Congrats to the Yankees, but Austin Jackson could have had an inside the park strikeout with the dropped third and no tag/throw. If he only had a brain.

    Red Sox were better
Going to get swept by Indians
    CC was to old

Fortunately for Cleveland they had that NBA title win a couple of years ago. I could only imagine how much more painful this would be if this was just another painful moment with no titles at all since the 1964 Browns.

I vowed I wouldnt cheer for Washington no matter what after that season they shut down Strassberg when they had a chance at it all.

Plus LA vs Houston would give us games in good weather.

I oddly sort of want the Yanks to win because I'll care about the WS more if I can root against them. Ideally they'd lose in the most heartbreaking fashion.

Whichever team wins is going to have to pull out all the stops only to have to fly across the country to play tomorrow.

Amazing game last night. Feel bad for the nats due to their history in post season play but love it. Bring on cubs vs Yankee world series.

Going to be another tough series, especially with 1 day off while the Dodgers have been chilling for the past few days. Definitely going to be interesting to see who Madden starts. Would almost have to be Lackey.

MLB and FOX has to be over the moon. #1 vs #4 and #2 vs #3 in terms of metro populations in America. Tons of history with New York and LA, defending champs in the Cubs and the up and coming team in Houston who could play in another 2 or 3 WS in the next 5 years.

I'd say LA/NY would be the ideal matchup for the MLB.

Good pitching duel going on here. Verlander is dealing. Glad to see him doing his thing this late in the postseason. That trade worked out great.

Horrible decision to send him home but it worked out in their favor. Tough beat for the Yanks when they had him dead to rights at home. Catcher blew it (and I guess DiDi should have made a better throw).

I would say NY/Cubs. Gets the defending champs and games starting on the west coast are crappy for TV. Either they start before the West Coast is out of work and the stadium is half empty. Or it starts later and ends after midnight.

I'm hoping Houston pulls it off this year. Excellent story with Verlander, 4 straight 100 loss seasons, rebuilding internally, the floods and an all-around feel good story.

Not sure how you can make a better throw than that? Sanchez just stinks as a catcher and as a hitter he is overrated. Him batting cleanup for the Yankees is laughable

He's in the argument as best hitting catcher in baseball and he's the second best hitter (and second best power hitter) on the Yankees. Who would you have batting cleanup for the Yankees?

Yes Didi of course. Sanchez had a good power year with 30 homers but I was never a fan of his this year. I think he benefited from the stadium with his numbers and his defense is really bad. I would put Didi at 4 and maybe even move someone else to 3. Maybe put Sanchez at 5 or 6 right now.

Honestly, it's an irrelevant point because Houston is going to sweep this series and move on to bigger and better things.

These postseason games are so long. Average game time is up 21 minutes from 2 years ago for nine inning games.

Glad the Yankees are making a series out of it. Hopefully the Cubs can do the same.

What's the average now? Defintiely feels like it's around 3:40

Yahoo sports says the average time for these playoff games is 3:41. Doesn't help when the first inning of the Twins/Yankees was over an hour alone.

Its partly due to teams managing differently. Bull pens are being used more and more.

I'd like to think it's because the games carry so much more weight, and they do take longer because of that, but we all know that it's due to prolonged commercial breaks, right?

I think it's a bit of both. Having a 3 man rotation gives you two more bullpen arms to utilize.

I love baseball, and it pains me to say that the league is better off with the Yankees succeeding.

Yeah the bullpen is going to change the way game is played here soon. I think 2 years ago there was over 100 starting pitchers who pitched 200+ innings for the year and this year there was 41.

A lot of strategy is being placed around starters only going 5 innings. Dave Roberts has made a fucking art form of it against the Cubs.

Also heard there is quite a bit of inner talk within the MLB of adding 2 more teams. The expos could be making a return, talk of Portland and of course something in Mexico or London.

That Yankees game was about as exciting as postseason baseball gets. Then it followed up with the best baseball moment of my adult life when the Dodgers went up 3-0 on a highly-skilled champion Cubs team.

I haven't tasted a World Series appearance since I was 11. Need the boys to close here tomorrow.

Dodgers vs. Yankees would be all time.

Come on Astros. I could get some money if you win it all.

Dodgers look the most likely to win it all though even if the Astros come back and win the series.

That was my second baseball game and was so much better than the first one. Great atmosphere and pretty much the whole game made sense to me. Nothing against the Dodgers - I love their no.10 with the crazy ginger beard - but I've definitely adopted the Cubs as my team now so would love to see them make a comeback.

New York Yankees: Down 0-2 to Cleveland, won 3 in a row, down 0-2 to Houston, won 3 in a row, Sanchez with 5 rbi in his last 2 games, Tanaka with only 2 earned runs against in the playoffs. Judge slugging over .800, bullpen near perfect, starters amazing, won 19 of 22 last home games,1 win away from the World Series; etc.... etc....exciting times.

The Astros can't seem to hit a beach ball at this point. It will be interesting to see if things change when they go home. Even if they win game 6, they will have their number 3 starter vs one of the better Yankee Pitchers. Maybe they go with a Morton, Peacock combo in the first 6 innings if it reaches game 7.

The Yankees seem to be unbeatable at home right now but then again the Astros bullpen did them no favors either. The Dodgers bullpen seems to be the best in the NL. The Yanks have the offense, the starting pitching, and the bullpen and unbeatable at home. It is going to be hard to be them in a 7 game series.

Dodgers versus Yankees would be great on so many levels. NY v LA. Powerhouse of sport. Major markets. NL Rookie Berlinger v AL Rookie Judge. Epic.

All that said, I still want Houston to win it. If you follow baseball, it's hard to not support Houston and the way they've managed to build such an impressive team the last couple of years.

so are like 5 other teams. Everyone just assumes everyone will go to the Yankees. Future looks OK in my opinion. Their bullpen looks very good but it's rare the dominance carries over from one year to the next like that. CC is just getting older. Tanaka looked good in the postseason but his full season was average. Gardner is good but getting older, Judge and Didi are awesome. Sanchez is overrated and terrible behind the plate. Frazier has the heart but he only hit like 210 this season. Hicks probably isn't the CF of the future. I think Bird will be good in a full healthy season. Castro is meh.

Yeah, nothing special bringing that team to the ALCS.

I wouldn't have been disappointed to see him in a Mets uniform, but I understand why they chose Callaway.

My buddy who lives in New York just text me and said Joe was offered a contract but denied. According to him, it was Joe's choice to part ways, not the Yankees. If this is the case, it would be an interesting decision. I'm not really sure, outside of a Front Office role, of a job better then NY Yankees Manager.

Hes going to go home. Has a son in HS who is a draft prospect, and a daughter in Middle School. His oldest is in college. He is going to enjoy some family time.

The Yankees statement says they decided to move in a different direction. This was a front office decision because Girardi would command 4 or 5 million dollars and they want a cheaper option to read from the analytics binder.

His statement seems to read like the Yankees didn't want him back. Interesting to see how this will play out. If he isn't burnt out, could he head to the Nationals?
