Baker looks like he has "it". Doesn't seem nervous or indecisive at all.

The only thing I care about with the SB halftime is the Patriots making any necessary adjustments to win their sixth title

As a franchise they have already lost 5 times. They are 5-5 all time in the Super Bowl. 2 of the losses were pre Tom Brady.

Apparently Cook has been out all week for his hamstring. He injured it in OT of the Packers game. With the Vikings playing the Bills, then playing again Thursday, they should just sit him out.

Guys in a bit of a dilemma here. I am flying to Grand Cayman for a work paid vacation but flight home is on a sunday during the 1pm games. Trust me I tried to get home before then. I never miss an eagles game. Am I able to stream the games with the wifi on an airplane? any suggestions on what works, if anything? I could even live listening to it on a radio app of some sort.

I think that's more of an issue with the plane's wifi rather than the site. Even if you had a paid platform to watch the game, I wouldn't necessarily trust the plane's wifi.

This. Whether your flight wifi will be strong enough for any sort of live video streaming is something I'm not sure of. I think it would be fine I mean I don't usually pay for wifi on flights but I assume if you do then the signal is decent

Ive been on planes before where they have the games broadcast on the TVs for each seat. Pray you get one of those, and that it's showing the Eagles game, and that the Eagles don't lose with no WRs or RBs (Colts don't have much in the way of those positions either though, lol).

I know "on pace for" is ridiculous at this point in the season.... but it really feels like Mahomes is going to throw for 45+ TDs this year, and have a shot at the record. 13 and counting.

    Is it the Chiefs year?

like ya said, it's only three games, but that team feels legit. mahomes is has hit 9 different receivers for TD's so far. the offense isn't reliant on any one position player. you have a good set of backs plus two wide outs that you can use to rush, as well. the defense has let opponents stay in games, though, which hasnt mattered cause of the offensive output, but you gotta assume that takes a dip as we go later into the season. they have some depth on offense that makes me think that they could push through some injuries to key players, outside of mahomes. i dont think chad henne will be nearly as effective.

Another roughing the passer on Clay. Not as bad as last week but still a bit ticky tacky.

Falcons/Saints is a great game. Jimmy G stayed inbounds on a run and took a huge hit unnecessarily, and is out of the game.

Packers looked like straight dookie today. So many dumb penalties committed by GB's defense, and Kentrell Brice took out Mo Wilkerson with what looked like a season-ending knee injury. Smh.

49ers fear it’s a torn ACL and MCL

The 49ers did kind of figure out a way to slow them down in the second half. I think they still have an amazing year but I'll be curious to see what happens when/if Mahomes starts getting pressured and hit a bit more.

They've got so many weapons though.

I'm in on Pats -7 but I already don't like it. Flowers is out so the Pats pass rush will be suspect. Chung and Rowe are also out. I expect a shootout.

I'm not even going to let myself get excited about the Pats losing.

I almost wish they had won. Now they're going to be at home against Miami trying to prove something.

It's not going to be pretty.

    Let's see now

So the Browns beat the Jets, the Jets killed the Lions, and the Lions dominated the Patriots

So therefore the Browns > Patriots. lol probably not but they do have a better record. Ouch!!!!

Where the hell is this Lions team 2 weeks ago? I hope it was just a crappy start and the lions are now just starting to hit their stride. Even though the NFC North feels more open this week than it ever has been I am still not getting my hopes up too much.

Flowers finally benched by Giants and although Wheeler allowed sacks to JJ he was good. Barkley was quality really going to be that good.

Ground game was non-existent but Tannehill was very good in the passing game and that trick play Albert Wilson to Jakeem Grant was sweet.

I think this may be fool's gold for the Lions for the immediate future. The Patriots aren't very good/are extremely predictable on both sides of the ball right now.

Wilson and Prescott have combined for 25 passing yards so far. Grim

But Tannehill still never going to be good enough for QB at Miami.

It's a big game this Sunday. I mean, let's say the Dolphins win. They move to 4-0, 3 ahead of the 1-3 Pats. They would also have a big leg up on the tiebreaker (needing to beat the Pats later in the year to secure it, but even if not they would be starting 2-0 in the division while the Pats would be starting 0-1). I agree with Pabs that the Pats will come out strong and win but they really aren't playing well right now. It's no sure thing that they turn it around especially if Trey Flowers doesn't come back from his concussion by then.

I'm excited to see how we respond.

With Gordon teams won’t be able to as easily double Gronk. Then when Edelman comes back you guys will be fine on O. Saw a bunch of dropped catches.

Best defense against a Gordon-led Patriots attack is the hope of a failed drug test plus an elbow injury to Gronk.

Seeing Dolphins DE Hayes tore his ACL trying to avoid landing on the QB. Awesome. This rule just keeps getting better.

It's such horse shit. If they were only calling egregiously dirty hits as opposed to inconsistently calling the penalty on form tackles, players wouldn't have to second-guess themselves in real time at full speed.

I'm probably overreacting, but I feel like this, on top of the anthem protest issue, is going to deter people from watching.

Are that many people even protesting still?

I think for those of us who don't care about that political aspect though these inconsistent calls need to be fixed. Player safety is important. I think the penalties about leading with the helmet are good ones. But with the way things are going with this roughing the passer penalty I dunno how I feel about it.

    Also catches are still stupid.

I need Desean Jackson to get involved in the second half for the cash league. Fucking goose egg so far and they're putting Godwin in over him on most plays. Shit.

Ugly game. Important win for the Steelers if they hold on. And Jameis Winston is quietly loving this as he might be getting his job back.

The body weight rule on roughing the passer is very bad. It's interesting how they have COMPLETELY not enforced the "leading with the helmet" rule. Total bluff on that one. They pretended like they cared but don't want to do anything to mess with the quality of the product. But when it comes to QBs, well, that's a different story. A star QB gets injured and ratings drop so that's the rule they need to enforce. Fucking clown shoes.

To be clear I'm glad they aren't overdoing the helmet rule but the hypocrisy is blaring, as usual with the NFL.

Conservatively guessing there’s been 45 flags in this game

Edit: oh man if the Steelers blow this they will be in shambles. Go Bucs

If they had pulled a vikings and got whooped, you could make that case. They were in the game until the end. He is also the only person in NFL history to throw 400+ yards three games in a row. The record for 400 yard games in a season is 4.

I expect the bottom to fall off at some point, but he is a lot of fun to watch for now.

man he had some bad interceptions last night though

but yea, winston isn't very good anyway so they should and will stick with Fitz for now. classic "if you have 2 QBs you don't have 1" versus "it's a good problem to have" debate. I personally land on it being a good problem to have except for the fact that winston might go crazy if he's still the backup after their bye week. gonna be a big slice of humble pie.

Fitzpatrick had one pick that really wasn't his fault but the other ones were pretty atrocious in terms of what he was trying to do. Then, on the last drive they had, pretty much all three of his throws could have been picks. It felt like TB was going to be a disaster of a team going into the season. The start, Fitzpatrick's play masked that in a big way. Now it appears that the regression is coming and I think they're going to fall back to where they were likely going to be.

If I were Tampa I would call San Fran and offer them Jamis for a song. Start Fitzpatrick rest of the way and if you only win 5 games then you are in position to go QB in the draft.

SF wasnt going to win a SB with their roster. Why give away draft picks for a rental QB and simultaneously hurt your draft position of he wins you any games? Ibfeel like worst case scenario is going 8-8 and missing the playoffs.

SF would roll into draft week with mediocre positioning and fewer picks. Whereas if they stand pat, they likely have better draft position and don't lose any picks.

If I'm SF, I try to showcase Beathard to get a late round pick for him after the season (or feel confident with him as Jimmy G's backup lomgterm), develop the young guys with game experience, and secure a top 3 draft pick because my roster sans Garropolo/McKinnon/Sherman is now a bottom tier one.

That's why I said for a song. I think for Tampa if they need to figure out which QB to go with for the year and move the other. You do not want one sitting with the other there looking over the shoulder.

For San Fran I think that they could get Jamis for next to nothing and see what he has to offer. Remember they could pick up the 5th year option on him and deal him at year's end. In my head they could maybe get him for a 6th but turn around and deal him to someone who wants him for a 4th if he performs... Its also really tough to sell to a fan base that you are folding up shop after week 3 even if you do not think they will win much.

They didn't seem like they were good enough to make the playoffs with Jimmy G this year. It might be best to ride out the season and get a good draft pick to build around him. The Niners lost their starting running back and don't really have many weapons at receiver or tight end. Their defense is average as well.

i doubt Tampa would trade Winston for a 6th. A 6th round pick is basically zero value. Why trade him at all of that's the return? I wouldn't trade Winston for anything less than a 1st round pick. Tampa looks like they can compete this year and if Fitzpatrick gets hurt or turns into a pumpkin then Winston can step back in and still has another year of control. he is still tampa's qb of the future in my opinion.

Winston is a young QB drafted #1 overall who had a passer rating in the 90s last year. I am not high on him but to think his value is so low that he’s only worth a 6th round pick is crazy.

I don’t think they’ll deal him because he is still (for now) their future at QB, but if they did I can’t see them accepting an offer of less than a 2nd round pick. You don’t deal franchise QBs for less.

I also disagree that they shouldn’t keep Jameis and Fitz this year. They are in a good position. Looking over their shoulder isn’t as bad as you make it seem.

I'm not really sure they can compete. I guess it ultimately hinges on if you believe, even with some regression, Fitzpatrick can keep them in the thick of a wild card race. He's no better than the third-best QB within his division.

I think they will be in a lot of games. They won't get blown out is what I am saying so if they go 7-9 or 8-8 with a few close losses, that's competing. Fitzpatrick or Winston are clearly the 4th best qb in that division. No debate there.

Yeah, I'm not really taking the comment about the pick into account. The lay of the land in that division makes it seem like they're going to be on the outside for at least 1-2 more seasons. If that's the case, I'd be looking to amass assets to try to jump right in when the transition comes.

This might sound kinda crazy, but I think a more likely scenario (but one I still dont think will happen) is TB trades Fitzpatrick.

Winston is younger and has your longterm upside. Fitzpatrick is no team's future as a journeyman QB who turns 36 in Nov. Trade him while his value is the highest.

And from the perspective of other teams in the league, no one wants to trade for a longterm solution to QB with Winston's circumstances, and no teams are really searching for a longterm solution at QB right now.

ARI could use a stopgap who is better than Bradford while Rosen continues to sit and learn: Fitzmagic makes more sense here.

SF has their QB of the future and if they wanted to try to make a run (which again, I dont think they will), they would realistically go for a veteran stopgap QB for just this year. Fitzmagic makes more sense than Winston here too.

I cant see any other teams who would realistically trade for either QB barring a forthcoming injury to their starter.

The inverse is letting him walk at year's end. I highly doubt Tampa is going to give him $20 mil which is what the 5th year extension would cost.

It's a very tricky situation for Tampa. If Jameis is your "franchise" QB, I'm not really sure you're amounting to much of anything in terms of being a winning franchise on a consistent basis. He's already behind the 8-ball based on his character and you're still waiting to see if he can develop into a better QB.

I think Tampa was already re-considering Winston as their franchise QB before the suspension. If I were them, i'd let him walk at the end of the year.

I wouldn't. Yes his cap hit is 20.9 million next year but that is currently the 19th highest cap hit for a QB next year. Now granted some of those guys ahead of him won't end up playing on that cap hit but let's even say it's about the 15th most expensive deal. That's still not that bad.

How he plays the rest of this season will be vital. Even if they keep Fitz as a starter I sort of doubt Fitz will stay healthy and keep the job all year. I bet Jameis will get some starts.

Last season Jameis played 13 games and was on a pace for (if you stretch it out to 16 games) 4312 yards, 23 TDs, 14 INTs, 64% completion. Is that stellar? No, but it's not bad, and it's not someone you give up on whom you drafted with the #1 overall pick 3 years ago.

How much are you willing to pay for that non-stellar QB?

If he plays well this year, I would be looking to extend him beyond his current 1-year deal worth $20.9 million in 2019.

Fun fact: In their 42-year history, the Buccaneers have never signed a quarterback the team drafted to a second contract.

I'm assuming well is better than stellar, based off your wording? I just don't think he's that good, so I'd be looking to find an avenue to find the next QB you're looking to make as your franchise QB.

Keeping Jameis is the exact treadmill move people were talking about with San Fran. You never will be a big time team with Jameis.

As we used to say when I coached football "he is just good enough to get you beat." The kind of guy you keep running out there because he is kind good and has moments but he makes mistakes and costs you games more often than not.

I really don't see the same situation when it comes to Tampa and San Francisco. You definitely had reason to believe SF was trending upward this season and beyond before they were crippled with injuries. Not exactly sure where TB was headed but I can't imagine it was far.

That is my point. If you think you are trending up in SF you can take Jameis for a year, try to win games and see where you end and cut him loose next year. You are not looking for a top pick to spend on a QB. Tampa on the other hand can commit to Fitzmagic for the year. See where they fall. If he fails, they are in line to pick another QB. If he doesnt they can extend him for 2 years and still consider if they want to go QB somewhere in the draft.

The point is, it won't take just a 6th round pick as you layed out for the number 1 overall pick 3 years ago.

I don't see any logic at all in your idea with SF and Jameis in terms of trying to win. What's one thing Jameis has as an advantage when it comes to coming back to TB? It's that he knows the system and personnel. He doesn't have the benefit of either of those if he's traded to SF. You're absolutely right: they don't need a top pick to spend on a QB. They can find something elite or beneficial at another position of need.

If Jameis were to sign a big contract of 20m or greater in FA, he would net TB a 3rd or 4th rd comp pick.

If he didnt garner that much interest upon hitting the open market, then TB could sign him for much cheaper.

So trading him for anything more than a 3rd rd pick now makes 0 sense to me. And any other team giving up a 3rd rd pick or more for him also makes 0 sense to me. I can't imagine him going anywhere.

pretty great TNF game this week: Vikings at Rams. Vikings coming off laying an egg vs the Bills but they will be helped by the Rams losing Talib to injury and possibly Peters as well (he is reportedly a game time decision). If the Rams are without both their starting CBs that'll be significant. Looks like the Rams are 6.5 point favorites but I could see the Vikes bouncing back and winning.

It will be an uphill climb for the Vikings this week. Their left tackle is questionable. Everson Griffen's mental health is also a huge concern going forward. Hopefully he can get the help he needs. Way more important than football.

If the Vikings lose, I imagine the fraud finger is going to start to be pointed in their direction. They really screwed themselves by looking silly against the Bills.

Im gonna bet on the Vikings +6.5 for sure. I imagine they come out swinging. And having one of the best WR tandems in the league with both of of the Rams starting CBs injured should help keep their offense up with LAR's.
