Okay thanks for the heads up. So the first NFL game is Thursday Sept 8th. The 2 weekends preceding that are holiday weekends (first weekend in September is Labor Day weekend in the States, August 28th weekend is tea and crumpets day or whatever in the UK). As of now I don't have any Labor Day weekend plans and even if I go somewhere I could likely arrange to get back home by say 3 or 4PM Monday Sept 5th if we wanted to do it on Labor Day. I think we may have done that a few years ago. Otherwise we are looking at Sunday August 21st which is on the early side since it's during week 2 of the preseason schedule.
If we open it up to weekdays obviously we have more days to choose from but I'm not sure we can pull it off with players in all parts of the world and work schedules.
I might struggle with the 5th. I'm in Amsterdam that day and may not be in a fit state to do a draft at 9pm

I'm not sure where everyone is located. I think Knee might be in the Minnesota area which is only 1 hour behind me so that would be 5PM his time. If we had anyone further west of that it might be too early on a work day.

Yo I'm back living in vancouver so 6pm is 3pm Thursday which means I'll be in the office... While doing a draft would be way more fun and probably more productive I don't know if management would approve

i'm hoping to take 10 days off at the end of august/beginning of september, and no plans to go away, so labor day would be fine. i'll get specific dates once i know for sure.

I think we did it early, around week 1 or 2 of preseason, probably due to the same scheduling conflicts we're talking through now.
I don't care for fantasy basketball. I played it a few seasons and it never got me invested. I also didn't join any fantasy baseball leagues this year for the first time in a long time. I can't do the daily lineups anymore, it's too much.

Last year we did it pretty early - I remember finding out about Jordy Nelson's injury while I was in New York shortly after I'd drafted him, and that was Week 2 of the preseason.

Okay well I don't yet know for sure that it'll work for everyone else since it's a holiday here. But if it's the case that it works for everyone else, thanks for being flexible. I'm personally fine with August 21st, the injury risk stinks but that's life. If we do it on the 21st, that would be after preseason week 2 concluded so it would just be preseason week 3 to worry about (since most starters rest the final preseason game). Plus practice injuries I suppose.

Another idea for draft time: What if we do it on Friday night, Sept 2nd? This is the Friday beginning Labor Day weekend in the states. Let's say we did it at 12:30AM UK time, 7:30 PM US Eastern time, 4:30 Vancouver time. UK folks would need to stay up a little late and maybe not get too drunk that night and do it before bed. US folks could do it before leaving for the long weekend if they're going somewhere. And Myles possibly could leave work a little early on a Friday which people are known to do.
Thoughts? We could also do the same thing the previous Friday, August 26th.

Yeah go with August 26th just because it's a week early and I want to get my team done.
Uhhh... Later is always better to avoid pre-season injuries, that's why we've been talking all this out trying to come up with the latest possible date we can all make it work. So Sept 2nd is definitely preferable all things being equal. Are you good with the 2nd? That would be 6 days before the opener so plenty of time to set your roster/lineup and whatnot.
August 26th isn't doable for me (it's Reading Festival weekend), but 2nd September should be good.

Scared to ask but does anyone have a conflict with August 21st? If not, I think that's our date. If so, we're gonna need to pick a later date and someone will be unhappy. Or actually Saturday August 20th would be an alternative. I wouldn't wanna go earlier than then.

In terms of draft time, I proposed 5PM US eastern which would be 10PM London and 2PM US/Canada West Coast. How do people feel about that? I would think we wouldn't want to go later than that for our Euro folks, but we could slide it earlier if preferable.
