Handsome fashion man. Whatever it is, it works for me. Part of it might be with a lot of bland-ass no character dudes floating around, a guy like Jiro simply stands out and grabs my attention. He's got something which is more than a lot of dudes who are essentially good wrestlers and that's about it.

He's the only guy on 205 Live with anything resembling a personality.

Matt Cardona beat Nick Gage and is the new GCW champion, with the help of a bunch of interference. Then he was pelted with every drink imaginable by the crowd.

Mark Sterling will be addressing the GCW Universw at Homecoming Night 2 tonight. Fuck Yeah. I hope he makes it so that Cardona only works “Cardona rules” matches where it’s no deathmatch stuff.

The heart, the respect, the desire, I just think this proves that Vince missed out on a huge opportunity 10 years ago or so when Ryder was climbing up the ranks. He was Cena's Brutus Beefcake. They had a few moments, but they were short-lived.

It just goes to show once again that once these guys get out of the WWE umbrella they show they can be the #1 guy in WWE. The same thing happened with Christian Cage. He left WWE, went to TNA, headlined countless ppvs, multiple World championships, and then he comes back and it's pretty much back to the same thing. Remember when he went to ROH for a couple matches? He put on matches that rivaled the TLC matches both in quality and impact on the business.

I just think this shows that the future of pro wrestling, to get to that level they once were 20 years ago, we need to look at what's going on elsewhere and not worry about WWE. GCW already showed with the right direction, Zack Ryder can be a John Cena, Austin, Rock type.

Just read that. Right before a meet and greet he was due to appear on after Raw. Especially shitty timing.

Yeah, but it's really a vip/ramble hybrid now. Talk about wrestling or shoot the shit.

That’s basically what it was way back when. Don’t know why they ever changed it.

I’m good. Took a long break from this place. Not even sure why I came back tbh.

Pretty sure mitch hated the idea of "superthreads" so used his mod powers to get rid of this one and the one in the asylum.

Yeah and that led to vice quitting and now Mitch, gbf, Simon, rosk, etc are all fucking gone anyway. Now the whole forum is just like 30 Americans, some Canadians, and like a handful of Brits.

I think we’ve successfully gotten rid of all the Australians too.

Funnily enough the chat threads had the most traffic which is what pissed off the main asylum twats as their threads got bumped down.

Used to love this thread. Had good discussion in it daily. Hero, virm, atty, vice, cewsh, myself and a few others were regularly talking wrestling, sports, and whatever else.
Then they had to be bitches.
What happened that all those people left?

I think building the foundation of the Major Pod helped a lot. He and Meyers basically started a whole company of their own, have their fans, run live shows, sell toys and merch, and they could probably live solely off the podcast. Cardona had actually not signed again with WWE and was waiting for his contract to expire when he was let go.

Myers had just signed a new five-year deal since his wife was pregnant with child #2 and he needed that security of the WWE contract.

I mean who knows, maybe in hindsight you were right about Ryder being a coward....Depends on the lens you want to look at it. For me I've never looked at it that way because he's always talked about WWE being his dream job. So is he a coward, or a lying piece of shit?

I think the first episode they did was here in Des Moines. I met them at Jay's CD and Hobby with Heath Slater. We didn't even know they were going to be there, if I remember, it was before a Raw/Smackdown event. They weren't just interested in wrestlers either but I remember one of them joking about how Jay's had this old Chyna-Triple 2 pack and I said something about those figures being there probably since Jay's opened 20 years ago lol. Nobody wants them.

I wanna say they recorded their first ever podcast summer slam weekend 2018, which is hilarious because I went to the Prichard liveshow right before summer slam that year and Cardona & Myers randomly popped into that show to sing "with my baby tonight".

Life. I was gone for 4 years, moved out of my parents house, got a decent job, got married and now my wife is pregnant. I check in with Vice like once a year but he's not very chatty. Atty will still chime in here every now and then. BBF left and I think had his account deleted. Torn is probably on those whatsapp chats and I bet Mikey Jones is too.

How long have you been gone?

This show actually had nothing to do with their podcast. WWE also didn't help them with any costs of this, so, they were just eating the cost of everything themselves anyway....so why not start a podcast that you own and can sell your own merchandise for?

    Business savvy motherfuckers, those two.

Hawkins/Myers is having a solid IMPACT run right now too. Not to mention 7 or 8 of his students are all signed to AEW.

Ah ok I had no idea they had multiple shows I thought it was all the same.

So was this a WWE show or was this something they decided to do on their own? If it wasn't a WWE show I can see why they didn't help them with it.

This was a WWE show that aired on YouTube and the Network, but WWE wouldn't pay for anything.

They started the podcast on their own, using Pat Buck's old equipment (which was originally Cabana's equipment) and brought in one of Myers' students to edit (Mark sterling).

Now they've got like 8 different people working for them doing video editing, creating other pods, designing shirts and merchandise, doing their social media, etc. It's kind of insane what they've managed to get out of a freaking toy podcast, but that's why I respect the shit out of both of them for branching out and doing things on their own.

They've starting putting on actual wrestling shows under their "FWF" brand too, so I expect to see more of those shows popping around the indie circuit.

Not sure how long I was gone for. Think it’s been 6 or 7 months. Checked in after mitb and then popped on yesterday and saw this thread was active.

BBF isn’t around much, but his account is still active. Mikey Jones is a silent kid, always watching.

Torn is in at least one WhatsApp chat with me, pretty active in it (fantasy football).

All three seem to be doing well.

    I don't know man.

It's like we're trying to fix last year's bad joke with another.

Like choking on a stale Frito, and then trying to eat another to knock the first one lose.

At some point, we're going to have to stop eating stale Fritos

Regardless of what it is affiliated with the word discord sounds much better than whatsapp but if beebs is still a member here he earned it for the year. If he had his account deleted I say we hold some sort of forum wide contest to rename it.

I was going to see if we get a corporate sponsorship.

We'll put that money towards prize money in contests.

We'll have Joe's Discount Tire Presents: The Asylum.

And then whoever wins Royal Rumble GOD or Wilfred will ALSO get 10 dollars

You just reminded me of this skit. You're welcome.

Getting fired from SNL was the best thing to happen to Shane Gillis. His Trump speed-dating skit is hilarious.

In regards to renaming, BBF is still here though. He posted in the NFL betting thread. I don't know why he won't come play mafia.

He won the first ever game. He's had to defend his perch longer than the rest of us. It makes him world weary.

    This is also true.

Honestly, that was mostly about me wanting to remind Badger that he's lost twice in a row. And twice its lined up with mafia games. Basically, I claim running a game during Wrestlemania every year, just so I can keep this tradition going.

How is Vince in his 70's still the most savage promoter in wrestling history? Telling people in the conference call that he doesn't view AEW as a threat like they did 25 years ago with WCW (for obvious reasons) but then said maybe he could send them some more of his talent..........DAAAAAMN.

Obviously the conspiracy theorist in me read that way too deep as I started wondering hmmm, what if Triple H showed up on Dynamite? Someone on a Cornette FB group shared a pic of TK and Titus O'Neil together awhile back when Tony got the Jags for his 30th bday. What if Titus shows up??? I get what Vince meant but there was still a little part of me thinking hmm, maybe WWE are so comfortable in their brand that even doing a little something with AEW wouldn't hurt.

Just give AEW what they want. They want Roman to acknowledge them. And maybe they could acknowledge Roman as their tribal chief.

Well WWE has been on top for so long that they probably don't see AEW as a competitor yet. I mean despite being in their worst ever run in terms of ratings or fanfare they continue to make record profits.

They probably aren't worried at all but in terms of getting the best out of themselves I think they really need AEW to become a legit contender. I think that drives Vince to do his best stuff. I mean who knows how long Vince is going to be hanging around as the main man but maybes we can get one more run of Vince hitting his creative best yet if pushed into it.

The problem is that I think Vince finally reached his goal and that was not so much being the top wrestling promotion in the world, but to transcend into simply ENTERTAINMENT. Just like he wants some of his wrestlers to transcend into other aspects of pop culture. The Rock for example, that seems like something Vince McMahon could sit back and legit say "I helped create that" Just like he can look back and go wow, I was the only promoter to truly transcend the wrestling business and be not just a fad but a staple of pop culture. The majority of the planet associates pro wrestling with WWE and I think that as Vince's goal.

Here's how you know they don't really care about AEW---Who have they signed from AEW? Can anyone think of a single wrestler that was ever worked for AEW that's now in the WWE? You don't see WWE altering their product to fit whatever AEW's style might be. You can point to them putting NXT on Wednesdays and I would definitely agree that was an attempt to let AEW and specifically Tony Khan and his family that you might have a bottomless pit for a bank account, but this is still WWE's territory.

WWE acknowledges their existence but it's no different than how they viewed TNA. They straight up said they're not in competition with TNA, they're in competition with U2 and Disney. They're trying to break records not try to get the most 5 stars from Meltzer on a ppv. I'm not saying that's the best approach because the rematch after rematch approach is why I tend to enjoy NXT and Dynamite more than Raw and Smackdown from a wrestling perspective. Sometimes you just have to sit through too much bullshit for 2-3 big payoffs with a WWE storyline but those payoffs are pretty fuckin good.

Knock it off. She would fit right in. Don't even start with the botching because that's exactly why she would fit in. Replace that Wish.com Nia Jax with the real one-same matches, better promos, BETTER LOOKING (Nia Jax has it all mmmmmmmmmm), and all the horrific botches and stiff attacks we've come to know and love.

Nyla Rose has the physical dexterity to do that flying guillotine knee and not kill herself, her opponent, the ref, or half the people in the front row.

I'd like to see Nia "My Hole!" Jax manage that.

Nia Jax moves faster at least. Nyla is slow as hell. She needs to go to the factory and work on her cardio.

Nia Jax moves with all the speed and dexterity of two tectonic plates sliding passed each other.

Decided to stop being a cheap fucker and pay the $10 a month to get rid of ads on the Peacock Sucker Network.

Watching Great American Bash 1996 right now. Its a pretty solid show so far.

    - Steiners vs. Fire And Ice is a pretty good smash mouth tag-team match. Steiners throw their opponents around like sacks of big, muscly potatoes (spuds?). Ice Train, the Big E of mid-90's WCW, seemed game to work with the Bros. But Scott Norton looks like he goes off script a few times and just sandbags them a couple times and refuses to sell a series of worked Rick Steiner kicks to the dome, before Rick forces him to sell with a kick to the chest. The finish goes all kinds of wonky, with Steiner botching the ever living fuck out of a Frankensteiner on Norton.

    - El Gato (Pat Tanaka as a luchador) vs. Konan is next. Pre-gangster, pre-NWO Konan is weird. I've never liked Konan's work. I've always had him pegged as a real lazy ass who just kind of meanders through his matches until he can get "his shit" in. El Gato gets a few decent spots, but its basically a showcase for K-Doggy-Dogg. He hits a sunset flip powerbomb and then an Alabama Slam for the win. Meh?

    - Diamond Dallas Page defends his Battle Bowl Ring against Marcus "Buff" Bagwell. This was a Hell of a little match. Buff was always a great heel, because he's just so naturally unlikable. But here he was a fine blue chipper babyface. Page was a good, old-school "bump and feed" heel and sold like a discount Mr. Perfect. Page wins the whole deal with a stiff punch to the gut to counter a Fisherman Suplex and a Diamond Cutter. Pretty good.

    - Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Dean Malenko is one of the highlights of the whole damn show. Deano takes Rey's arm apart, but Rey still gets all of his flippy-dippy shit in. Even though its 2021, Rey's flying stuff still looks top of the line. Dean wins it with a powerbomb out of the corner and his feet on the ropes.

    - Ray Traylor vs. John Tenta is exactly as good or as bad as you'd think it is. Big props to Tenta for catching a flying Ray Traylor coming off the top and planting him with a powerslam for the win. That looked about as good as it possibly could have, considering who was involved. Everything else was basically just big-man shit. Same old, same old.

    - Chris Benoit vs. Kevin Sullivan was next. Its their classic Falls Count Anywhere match. Props to these two dudes. If they had this match in modern times, they'd have a bunch of phony looking "hardcore" bullshit with thumbtacks, barbed wire, and Leprechauns or some shit. This was just two dudes having a fight that brought them from the ring, to the bathrooms, to the ring, and then to a cool finish.

    - Apropos of nothing, but didn't Sullivan and Benoit fight in the women's room in this match too? Was that edited off the 'Cock?

    - I'm on Sting/Regal now for the TV Title. Pretty good shit so far. Sting is obviously way higher on the pecking order than Regal, but Regal's grinding Stinger into a fine paste.

    - Regal gets a load of heat on Sting, Sting pops a comeback and wins by submission with the Scorpion Deathlock after a series of punches and a backdrop. Good enough work, but an abrupt finish.

    - Out shit, its the Football dude match. Flair and Anderson vs. McMichaels and Kevin Greene. And Bobby Heenan's out to manage Flair and Arn. Fuck. That's cool.

    - Regal gets a load of heat on Sting, Sting pops a comeback and wins by submission with the Scorpion Deathlock after a series of punches and a backdrop. Good enough work, but an abrupt finish.

    - Are Flair's green tights and yellow boots supposed to be Green Bay Packers inspired?

    - Heh, Mongo fucks over his Football buddy and blasts him with a Haliburton full of cash. Flair pins. Good match. Flair and Arn dragged the Football Bros kicking and screaming through a presentable match with two good heat segments. Big balls on Flair and Arn to try to get a double heat segment out of a non-wrestler and a barely-a-wrestler. But they pulled it off.

    - Eric Bischoff out to interview "Not Diesel" and "Not Razor Ramon". Nash shows his questionable grammar skills and then powerbombs poor Sleazy E through the stage.

    - Luger/Giant with Giant defending his World Title is last and .... ... wake me when its over.

Luger/Giant is a pale imitation of Luger's matches with Yokozuna. Except Giant isn't as good of a worker as Yoko. Luger is forced to be the explosive, energetic babyface against The Giant. But Giant can't feed, bump, or teeter-totter like Yoko, so it just doesn't work as well.

Lex gets a good comeback at the end, The Giant misses a splash in the corner, Lex gets him up for the Rack, but Giant squishes him and hits the Chokeslam for the clean pin. Pretty solid match, actually. All joking aside.

I remember going to my friend's house after this ppv aired and one of his buddy's ruining the powerbomb spot. He goes "All I'm going to say is see ya Bischoff" and he did a powerbomb motion. My friend was like dude, you just ruined his favorite wrestler powerbombing Bischoff. So technically they're both guilty.

They were the type of friends to say "Hey we just went and saw a movie and man (proceeds to tell you the ending)" They ruined Halloween Havoc 1995 for me in the sense that they called me and were like "DUDE, The Giant is dead!" talking about him "falling off" the building.

My sister is like that. “Have you seen sixth sense? I won’t spoil it but the kid sees ghosts, so it’s obvious that Bruce Willis was a ghost the whole movie. You should check it out”

Now that I think of it, all my friends do this. My best friend is one of those people who has to know how a movie ends before he even sees it. He loves reading spoilers for movies, wrestling, etc. He'll be the type to tell me something huge happened in a movie but "you could probably tell by the previews" lol. Or he'll be like "Eh just tell me how it ends IDC" so he just assumes everyone else is like him lol.

It's to the point now where after 30+ years of friendship I can sense when he's about to ruin something pertaining to a match or a show so I can pivot into a different conversation but keep the same subject matter lol. Last night he finally watched Smackdown and he kept texting me while he was watching it "So is John Cena going to beat Roman at Summerslam?" and I'm like dude, I have no zero idea and I'm sure Cena/Roman won't know until the day of the ppv knowing Vince lol.

What's funny about this story is that I actually do this to certain people who ask me questions through the whole movie. Best friend I mentioned above is guilty of this, asking me shit through a movie I've never even seen! Or if it's a movie I've seen he wants to know everything so I'll just go, 5 minutes into "Do you want me to just ruin it for you?" He'll say "Yeah go ahead" lol. So now we have to watch a movie you already know the ending so you're asking me all these questions that will be answered in the movie---but you already know the ending so you're impatient.

Or my ex-gf, she'd be the one I'd have to say "Pay attention to the cups of water" because she'll be the type at the very end to be totally confused with the significance and why they tied it in at the night. Any movie that has an open to the audience's interpretation ending pretty much meant I'd be spending time I should've been having sex explaining what I thought happened in Vanilla Sky. Like I fucking knew lol.

My wife watches movies by playing FarmVille for 80% of it and then spending the other 20% of the time asking what’s happening.

we’ve watched 9 Star Wars moves together and she still has no idea what Star Wars is about or who anyone is.

I was raised by a mother who did this so I was groomed to adhere to people needing to know what's going on before, during, and after the movie. The worst is at a theater.

And on one hand, I can relate because I hate endings like that-especially when the director or whoever says it. At least with some movies you'll have a director say "This is what we wanted to convey but we get that people take it a different way" Kind of like songs that you THINK are about a girl, but then you find out it's actually a political metaphor.

On the other, sometimes movies just can't be explained lol.

I’ve now listened to Tommy End on Talk is Jericho and Oral Sessions and I don’t think there is a human being alive who can talk about himself as much as Tommy End. Holy shit. Jericho basically just gives up halfway through and just keeps saying “ok..mhmm…ok” in between Tommy’s never-ending thoughts.

If you've listened to Teddy Hart on TIJ (in general) who is worse, him or Tommy?
