It really is, expected nothing less from Beast. He will be missed, but it was obvious he wasn't going to be back, retirement or not. Glad he's able to walk away on his own terms. Saw something that he hasn't touched the 50+ million he's made in the NFL. I'm thankful I was able to see him beast through the NFL. I'd put him as the best back in franchise history.

If Marshawn had that o-line, we'd be asking where he stands with the greatest of all time.

    Eagles cut Riley Cooper
    Saints cut Jahri Evans
Falcons cut Justin Durant and William Moore

I only know the name Adam Schefter because of Madden MUT but he is apparently adamant that the Eagles are going to trade back for Nick Foles.

Moore and Durant are both half decent. Neither could stay healthy though. Moore especially.

Peyton Manning has to be the least deserving winning Quarterback in Super Bowl history. God Lord that was painful to watch.

    He learnt from his GM

Elway was 12/22, 123 Yds 0 TD 1 INT when they beat Green Bay.

Guys like Lynch and Megatron retiring before turning 31 and both are younger than me...

Watching DB tonight made me realize we are never going to have guys last longer than 10-12 years in wrestling or football again. This last crop of Mannings, Bradys, and Brees(es) will become rarer than getting killed by a comet (how nuts was that guy dying like that?).

Trent Dilfer has something to say about that

Off legacy sure but 2015 Manning was statistically worse than 2000 Dilfer. It's very impressive and notable to win the Super Bowl with a team passer rating that ranked 31st in the league in the regular season. I don't think a lot of people thought that was possible in this era. But the cliche that defense wins championships is still holding true.

Interesting article on Manning's squeaky clean image and covered up sexual assault case from university; http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nati...0395?cid=bitly

Yea there are some disturbing details in there. The fact that he dragged his ass and balls on a female trainer's face has been known - and that's bad in itself and deserved repercussions, but I think most people could chalk that up being an 18 year old kid and say it's not THAT big of a deal if he would have just owned up to it and apologized and whatever, gone on probation or something. Ended it there. I mean it was a form of sexual assault but wasn't like rape or anything (in my opinion). But to deny it and then cruelly taunt her and attack her and discredit her and effectively ruin the career of a woman trying to be something of a pioneer in an all-male business, it's really sick. You can see the parallels between how he tried to cover up this and the HGH thing. Deny, deny, attack. If you catch Peyton doing something illegal and want to come forward, you better be ready for Archie and the gang to bring a shit storm to your doorstep. Shady stuff.

Tom Brady is such a better person than this dude.

I'm going that way with all the reports I've been reading if indeed are true which are by few people now.

How fucked are the Broncos going to be? Miller, Jackson and Trevathan all up and due pretty big pay days and that's with them needing to sort out the QB situation as well. Is Ware likely to be kept or will they cut him to free up space?

They're gaining close to £20m by losing Manning. I think they'll lose Jackson and one of the linebackers.

That's IF he retires. But you have to factor in that Von Miller is going to get one hell of a pay day... that's going to be a $10m+ hit. If they go with Osweiller as the long term plan, he was on peanuts this year so that's another large chunk of Manning's cap space.

I can see them cutting Ware and wearing the dead money from it. That's another $8m+ freed up on a guy who will be 34yo come next season.

Ware I expect to be cut, hopefully to return home! Miller will be tagged and they'll work out a deal which will be friendly to this year's cap later down the line. They aren't even close to "fucked", plenty can be done to massage the cap even if Manning doesn't retire.

10m would be freed because of a roster bonus he'd be due. The dead money is insignificant in size compared to the savings at this point - there's a reason all his guaranteed money came in years 1 and 2.

Restructuring Thomas is an option if they need it. That can open up a whole bunch.

I find all this massaging stuff fascinating. I wish I had had this kind of interest in it when I first followed it... though the internet has probably made it much easier to look at, analyse and discuss. Can't imagine a site like http://overthecap.com/ existing in the mid 90's.

There's also this... $12m up on season just gone.
