miz gets heel heat, as does Elias. Heyman is a master of getting heel heat, as does Jericho. But they are entertaining as hell. Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, Jake the Snake, and especially Heenan made you want to see them get pounded. Fans never chanted "You can't wrestle" at these legit heels.
X-Pac used to make me change the channel, and if I were in the crowd I'd want to go get a beer and take a dump. Most of the crowd boos because they are disgusted that he got a continuous push and far more TV time than his character/skills deserved.
I don't think Mella is at the X-Pac level because she is still entertaining a decent segment of the crowd, even if they don't respect her in-ring skills.
Heels don't have to entertain you. Heels are meant to be disliked. As long as you care about them one way or another, they are successful at their jobs. If you don't care about them at all, that's when they have failed.
If you find them annoying, or resent that they're not as good as other people but have the title anyway, then they are good heels. That's the point.
EVERYBODY has to entertain you.
And you can be entertained while still hating the person you're watching, and wanting to see them get their head stomped in.
The idea that you need to like every character on a wrestling show is literally contrary to the very concept of professional wrestling.
In post #19 you just said "heels don't have to entertain you." In post #21 you now agree with me that heels and should can be entertaining. So which way is it? Do you agree with me about Carmella being entertaining at some level?
If a character is so completely the opposite of entertaining, that you don't even want to see them get their heads stomped in, you just want to see someone else, they are making you want to leave the arena, or stop watching and never watch again, they are not doing their job. This is X-Pac heat.

I like how Paige has been introducing the show backstage each week. It reminds me of when Steph would do it in the early days of the first brand split. Really sets it apart from RAW.

I kind of like that they held off on SAnitY's debut. There's already so much going on after Wrestlemania with returns, debuts and drafts, and now is the time where everything settles down, and they could use a fresh debut...

They should have had one more person in this match (keep Cass until tomorrow) After Joe gets counted out, Cass comes to the ring, THEN Bludgeon Brothers come out and beat up Bryan, getting Cass DQd.
The Bryan/Bludgeon Brothers idea seems like a stretch. Unless they want to go back and be mad for Bryan turning on the family, there's not much there in terms of rhyme or reason. Adding more to it, it's not like there's a lot there in terms of available help for Bryan to team up with. Orton makes sense, but he's on the shelf and that's easily a flimsy feud because Bryan could easily get distracted with the inevitable Orton turn.

Man it would have been hilarious if Rusev low blowed him instead and then Smackdown can end with AJ going, "Damn it... not this again."

I don't believe so. He always jobbed to Cena but that was during his US Title feuds I think.
Rusev cut a pretty face-like promo for dot com last week, and his accent was pretty much falling off, ala Lana. That will be an interesting build. Shame we've already seen the match in some form or fashion in the last few months so it's not 100 percent fresh.
If they are putting Bryan in a feud with Rowan and Harper I am not really sure who his tag partner would be other than Cena coming back to help his "family" but he has got to get unsnipped first I would think.
Other options I guess would be Shane or maybe a returning Rey Mysterio but it's highly unlikely its him. I guess you could summon Tye Dillenger from the shelf and dust him over 10 times. Unless it is CM PUNK
They're putting Tye Dillenger over in dark matches. Might very well be him.
Just got back from the show. Tons of a fun. A few notes:
- Carmella was getting some really great genuine heat there. Props to her.
- The crowd was ON FIRE for the Daniel Bryan half of the main event and then died completely. People were leaving through the whole Miz/Rusev portion.
- GO WATCH ALI/MURPHY/ITAMI ON 205 LIVE HOLY SHIT
I mean it only happened because they crossed paths during their entrances.
But the reason a tag team would go after one person without any kind of title or anything still seems flimsy.
They are heels. They don't like the look Bryan gave them and he got in their sights. Seems simple to understand to be honest.
Let me consult my "face or heel" spreadsheet, published weekly by WWE....

Here's a random thought I have about the possibility of Daniel Bryan teaming with The Miz, Tye Dillinger, or whoever else to face the Bludgeon Brothers...
So Usos and New Day have already lost to them. The Good Brothers lost to them. Where the hell are The Bar?
Authors of Pain have simply vanished from the face of the Earth for some reason... I say have them go against Bludgeon bros.
AoP were having visa issues. I believe they got sorted and they worked a recent house show. I was assuming Sanity were going to be the ones to go after BB.
The Bar haven't recovered from their loss to Strowman and Nicholas. They had to switch brands because they were buried so bad, and it destroyed the Raw tag division for nothing.
I don't buy that, considering they have been appearing on "Main Event."
I think they just appeared on main event the last couple weeks. I am assuming they are now waiting for the feud with B team to finish.

I don't mind them building to that match though. Have Sanity feud with the Usos and then New Day before moving on to the BB.
The gauntlet match was really well executed. The opener with E and Bryan which was E's best single outing to date. Then Joe/Bryan with the clever countout finish which also keeps Joe strong. Miz taking advantage of the Bludgeon Brothers' interference while saving off on a proper match between him and Bryan. Rusev and Miz have a really good outing and Rusev now gets his first singkes World title match to cap it all off. Can't wait for Rusev/Styles at Extreme Rules and how split the crowd is going to me.
Also the 205 Live triple threat between Murphy, Itami and Ali was so, so, good. Some nice spots and transitions pluscthat Spanish Fly off the announce table was insane. Good sneaky finish by Itami to win it too.
Will we ever see Drake Maverick wrestle?
Possibly. He has sorta of a feud with TJP going on at the moment.
I was thinking he was gonna feud with Buddy Murphy at one point when Buddy didn't make weight.
Rusev has wins over Bryan, Joe, and Miz in recent weeks. Hopefully he continues to get a nice push moving forward. he won't be a full fledged face until English gets ditched.
My original thought is that the interaction Tuesday set up the eventual end to the match where English, in some form or fashion, costs Rusev the match. Styles wins, Rusev looks good, English looks bad. Styles moves down the trial, and Rusev and English square off.
I think the English thing is great, but I think it's time to being Lana back as Rusev's right hand. Now that Rusev's over as hell, the original duo would be immensely welcomed.
Rusev/Lana as big time faces would be one of the most over acts on the roster. It would be Bryan, Styles, and Rusev/Lana.
I'm speculating Big Cass was originally going to be the person who attacked Daniel Bryan during the Gauntlet match, but he was released so they had to substitute the Bludgeon Brothers...
That's a pretty good insight. I could see it being a last minute change.
I don't see how they could not have accomplished the same thing with Joe going mental on him after the count out loss to carry on the feud. The only connection Bryan has with the Bludgeons was their past Wyatt Family history which the announcers didn't even mention. Plus who's going to partner Bryan? Maybe Shane but still...
