yes but also the steelers can't even trade him until after he signs his franchise tag. right now he is not technically on the steelers. they have his rights but he is not under contract with them, hence they cannot trade him until he signs the tag because you can't trade someone who isn't under contract.

so the idea of trading him is very tricky. they need Bell to play ball and sign his tender, they need another team to play ball, and they (the Steelers) need to want it too (I think they would rather have Bell for the postseason run and get a 3rd round comp pick than get something marginally better back in a trade since they have serious super bowl aspirations). the teams you mentioned, though, are some of the teams that have the cap space to take him on. I believe there are 7 teams with 14.5 million or more in cap space. just for fun let's go down the list:

Browns - i doubt they would take him since they signed Hyde, have Duke Johnson, and drafted Chubb in the 2nd round.
Colts - I could see them wanting him (and they have 49 million in cap space)
49ers - I could see them wanting him (and they have 40 million in cap space)
Texans - They have Lamar Miller but I could still see it (27 mil in space, maybe they include Miller in the trade)
Titans - doubt it, not with Dion Lewis and Derrick Henry
Jets - doubt it, they have Crowell and Powell and also aren't a contender
Raiders - doubt it, they have Lynch and also only have 15 mil in cap space so this would use most of it. They seem to also be cash strapped in general.

So yea, I think the possibilities would be Colts, Niners and Texans in the remote possibility he gets moved. Man imagine him on the Texans? Watson, Hopkins, Fuller and Bell, whew.

This would be kind of silly on the part of the Steelers, but they could easily just rescind the tag offer and say, "Adios."

now that would be the silliest possible thing they could do, IMO. they would get nothing for him, not even the 3rd round comp pick they will get if he walks in free agency after the season.

not that this could realistically happen due to cap space but imagine they did that and he signs with the Ravens or Patriots or Bengals or Browns - and then they have to face him maybe twice this year, or maybe in the playoffs. no chance they risk that. also they are clearly pissed and spiteful at him, why would they do him that gigantic favor?

trading him to the Niners makes the most sense IMO. get him out of the conference so there's no chance he could run wild on them in the playoffs unless it's the super bowl.

but again this is dependent on Bell even wanting to play for another team. he isn't sitting out of pure spite for the steelers, he's sitting to preserve his body for free agency - a business decision. that won't change on another team.

so he will probably just awkwardly come back to pittsburgh later this season, they'll all play nice for a potential postseason run, and then he'll be gone to the highest bidder.

Are we talking about on a competitive team or the Jets?

I could see a good team giving him close to 12 per. Or the Jets offer 20 and blow everyone away.

Philadelphia played defense, very well, and ran the ball when it mattered. Atlanta did NOT execute on the latter, and that’s why they lost. Matt Ryan looked rough last night.

Steve Sarkisian seems to be a bit of a mess as an OC.

Matt Ryan has a noodle arm.

I fell asleep in the 3rd quarter but the Falcons definitely suck in the red zone. 5 trips, 9 points. 1.8 points per red zone appearance. they should have won this game.

Had ATL kicked the FG on their first drive instead of turning the ball over on downs - and not missed their lone XP attempt - a FG on that last goalline possession would have won the game.

Yes but if they kick FG on the 1st possession they do not end up with great field position on the 2nd and maybe they do not end up with a FG there. You can't go down that road, butterfly effect and all.

Looking at the remaining slate for week 1, it's not the best slate but the games I'm looking forward to are:

Texans at Pats - And not just because it's my team. I think everyone wants to see Watson back and with his full slate of weapons (Hopkins/Miller/Fuller) they could be as electric as they were last year before his injury. That should be a lot for the Pats defense to handle. Watt is also back. I expect this to be a close one, and possibly an upset. The Pats without Edelman should provide a heavy dose of Gronk and RB touches. I like the RB depth chart they have right now with Burkhead/White/Michel/Hill. I expect Burkhead to have a day, and maybe White as well.

49ers at Vikings - Cousins debuts as a Viking. That offense could be a beast with him and Cook/Diggs/Thielen/Rudolph. Garoppolo faces his biggest challenge yet, and probably the first L of his career. The Vikes may run away with this but I'm interested to see how both QBs perform.

Keanu Neal is out for the year. Do they go after Reid or any of the unsigned safeties? I hope they get Reid. He's still a great player.

Bummer about Neal. I doubt they go after Reid, only because it's evident teams are avoiding him. Though I agree with you.

Every single game is interesting to me this weekend. I could find reasons to be stoked on any of em. The ones I am most looking forward to though:

CHI@GB: How will Graham look in GB? Will GB's D finallu be good after investing top 2 picks in CB and signing Wilkerson in the offseason? Will Mack get to Rodgers, or will GB's OL be able to keep him at bay as they did against OAK the last time they played? How will CHI's new look offense play under Nagy? How will Allen Robinson look with a new team coming off of a torn ACL?

PIT@CLE: Will Bell report? If not, will Conner step up with a big game? Will CLE be prepared for PIT's offense with Todd Haley now under employment? Will all the high draft picks and veteran acquisitions on the Browns D start to mold into a quality unit? Will Josh Gordon Jarvis Landry make big plays?

KC@LAC: Eric Berry is doubtful, Joey Bosa is out. On top of that, KC's D looked aloof during preseason and lost several defensive players including Marcus Peters. On top of the loss of Bosa, LAC will also be without studs Jason Verrett and Jaylen Watkins who both suffered season-ending injuries during the preseason. Basically... I expect a big time shootout. My money would be on Rivers, but I think both teams will score a lot of points.

LAR@OAK: I have a feeling the Rams might put a beating on the Raiders, but I'm really excited to see the return of Gruden, how Jordy meshes with Carr, and if the loss of Khalil Mack will be visibly felt. For the Rams, I'm curious to see if Brandin Cooks is going to be the #1 option they're paying him to be, or if Goff's chemistry with Woods/Kupp will reign supreme. More than any of that, though, I want to see Donald & Suh, and Peters & Talib.

PIT@CLE is getting more and more interesting...

"Unless something significantly changes (which I doubt), we are looking at a HIGH impact weather event Sunday and Sunday night. The latest data I'm seeing [Friday] morning is calling for widespread 5+ inches of rain and locally 7+ inches. The heavy rain will start late Sunday night. So that means all day Sunday and Sunday night we are looking at continuous heavy rain. Winds will be gusting up to 40 MPH at times. I have not seen a worse weather forecast for a Browns game in the almost 16 years I have been here and that includes snow events. I have no idea how they will be able to play football or how people will be able to sit in that stadium and watch a game."

This Saints game is the worst defensive performance I have ever seen.

Looks like last seasons defence was a blip.

Vrabel going for it on 4th down instead of kicking the easy field goal. Up 3-0. 1st quarter.

Not sure Vrabel knows what the fuck he's doing.

I was just thinking. Tannehill is being very effective. Sure it was mainly short passes. But it was nice and clean play. Then he goes and throws that.

    And another weather delay. Fantastic.

    Thoughts from Pats/Texans

-Watson was rusty as hell which is understandable after his injury. I expect he'll look more like himself in time but you always wonder about these mobile QBs who blow out their knees, whether they'll ever get back to full effectiveness.
-Brady was surgical as ever. He and Gronk both in MVP form.
-Dorsett looks like he's going to step into a significant receiving role this year.
-Losing Jeremy Hill to injury is a shame because it looked he like was about to have a good year. Fingers crossed it's not season ending but it looked bad. Now they need Sony Michel to step up (especially because I don't trust Burkhead to stay healthy all year).

It looked like Watson spent too much time seeing if he should run rather than finding an open receiver. I counted 4-5 times I saw a receiver fairly open and the play flopped in some way

As Rodgers gets carted into the back, may I play Nearer My God to Thee as the Packers' season sinks like the Titanic.

Everyone is injured, Vrabel doesn't have any idea what he's doing (I counted at least 4 major blunders on his part) and now we're staring down an 0-4 start if we dont fix this shit and fast.

But how do you fix shit when the coach doesn't know what's going on?

What an amazing game. The Chicago defense is incredibly fun to watch and that hasn't been said in a long time. Green Bay was way overrated this year. They didn't address their issues from past seasons and are probably going to struggle, even if Rodgers' injury isn't that serious.

Every dropback he takes I fear a little bit for his life. Did you see the shot of Danica Patrick up in the box? She looked like she was about to have an anxiety attack.

Rodgers is a man's man. Love it but scared for him at the same time. First game of the season sit down and be good for next week. Don't go out and get killed. What an exciting game and even more importantly for me THE FUCKING BEARS LOOK GREAT!

It just has that making of for Rodgers to become that legend. It's unreal. Now it's time for Chicago to show they are contenders.

Can you elaborate on these issues?

Biggest issues last year, imo, were defensive coordinator/CB/TE/OLB depth. Enter Pettine/Tramon Williams/Jaire Alexander/Josh Jackson/Jimmy Graham/Marcedes Lewis.

The only issue I think they failed to adequately address was OLB (Mack sure would have been nice...).

I didn't see any of the Giants/Jags game, but the NFC East could look wildly volatile on a week to week basis.

Packers/Vikings will be an epic match-up. Glad to get the game in Lambeau out of the way in September, instead of in December like usual.

The early game tonight stinks but I have money on the Lions and I have the Lions D/ST in both my fantasy leagues, so Darnold will probably have the best rookie opener ever and lead the Jets to an easy cover.

The late game isn't so bad, I think everyone in the world is loading up their tweets about how the Raiders could really use Khalil Mack right about now and how stupid Gruden is. I give the Raiders a chance though. The Rams have a dream team after adding Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters, Ndamukong Suh and Brandin Cooks. Let's see if they live up to the hype.

I would love if the Raiders beat the Rams tonight

With an apparent knee injury and the way that defense was getting to him, it didn't make sense to put him back in.

Thank god the 360,00 owners of the packers had an emergency meeting to sort this out.

Honestly it was epic and played out like a hollywood movie. The perfect thing the nfl needed to help boost ratings

Yes Rodgers stood in the pocket and got clobbered, apparently spraining his mcl, so that the tv networks could get ratings. lol

That looked like a brutal injury, to be honest.

Owners hotline indicated it was likely a grade 2 MCL sprain at half time. I responded by pressing "2" which was the option to let him test it out. It won in a narrow victory over "1" which was sit him out.

Rodgers missing games due to injury would surely boost those ratings. Americans would rush home to tune in to... Deshone Kizer... leading the Packers in primetime...

Something that's always been a question for me about Green Bay: It may be irrelevant because they're pretty productive on the outside and have been with Rodgers, but do the Packers just suck at assessing tight ends or do they just not care about getting production from that position?

They havent drafted a good one since Jermichael Finley. All their drafted ones have been backup material at best. Graham should put up some decent #s this year I think.

Giants actually played well especially defence, although O-Line has improved that’s was most of the problem. But also Jags defence was excellent as usual.

But I mean you clearly got proved incorrect, of course it made some sense given they actually won the game

Hindsight, sure right. At the time, it seemed like an incredibly bad idea when the Packers were sucking ass and the Bears were running roughshod over them. Who can predict the Little Giants-style comeback?
