Feels pretty similar to last year in that regard. I know the one below didn't go through but it made me laugh how much it added to the bar which along with your Tunsil trade says to me there is no way we can go with trading the way it is even with a limit on picks. Draft picks are a definite no go to trade. My preference is no CPU trading like yourself but I proposed 1 for 1 trading as a solution to still allow some form of CPU dealing which was then described as too heavy handed..? Obviously I don't see a problem in two good players going for a slightly better one but the system that allows that also allows one good and one utter shithead to go for the same player so fuck that.Originally Posted by Beefy

Running has been interesting for me as in this franchise test I got Lamar Miller who as Pablo knows will fall over when blown on. Backup Mike Gillislee has been way more effective despite the rating disparity.

I traded a useless C (74 rated, 26 year old, low 70s for blocking stats) for Chidobe Awuzie... leaning towards my view being all CPU trades as OUT as even 1 to 1 can result in steals of young early round talent like we had before

i know its definitely possible, but the only way i know it to be so is if that dummy account is a person who has the game but isnt in the league and we just ask this favor of them. like if cewsh gets the game but doesnt have time for the league, but is willing to help us out with this, for example. not sure if any of us members can join the league as a second team in week four to conduct a trade, or if creating a second EA account somehow would let us do that. it's worth exploring.
new ea account would need a separate profile with ps+

Fuck it. No AI trading and fantasy drafted teams is fine with me. The other league I'm going to start will be anything goes as far as trading is concerned, and you'll be able to do whatever you want. You just won't know who any of your players are, which should make for player development fun. Where did you guys find your slider settings for the league?
Finally got round to playing the game (Got it on release day, personal stuff got in the way until last night). and I am not sure what to make of it. I dont love it yet which worries me but to be fair I have only played one game.
Played it on Simulation mode and the first half went pretty nicely, 14-0 then 21-7, 21-14 etc. Rushing was hard but fair (4.3 average with Peterson, Miller for the Texans had similar) then all of a sudden their back up QB went into superman mode two passes to a guy who was wide open for no apparent reason went for 70+ yard TDs. Ok maybe it is simulating the Saints defence a little too much.... but those TDs worried me as there was no reason they should happen the way they did.
Other than that I found it much harder to take an opponents player down when tackling, they have loads of little moves to get them out of trouble which I guess is a good thing. Getting a sack seems to be a pain in the arse though as the QBs move like Ballet dancers under pressure.
I've had that issue with QBs in every game so far (I've only played the four pre-season matches tbf). The combination of it combined with the AI's ability to juke out of the way of tackles or truck straight over three defenders makes it much more difficult to stop them but the stupidly accurate throws from backup QBs into a tiny window in double coverage is really annoying in the moment.
I was 1-3 in pre-season.
Weirdly it was their back up QB Tom Savage who was superman. Watson was pretty crap unless he was scrambling where he turned into Jim Brown.
Not sure what to think about the icing the kicker thing either. I lost 28-27 due to missing a last second PAT. Thats fine but the camera angle was weird. Then again it usually takes me a week or two to get used to cameras again.

That's something new to this years edition of the game. I went with simulation, not sure if anyone's tried out the different modes to get a different feeling, but I imagine that's the one we'd stick with.
I went with simulation but the game went into what felt like circus mode (or whatever the option on the left is) about half way through my game.
Yeah it went it like a 45 degree angle or something. It was really weird.
The league will be Simulation unless there's some strange demand to play one of the others. Injuries, random turnovers, etc, are part of the game.

I've only done the solo challenges for MUT and I thought they defaulted to arcade as well. Well that and the lower rated opposition in the early challenges.
Practice and do the tutorials. I'm sure there will be videos on youtube as well to teach you what zones do what, what plays work, etc.
Best plays to focus on to start with are crossing or drag routes. Against the AI, the TE will tend to get open a fair bit as well.
For the run game, the biggest tip is to not sprint straight away. Wait for the gaps to actually open then hit the sprint button

Discovered the secret to not losing the tutorial... don't use SF.
Proceeded to defeat tutorials.
I did the kick off challenge or whatever it was called, a solo draft champs and the Long Shot stuff. Think I am 4 or 5 games into the MUT long shot season, sitting at 75. I find MUT so much more enjoyable and well structured compared to FUT. Such a good game mode.
So did I, I found it unnecessarily tough.
MUT and i believe draft champs is default arcade style. anything head-to-head that is ranked is default competitive.
It sure would be nice if EA sent me the fucking game.

I vote no. If we do keep it and want to restrict it then my suggestion would be that you can't trade either for or with players AND picks. i.e. you can trade for or with either players OR pick - you can't package up a mid-round pick and two crap players.

QB Sneak has been nerfed completely. I say we bring it back and that anything else (going for it on 4th, going for two points for the win, etc) is fair game and thou shalt not moan and bitch about it after the game if someone does something that your own Madden moral code wouldn't allow you to do.
My main thought on AI trading is that it's restricted to only when an injury may force a change. Maybe even then you still get it approved to try for someone in about the same overall area maybe?
I don't see how asking for permission here is feasible because the point is that you don't know what will be acceptable by the AI until its too late.
Morrison's idea from the other week is feasible but it's a huge amount of fucking around. I think we should just decide to do what pretty much every other CFM out there has done which is ban AI trading. Like using randomised teams we can always switch back next year.
Maybe just posting about an injury where you would like to try to trade for a replacement perhaps?
I don't know for sure. I don't think it should be completely off limits but there definitely needs to be some restrictions there.

if we don't have a readily available trade dummy account, i say banning is fine with me. i'd prefer it not be that extreme of a decision, but at this point i'm not sure there is any other better way.
qb sneak coming back is fine since qb's now just ric flair flop onto their faces during it. will be curious to see our thoughts if it magically becomes a cure-all again on short yardage.
also i will die on that fourth down hill every. single. time. and there's nothing you people can do to stop me!
also, maybe after the first season, if the randomized teams aren't a big hit for most the league, we could always start a reg teams franchise for our second season. we managed four seasons last year, so if people hate the fantasy teams, having three seasons or so of reg teams afterward will still be worthwhile.

Happy with randomised teams. It's worked very nicely in my single player franchise I've been playing with.
I am for banning CPU trades. If you have depth issues then trade with the users, there are bloody loads of them. Injury fits this.
Give QB a season then review prior to the playoffs if it needs to be rebanned? I'm happy with giving it a trial.
I'll take the Chargers as I'd like to play MMH less than 3 times this time around. No offence mate but it would be good to mix it up!
Alex just asked me a good question about teams budgets and how those will be impacted by the draft. I think it should all shake out fine but we should probably wipe all draft penalties when we first load the game up as its possible that some teams currently have pre-existing cap hits that they shouldn't have to honour.
The only legacy issue I can really see if about draft picks. Whoever takes Cleveland is laughing.

AI Trading - I still think it might be necessary, but it may be best just to ban it completely since we don't have a good work around how easy it is to exploit and I don't half trust someone to not exploit it.
QB Sneak - Bring it back. FB Run was basically just as unstoppable anyways.

I just streamed a test draft in case anyone is interested. It's on my twitch feed. The teams looked balanced - everyone has a couple of superstars and only the Seahawks didn't end up with a servicable QB (they took Cody Kessler instead). Interestingly the AI appeared to draft to Scheme - teams running a 3-4 defense picked linebackers at home in that scheme.
Even though I enabled only trades with human teams the AI let me complete a do a trade anyway
No one has a cap penalty which is good. Everyone is sitting with $50m+ in salary cap but all the stars are on four year contracts so there'll be some mediocre players getting paid in the first couple of off-seasons.

No. I would be OK with one straight up trade a season maybe. If anyone gets injured then you had best hit free agency or your practice squad. I think trading with players on the trade block should be pretty much fair game for everyone. (as long as we dont add players in)

I really hate unrealistic stuff like going for it on 4th down when no normal team would do so. QB sneak I'm not against but have yet to see it in action. If its anything like my run defence in 18 they will go for about 20 yards anyway.
I would suggest that going for it on 4th down should only be available after the two minute warnings. No major issues with going for 2. Its a risk as it should be and kicking can be ropey.
Plenty of teams go for it on fourth down. Fourth and long in your own half is obviously a stupid thing to do 99% of the time but even then if you're a few scores down teams might get desperate.
I don't think we have a big issue with fourth downs. People don't want to lose.

I agree generally, a lot depends on where on the field etc, like I will always go for it on fourth when I am in long field goal range as I dont mind the difference in field position from missing/punting.
I don't understand why you'd dislike someone going for it on 4th down. It's a huge chance of a turnover.
Its not though, I think that is the issue. Its much easier to get in the game than it is in real life. Especially if you are setting up to defend a field goal etc.

And in terms of going for it on 4th. I agree with MMH that it is nowhere near as risky in the game as it is in real life. Hell they'd probably be just as successful in real life being honest, however no coach in the real world would be able to keep their job after a few of those go awry, while in our league obviously that doesn't matter.
I think maybe a gentlemen's agreement to not go for it on 4th in your own half in the first three quarters except for when you're down by 14+

MMH going into hurry up when he thinks he's got a running play that matches up well against the defence that has been called (only to audible into a slant, only to audible into a QB option, only to audible back into the original running play) is more annoying and unrealistic than going for it on 4th.
I don't buy the argument that it is artificially difficult to stop - or that going for two is difficult to stop for that matter.
I look back at my play-off win against Mikey - I converted a second quarter 4th and 17 when three scores down and he failed to convert a 4th and two and a 4th and goal in the fourth quarter. As Alex said, it's a great opportunity for a turnover.
