The Paul Heyman interview is up and it's phenomenal.

Heyman tempts Austin to comeback and face Brock...

Heyman was awesome. I love that even he hates chairshots to the head. Heyman being an advocate against the headshots could help open the eyes of all the assholes who still wanna scramble brains just because WWE doesn't allow it.

The Heyman podcast was great. I love the story about how Paul got the Stone Cold character out of Steve Austin in ECW. Almost as if Heyman knew Steve Austin better than Steve Austin.

Haha, yeah. I couldn't deal with that.

Liked how Heyman spoke so highly of Brock's ring work. For a guy who has been a full timer for 2 years and wrestled just 7 matches on top of that in WWE, his list of great matches is kind of insane.

    Looking forward to part 2.

Well I made a top 10 in the top 10 thread. Most of those I had. The Benoit match on Smackdown in December '03 is also great. As is the Rey match from I think the same month. I'm a big fan of the stretcher match with Show but the ring collapse one might be better.

Not sure how much of this is Heyman's BS, but if TNA was 90 million in debt back when he was talking to them that's absolutely ludicrous. I really do wonder what their financial situation is.

i would do abominable things to hear the unrecorded 2 hours between podcasts.. Even Heyman said "If i'd like to stay employed on this basis, at the moment, i think we should keep that off the record."

Anyone still bothering with the Ross Report? Seems like there's been quite a backlash. I've not been listening either. When you listen to him rambling on about the same stuff before, after and even during the interviews he doesn't half start to get on your nerves.

the first two with austin were amusing just to hear JR going "off script" about WWE but i haven't listened to any others pretty much because no one's talked about them in a good way.

His early ones against Jeff Hardy were great too IMO.

BTW, the 2nd part of the Heyman interview was great. Especially the part about how is last run ended at around the WWECW period.

Yeah I'm sick of JR's one. He just seems to resent the majority of wrestling fans and large parts of it just seem to become lectures on what you should and shouldn't like in wrestling.

Colt Cabana has Gangrel on his latest show. Really great interview. I didn't realize how old he is, and how long he has been wrestling. He talks about getting a pep talk from the Slickster. They go into Gangrel's All Japan run, and how much Vince(McMahon) was against a vampire character all together.

    Episode 195 with Gangrel.

Third best podcast that I've listened to this week.(The Heyman interviews were superb)

Heyman part 2 was great. As Excel said, the Vince sneezing story is magnificent. Not to mention the punchline after he discusses his firing from the writing team in 2004.

Heyman doesn't seem to care about that type of thing anymore. There's no reason for him to bite his tongue if he doesn't give a shit.

Cheap Heat had the cast of Legends House on. Pretty decent. I love how Rosenberg and Shoemaker go about the entire show as fanboys and the guys play along, especially the end where they beg Fink to do the introduction to a match.

Good call. What a great guy. I don't know why but for some reason I thought he had a bit of a bad reputation - came across as super nice here. Always liked the Gangrel gimmick. Shame he never made it back to TV all the times WWE re-signed him.

Its a good time to be a wrestling fan. Between the great shows lately, the WWE network, The Daniel Bryan Wrestlemania lead up documentary and these Podcasts we are getting so much awesome content. Paul Heyman should write a book asap.

They didn't wanna pay him too much and the dude is a god down in mexico, so he went back there where he lives like a king. He also did Wrestling Society X, which was awesome.

When Rey was on his podcast Jericho said he had tried to convince WWE to sign him back in 2001. They were apparently hesitant about signing a guy like him but were more interested in the likes of Vampiro. Obviously that never happened. He's worked all over the place though.

Most notably of course, he was the first ever WSX WORLD CHAMP on MTV.

Just got done listening to both Rey interviews on Jericho. I don't think Jericho gets the best out of his guests. JR get better stories out of his guests, and Austin destroys them all.

I'm starting Piper's pit now. Thoughts later.

I listened to Piper's first show. It was recorded right before WM30. I have to say give it some time. I vaguely remember one of his co-hosts, and didn't know the other. They are fumbling around trying to get their feet. They really find it when Hacksaw comes on the phone. Hacksaw and Piper start riffing on each other, and they find their pace. I'll listen to the other one tomorrow.

Also guys Adam Carolla is going around the pod casts talking about being sued by patent trolls and is trying to get together a legal defense fund for all pod casts. I believe he is a guest on this weeks Stone cold podcast. Watch the video for more information.

    Here's the link: http://fundanything.com/patenttroll?locale=en

What exactly is Personal Audio suing you for?

The Adam Carolla Show is being sued for infringing on Personal Audio’s patent 8,112,504 “System for disseminating media content representing episodes in a serialized sequence”. Their lawsuit is claiming that podcasting itself violates the patent.

Not a podcast, but it'll work. On Your Mark - Pro Wrestling Talkshow. Host is Mark Extreme. I've decided, Yes, I do enjoy this very much. New Episodes every Tuesday. Definitely worth wasting 5 mins a week on this show.

Here's another clip that has some upcoming guests.

I finally got time to listen to Jim Cornette on JR's podcast. I generally enjoy listening to Cornette, but I just didn't get into the episode. Maybe it's because I've been down on JR's podcast lately, but the stories were lackluster. It also seemed like they spent a great deal of time putting themselves over.

I was kinda disappointed by the Cornette episode. I just felt like they didn't tackle anything big…Cornette's shoots are so good, and there wasn't anything like it on JRs podcast.

Not to mention the fact that Cornette doesn't watch WWE now, so he had little to say about Taker's streak, Bryan, etc.

Jericho taking calls from rednecks about the loch ness monster though...*face palm*

    Guys, I need some advice.

The only pod cast I have had time to listen to so far was Austins with Bret Hart, and I really liked. Should I stick with going through all of Austins, or mix it up a bit?

    Which other ones are good?

Just read through the thread man. I enjoy Jericho's when he interviews wrestlers. Colt Cabana has a few good ones. Can't get on with JR's one. Pretty much all of Austin's are great though.

Yeah Austin's is the best. Jericho's and Colt's generally depend on the guest. Only JR ones I'd recommend are the ones with Austin.

There's so many good Austin ones, he's had almost every big name on there and is working on getting taker and HHH too. He has podcasts with Nash, hall, waltman, and hbk, not to mention Daniel Bryan, John cena, big show, heyman, cornette and loads more. The guy is awesome

I'd start off with Heyman's from last week (two parts) which was just great. The two parter with Ric Flair is really good. Cena, Big Show and Shawn Michaels are all great but there's so many.

Eric Bischoff coming soon and he says Undertaker, Vince and Trips have all agreed to come on soon too.

Being a big name star who could come back for one last match gives you quite the leverage in the WWE it seems.

"If a rat hits the ring, don't backdrop that motherfucker because you gon' have to get it over the fifty foot mark. Only backdrop a rat if you can backdrop him over fifty-one feet. And then he will sell that backdrop. Because if you don't, you gon' expose the business."

Austin ranting and raving about rats is money. This is another reason his podcast is easily the best of the bunch. Colt's stories can sometimes be fun, Jericho's musings are mostly dull... JR's repetitive bullshit on wrestling protagonists and antagonists and TNA as a credible alternative to WWE that's my take but hey what do I know I'm just an old fan from rural Oklahoma is just that. Austin can spend 15 minutes shouting about backdropping rats and it's great.

Austin's podcast is great because he's just an interesting motherfucker to listen to. I love Colt's too because I like hearing from guys i've never heard of before. The 2 Aussie guys on this week's AOW were really intriguing.

Santino on Jericho's podcast this week is just odd. He stays in character the entire time. Shame, I really wanted to hear from Carelli himself.

Austin's podcast is wonderful. Started listening last weekend and have just been plowing through them every chance I have. LOVED him going off about the rats on there. Currently have the first part of the Regal interview playing as I type this. I could listen to Austin talk about anything, I don't even mind listening to his ads because he's reading them in his style and it's still entertaining.

Oh now you're on to the podcast!?. Pffff

Austin is the best, and Colt is next. Jericho is quirky, and JR is a bit of a downer.

Hated Austin as a character but I'm loving him on his podcast.

That being said, I hated him going off on the rats. It wasn't the content, it was just that he was clearly swearing for the sake of swearing to justify the "unleashed" tagline.

I love Austin cussing up a storm. He does it in a way that I find adds color and character rather than being overbearing. He's not one of the guys that just drops the f-bomb as a filler word which I find irritating.

I've heard him going off on the rats but it seems he might have done it a few times (since he didn't talk about backdropping them in the one I heard) so I don't know if I've heard the specific bit you're referring to but I've listened to a dozen shows so far and haven't been bothered by the swearing yet. If anything, I'm finding myself preferring the Unleashed shows because his cussing is more entertaining.

I know. I practically had to drag you to the Hornswoggle episode on Art of Wrestling.

for anyone that hasn't already, It is absolutely worth it. He ends the show talking about falling asleep under the ring. Great stuff.

If you like two guys discussing wrestling may I suggest John Pollack and Wai Ting on Live Audio Wrestling's Review A Raw (posted about 12 hours after Raw goes off the air) and Review A Wai (where they review a classic PPV or TV Taping).

I listened to JR's podcast this week because I was interested in hearing from Gail Kim and he started rambling on about there being no good heels and no rules in the ring anymore. Jesus christ, give it a rest. Think I'll listen to the HBK one next week then I'll be done.

He has a point on the heels. Look at the Wyatts, they are not effective heels. They are more effective babyfaces right now with the sing along with the fans and interacting with the children. The fans are move in love with them than WWE's number one face. That makes no sense. Fans should be on Cena's side, but part of the problem is half if not more of the fanbase want Cena to turn heel or just go away. The Wyatts are playing into this and you have this very bizarre feud where people are cheering for the bad guys from Deliverance.

Good bad guys bring in money like Flair and Rock. You can make the argument for DX and the NWO, but the NWO had a shelf life of two years and DX went straight face as soon as Shawn dropped the ball and they turned Foley. Maybe they want the Wyatts to be faces which to me makes zero sense when there is potential for them to be villains like they were with Bryan and they first debuted. Yet, the IWC has taken them, why I have no idea and so now they are faces for a good chunk of the fanbase.

Cewsh put up an article about a heel female wrestler, I think Daffeny, who ran into a fan that cheered her. She pointed out to the fan, she must not be doing her job, because you are supposed to hate her. That is the correct answer. Yet, I am sure JR put it in his Prairie Home Companion way that made it sound like he wanted you off his lawn. Thus, it was easy to find the remark stupid. Why he is bitching about rules. I have no idea. Rules were thrown out the window for the most part in JR's heyday in the WWE in the 90s, so not sure what he is going on there.

I don't think it's as cut and dray as that, lotjx.

Part of the problem is that the fanbase for WWE is divided up - I love the Wyatts, but while watching with my g/f and her 8 y/o son, he abhors them to the point of jumping up and down and throwing a fit at their actions.

We, as adults, are going to be compelled to cheer for the more complex characters - which typically in the fictionalized world of wrestling are the heels. We, typically, live the lives of being continuously beaten down by our jobs or other stressors in everyday life. We find the heels to be more sympathetic because they're right. Even if they aren't right, they're justified in what they feel.

Kids typically flock to the opposite, and strive to be like the "good guy," who epitomizes what they know is right and virtuous. It's why my g/f's son digs John Cena. Because he's being raised to be a good kid, and is drawn to what is portrayed as such.

The problem isn't that the heels WWE has aren't effective - it's that the swath of people the 'E appeals to is too broad to make "effective heels." Everyone is appealed to a different aspect of the product. Unfortunately, that's a blessing, and a curse.

Having said that I just don't think JR has moved with the times at all. In this age of social media and reality, more people than ever understand how the business works. For that reason, people who are entertaining and do a good job will get cheered regardless. Heyman and Lesnar would have people out for their blood 30 years ago but as it is, people love to see them because they're so damn good.

The only people I've seen come close to really getting over as a heel recently are Triple H, Batista (unintentional) and Bo Dallas in NXT. I have high hopes for him because he's so annoying people will just want to see him get his face smashed in.

Admittedly, I listen to most podcasts kind of as background noise at work, gym, etc...I DEFINITELY missed that part!!! I was uncomfortable when JR brought up the thongs, then Punk, but I think if I had caught that 15 year old boy part, that would be all sorts of new levels of uncomfortable. Crazy.

JR is a chore to listen to. Austin is fun, but I prefer just listening to he and ted fowler shoot the shit rather than listen to him interview people. Jericho is good, but his guests range from interesting to "who gives a fuck". Colt is the only one I listen to every single week. Either his guest is interesting or I don't know enough about them, but i'm compelled to know more by the interview.

And don't forget that Cewshcast drops every Friday, folks

I think he fielded questions so he started with "You're in the hands of the fans", she said "Haha, I didn't realise I would be" or something, and then JR drew out with "Of course over the years, you were in the hands of the fans... whether you knew it or not... many young 15 year old fans..." and I decided to listen to something else.

    That is just awkward.
    ---
Jericho is hit or miss. He cracks me up sometimes when he goes off on a riff or you can tell he gets overly excited about a topic and sounds like a total mark, but there are times where it sounds like he injected the red bull straight to the heart and goes overboard. I miss Jericho here and there, and have started skipping over some JR episodes, but usually catch all of Austin's. Like Hero said, Colt pulls me in most times because I am not too familiar with his guest and I am really interested.

I've found Colt to be a really awkward interviewer, and that takes me out of his podcasts a lot of the times that i've tried it. Especially the Austin one.

Colt is just a dude with a podcast. He doesn't interview methodically like the WWE guys, but Colt has a good personal relationship with every one of his guests. Everyone from Ambrose to Miz to Angelina love has some cool stories that I don't they'd share with another podcaster. The Austin one was a bit awkward because Austin & Colt aren't friends and Austin seemed a bit confused by Colt's style of podcast.

They're an edgy group being paired up against a stale John Cena. What's not to get? They get the rub that an edgy gimmick would give them plus they get the rub that the Cena opponent gets anyway.

Seriously... name me the last program Cena had where his opponent didn't get a 50/50 split of the crowd. I think it was the first go-around with Edge... maybe Umaga?

We're not in conventional times. You can't take the genie back in the lamp, the business has been exposed as entertainment. People applaud the level of entertainment we get from a performer. Plus, we live in a more nuanced time as far as heroes and villains are viewed within entertainment.

J.R. is a dinosaur. He doesn't get that the business, and society, has moved on.

It has but it hasn't. He and Austin are right. You don't see many dastardly heels at this time. These Barrett matches could be times where he sneaks out the win with feet on the ropes, or grabbing tights. He doesn't, he hits his bull hammer for the win. Ziggler was doing it for a bit, but people started to enjoy it. He then got turned after the ovation he received upon his MITB cash-in.

Good vs evil does work. They don't have to be strictly black and white versions of good versus evil, but it works. Miz was so hated. Everyone found a reason for hating him, but he got some heat. Now the only people that can get heat when they try is HHH, Steph, and Vickie. That is sad. More tights need to be pulled, more foreign objects need to be used, and we need managers doing the little things like Zeb and Heyman are doing.

To me, he just comes off as bitter toward quite a bit of people. The business to an extent, and towards the fans even more. I don't think he means it, but you can hear it in his voice.

I listened to Roddy Piper's 3rd show. He talks with a good friend of his The Grappler aka Len Denton. They have so many great stories. Len was on a show in the SuperDome in which he got a letter from Bill Watts in his payoff envelope instead of money. They both trade some great Andre stories. It might grate on me later, but I love it when Piper says "Sweet baby Jesus".

Piper isn't anywhere as organized as Jericho or JR, but I find him so much more entertaining.

Stone colds interview with Eric Bischoff have been quite enjoyable. It looks like its going to be a 3 maybe 4 part series at this point.

the first first was incredibly tedious, guns, hinting and beer, shut the fuck up. bisch was breathing down the mic something rotten as well.

i'm half way through the second and so far it's outstanding.

Jericho really needs to stop talking for 20 minutes before the actual interview. No one is listening to this to hear about your favorite cover songs, we wanna listen to Daniel Bryan.

Chris Hero returning to Colt's was awesome. I love Hero, he's such a cool dude.

You need to have something between your first round of adverts and your second round of adverts

Part two of JR with Shawn Michaels is up. Honestly, it really isn't very good. JR isn't much of an interviewer. I much prefer his philosophical ramblings about wrestling, even if they do get a little repetitive.

The story Bischoff tells about meeting Savage in his hotel room at the end of the podcast was fucking hilarious. I mostly skip though Austin's rambling at the beginning, but it just makes it more entertaining to hear the snippets. "To any mosquitoes who might be listening, please don't drink and fly." "If a rat hits the ring, you don't Back Drop that motherfucker. Because unless you can get him at least 50 feet in the air, you expose the business."

Listened to the first three parts of Austin & Bischoff. Been really good. Looking forward to the final part about the end of WCW and his time with WWE probably the most. Hope he talks about some of his interaction with Vince.

I didn't even bother with part two of the JR one.

The Bischoff stuff is good but I feel like I've listened to him for about 10 hours in the last week.

The Bryan stuff is interesting, Jericho probably has the best interviewing style of everyone.

As much as I love Jericho and am a blind mark for him, I feel like I get more out of an Austin podcast.

It's a good week though, between Bischoff, HBK, Daniel Bryan aaaaaand I might even check out the Chris Hero interview on Art of Wrestling // I've been driving to work a lot more than I have been using the train to get into the office so it helps pass the time.

I just move straight to the interviews for JR's podcast by the way, Christ he's a grumpy bugger.

I also find grantland's Cheap Heat podcast a really fun listen. They're normally on at the end of the week and have some loose connections into the industry, one of them is very close to Mark Henry and seem to be in the faces of the wrestlers from time to time (one of the lads pulled Cena aside just to compliment him on how it shows that he's been working closely with Nikki Bella). It's a nice listen because they're genuinely enthused about wrestling.

"Davis" Shoemaker, aka the Masked Man, is a pretty good writer. His Grantland and Deadspin pieces are worth a read.

Also, I tend to be engaged by Colt and Austin more. JR is eh and as much a mark I am for Jericho, I tend to not be interested by his podcast.

Bryan is a really entertaining interview. His bit about him taking the personality test and having less ambition than anyone who had ever taken it made me laugh really hard.

I finally listened to Austin on Scott Hall's podcast. It was a really excellent interview, maybe the best of anyone I've heard. He's really open about his addictions and other issues. I hope they talk more about wrestling psychology in the next one, because everyone who's ever talked about him says Hall has one of the best minds for the business out there.

Interesting to hear Vince originally wanted Punk and Jericho to have a 10 minute double DQ brawl at Mania 28. I wonder how much it took to talk him down.

Listened to the latest episode of Piper's Pit. He had Jake the Snake as a guest. There were so many great stories. One of which involved a naked Thunder Liger. I listened to it on my way to Stl. Great stuff.

Listened to JR's podcast with Goldberg today. I've never really had an opinion on him but he came across as a really good and interesting guy. Worth a listen.
