If New York offered Clint Frazier for Gerritt Cole, Pittsburgh would be dumb to decline. That said, unless NY is trying to run the table for 2 years and say fuck the future, they would be dumb to trade Frazier. Their pitching is not that bad.

The Longoria trace felt like a desperate attempt to bring in a star player to sell tickets and drive power. It won’t work. And they’re sacrificing their future in the effort.

Longoria was THE cornerstone of our franchise but it's undeniable he's on a downward trajectory and what once was arguably the best contract in baseball is heavily backloaded into his mid 30s. This is purely about salary and sadly the deal is happening now because in 2 years time the $53 million left on his contract is gonna be very hard to shift.
Is anyone actually happy with this one? We lose the most iconic and beloved player in franchise history for what I would consider not much in return (including taking on Denard fkn Span's shitty albeit soon to expire contract) and the Giants fans are unhappy about trading for an ageing player in decline
