So that's 7 in one and 8 in the other. Relatively even. Then Pabs just picks out of the hat and we get the order. You have to pick within your conference, but it would at least make the draw fair. If we wanted to trade kdestiny for Torn we could also do that.

Sure. It doesn't really matter which team everyone gets since they'll all be ransomed. My thinking was along the lines of what Mitch had in mind. It will all just be for a little fun. In all likelihood we won't have many conflicts on who gets what team. But it could lead to people ducking divisions someone else is in or purposefully choosing divisions that someone else is in.

I've done this before for fantasy leagues and it's always been pretty well received. No one would listen except our league crew but would still be pretty fun for me at least. You dont need to particpate you cranky old girl.

The only thing I'd say about that is there's a chance that 4 teams end up in the same division, causing complete unbalance.
I suppose it could happen the other way too, though I don't think anyone would purposely do it given how much more difficult it would be to make the playoffs.

unfortunately for the new blood, this league has been going for three versions of madden now, with basically the same core of 8 people or so each year, with a few new names popping up each year. up until now we all just picked teams and went with default rosters, but this year it's going to be a change of approach, for a number of different reasons, not least of which is to try something new. we've had issues in the past of user teams becoming a bit ridiculous by the third season thanks to lop-sided trading with AI teams and stat progression. we're attempting to put a bit more structure into place, and the fantasy draft helps with leveling the playing field amongst users and the AI while also just being a fun twist on the league set-up. i was excited for this game and was hoping to snag the eagles again as my team thanks to this past off-season, cause i likely won't play much reg teams matches with them otherwise, but this fantasy auto draft of the entire league intrigues me much more
We should be able to re-create one rookie from last season for our teams...

i'll restate my intention of taking control of the soon to be NFC east champion eagles, for sake of thread management.
beyond it not mattering, i don't think the commish has the power to set the draft order for a fantasy draft. might be wrong, of course. didn't do a ton of looking around on the draft screen.
i figure once we figure out what division needs the extra body we'll just have you pick one of the three remaining teams. auto'd rosters means it doesn't really matter(outside of possible weather ramifications for the stadium you're in), but might as well give you the choice.

this would obviously be the set-up to do, but 25 rounds with all members would be impossible to coordinate and without all members present it would be wildly unfair, which defeats the purpose. if beefy wanted to stream the first 25 rounds of the auto draft for fun, that'd work, but i for one want to have the excitement/utter disappointment of loading up and checking out my roster for the first time, though the fun of seeing big names come off the board would make for a fun stream chat.

Nope.
When we do the regular draft, if we get even 8 of us there for the first 4 rounds it's a good showing.
We just have too many different time zones.
We've never managed to get everyone together for our annual draft and now we're looking at having more people making it even less likely. We've posters in five countries and three continents to try to sync up for maybe three hours to run 20-odd rounds.
If even one person misses out then they'd potentially be massively disadvantaged.
The only way we could do it is say that anyone who couldn't make it could pick their team once the rosters are set.
If you want to throw out a couple of dates and see if it happens to miraculously align then go for it. I'd much prefer to pick my team and the strategy of that would be hugely enjoyable, IMO.
We might be able to run it RFF-style over the course of a day. Maybe. We could play around with it and see if that could work.
EDIT - I think there might be a way but it would be really messy.

I was thinking of RFF style drafting, but the issue then is the AI teams.
If someone can think of a good solution to that then we could always create custom rosters and use those, but that'd be a huge pain in the ass.
The AI teams are easy as a Commissioner just advances through those and posts here to say who was taken. The tricky things would be drafting the players for the human teams. That would work if it's possible to control multiple teams in CFM. I'm not sure if it is or not.
What I am sure about is that you can't pause the draft long-term so you'd need someone to have their PS4 on running the whole thing throughout so we're talking one day max so you'd still need everyone to be available on the same day to get it to work. It takes us four or five days to run a seven or eight round RFF draft. I think if we did go that route we would need to cap it at five players. Get your franchise guys and let the AI draft the rest. 20-25 rounds that way just wouldn't be feasible.
I'll play around with it once I've got the game if no one else tries before then. We've plenty of time to fully explore all options. It might be that people would prefer the 'fun'of just having completely random teams.
I'm starting to think fully random would be the best choice.
Or we can just go back to plain ol choose a team and play with their regular roster. But I was looking forward to something a little different.
We've a couple of weeks before we have to make any final decisions. I'm happy with whatever people want to do.

i think there are two other people trying to get into my division (which i called rams before anyone else). so if that is to go down, please put me in a division with just another dude. i would prefer 2 in each.
Manual drafting could also lead to overstacked teams with "cheat" players I reckon.

Watching back Morri's stream from the other day I'm all for the random drafts. Teams all looked fairly balanced when he went through, every team had some quite large flaws which was good to see.
An RFF style pre draft for choosing say 5 players I wouldn't be opposed to if people did want to have some input into it all.
The way this draft works would encourage trading between users as the teams will probably end up reasonably unbalanced. I still would be in preference of just an outright ban on CPU trading and trade with each other. A trade limit still would just result in shitty trades.
TWO THINGS I thought about watching the stream:
Salary cap implications. This could fuck people when moving players around and I don't know what the deal is with the CPU picking based on this. Like if they draft you an ageing guy on a massive contract does that fuck your other picks. Might add an extra reason for us to manually select a few players at least.
Pre-existing injuries should be turned off (we always do this anyway to be fair) as the CPU will draft these injured guys (like Ryan Tannehill)

Anyways. The gist was that I would prefer it be all random. The excitement of seeing your team for the first time is real, and knowing who your 5 best players are takes something away from that in my mind. Plus it would be a nightmare for Beefy or whoever is the commish I think.
In regards to trades I still think a limited number is the way to go. Yes, lopsided trades are possible, but you almost have to TRY to make it happen. We can pseudo police ourselves, and it doesn't cut off half the player pool. It's also not free reign to do whatever you want, and you should not be able to include future draft picks. In fact I wouldn't be opposed to not including draft picks during in season trades at all. I think that would level things a bit, and let's remember the trade deadline is week 6.
