In those two hours I might have come up with a story arc, characters, full town, scum and neutral list and even a story introduction.

Question is when. Venari has classically been a smaller game but I don't know what Rip has planned (apart from fucking with brains, there will be definite fucking with brains) in terms of size or even when. Then we have the question of interest. I've come up with 20 roles, and while I can do less (or more) I wouldn't want to start the ball rolling unless there was interest from you guys to play so soon after we've finished the last game.

The roles I have lined up include some we've never had here before, and, two of them especially, I cannot wait to try out.

I just had a recollection of making one of those super complicated where I had 3 vanilla neutrals who could be made General Manager by Vince.......
...except I think I had Steve Austin have a vote phase role where he could come out and try and stunner Vince... and I think he either hit him first phase or second... sort of giving the middle finger to the game..

Further to this, I think I'd like to run a game after the MK and Venari are done. I'd probably do it with a mentor/co-runner/consultant to make sure I don't go full bullshit but I'd do the actual work of running the game. It'd probably be Psycho because I've already told him some of my plans already.

I'd like to run a game at some point in 2019. Probably not anytime soon (Spring at the earliest). I don't have a theme in mind yet. Maybe Breaking Bad but I struggle with what Walter White's win condition would be.

I disagree with how @JP and @Psycho666Soldier are structuring the day/night phases. The things that happen in the night phase are being posted as "Day X". I always think of it as the day phase is when lynches happen and the night phase is when action roles happen. Like if someone has an odd night role that should show up in a Night 1 write up, not a Day 2 write up. It gets confusing when determining who has ON/EN roles.
Doesn't really matter just pointing it out.
The odd night even night thing confused the life out of me and made me think there was a JOAT as well as Alex who was an EN/ON inventor.
Only reason I post it that way is because that's how Mr Nobody did it when he first brought mafia here(or brought it back? Whatever it was). I was thinking throughout this game that going forward I'll probably do it so the night phase write-up has "Night X" instead of "Day X". Only real reason I think it's done is because the night write-up is the introduction for the next day phase.

Mafia Universe. They hold a yearly tournament. Made it to the finals with one of my blinder scum games. Downside is as a finalist, I get the unenviable honor of being a judge this year.
I think Mr Nobody would probably beat me out since he brought the mafia phenomenon here and seemed to play for some time before that. Other than him, though, I think Grim and I are the only ones who have played outside these forums.

I have only tried playing outside here a few times and that was way back. We do things so differently here... the role claiming and bread crumbing stuff is part of the game elsewhere. Day 1 is pretty much everyone openly claiming to be one of the roles and the huge amount of D1 generated discussion is between players who have claimed to be the same role.

Yeah, MU is kind of the same way. They seem a little bit better in the sense that they mostly don't claim until they absolutely have to, since you still don't want to out power roles, but they also don't have night write-ups, so the entire culture is different. I played on a couple other forums, and I think it's fun to see what different places consider standard. But ultimately, the Rajah style is where I feel most at home: No roleclaiming, little to no breadcrumbing, write-ups catering to spreadsheets. The only thing I've seen in other forums that I like is a hammer vote not being a necessity, but I can understand reasons for it being prominent here.
But I'm gonna make you fuckers play a game without mandatory hammers. Just you wait.

With everyone role claiming I agree it would be a clusterfuck. I mean if you’re scum and you fake role claim then the person who is actually that role would know you’re scum, So then roleclaiming would favor town heavily right?
Vanilla scum claims cop. Real cop counter claims. Town then Lynch the cop. Sure that scum dies day 2 but his teammates can back the real cop getting cover for later and they still killed the cop on day 1. I could see how scum could get an advantage even if it's small.
No role claiming in games with a jester though. Too easy of a win.

The way I was originally going to change the rules in South Park: Most votes get lynched with or without a hammer. The hammer would only be there to bind a lynch and end it early.
Good scum player vs someone everyone thinks of as a bad player. It would be a gamble.
Or the scum role blocker knows who to sit on all game.

I tried to do this here twice. Two small games in which breadcrumbing and roleclaiming were both completely open.
One of the reasons why it's taken me SIX FUCKING YEARS to follow up Street Fighter with Mortal Kombat is just how clusterfuckery both of those games were. Honestly, they stung with how badly they fell down.
I play mafia outside of these boards, Salem mostly. It's an entirely different game to the one we play. The "normal" version is so much more in tune with how I naturally play the game. It is pure bluster and bullshit, and if anyone needed a reminder that is my game all they need to do is look at South Park. The version we play here is much more a logic and detective game. I enjoy our style more, despite it playing against my strengths.

I am rusty, but what is the proper non-town to town percentage? I remember it being somewhere in the area of 33% but couldn’t remember if that was right.

Depends on the size of the game and the distribution of power roles. Generally 25-33%.
