As per Charlotte Flair's Twitter, she has now had more WWE matches than Ric.

That's a cool statistic. She has 4,791 more matches to have more matches than him period.

Hmm that doesn't sound right... Ric was full time from mid 2002 through 2006/2007?

Looking into it, I found that Ric Flair had 246 WWF/WWE matches, and Charlotte Flair has had 390 matches (not including NXT)... Is she indicating only TV matches?

Good for Charlotte. As I recall, Ric was on WWE TV a lot, but didn't have a lot of matches, when the Evolution group was kicking around with him, Batista, Randy and HHH.

Yeah Ric's time as a manager generally outweighed his time in the ring. Plus the schedule is far more demanding these days and Charlotte wrestles every week when not injured.

Hmmm, possibly but I bet she just means in general. If she only wrestled once a week on t.v. she would have to be on the roster almost 8 years. But if you mix in when it was just one roster on both shows I could see that.

Vince showing up never really helps. It boosts the ratings a little for that episode, but it's not going to mean anything in the long run.

Cien, AJ and Charlotte to Raw for Balor and Bayley would be a good start.

Cien is the brightest young star in the game but is not getting used and raw needs a hero. Also Charlotte can kendo Rhonda all the way to Mania. Balor can get a big push on Smackers and a las we can put to bed this horrendous usage of Sasha and Bayley.

Probably because his appearances are more sporadic so when he does show up, something big is gonna go down.

Plus his character is so much more over the top than before when he does show up it's entertaining.

Reading the Raw results and Shane and HHH arrive in a limo.

This company is so out of touch, it's ludicrous.

A minor thing in the grand scheme of things, but still.

WWE tweeted a pic showing how prosperous the women made 2018... and Nia Jax felt left out so she put up different skin color emojis w/ a #weheretoo.

well the tweet was filled with pictures of nothing but white women, half of which were blondes. asuka wasnt even showcased despite winning the first rumble, having a huge mania match and ending the year as champ. sasha banks, ember moon, alicia fox, nia, naomi, zelina vega, bianca belair, io shirai, kairi sane, shayna baszler; none featured. it's a perfectly fine point to make, so just keep your eyes tucked back there

Funny how everyone arguing against Nia's point on twitter is white...

I don't think anyone's after tokenism so much as a clear representation of what 2018 was. There's been so many nationally diverse women to wrestle this year, which is fantastic. It most likely wasn't an intentional slight of women of colour but more of a subconscious indication of where WWE is at in the sense of -- there's progress that's been made, but there's still more steps forward.

Also, I'm really excited by the potential feuds to stem out of Bryan's new character.

I feel like if there's anyone that is such a polar opposite to those light hearted characters like the New Day, No Way Jose, Zack Ryder, R-Truth, etc. it's "the new" Daniel Bryan.

I'd love to see Bryan work with them all and elevate them higher on the card.

Even the always smiling Finn Ballroom versus this incarnation of DB would create some brilliant promos and storylines.

I sympathize. The minorities in WWE, Women and Men, have a right to be frustrated as they are usually relegated to the mid-card and Tag Teams. It just bothers me that it's Nia, yet again, who is the one complaining. Sasha and Bayley have more of a right to be angry than her. I found the tweet Nia was referring to. The pics they posted were so random. The IIconics standing over Charlotte? Yeah, they helped Carmella cash in, but I doubt many people would remember that. I'm guessing that post was made by random twitter staffer #3 with little guidelines for what pics to use. The pics I would have gone with would be:

    - Asuka winning the Rumble
    - Ronda holding HHH on her shoulders at 'Mania
    - Carmella cashing in
    - Take your pick: Nia winning the title at 'Mania, bloody Becky, or maybe Sasha, Bayley, and Nattie at Evolution

I would also add that, unless they changed it recently, the banner for WWE's account is Asuka holding the Women's Title.

It shouldn't be like "hey we have to put a minority on this picture". It should be about putting the best regardless of skin color. I agree Asuka should be included, and maybe Nia for the big matches she's been given, but I don't think any of the other minority women have done much this past year. And that's not about booking because white women have been misused too.
I'm excluding NXT women because I assume the tweet was about main roster women.

Don't know why the iiconics were on there though...cringewotthy to me.

If I had to narrow it down to 4 pictures that would probably look pretty white other than Asuka, but Asuka is my favorite wrestler regardless of gender. I wouldn't have even thought about Naomi or Nia Jax for example.

Pro wrestling doesn't exactly have a shit load of black/brown folks as it is. Think about it, how many of your black friends even watched wrestling growing up as a little kid? There were 2 black kids the entire time I was in school that watched wrestling. Myself and this dude I met my Junior year. That was it lol.

It's kind of hard to push black people if those that are available aren't that good. It's not like people back in 2000 thought Mark Henry or Godfather were World title caliber talent. No different than we didn't see Al fucking Snow and Jeff Jarrett as WWF champion.

Just a random thought, but between WWE Smackdown! moving over to Fox on Fridays, once their new TV deal starts, Impact moving from Pop TV to whatever the Hell the Pursuit Channel is on Fridays, and AXS TV running New Japan re-runs and starting up WOW: Women of Wrestling in a couple weeks on Fridays, suddenly Friday night is going to be the new hot night for wrestling.

Considering that most people have social lives and tend to go on the weekend, I wonder how good or bad some of those shows are going to do? Smackdown! should be fine. But Impact is going to fade further into obscurity. And the stuff on AXS TV, even though Japan is super hot right now, might struggle against the WWE. Especially because they're on around the same time slot.

I think there is money in Shingo as Jr Heavyweight Champion, doing the angle of a vicious bully that everyone complains is not a Jr. He's a Heavyweight. Then, Takahashi returns and either wins a No. 1 Contenders Match or just says he wants a match for the Title he never lost. Shingo turns even more heel, turning on fellow LIJ member Takahashi.

Then Takahashi slays the 'giant' to win the Jr HW Title.

Impact gonna air live on Twitch on fridays now boys. If you haven’t watched IMPACT in a few years, lemme just tell ya: it’s fucking amazing right now. The women’s division, the tag division, the X division, and the World division are ALL firing on all cylinders. People have characters and storylines actually go somewhere. I seriously can’t believe it’s the same company as the TNA of years past, but the Callis-D’Amore pairing have turned the company around.

Listening to the retro SCSA pod episode with Daniel Bryan from 2013/14 and Bryan mentioned how hands-on HBK was for his training and how invaluable he was when it came to psychology. What's super fun to hear back a few years ago is how cool Bryan thought it would be if there was a finishing school where Shawn could mentor the people who have already established a career, just listened to him talk about in-ring psychology. Fast forward years later, that's exactly what is happening at NXT now.

I thought HBK wasn't very involved in DB's training and Regal was the one who really taught him.

He must have meant with the psychology and helping out because everyone from DB to London to Kendrick said that Shawn was there quite a bit but 99.9% of the physical stuff was Rudy Gonzales. Regal I believe took Bryan under his wing, gave him those maroon tights as well.

Right. Bryan was saying HBK wasn't really cleared to do anything but he couldn't help himself but the other trainers did a lot of heavy lifting with the physicality. That's more of the first wave of the story, but the second about the finishing school was about how things could be different "today". Bryan talked about how Regal was very helpful in the sense of teaching the technique for old-school UK wrestling.

Gotcha. The "hands on" comment made me think Bryan was referring to the physical stuff which was confusing.

Definitely. It is so smart what the WWE are doing with the performance center. It basically takes the knowledge you would get riding with a 20+ year veteran like they'd do back in the 80's and 90's and funneling that into one place and with some of the best. Nowadays instead of going to the Funk'n Dojo or Memphis with USWA, you go to Orlando and get to pick the brain of Shawn Michaels. And while he's the biggest name down there, I would love to sit down with Norman Smiley and be under that learning tree.

Or being in NXT and having William Regal at your disposal, fuck yes!

Lars Sullivan was apparently supposed to debut on Raw in Orlando but had an anxiety attack and didn't show up. Then was supposed to be at Smackdown but he had another one and flew home.

I'm impressed by what I'm reading has been the company response, one of understanding and patience. It's definitely not what you would have expected even only a couple of years ago.

It's almost surprising we've never really heard about someone having this happen before. Like, you hear about a lot of nerves and stage fright among performers but they are able channel that into something useful and you hear people admitting to not being ready when they get put on TV. I could see how a person could crumble. At the same time, you've got a job to do and if you're not able to perform, you're not going to keep that job, they'll find someone else to take your spot. Really hope the dude can work through his shit and succeed.

Glad to hear they're being understanding of his situation. But it still doesn't bode well for the poor guy. It sounds like performing in front of thousands might make the man miserable. Hopefully he figures it out.

It's easy to put two and two together here, but we might be getting five.

I used to be a performer and couple of times I had to cancel shows because of anxiety attacks I would have. But never were they related to performing itself, the size of the crowd, the pressure of the situation etc.

It may be that is the case for Lars, but it's also possible that it's entirely unrelated. Only thing we know is that it happened and I think we all hope he's doing whatever he needs to do in terms of getting to a better place and that he has the support he needs.

Have any of these stories indicated that this is a life long problem for Lars? Or is this a new thing he's only recently started to deal with?

I read something years ago, that Sean 'O Haire, when he was in doing his "Devil's Advocate", "I'm not telling you anything you didn't already know" gimmick, that he was great doing the vignettes. He was well spoken and easily directed. But when the red light came on, he acted like he thought it was going to eat him. He had constant anxiety, and every time he had to do a live promo, he spent hours backstage throwing up from stage fright and nerves.

Same thing for Heidenreich. There's a Fit Finlay shoot interview, where Fit talks about tracking down Heidenreich after he just disappeared from a Smackdown! taping. A bunch of agents found him miles from the arena, pulled off the side of the road and just sitting, freezing, in his car. They tried to get him to come back and he just flat-out refused. So, they fired him. He just snapped. The pressure of working on the big show, criticism from The Undertaker, and a lack of passion for the business just made him walk away.

He really hasn't worked too much since then. Just in some Indies, Puerto Rico, and a Golden Corral parking lot.

They could make a character of it. It would bring attention to panic attacks and anxiety.

Lars refuses to wrestle because of it, and they can film skits of him trying to overcome it. It probably wouldn't work would it.

Sounds like he's just not ready. Might need to spend more time down in NXT. How long has he been with WWE?

He could also be psyching himself out. Putting too much pressure on himself to perform and is afraid to fail. I don't want to sound unsympathetic since I've had to deal with my fair share of anxiety, but successful people who have these issues find ways to cope and don't let it hold them back. Hopefully he can work through it and not miss his chance to hit the big time.

Yeah I had an anxiety attack once. For no reason.

About a year and a half ago I was talking to my lady and suddenly heard this rattle in my chest. My first thought was flat out "That's it. Cancer. Stage 4. You're fucking dead!" and I just started to hyperventilate like a motherfucker. I couldn't calm myself from my irrational fear. It just suddenly swallowed me whole.

Never had one before and haven't had once since but goddamn that was paralyzing.

Not to make light of the panic attack stuff, because that's serious, the Lars thing doesn't make sense in one regard to me. Unless this was a precursor of events that was going to be told on Smackdown, how the heck was this going to work in terms of making Lars a big deal with Strowman being who he is on Raw? If this was happening on Raw, they were doomed to eventually undercut Lars or Strowman somewhere down the road. I know it wouldn't happen immediately but they can't help themselves with burning through matches.

so the revival/mike and maria asked for the releases

losing the revival is a bad move

but mike and maria just pulled one long con since signing for money

sign, knock up wife, go to rehab earn cash while there, ask for release

The Revival bore me to tears, and aren't exactly a team that you'd say "Yeah, I'm gonna go check out AEW for sure now that the Revival have gone there" No big loss at all.

Maybe AEW would call them the Reviewal, and they can review matches like Dean Douglas.

If Jordan Peterson's talking, I'm sure as hell not listening.

I honestly don't know enough about Jordan Peterson to endorse or condemn him, but I get the impression that his detractors have a tendency to put words in his mouth to discredit him.

If he was anywhere near as intelligent as his devotees think he is he'd be half way to dangerous.

That's exactly what happens. And obviously this isn't the thread to get into a Peterson debate but if anyone wants to I'll start up a thread in the Asylum.

I'm one of the best rimmmers this side of London, so I recognise a tongue pushing its way up an arsehole.

Peterson's smart enough, but his fans look at him as some kind of semi-deity. Same goes for Shapiro. They both have a decent grasp of their specific field and are articulate and charismatic enough to gain a following. Their problem is their inflated sense of worth means they feel capable of speaking authoritatively on other issue, to hugely differing standards. As an example, Peterson on Climate Change is like listening to the Letters section of the Daily Mail once it's been left in a dirty puddle for a fortnight.

Ugh, I really want to like ROH but what the fuck. Their roster is so garbage it's not even funny.

Cheeseburger, Eli Isom, Coast to Coast, Jonathan Gresham, The Kingdom, Kenny King, Colt Cabana...does it get any worse and/or boring? Jay Lethal is the champion. Briscoes are tag champs.

    Snore.

Found this random Booker T/Brock Lesnar match. I'll be damned, but even with all the interference, the silliness, and shortness of the match, I've never realized how much I wanted a Booker/Brock feud.

Booker T had the size, the body, the agility and the athleticism to keep up with Brock in 2002. Even if Brock eventually ate him alive, they would've had some solid matches.

    Also of note:

    - Somebody has a "King Booker" sign. Prescient.
    - "Brock is a Nazi". How the Hell did that get in?
    - Shawn Michaels hopping around like an idiot. Kind of funny.
    - Paul E panicking when the NWO came out; funny as Hell.
    - Is that one of the only "proper" NWO beatdowns in their WWF run?
    - Damn was Golddust skinny there.

For what it was, they worked really well here.

That spot where Brock catches Booker's foot on the superkick, and pulls him in for a powerslam leg first was pretty sick stuff.

Brock was great before he got lazy and German Suplex-y in every match.

I was just thinking, what if someone who had the MITB briefcase won the title without cashing in first, thus having both the championship and MITB briefcase? Perhaps they win the MITB contract, then win the Royal Rumble, then win the match at WrestleMania.
