Great finale, with a just conclusion really. That Ravens vs. Chargers next week is a great game considering the job the Ravens did on them last week. The Vikings shitting the bed wasn't a surprise, they've been pretty bad all year. With Diggs, Thielen and Rudolph as targets, that O line and Cousins have a lot to answer for.

    Come on big Derrick Henry!

That not to say his accuracy can't see some improvement, perhaps a minor bump in percentage merely in the game 'slowing down' and his reads/progressions becoming easier, but accuracy by and large is a pretty settled issue by the time a qb enters the league.
I know he’s not gonna learn accuracy. The kid is gonna be what he is as a thrower. As you said, he might have a bit of a jump once he gets the game to slow down, but it won’t be huge. He’s really gonna do his damage with his legs, IF he learns to slide/get down.

    Kudos to the Colts.

The Titans had no shot to do anything in the playoffs. The Colts have as good a shot as anyone to make it to the Super Bowl.

    They deserve it. We didn't.

We are the worst 9-7 team in football.

And I've been behind Mariota for the whole ride. And I'll still take him over Winston. But the bottom line is, he's hurt too fucking much.

Time to figure something else out at QB. Even if it takes another year.

He is hurt too much, and when he does play he just isn't anything special.

    A middle tier quarterback.

Mike Mayock to be new Raiders GM.

Baker is going to be a top 5-10 QB next season. The guy gets it and still has the ability to get more talent around him.

Give me Texans over the Colts, Seahawks over Cowboys, Chargers over Ravens, and Bears over Eagles.

I've got all the wildcard teams winning on the road, bar the Eagles. The Colts have been one of the better teams in football from November, with the protection Luck is getting they'll put points on the Texans. Will probably be low scoring. The Chargers beat the Ravens, having experienced them last week. They know what they're up against. Seahawks vs. Cowboys is a coin flip but Watson is having a stellar campaign. The Bears will be too much for that Eagles team, as good a story as it is.

so who u guys voting for MVP (if you had a vote)?

man it would be tough for Mahomes not to get it this year with 50 TDs to 12 INTs and over 1,000 more yards than Brees, but my vote goes to Brees. He didn't have to play in week 17 because his team already clinched so that skews the stats somewhat, and he was just so damn efficient (74% completion, led league in passer rating). Couple that with the fact that he needs it as a lifetime achievement award of sorts, and I think it's Brees's year.

Unless they split the vote and end up as co-MVPs. whats the criteria for that to happen anyway?

    Mahomes is the MVP.

Followed by Brees and then Luck

I love Brees and wouldn't be mad if he won, but Mahomes was insane this year

It's definitely close, but I think with Brees having Kamara + Ingram, and a defense that started finding its identity in the second half of the season, Mahomes was more valuable to his team's success. I wouldn't be upset if Brees won, but my vote would go to Mahomes.

Brees had control of it a month or so ago but then that offense started drifting away. Mahomes, who lost it to me, took it right back. It's close, but I'd go with Mahomes.

Mahomes. 50 touchdowns, 5000 yards, led his team to #1 seed in the AFC. Brees was amazing and efficient, particularly through November, but when the success and influence on a team are pretty neck and neck, you have to lean towards the numbers.

Aaron Donald is a worthy third I'd say.

Would love nothing more than to give Brees his much, much deserved due here ... but damn Mahomes had one for the ages. And it wasn't just that his numbers were astronomical, it's that he put them up in the manner he did. Deadly aggressive and from all kinds of angles and predicaments. He's just such a considerable threat on every single possession.

This is actually so close though I'd be tempted to vote Donald just to abstain from the two and show someone else deserving some love.

I really think Luck should get the MVP. They were a horrible team without him last year and managed to win 10 games this year. KC was a playoff team without Mahomes and still a high powered offense. I understand it's not to this level but I still think Luck is the true MVP.

I think this playoff run could define Philip Rivers' career. I mean, some people already think he's a hall of famer which I disagree with. Sure his stats are nice but who's aren't in this day and age? He's never been a truly elite QB of his era and he hasn't done much in terms of winning so to me he is just in the hall of very good, but if he makes a run to the Super Bowl this year then that changes things. If he actually wins a SB this year then that instantly puts him in the HOF for me. A lot at stake for his legacy, more so than any other player (Andy Reid similarly would put himself in another stratosphere with a SB win).

I'd agree with that about Rivers. The lack of playoff games is staggering for basically a 13 year pro. He's not missed a game since the start of the 2006 season, yet despite all the numbers and stats, he's won 4 playoff games in all those years. With no Super Bowl appearances. At the minute, the gaudy statistics and his iron man reputation define him, rather than being a winner. You could say every contemporary of Brady's has underachieved in comparison, but at least Brees, Rodgers, Big Ben, Eli and Russell have rings. Cam was MVP and won the NFC championship game. If they're one and done after a hugely successful season with yet more great numbers for Rivers, they're just that, numbers. I think for his legacy to be approaching the Hall of Fame, the championship game should be the minimum.

I feel similarly about Brees, but to a lesser extent. He's an all timer if the Saints win it this year. This is his greatest chance considering age and the weapons he has being on rookie deals still. As soon as Thomas and Kamara start getting paid, that's a tough budget to rule over. Some decisions are going to have to be made. To get a second ring would put the exclamation point on an excellent career. The other QB's in the Playoff's have years to build a case (Mahomes, Goff, Jackson, Dak, Trubisky and Watson are all in their first 3 years in the league), have already won a Super Bowl (Brady, Wilson, Foles) or have overachieved after an injury and look likely to compete for years to come considering cap space and the development of his squad in Luck. This is the year for Rivers and Brees to win something.

Brees already did win it all.

Against the Colts around 10 years ago.

Never mind I see in your first paragraph about Rivers you do acknowledge that. You just mean you want him to win a second. Failed on my reading comp there skimming the post on my phone.

Hah you even say in the second paragraph a second ring. Damn that was shameful of me.

Brees is an all-timer, right now. He could take a shit in his helmet midfield rather than play this postseason and he'd still be one.

If Marty Schottenheimer wasn't fired after that winning season San Diego probably would have had at least one Super Bowl.

Yea, a second ring for Brees would be big but I'm not sure how much it would move the needle on his legacy. It would definitely cement him as top 5 all time but he's probably already there and I'm not sure it would propel him ahead of Peyton Manning. Certainly it would add to his already tremendous legacy but he doesn't need another ring like how Rivers needs to appear in a super bowl to be a hall of fame candidate (in my opinion).

I'd agree with that. Brees right now would probably be behind Brady, Peyton, Marino, Montana and Elway legacy-wise. Another win would nudge him alongside the latter 3. Rivers right now I think you put behind his contemporaries (Ben, Russell, Brees, Rodgers, Eli), let alone as an all timer. Particularly with guys a couple of years after him having more years left with good resumes (Ryan and Newton MVP's, Super Bowl appearances, Luck with a developing squad and potential in this off season alone). He really needs to go deep here, Mahomes is going to be a career rival for as long as Rivers is around and the Raiders and Broncos will be better next year. This is the Chargers shot. They could easily go 8-8 next year if the Raiders in particular draft well.

Looking forward to the games over the weekend. The first 3 are as close as you can get in sports to call, and the last is the defending champions against possibly the best team in football since the start of November. Plenty of stories to like. The comebacks of Andrew Luck and Deshaun Watson in the Colts vs. Texans. The resurgence of the Cowboys after the Cooper trade against the Seahawks who, apart from the 49ers anomaly, have been fantastic the last couple of months. Philip Rivers finally getting a Playoff game again, against a QB that hasn't made 10 starts yet. Then the Nick Foles story against the Bears, who weren't considered to have any hope in that division. I can't see many (if any) of the winners going on the road and winning next weekend, but you never know.

I'm leaning Colts, Cowboys, Chargers and Bears. The Colts protect Luck well and he's throwing like a fucking machine. The Cowboys have been playing well defensively, Dak's confident, Zeke's rested. The Chargers having a read on the running game having played the Ravens recently should help them. And finally, the Bears are the better side. No result would surprise me though here, crazy close.

I've been waiting for something to change my mind but nothing has.

I'm taking the Colts over the Texans.

My heart obviously says Texans, but my brain says the Colts are simply the more complete team right now.

Just hoping we get some primetime magic from our studs who got us here ... JJ, DW4, DHop, JDC.

Feels like I'm putting too much faith in Houston's O-Line for this game but I think the fact Indy had to play late Sunday night helps cancel that out.

The Colts could've played last night and it wouldn't cancel out how porous our oline is.

Colts are dominating. This is ugly. They definitely look like they can make a Super Bowl run. They've won what, 10 out of their last 11 games if they finish this game off?

AFC is so wide open. Literally everyone except the Texans could win it.

Cowboys are playing this game right so far. But they shouldn't lean on Dak so much. No reason for Dallas to lose this game.

And to think, with as little as the Ravens have accomplished today, they are still in this thing.

I never thought they had a chance but the Chargers have been settling for field goals all day.

And right after I say that the Chargers bust through the end zone.

Hats off to the Chargers though. I wasn't expecting their defense to utterly shut Baltimore down today.

I don't think I've ever seen a worse passing offense than the Ravens today. Shame, I've enjoyed Lamar Jackson this season but man has it been ugly.

Well Jackson and the Ravens made it interesting late but the bottom line is you simply cannot wait until the 4th quarter to show up on offense in the playoffs.

I'll take Chicago in the late game. But blowing it would be soooo Da Bears.

I look at it more as crediting the Chargers. I bet there were a lot of teams that were left in the dust after facing the Ravens that wish they could have gotten a second chance to face that offense. The Chargers, an already skilled defense, got another crack at them and came up with a good plan of attack. I don't buy much into what they gave up to allow the Ravens back into the game. I'll focus more on what they were able to do. Both road teams in the AFC are going to be dangerous and tough outs for their opponents.

I think one of the road teams can do it, but I don't think both will be able to do it.

I guess playing to win week 17 wasn't the right call.

Offensive playcalling was also very conservative for Nagy's standards

For being a pretty mediocre division, the NFC East having two teams remaining in the final eight is quite a thing.

Ridiculous ending. Brutal way to lose a play off game, but Chicago offensively aren't there yet. A good playbook but I'd say they were probably the worst team on that side of the ball in the Play Offs. Maybe, retrospectively, Baltimore are worse. Other than that they were reliant on their defence keeping the Eagles below 20 points, achieved that, and it still wasn't enough.

I like the way those NFC games match up. The Saints destroyed the Eagles during their slump but they've got experience of the dome now and who knows how not playing competitive football for 3 weeks will affect the Saints. Rams stuttered a bit late while the Cowboys have come on strong. I do favour the home sides but I favoured the Bears and look what happened.

Chiefs vs. Chargers AFC championship game hopefully.

yes, we needed a healthy QB to do things, imagine that.

getting a vet RB back that's actually healthy helped out, too. giving people time to actually get 100%, imagine that.

What I should have said was Foles won the games that got Philly to where they are. Not Wentz.

Foles has some otherworldly ability in the playoffs.

Fletcher Cox doesn't get the credit he deserves really because Aaron Donald exists and their secondary is miles better than it was even 4-5 weeks ago.

I just want the Rams to lose, I know way too many smug Rams fans.

If Dak can play like he did against Seattle, they will be a dangerous team

Everyone stressing about Philly having to choose between two talented QBs.

Yeah it's just a fucking awful position to be in.

Anyway I'm glad the Eagles won. Makes the whole thing more interesting now.

I guess if I had to pick right now I'd go Saints/Colts.

But it could be nearly anyone from the NFC.

well, i mean, you let wentz get healthy to begin with, which i suspect he never actually fully was this season. allow him to have an off-season and training camp that is catered to him. the idea of a QB controversy is overblown. foles might have some magic, but you dont bench or trade a player like wentz for that, cause you're just as likely to get games like foles put up during the first two weeks of the season than you are these miracle runs. even while injured and apparently playing like shit wentz had a pretty decent year, our defense just let us down on numerous occasions.

It's really a good situation to be in to have two QBs who have the ability to be a good to great starter.

I'll go Colts, Cowboys, Chargers, Saints for next weekend. Should be four amazing games.

I could see the Saints blowing out the Eagles again. I could see the Rams blowing out the Cowboys. I could see the Chargers blowing out the Patriots.

I don't see the Colts or Chiefs getting blown out. That's my game of the week.

The missed FG at the end was tipped. Not sure if thats still Parkey’s fault.

Imagine Foles wins another super bowl and becomes the greatest QB in eagles history and they start Wentz next year. Im not saying it would be the wrong decision it would just be so wild

He definitely over pivoted and shot that ball more to the left when he kicked.

I don’t see a blowout in any of the games. The only real blowout this week was the colts Texans and it wasn’t that out of hand. I still worry about the secondary against the saints. As well as they’ve played lately, they still aren’t starters. Maybe Maddox will be eventually. Foles will probably have to have a game like he had in the nfc championship and super bowl.

If Foles actually wins the super bowl again, it becomes a decision even though I think Wentz is the better quarterback when healthy.
