    DRAFT TALK

We are currently scheduled for Tue, Aug 27 at 6:00 PM US Eastern Time, but I just brought up in the WhatsApp chat that perhaps we should push to the following week because of all these holdouts (Zeke, Gordon). The Monday prior to kick off is Labor Day in the US which means it's a holiday weekend, but we could do it Tuesday night (September 3rd). This would be 2 nights prior to the opener. I think with a 1 day waiver period that would allow for post-draft pick ups to occur by Thursday but I'm not 100%. Either way, I'm in favor of this (worst case with the waivers would be no one could pick up undrafted players from the Bears or Packers in week 1 which wouldn't matter too much). I think most people (Americans) would be home from holiday by Tuesday PM.

Thoughts??? I suppose our 3 options as I see them are:

Tuesday, September 3 at 6:00 PM ET
Wed, Aug 28 at 6:00 PM ET
Tue, Aug 27 at 6:00 PM ET

    The opener is Sept 5th.

The holdouts seems like a dumb reason to prolong it for an additional week. I drafted Bell last season good and well knowing that there was a risk. That's just my opinion, though.

Unless someone has a conflict, I plan to change it to Tuesday Sept 3. But I'll give it a few days to let people chime in. I know some people need to schedule time off to attend the draft so we should set it well in advance.

I don't see holdouts as being any reason to delay the draft. That said I'd prefer anyway for it to be as late as possible so I'm fine with 3rd September.

The 3rd is terrible for me. It's my wife's birthday. If we could do it the week before, that would be spectacular. It doesn't seem like many people mind, to be fair.

Okay. I propose we just go with Wednesday August 28th (pushing it back 1 day from the currently scheduled date).

I'm discounting Thursday the 29th because sometimes people take Friday off before the long weekend and could be traveling thursday evening.

I have changed the draft to Wed, Aug 28 at 6:00 PM U.S. Eastern time. The next few days is your last call for any objections to be voiced. I want to have it set so people can schedule around it and take time off from work if needed.

At this point since there have been no objections I think we should formally set/keep the draft for Wed, Aug 28 at 6:00 PM U.S. Eastern time (11PM London). So if you need to arrange your schedule you should do so. We are 3 weeks and 1 day away from the draft.

Man mock drafting on Yahoo is so much better than mock drafting on ESPN. I really like Yahoo's draft design now. But mainly they don't stupidly give 90 seconder per pick on a damn mock draft like ESPN does.

2 weeks until our draft. A reminder:

    2019 Rule Changes

-General tweaks to D/ST scoring including fewer negative scores
-Minimum waiver auction bid is now 0 instead of 1

    Draft order
    1. Torn

    Statement from the Commissioner

    For immediate release:

I am enacting a policy where I will use commissioner powers to push trades through early, prior to the completion of the standard 24 hour voting period, when the following criteria applies:

    1. The timing is such that the trade review window overlaps or approaches the next games being played and early approval would enable the traded players to compete on their new rosters immediately instead of waiting a week.
    2. Both trading parties formally consent to early approval by messaging the commissioner.
    3. The trade is deemed fair and just beyond debate.

Early approval is subject to commissioner discretion and availability and should not be assumed.

    Transaction Log
The trade of Travis Kelce and Larry Fitzgerald for Antonio Brown, Evan Engram and Michael Gallup has been approved by the Commissioner's Office in advance of today's games.

The trade between Chris Scott and Torn will be subject to the 24 hour trade review period as I have not received consent from both sides for early approval.

For this new trading rule, is there a delegate for when one of the two parties trading within that 24 hour window is also the commissioner?

I will say that I feel the trade was fair.

Chris was receiving the #6 RB in fantasy football right now in return for the #14 I believe it is, if that. Granted, the upside of Kamara is much greater than Jacobs, but Kamara is going to see a lot of boxes stacked against him and plays in a tougher defensive division. Kamara may see a slight drop-off, while Jacobs is proving to be a top-15 RB, if not higher.

I threw in Sanders because Chris wanted RB depth, he has none.

Ridley and AB are a wash, in our opinions, so honestly they didn't even need to be in the trade if needed, but Chris did like the thought of having AB.

Chris just like Wilson better... so that's that.

All-in-all, I think it really comes down to Sanders and Jacobs for Kamara, and I don't really see how that's any different than Westbrook (bench guy) and Lockett (#2 WR) for Keenan Allen, who is a top-10 WR every week, no matter the match-up.

Sanders and Jacobs for Kamara is a BULLSHIT trade. Come on!

(Assuming I am reading that right. I aint looked at it properly yet. )

I agree with the last paragraph but I thought that was a stupid trade too, not enough to Veto or anything.

exactly. and that's why it feels slightly exploitative, especially when it's a 2-0 team trying to take the highest drafted and best player off an 0-2 team. beyond that, youre also trying to take ridley off him for a dude that just had a second sexual assault accusation thrown at him. come the fuck on.

Isn't the point of a trade to better the value of your team? Who am I to decide if Chris Scott thinks it's fair or not? I'm just looking to improve my team the most I can. If you're not doing that, you may want to start.

It does make me laugh when people do this. Your justification is that you were trying to screw Chris Scott out of a top end player so that you can win the league.

You don't need any more justification than that. We all do it (Screw other players, not just Chris Scott...although...) Nobody would trade if they thought the trade was fair or not in their favour.

Citing heavily skewed rankings two weeks into the season does seem kinda flimsy when stating a case. Prime example: Roheem Mostert is ranked 13th, ahead of Kamara.

The counter argument to some degree is that there are bad GMs in real sports that get swindled quite often.

this is true, but as part of a small group of non-millionaires and/or billionaires, I'm less inclined to just let stupid shit slide when i've shelled out $50 for this. im not looking for a fun simulation of real life sports team ownership and managing when im playing fantasy football.

Cos I follow Dolphins bollocks. In my opinion I was getting depth at RB a better player in Brown and Wilson over Ridley and Mayfield.

I don't think the vetoed trade was THAT bad but I'm not surprised it got vetoed. In my eyes:

Mayfield for Wilson is a wash, slightly favoring Wilson.
Ridley for Brown is a wash, slightly favoring Ridley.

A trade of those 4 guys I'd say is even.

So to me this comes down to Kamara for Jacobs and Sanders. I think Kamara should get more of a return than that given that he's up there with Saquon, Zeke and CMC as one of the elite 4 RBs. Jacobs has been good, Sanders hasn't but is certainly still worth benching in case he starts balling out. It's not awful but you just don't give up a guy like Kamara in fantasy unless you're getting another stud or you're obsessed with having Seahawks on your team. And as someone already said, that would be fine in a free league but in a cash league there will be more scrutiny about keeping trades even. The fact that Chris Scott has become a habitual bad trader doesn't help his cause in cases that are borderline. Ultimately this is what the veto function is for and I'm happy I don't have to rule on these trades lol.

My 2 cents on the Keenan Allen for Lockett and Dede trade.... I would rather be on Torn's side but Allen was WR12 and Lockett was WR15 last year (using our league's scoring), a difference of 1.1 points per game, so I don't see it as being super uneven.

No matter what condition you make, it seems hard to suggest Ridley for Brown is a wash.

If Brown plays all 14 remaining games, I would call it a wash.

You're definitely taking a risk, but it's worth the reward.

I just don't see it as a wash based on either credible scenario.

If he plays the rest of the season, it's not out of bounds to suggest he's a top-10 WR.
If he doesn't, Ridley is absolutely present for nada in return.

If everyone plays and everything is great, I imagine there's still a gap of at least 10-15 players at the position between the two of them.

Ridley slightly better than AB ok @Fro. He’s a WR 2 and bad trading in what way mate. Please explain. It’s funny though I actually went to other groups I’m in for fantasy football and compared the trade not saying who I was getting. Most said my side was the best part, many saying Saints will be lost without Brees. Oh and I did say it’s a cash league by the way.

To be honest getting sick of it now

I’ll say what I said on the group.

Looking back then being honest you all should’ve vetoed my trade with Torn. Buch of bottlers

The bigger issue for me is still a player getting 2 of the top 4 players in the game after week 2.

Its a different situation this, usually vetoing is to stop someone being screwed over, in this instance you are that person but you are seemingly more for the trade than anyone.

The other problem is it screws everyone else over.

Kamara will be fine without Brees by the way. Thomas will possibly be the one seeing a slight downgrade.

Nah everyone will know all they’ll be doing is running now. I bet you he doesn’t get me more than 10 fantasy points in week 3

    I reckon he will.

Not betting real money though. I dont want the double whammy of losing money to you and my team being shit at the same time.

Bridgewater is a drop off from Brees (as anyone would be) but its not like Bridgewater is some rookie. He is a decent QB who should be able to pass the ball a bit.

Teddy is the highest paid back up QB for a reason. He's being groomed to take over from Brees anyway and would be a starter at a few teams already. Saints will be fine.
