Across the Spiderverse - the animation is gorgeous and Jason Schwartzman and Oscar Isaac are great as The Spot and Spider-Man 2099 respectively. I really enjoyed the prologue and was surprised by the depth of the characterisation, especially around the family drama for both Miles and Gwen. Saying all that, I think I preferred the relative simplicity of the first film. This is a long film with some scenes that drag and it takes a while to get to the big stuff that has been front and centre in the trailers.
Just saw Across the Spiderverse. Fucking awesome. Visually STUNNING. The animation is absolutely gorgeous. So much style and creativity. That alone is worth it but the characters and dynamics are also so well developed. Jam-packed with Easter eggs/references, as well, but it fits given the multiverse stuff going on. Good comedy but not where it overtakes it like some of the MCU stuff. The serious moments hit strong. Hell, even a few simple lines got me a little choked at points. I will say
it's very much the middle of the story and ends kind of abruptly with everything built up to a crescendo only "To be continued..." but holy fuckballs, I'm eager for the next one.
