Bully ray has gotten lean and tone. He looks to be in the best shape of his life. I wouldn't mind to see him go to impact and have another run.

Can you make Roman Reigns v. Jeff Hardy work? Jeff seems to really want that match and I understand why-who wouldn't want that match? As a fan of Jeff, I would want to see it and I think they could make it work. I just don't know WHEN. Would you put Roman v. Jeff on the upcoming Day One card? Could you transition a match with Jeff Hardy into a feud with Brock Lesnar?

For a while now I’ve had “The Steve Austin Show” in my collection of podcasts, finally got around to listening. I started with the Lance Storm episode then hopped to Shawn Michaels, two very fascinating interviews. I love listening to pros talk about their craft, particularly the more minute details that don’t often get discussed.

Austin, as one might expect, is a little rough around the edges and sometimes overpowers the guest; that is completely understandable, given he’s always been interviewed rather than the interviewer.

I would definitely recommend, am looking forward to knocking off some more; I think Taz/Daniel Bryan/Trish Stratus are next on my list, unsure of the order.

Do you think knowing the ins and outs of everything, this is why wrestling just isn't good? Like shit, they are listing producers of segments on the main page, like who really cares about that? I'd be ok if they brought the AOL Chatrooms back, but man knowing when contracts ends, talk about ratings, producers, tweets, it just brings the enjoyment of the product down.

People have talked about this stuff since the 90s. If you're on a message board, it's gonna happen.

I think that has no real effect on the quality of the product itself. It's a matter of how it affects your personal enjoyment.

Yeah, speak for yourself. Much like knowing about the production/behind the scenes stuff from other forms of entertainment, for some folks it makes them enjoy it more.

I'll say I am generally a bit less interested in hearing signing/appearance rumors because more times than not, the surprise is that much better without the hype. But I do like peeking behind the curtain, and when there's a segment or match you really love, it's cool to know who all was responsible behind that.

Not everyone feels the same way, but I personally enjoy knowing the magician's tricks. It can sacrifice enjoyment in some ways, but enhance it in others that balances out for me.

I don't mind knowing who produced what if I'm interested in the match itself. If I'm not interested I don't click on it. I keeps it real, yo.

One day the only place you'll be able to see pro wrestling is in Vegas where they make mockery out of it like everything else that used to require suspension of belief.

Like Cornette said, pro wrestling is neither fish nor foul. You can't relate it to movies and you can't relate it to real life it's somewhere in purgatory.

I'm not a pro AEW guy but I would say as soon as Matt Hardy gets the AEW title Vince might think it's a good idea. But hey, they made Roman vs Sami zayn work. So I guess a #1 contenders match of some sort where Brock costs Roman the match kind of like how hurricane was feuding with the rock even though he was focused on Austin at mania.

I thought it was during the house show match? This is the video tied to the story of Jeff being sent home. The person who posted it also noted someone that was sitting to next to him smelled booze on Jeff. How? Who knows. There's another video of Jeff posing with fans in the crowd so who knows. Obviously some will assume the worst but who knows. By now we would've heard something for sure if it was drug related, he has no more get out of jail free cards.

Cue the "Does this mean he's coming back?" speculation/"news" rather than folks realizing this was likely already too far along in production to be cancelled so they might as well sell it.

But what if he IS coming back.........??? I'll never forget the night Matt Hardy returned back in 2005-2006. My back was turned to the tv and within seconds I was getting a phone call that my "favorite wrestler had returned" This was literally the day after reading Matt was going to be debuting at the TNA ppv the previous Sunday.

    Never say never Daniel Bryan!

Didn't they have new merch for some of the recent releases after their release? This isn't new. I want to say it was for Braun.

Yeah, it was Braun. It's happened other times, as well. If stuff's already far enough along in the pipeline, they're going to put it out. No sense in throwing it in a dumpster if they can still make a few bucks.

In the upcoming Elite 92 wave, Cole, Bray, and Scarlet have figures coming out. These are prepared way in advance, so it's not uncommon for released talent to have merch available.

AEW needs to sell merch other than t-shirts so it's understandable.

I enjoy Pat's show, and often have it on in the background while I work. FanDuel is giving him a ridiculous amount of cash to be the exclusive place his show bets on. His announcement video was terrific - and emotional. I loved how he gave huge hunks of cash to all his staff, and to his parents, as well as to several charitable groups that he has been involved with.

    Agree 100%.

That is what you hope happens when people become wealthy, they decide to give back financially to some of the multitude of worthy causes out there. I lost track of how much he gave away, it was definitely north of $5M but probably closer to $8M.

    Kudos to Pat.

The Brock Lesnar episode of “The Steve Austin Show” podcast was such a fascinating listen. I don’t think Brock has ever been that candid and relaxed during an interview, which is probably because of the respect he holds for Steve. I would highly recommend.

I thought the same thing when they showed a clip of him as a job guy back in the day and he had hair.

Yeah, he did some non-WWE photoshoot around the time he was released where he was in a suit and had hair and I was like, damn, dude looks good. It was a much better vibe for him than the apocalyptic gladiator bullshit gimmick.

    Found it:

See, that looks like money to me. Not the FALL AND PRAY stuff.

    Things meaning different things in the US to the UK often makes watching American wrestling in the UK seem very different and quite homosexual. Anyone ever thought that? Some recent examples I've come across;

'I chewed his ass out'. Said by Arn Anderson and 'Taker on Austin's podcast.

'I want a piece of Mike Tyson's ass'.

    'He blew me off'.

    'I pounded that ass'

I'm sure there are loads more.

The word 'fanny' too is quite amusing to me still

    Just an ongoing observation.

Doesn't just apply to wrestling, obviously.

Some of those sound pretty gay this side of the pond, as well. I watched a whole Youtube video compilation the other day of double entendres like that.

No. Just in a lot of these cases, it's clear that homosexual vibes was not the intention. Austin/Tyson, for example.

Not just wrestling, but for a lot of sports, with how macho they are perceived to be, there is a lot of gayness to it all. Nothing wrong with that. We just enjoy big sweaty men beat each other up.

I think you're missing my point here, Nash.

Are you saying that Austin maybe wanted to have sex with Tyson? That's what was meant and implied here?

Seriously, Nash, you could start an argument in an empty house.

You reminded me that people my age are still hung up on being closet homosexuals and using wrestling as a way to hide it. It's cool man. You want to think about another man's dick in your mouth/butt/etc. that's cool man I'm not a prude. Just don't hide behind wrestling. UK wrestling is without a shadow of a doubt the most homoerotic wrestling I've ever watched. You prance around, holding each other's wrists, barely wear anything but little tiny undies and shoes. Adrian Street is your guy. And I love it. But I don't really sit around thinking about how gay something looks/sounds. I've seen some shit in my life that made me extremely comfortable with my sexuality.

I want Sycho Sid back on my WWE TV. And I don't mean 2022 60 year old Sid. I want 1995/1996 Sid. Imagine the pop he'd get during the Royal Rumble. Fist bumping fans on the way to the ring. Make it happen time machine builders.

Sid's entrance at MSG at Survivor Series '96 was epic. Big match, big show, big opportunity. And I think the positive crowd response was unexpected for Sid. There was a real intensity about him here, even more so than usual.

As a 13 year-old, this was the first time I'd heard a crowd boo the babyface. I mean technically they were both babies, with Sid being more of a tweener following this match, but Shawn was the top babyface in the company. Always loved a New York crowd after that, being the massive Bret mark that I was.

Watched the Royal Rumble 2003 show last night. Really quite enjoyed it.

Has there ever been a quicker fall from grace from a hot and anticipated run than Scott Steiner here? 2 months prior, re-debuted to a monster pop at MSG at Survivor Series. Then he was straight in to a feud over the World Heavyweight Title with HHH, including a posedown on Raw. From there, now I could be wrong, but his first match was at the Rumble against HHH. Certainly his first PPV match. My gosh, he was gassed minutes in. Didn't help that he was in there with HHH, who in 2003, was really rather sluggish. Anyway, match was bad. Fans slowly started to turn and then really did when Scotty pretty much fell over trying some kind of tiger suplex, I think it was. Match was just horrible. Oh, and towards the end when HHH was busted open, Flair was trying to get the referee to stop the match for blood loss to 'save his title' as JR called it. What the hell was that all about?

From there, he had the rematch with HHH at No Way Out in Canada, was again booed out of the building from memory and he was never on top again. All I can remember is the shit he did with Test and Stacey.

Angle and Benoit then had an absolute classic to follow that shambles at the Rumble. Match was just so great. Every near fall kick out was perfect. And the clean win for Angle was excellent for him leading in to his 'Mania main event with Brock.

The rumble match itself was really hot for the first quarter with the shocking Michaels and Jericho start and some really good exchanges, mostly involving Mysterio. Rest of the match was only ok, but decent enough.

I'm going to go through 2003 again, as I remember not being keen at the time. But outside of HHH stuff, I reckon there will be some good stuff in here. Speaking of HHH, 2003 was always going to be tough when he was feuding with Steiner, Nash and Goldberg, whilst struggling with injury himself, if I remember correctly.

The rest of the Royal Rumble 2003 was ok. Brock and Show had a fun little sprint to open the show and the Dudleys won the world tag titles from Regal and Storm in a fun little short match. Dawn Marie and Torrie was pretty bad, but at least it was short.

    No Way Out next.

I never liked Scott Steiner after he broke up with Rick. I just couldn't get into Big Poppa Pump and it was even worse when they made him World champion.

The problem here is that Scott came in injured. He could barely walk. And it was also still Triple H killing off top tier WCW talent. Scott had been hurt for years, that's why he changed up his style and that's why he also got worse in the ring as his push grew. Go watch Scott Steiner in 1995 and then 3 years later he can barely run the ropes.

Yeah, I loved Scott back in the day.

As to his run on top in WCW, I liked it because it was different and he'd definitely earned it. Brought a legitimacy to the table too. But yes, he was broken down and really broken down by the time he reached WWE.

I was far keener for him to be on top in WCW than Jeff Jarrett. Good lord they were dark days, that bled into TNA for years and years. Yawn.

    @Psycho666Soldier

Do you any interest in 75 days of crunchyroll premium? If you don't I'll open the offer to anyone else.

I also have codes for 30 days of Disney+ and 4 months of Spotify premium if anyone is interested.

I believe they only work if you've never done a trial before but can't say for sure.

    They're rewards from Xbox gamepass.

I already pay for Crunchyroll and would take it for some free months, but I'm pretty sure I did the free trial when I signed up so I technically can't.

I guess I could use another email, but eh, that'd fucked with my watchlist and all that shit

Haha don't laugh. There will come a day when you'll realize you've just watched Frozen for the 1,986th time and are about to hit restart because your kids want to watch it again.

Even worse is when you get into a movie but they never want to see the end of it, just specific parts. I literally just want to see how Raya ends with my daughter and she refuses to watch it until the credits roll.

Matt Hardy confirmed on his twitch stream that WWE offered to resign Jeff, but he declined. Also, Jeff's drug test was negative and that he wandered out of the arena at the house show because he was just done with the company. Based on Matt's info, this is a break down of the timeline that someone on Squared Circle subreddit wrote up:

    - Jeff walks out of a house show match after making a tag, and hangs out with audience members for an extended period of time. Why this occurred is still unknown, although Matt seems to suggest Jeff just does weird stuff sometimes.

    - WWE see this behavior as erratic, and orders a drug test for Jeff.

    - WWE assumes the drug test will come back positive given Jeff's history, and request he attends drug rehab before the drug test results have arrived.

    - Jeff, knowing he is clean, refuses rehab, presumably because he knows the test will come back negative and he will be put back on the road. At this point, Jeff is either calling a bluff or expecting to be suspended until the drug test results return.

    - WWE fire Jeff because they are still assuming he was intoxicated.

    - The Hardys stay quiet, for the most part, although all of them proclaim Jeff's innocence.

    - WWE receive the drug test results which show Jeff was not under the influence.

    - WWE, seemingly in a panic, offer Jeff a new contract and a spot in the Hall of Fame.

    - Jeff refuses, demanding he receive his drug test results so he can be exonerated.

    - Matt makes this statement on his Twitch channel.

*You can watch the VOD here. Matt goes into it at the 15:30 mark:

I am in the middle of watching the Royal Rumble match from 10 years ago the first time it was in St. Louis. Fun rewatch so far. All three commentators in the match. I hated heel Michael Cole. I did enjoy him bitching about the other two being in the Rumble and not doing their job and taking a spot from a wrestler only for him to enter himself. Showdown with Foley and Sanitino. Kofi walking on his hands. Good stuff.

Brock gave a long interview with the Pat McAfee show today, and I absolutely loved it.

I hadn't heard why he wears the pony tail now, and think that it's awesome.

Highlight was Brock telling about his parent's reaction to him putting his older brother through a china cabinet.

So you were right about a prediction that isn't a reality?

I would imagine you weren't the first, and everyone probably didn't shit on you.

That was a great interview, I’m really enjoying laidback and relaxed Brock Lesnar.

I’ve been ambivalent on him as an active in-ring performer at this stage of his career, but I’ve got all day for him cracking jokes while doing these sit down interviews. He’s obviously able to pick and choose his spots, sitting with a wrestling industry legend like Austin and a top-notch host like McAfee make it a lot easier for him.

It will be interesting to see where this current run goes. He says he’s enjoying his time and I totally believe him, but he’s totally got this relaxed vibe where he doesn’t have to be THE guy; he doesn’t bear the responsibility of being there every night as champion and carrying the weight of the company. In that interview with Pat, he said he doesn’t give a shit but yet has major anxiety about performing, which suggests that he actually does. Will he do the job to Roman at Mania and tell the company to come pick him up the month before the Saudi PPV in the Fall? Does he tell Vince to wake him up in January come Rumble time?
