By the way guys, check the new poll on the league page about whether to add a 3rd receiver spot for next season (2015). Personally, I'm in favor of this because I think rosters are strong enough (especially in a 10 team league) where we've all got some good players sitting on our bench. And passing yards are only going up and up so for instance, I drafted Pierre Garcon and Mike Wallace as my backup receivers when both are #1 options on their teams. I would drop a bench spot so roster sizes would stay the same overall. It wouldn't be changed until next season but think it over and vote and if people are for it, I'll note the change for next year. I might have some other rule change proposals to follow.

Just voted yes as you said we're more than deep enough to sustain another WR. I just wouldn't do it in season.

Yea I wouldn't change it in season so to repeat - this is for next year. I don't think the site would even allow me to change roster spots in season.

I voted no. I think it fundemently changes how you build a roster if you add another starting position and take away a bench spot. Especially since we already have 2 RB 2 WR a TE and a FLEX spot.

You're not giving yourself's any challenge with a roster and bench as deep as our league.

Yea we could try to get to 12 players next year. Anyway I just ask that you please vote in the poll on the league page so I can track the votes. If the majority want to keep it as is, it'll be left alone

DAMMIT St. Christopher. You are probably asleep right now but you just won on a Maclin TD in the last 2 minutes of the game. FUCK YOU!!

But, I didn't deserve to win anyway with my low score. Should have kept the Patriots defense out there. Blast.

Lovely wee bit of early morning delight that was. Watched the first half and thought fuck this I'm going to sleep, was already scunnered about Forte and leaving Gates on the bench (in my defence it was against the Seahawks). That all said I got away with one this week, very, very lucky on my part.

Sorry, late to the discussion as always.. I voted no on the poll. I wouldn't be against just adding another WR spot (in fact, I'd be totally for that), but I don't wanna add another roster spot and then lose a bench spot.
12 teams is cool if we can find 2 more good people.

I'd be okay with adding a WR and leaving the bench size alone but the reason I'd prefer to do a replacement is that it would keep the overall league size alone so the same level of free agents/waiver pickups would be available. Also I think the ESPN standard bench of 7 is big and we'd be fine with a bench of 6 and the 3 WR's. I have the BG league set to 3 WR's and only 5 bench spots.

It doesn't seem like this proposal will pass though which is fine

Holy shit my team sucks. They have no right to!

I'll trade DREW BREES or PERCY HARVIN if anyone needs them.

Or if you need a TIGHT END. I have VERNON DAVIS and MARTELLUS BENNETT. Make me an offer!

That's the sort of loss that just makes me want to quit on the season.

Tied going into the evening game, and somehow the Bengals D and Giovani Bernard combine to lose me points...

HOLY SHIT... Dave... I gave up on our match thinking I had the loss. I watched the Pats game last night not even checking our score because it was over. If not for your post right now I'd still be thinking that. Wow, unreal. Sorry though don't mean to rub it in but you just made my day!

Annoying thing was that I even considered taking the Bengals D out, but wasn't sure if I'd have the lead going into the late night game.

I didn't think I could love the Patriots anymore than I already do but they saved my fantasy season last night by destroying what was considered the best defense in the AFC.

Anyway yea that's a tough beat but you're 2-3 like me so don't give up bro, 3 losses ain't shit. You can go 8-5 and make the playoffs

That'd be me, and as I've also got Giovani Bernard, DeMarco Murray, Eddie Lacy and Branden Oliver for three potential RB slots, I'm not starting him.

Also that sinking feeling when you make a desperate trade offer without fully thinking it through because of one weeks bad play and it gets accepted without argument.

    That's where I am now.

nah. it wasn't a steal or anything in my eyes.

really wanted a reliable TE, chiefs' offense great for that.

i REALLY didn't want both bears' receivers.

I just don't know why I included Hurns. I was desperate for a WR and got blinded by his numbers to balance the trade.

I think it's just with it being accepted straight away makes me feel I could have got more. Unless Thomas goes down with something it's not like Kelce would have ever have got a start so he was just a chip.

I don't know how I won this game. I didn't deserve to (for starting Harvin over Sproles/That Johnson Guy from Atlanta/Eddie Royal) in the FLEX

but I should win for my brilliant strategy of having Kaepernick as my back-up.

I'll accept trade offers for ALFRED MORRIS now also.

New poll up on the league page: Should we add 1 point per 25 RETURN YARDS? (for next season)

Now personally I'm in favor of this because to me, it's ridiculous that return yards don't mean shit in standard fantasy leagues. You should get credit for being a return man because it's a huge part of the game. However 1 point per 10 yards (a la rushing and receiving) would be too much so 1 point per 25 is what makes the most sense, same as passing yards. It wouldn't make a huge difference but obviously return guys would get a small, deserved bump in value. The only downside I can see is that well then you have to do some independent thinking instead of just relying on ESPN/other rankings which don't incorporate this stat, but frankly you should be able to figure that out for yourself. I have had this stat in the BG league for the last 5 years and I honestly think in another 5 years all sites will be using it because it's stupid not to have it. That's my 2 cents - vote as you see fit!

Okay so who is getting credit for the return yards is it the Def/special teams or the actual return guy?

I believe it is already the case that both would get points for that, so that wouldn't be a change.

Okay so that TD would count Defense/ST and for the return man.

I just wana make sure before I vote that I understand it correctly.

I think I can be on board for this.

Yep I can confirm that a return TD already counts for both the player and D/ST so that would be unchanged. The only change would be that individual players would get credit for return yards (1 point per 25 yards). D/ST would still not get points for return yards.

How they determine projected scores is beyond me... I dont think I have been "favored" once yet this season.

He is, despite his drop off this season, a good back up to Gates, I just have stop trying to act like a smart arse and play my players who are on form. Thanks for the offer though.

By the way, as much as I love to give Torn as much shit as possible, just how in the hell is his team 1-6. A team of Charles, Ellington, Nelson and Sanders should not be 1-6. Is Torn this years Red Sox, from hero to zero in one year?

I think the answer can be found in the points against column of the table. He's comfortably midtable on points scored, but has had the most scored against him.

It's true .. your team is too good for that record. Mine has been pieced together with duct tape for the last few weeks and somehow I'm 5-2 with a good shot at 6-2 tonight.

Wait I found it. So Jamaal Charles was corrected to have a fumble lost and -6 yards. So I'm guessing it was fumbled on the handoff and they originally gave it to the QB

Yep, Alex Smith has one fewer fumble. After last Thursday's match I thought I had no chance of winning so to come back was ridiculous.

Always like playing Torn in fantasy, shame that'll (hopefully) be our only match-up this year.

Witten traded for Brees? What is this nonsense, Sinner? Brees going from a 2-6 team to a 7-1 team too, straight up for a backup TE. Yea I'm voting to veto this one. Not like in the sense of a commissioner veto just as a regular veto vote. This seems pretty filthy to me.

However I am open to hearing others' thoughts.

I'm not a fan of vetoing trades, but I can't see what Sinner's reasoning could possibly be for this. At least with the Bennett/Garcon trade you could see he was trying to get receiver help, but this gives him 3 tight-ends with no clear-cut starter. Surely he could have got top tier help if he wanted to out Brees.

Kinda figured it would be vetoed but I didn't offer him the trade so I would be nuts to refuse. Not that this matters in the slightest but Witten isn't a back up tight end, he's been played like one to be fair.

My two losses have basically come about due to in game injuries, hurray.

I meant that he's your backup tight end. Not that that necessarily means anything since you could have 2 sick tight ends but he's a low end fantasy starter at best this year.

but yea I think we need 1 more vote to veto

btw fucking Phillip Rivers put up -2.2 points this week, that prick

Just to be clear before you read this, if roles where reversed I would have vetoed the trade as well, I just think this is funny with all things considered.

    Matthew Berry ESPN

I hate it when you veto a trade

I've written about this before but it's among the subjects I feel the most passionate about. No trade should ever be vetoed; only in cases when there is clear and provable collusion between two owners should a trade be overturned. Otherwise, a trade must stand. Always. No matter what.

Part of the fun of fantasy football is that we all have different opinions on players. And no one can predict the future. A Week 1 deal of Calvin Johnson for Jeremy Maclin would have been laughed at, but in Week 10, the Maclin owner is loving life and the Calvin owner is hoping it's not too late to salvage something. So something that seems lopsided to you might not be lopsided in the future. Or seem lopsided to someone else.

It's not your job to manage someone else's team. Everyone should be allowed to manage their own team, even if it's badly. You don't think he got nearly enough for his star quarterback? So what? Not your team, not your quarterback. Again: The person dealing him thought he got a good deal, that's all that matters. Everyone should be allowed to manage their own teams however they see fit. Even if it's not in a way you agree with.

The art of negotiation is a skill. It's part of fantasy football, just like drafting, waiver wire pickups, making starting lineup decisions. It's a skill and part of what you need to be a successful owner. And it should be rewarded, not punished or neutralized.

There's a special level of hell reserved for the people who veto just because it's a deal that didn't involve them or because "it's part of their strategy." That's not strategy, it's being a jerk. Win on the virtual field, not in some technocratic loophole.
Keep this advice in mind as you try to make your roster whole for Week 10, try to put together a team for the stretch run and as we approach the deadline. Because if you don't do any of those 10 things, you and I can be trade partners.

So I'm upfront, I've offered Sinner a trade, don't know what you guys want to do with this as a league on the whole. For example, should any of us be trading with a guy who clearly want's to cleanse his team and is out of the running or is everything fair game?

You know I saw that article and I would love to ask Matthew Berry if he would approve of our particular trade, Brees straight up for Witten, with Brees going from a last place team to a first place. I wonder what he would say. To me collusion doesn't need to be clear and proven. There could be no collusion and someone could just trade Brees for Danny Amendola. He still wouldn't protest? It's hard to prove collusion, it's easy to judge that a trade is grossly unbalanced.

As for your question, I personally will judge each trade on its own merit. If a trade with Sinner is balanced then I won't veto. However his clearance sale line is troubling.

Cam Newton sucks. As of right now this will be 2 straight weeks for me getting negative points from my QB (last week being Rivers). I'll win this week anyway but still. But Newton will probably dig himself out of the hole if he's not benched after his latest (4th) turnover. Probably should be benched though.

I'm at 133 points and going to lose. What sucks even more is I left 2 guys on the bench who scored and played 2'guys in their spot who didn't... Come on Philly D!

That's rough to lose like that. And yea I just saw you picked up Bush and started him. I bailed on him this year even though he's in my team name lol. Disappointing season for him fantasy wise.

My running back situation has been a mess. Didn't draft one till late and then Knowshon and Ridley both went out for the year. Throwing darts recently.

I feel ya but Bush over Gore and Welker over Boldin seem like pretty suspect moves. The two you benched are much better scorers this year and have been on rolls lately while the two you started have sucked pretty much. It'll always happen that your bench guys will light it up its unavoidable but in this case you kinda made some headscratcher moves. Maybe overthought it.

Sorry lol I'm just bored and looking at your roster.

Edit: actually Gore has sucked lately before yesterday too .

Yeah the thing that pissed me off is the last two weeks the 49ers had the first and goal inside the 5 twice and Gore didn't touch the ball once on any of the the plays and they didn't score TDs.

Welker over Boldin was me thinking I needed a big week and Manning to Welker is points for me all around.

I think after that last sack I am a strip sack for a TD away from the lead.

I try never to think about how one player or defense affects another. Welker being on Manning's team doesn't affect who will score more between Welker and Boldin (for example). It's flawed logic. Look at them all in a vacuum, I say.

Even when players on your team contradict each other's points (i.e. defense facing your offensive players or RB and WR on the same team) it's still best not to factor that in and go with who you think will score highest plain and simple.

Hear ya but I do t think it was as clear as you are saying. Coming into the week Boldin had 2 TDs and Welker 1. And Welker missed the first 2 weeks. Manning was facing a cake walk against Oakland while the 49ers were in New Orleans.

True nuff but if you look at the start % and owned % you could surmise that you went against the grain in these cases. Which I respect- I think going off start % and rankings all the time is not wise and you gotta go with your gut at times. May have cost you here though.

Newton finally putting in work but it's shortened my lead lol since my opponent has Kelvin Benjamin. But as long as Benjamin doesn't get a third TD I'm good.

Welp, my season is over. Best I can do now is 7-6 and my point total is abysmal so I'm done. Best of luck to the contenders. Remember there's an $80 payout to the regular season champion.

My season comes down to Jimmy Grahm being a dude tonight. Need 16 points out of him for the win.

Looks like St. Chris, dubya and Dave have punched their tickets for the playoffs.
