    The VIP Thread

Atty made some pretty valid points about there being a use for this thread, so we're going to start from scratch with a whole new one.

This thread is for rambling discussion about WRESTLING. I'm sure it will inadvertently go off topic now and again, but this is NOT the VIP thread. Please keep that in mind. The point of this thread is for wrestling discussion. There are multiple forums for other conversations. You should use them.

So yeah, Wrestlmania is around the corner. Talk about that or something.

I like it when WWE gets new authority figures that have no business being in power coming in and trying to make all kinds of changes and be taken seriously. It always provides a lot of entertainment, especially when they know absolutely nothing about what they're trying to be in charge of.

Mike Adamle was brilliant. I think Brad Maddox could be a bit like him, but 100 times more cooler.

Adamle was actually brilliant for that very reason. He had no business there and that's a simple way to get heat. Like when a boss promotes his son to a position not based on merits alone. Makes you hate the chap. Worked well with Stephanie to get heat in 2000.

It was a ramble and it was wrestling related, unlike your post, Miotch Adamle.

Try 1,000,000 times more cooler. Maddox is the man.

I've been thinking about what Bendis did with New Avengers, he put Spiderman and Wolverine onto the Avengers and it caused a lot of controversy amongst the writers, and then the general public as Spidey had never been a team guy, and Wolverine was an X-guy... but Bendis' response was along the lines of that the best of the best (and Hawkman) were in the Justice League, and the Avengers have just gone from strength to strength ever since.

I think there's merit in creating a stables with the greatest heels and the greatest 'faces. I'm not thinking of a re-hash of old stables, but rather a slow burn that brings factions together. Perhaps a bunch of heels (Punk, Lesnar, Cesaro, Henry, Barrett) who are being DQ'd non-stop for their heelish tactics, so Punk rounds them all up and together they decide to bully their way into getting some rules changed.

Then you get a bunch of smooth talking, charismatic show-ponies to take them on. The likes of HHH, Ryback, Sheamus, Daniel Bryan, Chris Jericho. They don't all have to instantly like one another, but there could be a tragedy that goes down that unites them all (the heels prey on a universally loved female like Garcia, or on a well loved veteran like Lawler or Flair) and find themselves working together as a team.

It would create great moments for PPV's like Survivor Series, the Royal Rumble & Elimination Chamber and also could lead to a Main Event match at a Wrestlemania.

I think if WWE is aiming it's marketing at a younger audience, then as a younger audience the idea of a Power Rangers-esque team would greatly appeal to 7-8 year old me.

He also created a bunch of bullshit spam threads early this morning, which I can vouch for as I responded to at least one of them.

yeah but lol at this being "the breaking point!!!" also the threads yeah sure, but its still dumb to ban a major member for a little petulant outburst. the interplay between regular posters and the staff on this forum continues to be baffling and stupid.

Watching Royal Rumble 89 with 'The posedown' between Rude and Warrior goes on wayyyyyyyyy to long. And now Heenan is applying baby oil to Rude, possibly the gayest segment in the history of wrestling.

Gayer than the Steiner/Triple H posedown? That's quite the accomplishment.

Don't forget Lex Luger's debut in 1992. He was all oiled up and posing and Heenan sounded like he was jerking off while talking. Not sure what it is about the Royal Rumble and these segments.

Oh come lads, Pro Wrestling is essentially two almost full naked, oiled up men grappling for supremacy.

It is the most homo-erotic thing on the planet.

Regal's fantastic at getting back to people when he thinks they're interesting or funny. Had a back and forth with him a while ago about the similarities between the 'queenie' characteristics in the theatre and pro wrestling, the man is really sharp.

Got a DM from Mick Foley which temporarily caused me to lose my mind.

They don't even have to be almost naked. Viscera's finishing move was to push his opponent's shit in so far it would pool in his shoulders and he'd be unable to kick out.

I think they just throw random stuff at Bryan and say lets see if you can run with that.

Your only allowed to say yes. make that work? OK

Your gonna work a segment with kane where you fight over AJ who wont be included much and go to anger anagement. make that work? OK

Your only allowed to talk about bears. make that work? OK

The Dazzler stuff definitely is his own thing. The bear thing probably is, too, as he's really only doing it in places where he's probably allowed to improvise.

I seriously want to punch Cena for that heel turn joke.

Mark Henry is marvelous in his interview. Punk too.

Rosenberg himself said that Cena's the consummate company man. He'll wink and nod and talk about "turning heel" just to get peoples gears going, but if anything him claiming that he won't will only make it that much more impactful if and when he does cuz he'll have worked the marks and the smarks (or at least most of them.)

I saw ads and advance reviews and stuff and it made me assume I guess.

Ended up watching Mania. When did Lawler get that bad? I know he has been awful for a while, but tonight he was at the Teacher level of awfulness. That is the only thing on the show that made me feel any emotion good or bad on the show.

So was Cole, although he was trying. Yet at the same time he was mixing up wrestlers' names and miscalling moves and submissions like nobody's business. Cena had Rock in a crossface and he called it the STF.

Lawler no longer calls wrestling matches, he reacts to them as though he is a fan. "AHHH!" "OH NO!" "THAT MUST HURT!" and the like are all you hear from him. Very reactionary and not helpful at all. I'm glad the man is in good health now and is able to do what he loves, but his time has been up for a while. I actually think he'd be really good in an agent role but he seems to have no desire to work any days but Monday and one Sunday a month. Which I think is part of the problem, he's no longer all that invested in the product.

They were all horrible last night. JBL was even off. I can't remember who said it but one of them said Cena had a rough 2012 in his career and professional life. Thats the same damn thing!

That group did a post-show too. It was my favorite non-Punk/Taker thing out of the show. I don't mean that in the snarky way—they were actually very good, pointed out things that weren't mentioned during the show (Punk wearing Taker's old purple and grey colors) and actually did analysis. I'd like them to do that with all big shows.

JBL said this was the best version of Cena before the fight despite the build up being how cena has had a shit year and has been at his worst.

But that's only part of it, the build up also featured him turning it around with a Rumble win and finally beating CM Punk, making him ready for redemption. Find something else to nitpick.

I'm not but the way the story was told then they should have been keeping the Cena is back to his best until after he had beaten The Rock considering the whole feud was built on that aspect.

The obvious flaw was that Cena came off like a desperate whiny douche in the build-up.

I'd like them to do that with all big shows.
Apparently the plan is to do a similar set up for all of the PPVs going forward. I like the idea but I'm not sure how many people actually watch it.

Peter Rosenberg managed to get some good interviews over the weekend. Here is a few of them.

Some good ones with Trish, Hornswoggle, Ziggler and others as well.

Blahahahahahahahaha, I literally watched every single interview of his yesterday. The newest are all great, but he's got some very insightful ones with Show, Michaels, and Jericho from a few years back too.

If they ever go ahead with the network it will be a great feature but on Youtube its probably limited to how many will tune in.

I don't see Kofi being there everytime but he did a great job. As long as JR is there I am in though. Could be a good job for Bruno if he was interested in keeping things going with the WWE.

Other people I wouldn't mind seeing on the panel

    Damien Sandow
    Joey Styles
    JBL
    Heyman
    Booker T
    Arn

Sure there could be a lot more but it was honestly very interesting and well done.
