When they announced the Oscar nominations, I was a bit perplexed that Tom Hanks was nominated for Best SUPPORTING Actor, I was like I thought the movie was about Mr. Rogers.

I mean going in I was like holy shit this might be the first movie geared toward adults that doesn't have a bunch of negative bullshit. And while this movie does have that, it works for what they're trying to convey. It was beautiful.

I will say this, I was watching it thinking that a lot of people are probably like the main character Lloyd thinking Fred Rogers was full of shit and probably some creepy dude behind the scenes. It's sad that we don't have more people like Mister Rogers leading the charge and instead we have the fucking Kardashians and youtubers....................

    Outbreak

I watched this on Netflix due to current events. I don't believe I had ever seen it before. It was solid. I prefer a movie like Contagion which, to my recollection, was a bit more grounded in reality. Outbreak on the other hand looped in this outlandish plot involving the US government building a biological weapon and then wanting to blow up an entire town rather than giving them the vaccine because of BIG BAD MILITARY CONSPIRACIES (embodied by Donald Sutherland's character). It also seemed far fetched that they had to capture this one single monkey who had the cure in him, or something. Due to these reasons, I don't think this movie has aged all that well. Otherwise, the cast is pretty good.

    6.8/10

We watched 'The Lighthouse' last night. What a trip. Very very good.

    Planning to watch 'Parasite' tonight.

    Shockingly very good.

I watched the newest Jumanji on Saturday. It was ok. I never really cared for the 90's version with Robin Williams. Part 2 was nice, I love the 4 main actors so that was solid. Part 3...I don't know, Rock doing a horrid Danny Devito accent really took me out of the movie. I mean it wasn't even funny, he sounded like he was talking like a baby from New York lol.

'Parasite' was good. Interesting story, well done. Don't think it was better than 'The Lighthouse', though.

The Invisible Man was pretty good. Missed it at the theater but got it over the weekend. I think the experience would have been more entertaining in the theater but oh well. Solid acting by Moss. Pretty good swerve in the final stretch. The go-home sequence was clearly a homage (or rip-off) of Gone Girl.

It's always odd those things. Brad Pitt won for best supporting actor for Once Upon a Time but I wouldnt be surprised to learn he had more time on screen than Leo.

Caught Birds Of Prey And The Blah...Blah...Blah Harley Quinn Whatever tonight. Fun stuff.

For a movie that all the feministy Twitter types were losing it over, it seems oddly sexist that the plot revolves around 5 women fighting a fabulously gay man and his boyfriend over a fancy diamond.

Oh, and I never expected the entirety of the conflict of this flick to hinge on everyone --

    .

That being said, I dug this one. Loved that Pulp Fiction approach to non-linear storytelling. Loved the action - The John Wick choreography guys were behind this and you could tell. Margot Robbie is still hot as fire, but she actually has a character here. Harley in Suicide Squad seemed more like a really dedicated Pornhub Community parody of Harley. Here, she actually has those little things called "motivations" and "more character than a Hot Topic t-shirt rack".

Its just fun shit. Never take it seriously, brace your ears for a main character who sounds like Fran Drescher as The Nanny, and strap in for some confetti and glitter, dumb fuck "girl power" fun.

Oh... and Victor Zzaz and Black Mask are in as the villains. Mask is as queer as a 13-hour clock, Zzaz is obviously his not-so-secret secret lover and they're just too afraid to admit it.

    I'll give it 9 Anti-Suicide Squad, pro-feminism rants out of 10.

    Also watched Bloodshot.

Vin Diesel is a great action movie dude, but he has all the emotional range of someone carved out of wood. I don't think he knows how to smile. At least in Bloodshot, his face muscles get the same workout as an armless man on bicep day.

The whole of Bloodshot feels like one of those sort of mid-2000's action/sci-fi flicks. Double feature this with something like Ultraviolet or the live-action Aeon Flux.

The plot is silly -- something about forcing Vin Diesel's genetically enhanced soldier to kill employees of a company one-by-one, by putting him through the same elaborate simulation and then siccing him on the "bad" guys - who are really just the main villain's former business partners and now rivals.

The action is fun. But its so bloodless. Fucking PG-13. Make this R-rated and have bits and pieces of Vin's diesel get chipped and chopped away in bloody chunks and then gradually grow back, and you might have something visually stimulating. Instead, Bloodshot looks like he's surrounded by whirling sand that reconstitutes itself on his body. Lame.

Honestly, the Coronavirus killed this movie. But it was going to die a slow and painful death in theaters, anyway.

Its just garbage, b-movie junk food. Call it a Pirate Bay special.

    No "Valiant Universe" for you.

I'll give it 5 "We tried to make another shared movie universe, and faileds" out of 10.

The actors say "more than likely" but the director says essentially no. It's funny 'cuz the thought never even occurred to me when i saw it and I'm the kind of guy that wants every character to be gay. If anyone seemed like it to me, it was The Huntress.

We watched Christopher Robin on Friday night. It was good, but was definitely missing something. And Tigger looked like shit.

McGregor was brilliant though, as always.

    3/5.

Yesterday, watched the original Alice In Wonderland. Super trip down memory lane, that was. Mad as hell, but a super fun watch.

    4/5.

The lad wants to watch The Jungle Book next...
