You think Lesnar's done after Wrestlemania next year? I feel like he'll be willing to keep working that schedule for big money for awhile longer. And I think they'll want to keep him around. He's their biggest star. Even if they didn't think he was going to draw people to WWE I think they'd probably keep him just so that he couldn't go anywhere else.
Lesnar's only going to Japan if anything and there's no real competition between those 2 companies and probably won't be anytime soon. With that said...Keep him around and start having him work with guys he hasn't worked with on t.v. I wouldn't mind Kevin Owens v. Lesnar on t.v., saw a clip of their house show match and wow, Owens fucked him up with those cannonballs into the corner lol.
Not sure. His contract is up at 34 right? I mean he could resign but I would imagine at a reduced rate. Would WWE resign him to a huge money deal again? Not like he can go back to UFC this time
The thing is Lesnar is the kind of guy who would put New Japan on the map in America. He's one of the only true needle movers. Basically Lesnar, Cena, Punk, Batista, Rock, and Bryan are big enough that it would really be a splash if they left. Cena's never going anywhere, Rock is WWE for life and doesn't wrestle anyway. Punk is still under contract with UFC (for the moment). Bryan is under contract for another year and half or so. Batista's busy with movies.
The risk of Lesnar being free out there is some crazy rich dude might decide to start a wrestling company and if he signed Lesnar they'd have instant legitimacy. I think a big part of them bringing JR back is that New Japan is trying to move into America and they're worried about World of Sport over in the UK. However big of a check they need to write JR to not work for someone else is probably worth it, they can afford to do it.
I don't think he can do UFC anymore, but I'm sure Bellator would make him a nice offer.
Bellator could definitely be a player. They were told by Viacom to keep signing talent. I'll be honest, I don't exactly how the USADA banning works. Can he still fight or is it a suspension across the board in the US? I don't really know of anyone who failed a USADA test, was suspended, and then fought elsewhere in the States but I'm sure it has happened.
And if some crazy rich dude hasn't started up another promotion with some of the free agents we've had over the years I don't see it happening anytime before Lesnar calls it a day. He'll be 40, I don't know if you want to build a promotion around Lesnar wrestling 3 times a year. You'd need a strong supporting cast and big names aren't just going to go to some new promotion because a rich guy runs it.
He was suspended for a year, so the suspension will be up by the end of this year. Does Bellator even drug test?

I don't know if BELLATOR drug tests. But the athletic commissions do and that's why guys like Kimbo and Ken Shamrock got popped in their last fights against Dada and Royce respectively. I'd imagine with Bellator not using USADA it's not as strict which is why you're getting Chael Sonnen coming in saying the reason he's not in the UFC right now is because he wouldn't pass a USADA test.

I really think we get Cena/Orton next mania. Orton isn't that far behind on title reigns so I would love a situation with whoever wins the match/title at mania breaks Flair's record. If Orton has a back and forth fued with Bray he could totally end up tied with Flair before mania next year. Reigns/Lesnar seems likely to me (and everyone). Joe/HHH seems to fit the pattern of HHH mania matches. KO/Sami will happen at mania at some point I think, could be next year.

Jinder with the Wyatts and Braun in the Shield match look very out of place, plus Edge and Christian probably never happening. Besides that I love the rest of the card.

I'll say this, I never pictured Roman Reigns v. The Undertaker, Lesnar v. Goldberg, Styles v. Shane, and the return of the Hardyz in a ladder match.
I've had a bad feeling about Cena/Orton happening at next mania for a while. It's not really based in anything though. Just this unfounded fear.

When was the last time John Cena had a really appealing match for Mania? The first Rock match? You could make an argument for Bray and Rusev but I think FRESH and APPEALING are 2 totally different things as the appeal wasn't really there considering we knew what the result was going to be.
I thought this past Mania's mixed tag was fresh and appealing but then, I am a hipster doofus...

I will say this....What ruined the entire angle for me was the fact I knew what was coming at the end. I loved the Miz/Maryse making fun of Cena and Nikki. That shit was way better than the burial promo Cena tried to do at the end. The fact I knew the marriage proposal was coming just ruined it from the jump. Actually what ruined it for me was the fact we weren't going to get John Cena v. The Undertaker and again, when was the last big match this guy was in at Mania? It's been awhile. At least in my humble opinion and it is a very humble one lol.
If you took out the corny shit i.e. Maryse/Bella being in the match and the bogus marriage proposal for the reality show and just did Miz v. John Cena, MAYYYYYBE it would have been better but again....John Cena is positioned as the end all be all, the real GUY, the real MAN of the WWE. 40 award shows, guest spots galore, and everything else only maybe .23% of the roster the WWE lets them do. And here he is with the worst showing of affection since Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Pressley "made out" on MTV....

Cena/Rusev had a great build I thought. I was very stoked for that one.
Does the appeal of Cena/Reigns rise any if the build hinges on questioning if Cena can break their championship record at the expense of Reigns? On top of that, does it add any more intrigue if Reigns leans further into the character he is at the moment?
I think for a completely casual I only follow what the WWE does and only accept the WWE product as it is given without question...then yeah Cena v. Roman in general has a lot of intrigue. For me personally, I'm probably like that fan who was 35 back in 1990 who thought Ultimate Warrior fucking sucked and Hogan was a good spokesman for the WWF's brand but I'd rather watch Ric Flair v. Ricky Steamboat for 60 minutes haha.
Cena's a great dude, I like him and I've grown to accept his position and his booking especially now when he's barely around so it's not so overbearing. But I also find myself not wanting him to put over Roman because the shit is so lame and predictable. And sure some angles, results, etc. are predictable in a good way but not this. Not when it's a guy who isn't connecting like a top tier guy should be.
Interesting question. It doesn't add any intrigue to me, but I wouldn't hate it because that gives two other guys a chance to shine in matches NOT against Roman or Cena. Kind of what ND said.
And, frankly, I don't care to see either of those guys as champ or chasing the belt.

I think Reigns vs Cena is a million times more interesting than Reigns vs Brock.
I wish I could say I am surprised they still value in Reigns, but I am not. It just gives me a good excuse to leave my friend's house early for SummerSlam early if Reigns is in the Main Event.
I shrug my shoulders at both matches, but less so at Reigns vs Cena. Reigns vs Brock holds no interest for me. Reigns vs Cena holds slightly more than no interest.
Been saying the same thing for weeks about the assumed main event of Mania next year, if it is indeed Roman vs Brock. Gets me home and to bed a half hour earlier. I'm down with that. Same thing if it happens for SummerSlam.
The only reason Reigns v. Cena has more intrigue-for me-is because to my knowledge, they've never touched since The Shield broke up except the Battleground turd 4-way with Kane, Orton, Roman, and Cena. I don't even remember that match at all but that's really the only interest I have in the match. Brock v. Reigns....I think what ruins it for me is Reigns haha. I don't care what people think about Brock Lesnar, if he's a draw or not, if he has more than 2 moves, I am a fan of his. But again, not trying to see Lesnar lose to a guy who isn't connecting at the level he should based on his booking. He should be so fucking over by now with the way he's been booked for 2-3 years that it's mind blowing the WWE have stayed the path knowing full well he's a dud so far.
Lesnar/Reigns only has value to me in the ring. I don't think it's going to be able to have a good enough build, even with Heyman in the mix. I mean, it obviously could, but I think they're going to have a tougher go of it.
Cena/Reigns has value in the ring and in the build. Cena can clearly go on the mic. He's been poked and prodded in the cliché ways with the guys that have gone up against him recently, but I think it's mainly because those guys aren't viably going to beat Cena or they're not regarded to be in the same class as Cena. Reigns is someone who is being portrayed on Cena's level (regardless of what he's done in terms of wins and losses) and it's clearly within the realm of possibilities that he can beat Cena. I would like to think both would blur the lines when they verbally sparred. Being able to do that would allow Reigns to fly off the cuff a little more, which is clearly the better route for him when he speaks.
We'd either get the crowd behind Cena in this feud or we'd get "These guys suck" chants. If it's the former, and he's chasing the "record", then I think that is compelling. Like ND has mentioned, these two floating together allow two credible opponents to have a clean slate to have an awesome match together.

The biggest issue for Roman v. Cena will be the money they piss away by having it be babyface v. babyface. Roman needs to be a clear cut heel, and I know this isn't 1987 but that shit still gets over. It'll just be so corny hearing Roman talking about taking Cena's spot and then Cena having to be muzzled so he can't shoot on Roman and bury him like he'd do to AJ, Dean, Bryan, Del Rio, Cesaro (remember the time he said he'd wrestle circles around ADR and Cesaro....oh Cena). Maybe Roman turns heel after he beats John Cena, proclaiming he is the legit new John Cena unlike AJ who's just a poser, idk. Boring.
Cena's nothing-but-complimentary promos in the build would be nauseating and would make me hate the match.
There's no way that will work. He needs to be the Cena that "called out" Miz and, to some extent, Ambrose.

Cocky, heel Roman would be incredible. Just the natural extension of what he's done the past couple weeks. I'm not some wrestling hipster who would start cheering heel Roman, but I'd be a lot more interested in the gimmick.
Dude I feel the % of fans who would just automatically start swinging from Roman's nuts is a very small number. I mean it happens all the time, it's not like nobody was a fan of heel Rock or heel Austin in 2001. I actually found heel Austin to be fucking amazing in terms of his comedic work that we never saw or that wasn't exactly as intentional as him singing with Kurt Angle haha. But the % of fans who will literally just start cheering him to be a wrestling hipster isn't a number I'd be concerned with. And it bugged me when I heard like JBL or Rosenberg say that fans will just start cheering Roman if he turns heel like we're all from Canada lol. That's not the case, and Roman might provide something more valuable at this moment in his career as a heel because he sure as shit isn't doing much as a good guy........
Heel Roman as champ with somebody like Balor, smaller, older, had to work for everything, chasing the strap would be money. Or, hell, Joe as a face who prides himself on pulling himself up by his bootstraps since he's not from THAT Samoan family and things weren't handed to him would be great.
Fans already think Roman is the spoiled child of the WWE. Let him go full-blown spoiled dbag and heel it up.
