Yep it's been on my radar. I heard some of the people who did the anime Bleach were part of it but I can't confirm.

Saw this last night definitely looks interesting. Will they be an English version or are we lucky to just get subtitles?

So Affleck is going to be Batman in the Flash movie but that is probably the end of it.

variety reporting that robert pattinson is set to be cast as the lead for the batman.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/variety...203125473/amp/

apparently the deal isnt finalized, and nicholas hoult is also in the running.

dont think ive seen pattinson in anything that could accurately gauge how he is as an actor. i think, from a physical and looks standpoint, he fits much better than hoult, but I've seen way more of hoult's work.

Pattinson is a great actor, it's just impossible for him to shake off the Twilight junk. The last movie I saw him in was Good Time which was easily one of my favorite films of 2017 and he was really good in it. It's going to be an uphill battle for him if he gets the part though... he'll need to really bulk up. He's not exactly my first choice that would play Batman, but eh fuck it.

Ooooh, this will make Ben Affleck look like nothing. If he is a good fit, than cool, but I will be getting my pitchfork ready because I like to nerd rage.

I was wrong about Ledger still very leary of this choice. I'd feel better if Scourse was involved in this.

I was one of the few people defending Ledger and I will defend this too. He has what it takes to be good, but I have less faith in Matt Reeves than Christopher Nolan.

I’d take Pattinson over Hoult, although I’m really not convinced on the jawline.

Rumor is Catwoman and Peguin as the main villians with Riddler as a cameo. Sounds like Gotham or Batman Returns.

Ledger really changed the game when it comes to waiting before passing judgement. I didn't even like Bale until The Dark Knight.

Pattinson could be good but imo it feels more like trying to bank on Twilight fans being interested than appealing to Batman fans. Probably because we are dicks and hate every one but Keaton and West lol.

Hush could work. Since Batman is public enemy #1 he could try and destroy Bruce Wayne as well. There are Hush stories that don't involve other villains. Anything would be better than Riddler.

I’ve never seen a twilight movie but based on his physical appearance and watching about 20 seconds of the clips BC posted above I think this is a great choice. He looks the part to me.

Female penguin seems weird but I’m in for some classic Melissa McCarthy hijinks.

Don't think he looks the part entirely really. I do believe he can act though, and his brooding default plus being now clearly more aged/mature than his twilight days could make for an interesting and current Bruce Wayne. Just not sold much at all yet on believing that the what I've seen of him thus far is actually the man kicking ass in the batsuit.

Fingers crossed though and willing to give benefit of the doubt.

Both him and Stewart have more or less killed their Twilight fan appeal by very specifically choosing to do small, low budget, dark, independent films since the franchise finished. I doubt that the studio are picking him for his star appeal.

I'm going to disagree. You never lose that appeal when you're part of an enormous franchise I don't care what low budget, unknown films you do. I'm not going to say it's 100% all about his Twilight fame, but it helps tremendously.

Having a huge female following because of Twilight is definitely considered a bonus in WB's eyes, but Reeves probably wanted him because of all the work he's done since then.

I have no doubt that they didn't sit around going "Ok what big heartthrob of the last 20 years can we get to play Batman?" But if Pattinson's name was in the mix, the studio's erection went from 10 year old Chinese kid to 25 year old Mandingo in a heartbeat. I know mine would. You have a guy who apparently can actually act plus he has this mega huge fanbase.

It'd be like if they cast homeboy who plays Harry Potter as the next Tony Stark. They're not doing it for his nude performance on the stage as much as they'd be doing it to bank on that Harry Potter fanbase. The reason these people try to do these weird movies and performances on stage is to hopefully not be pidgeonholed in those roles but they'll never escape it. They'll never do anything bigger than that and there's nothing wrong it.

Do you know why I was able to sit there Les Miserables and the Illusionist? Because it had motherfuckin Wolverine. I don't give a shit if Hugh Jackman can sing and dance and give us a boring performance about life in the 1800's. Just the idea of Wolverine as a magician is good enough to draw me in.

Ah my bad it was The Prestige. Quasi-similar concept and came out the same year (2006). One starred The Hulk, the other starred Batman and Wolverine.

Anyone but Joker is fine with me. What about Man-Bat? A creature that could kill people, Bats gets blamed, and he could consider if he's the monster as well. Not to mention the Man-Bat missions in the Arkham games were some of the best.

I definitely agree that they need to do some fresh villains we haven't seen on film yet. Clayface and Man-Bat are both good shouts. Hell, do one with both of them that's got more of a horror film tone.

That's what I loved about Gotham. They didn't just have the same 3 villains we've fucked with for decades: Penguin, Catwoman, Joker. You had so many villains that never really get the love. For fuck's sake, THE RIDDLER is slept on hard. He's been in 2 Batman movies ever. The 1960's movie and Batman Forever. I loved Jim Carrey as The Riddler, that dude knocked it out the park.

I heard a rumor that once upon a time Eddie Murphy had been considered for the role in the Nolan films. If that ever happens, I will make it my life's work to figure out to blow myself, that would be amazing.

I'm still negative that we haven't had Nightwing in anything. I guess Teen Titans woo hoo! But movie-wise, where's Nightwing? Now would be the best time. Have the girl Robin, bring Nightwing in, old man Batman on his last leg. They really pissed away the Bane storyline in The Dark Knight Returns.

Yeah I'd really like to see The Riddler get back on screen. That would be awesome. I think there was a rumor floating around before Dark Knight Rises that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was supposed to play him in that movie.

First off that's right, the movie was called RISES, not Returns. Thinking of the book.

Second, I might be thinking it was that movie Eddie Murphy was going to be the Riddler. Never heard Levitt in the running, might have been cool, would have made up for his shit role as Cobra Commander.

I feel like they would each pair well in their own films with a normal powered crime boss...

It occurs to me Black Mask had Janus Cosmetics, which had a product line that was disfiguring people...
It wouldn't take a lot to make Clayface an industrial accident of Janus Cosmetics, and go on a revenge rampage against Sionis...

Man Bat... Maybe a film where Dr. Langstrom owes a lot of money to Great White Shark? Langstrom keeps taking out mob loans for his research that he can't pay back...

Depending on how The Joker does, I bet we do see more stand alone movies about villains. Venom did pretty well, but I don't know if I consider him a clear cut villain. He was in Spider-Man 3 but the comics, the cartoons, and now the movie, they've really bent the way we look at him.

I should clarify when I said Clayface and Manbat in their own movies, I meant their own separate Batman films...
Where it would be Batman, them and then mobsters that would be in service to their plots...

Basically what we see in Batman movies since the jump? But moreso the Nolan movies because you had Falcone and all the mobsters that lingered throughout the 3 movies, while you had the main villains working with them in some way.

I think Birds of Prey is going to be another good one focusing on "villains" so to speak. I'm not too familiar with everyone in that movie so maybe I'm wrong about the villain part.

Jonah Hill is reportedly in talks to play either The Riddler or Penguin in 'The Batman.' Money is also a factor in Jonah Hill's decision, who originally asked for $10M. Robert Pattinson is being paid less than $5M.

I think he would be good in either role, although I'm not particularly excited for another reboot regardless of casting. I mean, yea, him and Battinson would be good but the writer and director are far more important. Hopefully if Hill is considering it, it means it's a good script.

I would like another five years without a Batman movie. This Joker film is going to change DC around if it is as successful as I fear it could be. We still will get Wonder Woman and Aquaman sequels, but I think they are going to lean hard into very dark villain stories. Something, I'm not here for.

It always felt like to me that the majority of the Batman movies were more about the villains than Batman. The only one that really stands out where the majority of the focus was on Batman was Batman Begins. Movies like Batman Forever, The Dark Knight, etc. all seemed to focus heavily on the villains.

And DC movies always seem very dark in general, especially with the success of the Nolan films it seemed like that was the tone compared to MCU where it's more about one liners and RDJ's quips with some serious stuff sprinkled in. That's why him and Widow, moreso Iron Man, dying was so big, nobody of worth ever really died in those movies.

There's no clear indication that the success of Joker will change anything around. It's more of a sign that they've decided to not have their characters be beholden to singular universe. Smart move, in my opinion.

I agree. I'm cool with the universe stuff and I love the crossovers and everything. But sometimes you need to be able to do your art without the shackles of catering to other stories.

Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Paul Dano as The Riddler just made my penis smile.

The Riddler is my all-time favorite Batman villain. I have to be disappointed by an actor portraying the role. And with Catwoman in the mix, I have to wonder what material, if any, they are pulling this story from.

I looked at Paul Dano's IMDB and the only 2 movies I've seen of his were extremely spread out. Little Miss Sunshine and Prisoners.

I still haven't watched 12 Years a Slave. Those type of movies are tough to get through.

Headed to bed but just saw Michael Keaton might play Batman in the new Flash movie! I'll take what I can get but would much prefer for Keaton to just be Batman in a movie about a aged Batman.

Sounds good, I'm not too enthused for the Flash movie either way but then again I haven't watched Aquaman or Shazam yet. Keaton is great so getting him back in the suit would be fun but I'm still confused about how Battinson and Keaton would exist together in the same universe. I'm basing this on the fact that Wikipedia says The Batman is part of the DCEU, but who knows. It could be a period piece for all we know.

Not that it matters but of note since he would theoretically be taking over for Affeck: Keaton is 68, Affleck is 47. Kind of an age jump there so I'd be curious if they acknowledge the transition.

The article sort of explains how it'll all wrap together and co exist because of The Flash basically causing different time lines.

I'm not too familiar with Flash but I'd have given it a try, Keaton or not.

I thought Aquaman was ok. Standard stuff.

Shazam was fucking spectacular. Maybe because I had zero expectation going in to the theaters (just wasting time with kids over the weekend) but it was great. Go watch.

I liken the way it made me feel to Guardians of the Galaxy. I knew nothing about it and had zero expectations and it rocked my ass.

I'm so down for Keaton as Batman it's ridiculous. This can't happen soon enough.

that article does indeed explain it (or at least how we can presume it will work). multiverse eh? I'm not opposed but my faith in the DCEU is low, but then again I can't fairly speak on it having not seen the aforementioned solo movies yet. it's the same conversation we just had about Tobey McGuire re-appearing as Spidey in Sam Raimi's upcoming Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness except here they are seemingly bringing Keaton in to be a recurring important character and merging the worlds as opposed to just a cameo (not that the Tobey thing is anything more than a fanboy wish at this point).

We need to finally get that Batman Beyond movie into fruition. It's a damn good story and would allow Keaton to play mentor to a new Batman of the future.

I'm curious what his Batman will do. It could very well be a way to introduce the Batman Beyond stuff, or it could just be a cameo of sorts. He could be the Thomas Wayne version of Batman for all we know. Very early, the article doesn't mention (at least to my knowledge) that he has even signed on but as superfan, this is still great news!! No doubt my favorite Batman ever.

    This is HUGE!

Michael Keaton got me into Batman and superheroes in general so I'm interested to see where they'll go with this. Love the fact that it's going to ignore Batman Forever and Batman & Robin and pick up from Batman Returns. I wish I liked Miller as Barry/Flash, but I'm just not crazy about him in the role. I'll be there for sure. I think the way they might go about it is that Barry in attempts to save his mom enters multiple multiverses, and Keaton is in a Batman Beyond futuristic universe with Damian maybe, and he has to figure out a way to prevent this crisis. Barry could also meet Thomas Wayne and another version of Superman along the way.

Can Ezra Miller fuck off, though? His Flash was an annoying twat and he's apparently a looney cunt behind the scenes. Oh, and there's also video of him choking a woman. Get rid of him.

Naw his Flash was awesome, best part of Justice League.

I am curious why there isn't more than just a 3 second clip of that choking incident. Nothing from the chick who was choked, nothing in the last 3 months since it happened. Maybe he gets a pass because he's bi and thought he was a girl and that it was ok. Seen it happen a thousand times at a club next door to where we used to perform.

Highly possible that Miller and/or his people paid the girl money and had her sign an NDA. The dude sounds like more trouble than he's worth.

Whatever they do with Keaton will be great because Keaton will make it great.

Really hoping we can wedge Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman in this somewhere too.

Maybe even get Billy Dee William's version of Two Face finally. I don't care if he's older now.

I really just want Keaton's Bat back, at the front of all this. Give Keaton his own movie dammit. Flash is a great character and all but if Keaton signed I feel like his story is bigger than anything that a Flash story could conjur up.

Just give me Keaton. I want his story.

Michael Keaton is 68. I would love one more Batman film with him, and it could potentially be a powerful movie, but it's totally understandable if he doesn't want to do that.

At his age, he's starting to look like he's better suited to play Alfred Pennyworth than Batman. But he was terrific as Bruce Wayne, and I'd bet he could still put on the mask and make us want to watch every scene he's in.

Yes he's older. Sure he might not want the full schedule. He still looks to be in great shape for 68. In better shape than Val Kilmer that's for sure.

So many options though. Catwoman is still out there. Billy Dee's Two Face. They could redo Riddler or other villains Keaton's Bat hasn't faced. Maybe Joker had a kid that wants revenge. Michael Gough, who played his Alfred, has passed so maybe Batman deals with Alfred's death.

It's smart though. Gets huge buzz for The Flash. Maybe people that are on the fence about seeing Flash get hooked in because of Keaton. I haven't been going to the theater, when they were open, as much as I used to because of a few different reasons. I missed a couple of those DC flicks on the big screen. I won't miss Flash if Keaton is in it.

No Thomas Wayne Batman at all apparently. That role is being replaced with Keaton's Batman. Interesting.

I think the hook for The Flash is going to be seeing at the very least Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne and/or Batman. I don't think it's going to be as deep as you're hoping, me as well, but I'm down with a simple cameo. I can't imagine he'd sign on if it was just a small cameo where Flash sees him in passing if he's going to put on the suit. A little team-up action wouldn't be bad. The Flash imo isn't someone I'm interested completely solo unless it's the origin story and we're passed that now.

So putting him with others, kind of like how they do on the show, seems to work. I'm very excited.

Jett from Batman on Film says the deal with Keaton is done. He says Keaton's salary demands meant that his part had to be expanded in the script to the point that he's the co-lead of the film and Flashpoint will be the main inspiration, but it won't be a straight adaptation. He's known about the Keaton negotiations for weeks, but kept it quiet out of respect for El Mayimbe. Keaton's next movie will be Batman Beyond with a female protege who will become Batgirl. Keaton will also serve as the DCEU's version of Batman moving forward with a "Fury" mentor role over multiple future films. Pattinson's Batman will be a separate trilogy and won't be connected at all kind of like Joker.

    All of this sounds great.

Patiently waiting for June 3rd 2022.

3 days before what will be my 7th wedding anniversary. It is the exact 11th anniversary of our first date.

Hope my wife is up for a movie date night.

Fuck yeah. The Batgirl part sounds like conjecture, but it also makes sense.

If they're using Batgirl instead of Terry McGinnis, then it's not really Batman Beyond.

Michael Keaton is in talks to return as Batman. (And by Batman we also mean Bruce Wayne. Despite pesky rumors from certain corners there is no Thomas Wayne in the script sources tell us. Also: Keaton would appear in costume.)

Honestly I've never been one to care if someone is in costume. If he showed up as old man Bruce that's all I'd need. The costume just makes it possible to enjoy a lackluster Bruce lol.

I just hope he does in fact sign on and this is legit. It's almost absurd how some of these movies and roles never come to life.

Not in this thread but in the Asylum "Celebrity Deaths" thread we did.

His Batman work isnt what he should he remembered for which is why it probably didn't get a mention. (I don't mind Batman Forever in truth)

He made some great films but his Batman stuff gets shit on in general.

I rather liked Batman Forever when I was younger. Partially because I was a little gay for Robin and because I enjoyed Carrey's Riddler. Batman & Robin was pretty rough but even that one I think I liked when i first saw it theater. his flicks are bad but they have a certain charm in their campiness and harkening to the old 60s show. Arnold's Freeze is pratically a beloved character for how ridiculous and groan-worthy he was.

    100% how I feel.

Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing Chris get that Robin gear back on.

    Ditto for Jim and Riddler.

Arnold was so bad he was good. "You're not sending me to the cool-ah". Every time Arnold says a cringe worthy line take a shot. I played this game and got lit up.

If we're talking not Batman Schumacher though, I quite enjoyed Flatliners.

Batman Forever was basically fine. Really colorful, and Kilmer was serviceable as Batman. Jim Carrey makes something new with his Riddler, giving him a bit of flavor.

Batman Forever was really good. Batman and Robin.....Honestly it's not even my least favorite Batman, that belongs to Batman Begins and by no means am I saying it sucks, I'm just saying one of them have to be last lol. I think if you're a fan of the 60's Batman you enjoyed the last 2 from the 90's.

The turn towards that more campy throwback to the 60's vibe was that Batman was dark, Batman Returns was borderline horror, and they wanted to sell more toys. Despite the fact that the movie merch for the first 2 films were selling just fine. But it's hard to market Batman to a 5 year old I guess if Penguin is eating raw fish and trying to fuck Catwoman lol.

Forever was still pretty dark but nothing like the previous 2. Even the animated series was darker, more mature imo.
