I'd love it if AEW could pay Tony Schiavone enough to get him full time. But he'd have to quit his job at Starbucks and his commentary position for that college baseball team.

Also, if they could lure Mike Tenay away from his sports betting gig.

Tony, Mike, and Jimbo. With Jackass In A Mask maybe being a quirky backstage, stand-up interviewer.

That sounds like such an awful combo. I don't need that much nostalgia.

I like Excalibur and don't really care about the mask.

Tenay seemed to be going the way of Jim Ross the last time I listened to him for TNA, so no desire to hear him in AEW.

Just don't see the need for three person booths. It's pretty simple with a two person formula. One person is the straight match calling things down the middle, maybe rooting for the faces a little, but the other guy is a supporter of the heels.

Face/Heel/Analyst who calls it right down the middle.

That could work. Like their third guy is a proper statistician who knows everything about everybody and doesn't go in for the faces or the heels. He'll support the faces when the numbers back it up and same for the heels. But he wouldn't have any major personal bias.

That's the weird thing about AEW right now. JR, Tony, and The Masked Jackass are all basically buddies who spend the whole show supporting the same guys, cracking wise with each other, and getting hyped for the same stuff. They don't have any spark, because none of the three are a heel.

I don't really mind Excalibur, but honestly, I just tune out the commentary most of the time on AEW. It's not a deal breaker for me if it subpar.

I think Murphy was called just Murphy before, maybe when he was still teaming with Blake, yeah?

I just watched that "Hobbs And Shaw" movie the other night. Fun stuff.

Guys, does anyone else think that Dwayne Johnson guy looks a little bit like The Rock? Man, whatever happened to him? That kid had some potential.

Another dream match that was actually in Iowa on a Thunder was Kevin Nash v. Raven.

I was pissed I wasn't able to go to this show but it's a good 2-3 hours away from Des Moines so it was understandable being 16-17 at the time why my parents wouldn't let me lol

And I question why they're trying their best. It's not illegal activities. They're not doing it while being employed by a wrestling company. Who gives a shit if AR Fox, Chyna, Lars Sullivan, and Val Venis did porn? Candice Michelle did some fetish videos and they made her Women's Champion.

Image. And yes I know we will open a can of fucking worms so I'm not looking to have us make a list of shit that has, will, or could hurt their image because we'd be here all day lol.

But if you can avoid something that might keep fans away because contrary to minority belief, people don't exactly get jazzed up over people who make money selling sex on that level (porn, stripping) Yes, some people have managed to secure a job in different eras like Candice Michelle and Mickie James. 15 years ago I don't think it mattered that Maryse did a Playboy spread. I mean even recently with Asuka, Io Shirai, they haven't done nudes but damn close to it in the past.

Porn is just still not widely accepted by the masses. Especially gay male porn.

Such a significant portion of the fanbase now knows everything. In 2006, nobody would know about pictures of Mickie James' beef curtains unless they specifically hunted for it, whereas nowadays the second something remotely sexual comes out about somebody it'll be all over social media and unavoidable. Then WWE starts "trending" because of pornographic images and the kid friendly sponsors might get in a huff about it. It's ridiculous but it's the world we live in. Especially when it's pro wrestling.

Plus we live in a world where everyone has to be FIRST. The first to comment on a post, the first to present some "scandal". Like the people who dig through 12 years of social media post to find that one time they maybe make a racist joke or posted a picture of their dick going into another guy's mouth.

There's a study that was done showing the correlation between social media and drugs and how getting a "like" or "retweet" targets the same part of the brain that drugs do. People are chomping at the bit like a crack fiend to find dirt on people, especially people who are famous, have money, or large corporations. Imagine if someone stumbled across a picture of Vince McMahon back in 1975 wearing "blackface". They'd be calling for his head immediately.

Yeah, because you can no longer grow and learn from your mistakes. If you did something 40 years ago, you're still that same person today. If I was on twitter, I'd say "retweet this" and include a picture of my small dick.

    lol.

They did it here in Des Moines. That kid who did the "Venmo me money for beer" or whatever and he donated all the money to a children's hospital. So of course a douchebag from our own newspaper in the city dug up some bullshit on him from like 8 years ago on Twitter and ran some article. Who is sitting around going "I know these people are doing good work, so we need to find something negative to try and sabotage the good work!" It was so fucking stupid. But the kid (Carson King if you want to read up on the story) took it stride, even thanked the reporter for pointing out the tweet and everything.

But that's the world we live in. We gotta find the negative in everything positive. Why? Jealousy. Plain and simple.

    That picture totally exists.

If there is one thing I've learned from the endless string of blackface scandals of the last few years, it's that every single white person born before 1980 spent at least 12 hours a day in blackface during their college age years.

I don't get it. Maybe they got an extra credit that way. Or maybe you got into some secret underground fuck club by doing it.

Speaking of doing blackface... I've got nothing.

I just think its interesting this match exists. Guerrero/Bossman feels like one of those matches that never happened, but you forget they were in the same company at the same time. Its short and its pretty pointless, but its a weird and fun combination.

Also, you gotta love the idea that Chyna couldn't kick Bossman's ass. She's done it before, more than once. But yet here, they treat her like a babyface valet.

    Random Thoughts:

    - I loved this era's version of heel Steve Austin. When he was just a maniacal sociopath who, along with Triple H, bullied the younger guys. Matt Hardy might be here to get eaten alive, but he gets a rub just by being in there with Austin.

    - Matt Hardy throws one of the best stinging, short-right hands in wrestling. And he only got better at it, during his Ring Of Honor stint and before his WWE return in 2004.

    - Love Matt Hardy's old "Freddy Krueger" mesh top.

    - Did Debra's tits get smaller when she got hitched to Steve Austin and started managing him on TV?

The only reason they didn't use the red lights in the Fiend/Bryan match was because it was a strap match, and you need to be able to see the welts.

If he ever has a first blood match, there will be no red tint

Shit I think they fought each other a few times in WCW. Seems like the type of random Nitro or Saturday Night match they'd have between Big Bubba and EddY Guerrero.

Hindsight being 20/20 in terms of business, we know that Austin turning heel might have been premature. But at the time I didn't hate it, especially before he joined the Alliance. The tag-team matches against The Hardyz, Benoit/Jericho, and Taker/Kane were awesome.

And while we did get some hilarious shit out of him joining the Alliance, in hindsight I think it was a huge mistake to put Austin on their team. But how much time did Austin even have left in the tank plus his personal life was going to shit......

Just heard that JBL may be going into the Hall of Fame and my thought was "ugh." I will be skipping that speech, in fact I may go do yard work or something more exciting.

Yeah he may have only really had the one true run at the top but his heel act was a special thing in an otherwise boring year. He didn't have go away heat. He had come a little closer so I can smash you in the face with this cornbread skillet heat.

JBL was legit, and he deserves aspot in the Hall of Fame for his work with Ron Simmons as the APA alone - while they may have been overshadowed by E&C, The Hardys and the Dudleys, but they were a big reason all of three those teams became so strong. His heel run was one for the textbooks, and a lot of the current roster could learn a lot from going back and watching him. His brawler style in the ring may not have been the crowd's favorite for a heel, but he understood his strengths, and as a heel he really understood how to make his opponents look good even if he was going to go over them.

He held his own as an announcer - and he made the transition from active wrestler to announcer better than others.

But more than anything, as I recall, it was JBL's idea for the Tribute to the Troops show, and he lobbied Vince McMahon until it finally came to existence. This alone makes JBL deserving of a Hall of Fame spot.

Congrats to him when it happens.

JBL's top heel run came out of nowhere, and it was cool at first. His run as a commentator was a lot of fun at first. Anytime he's been involved, he's outstayed his welcome because he grates and he grates and he grates to the point where I wish he would disappear from the face of this planet.

JBL was great, but not HOF (if this was serious)

SInce it's not, fuck it - he gets in. Clothesline from Hell made its way into the mainstream. And he is on Fox News, and the skits with him at the border.

    Why not

I thought JBL sucked at first, but he turned in a great effort.
Jobbing him out to CM Punk was not a good move.

I'd rather see him in the HOF than Batista, but what can you do...Batista's was more timely, that's for sure.

He had go away heat from me. Good god I thought he was awful. Had him always winning on the Smackdown side and HHH winning on the RAW side, just awful stuff. Only thing I ever liked about JBL was the cow mooing in his theme song.

Matt Bloom is the head trainer of NXT.

Cal Bloom, who is the one in the records, is an NXT performer who works mainly the Coconut-Loop house shows. Since he works primarily those shows in Florida, he's still relatively low but usable in terms of talent from the Performance Center.

Giant in relation to the two people he's next to, lol. If I was going to think of a relative comp, maybe slightly closer in the Hager range for size but he's still giving up a decent amount of size.

Vince's limo driver got in. That's the bar. In terms of their contributions to the WWE I wouldn't even call it particularly egregious anyway. Both won the divas title, Nikki had a record breaking reign, and she headlined the first all-women's PPV. Appeared at numerous Wrestlemania's, and had the rare crossover appeal with the Dancing with the Stars, Total Divas, Total Bella's and Teen Choice Awards. No, they wouldn't be getting in on talent, but we're not talking about a legitimate sporting Hall of Fame. Torrie Wilson got in last year and I'd say she was certainly less deserving, than Nikki at least anyway. Didn't win any titles, didn't have any good matches, didn't have any memorable promos, but by Christ she looks good in an 8x10.

They are certainly more worthy than some of the people already in. You can make a case that their contributions to developing the female viewership and crossing over with more mainstream attention through Total Divas and Total Bellas was a financial success for WWE.

Oh god those women are worshipped by a legion of young girls. As bad as we may hate them, or simply be bored by them, they are super important to this whole women's movement in WWE clicking with the female audience.

They are seen as strong, intelligent, independent...and...empowered (shudder). Very far out there from the roles of women in WWE's past. They're part of the brand now.

Technically that's 2 points for Bellas.

They appeared at some Wrestlemanias - can you name me a great (or even memorable) match they had there? All the roster appears at Mania, on that basis should Dana Brooke be there as well then?

Nikki got the record run because they were trying to bury AJ Lee (a FAR more deserving Famer), their tv programs are the empty reality crap that is just awful.

Let's be honest, they are there because they banged the right people and their Mum is managed to a WWE executive.

That's why perspective exists. One person's "empty reality crap" is another's weekly TV highlight. Different strokes. They were rip roaring successes (still are? I have no idea). On the 'Mania subject, the Cena mixed tag and proposal got over and had a bit of mainstream appeal. On the AJ Lee point, yeah, but facts exist. Randy Orton will go down as the youngest (to bury Brock at the time), and that will be a positive highlight when they review his career.

Bit old fashioned in the thought process there. Women that weren't particularly talented (Ivory, Jacqueline, Torrie, Sunny) all got in without, to my knowledge, polishing John Cena's helmet. Did the reality show get launched because of the Cena connection? Possibly. Is it's continued success in his absence an indicator of their popularity? Absolutely.

I say all of this, by the way, as somebody who thinks they're cringey and limited. Brie has the worst theme music in wrestling history. They had one of the worst feuds of all time. But history will remember them, and that's pretty much the base level of entry for the Hall of Fame. Plus they're on good terms and will promote 'Mania weekend to the TMZ's and E! Network's of the world. That's as much a reason as any. Ax and Smash of Demolition aren't going to be giggling on a sofa with Ryan Seacrest any time soon are they.

I'd totally watch Ax and Smash with Ryan Seacrest, especially if they tried to perform their finisher on him.

Thought process is pretty logical. One of them is married to a top wwe guy, the other was with one for many years. And their mother is married to a Senior VP in the company.

Jacqui and Ivory were good wrestlers who deserved it. Sunny was a massive star in the mid 90s. You cant say either about the bellas

I don't like them much better than you do (though I think Nikki is a lot better in the ring and on the mic than Brie plus a better look) but I don't think it's entirely fair to put this purely down to their connections. Like it or not, they are atars and are seen as role models amongst the younger generation of girls and do lots of media work as Batter and others have pointed out.

They are certainly worse people in the HOF than the Bellas.

I think the Bellas may be the first inductees younger than me

I mean talent, not Warrior Award people like Connor the Crusher.

Me neither, especially if they announce JBL. Ugh.

I suppose if Blue Meanie and the Miz and Mauro are in the audience and they throw tomatoes at him I'd watch.

Sunny wasn't the most downloaded person on the internet in the mid 90's then?

I think the whole thing is very arbitrary. I know the reasons Owen Hart or Chris Benoit aren't there, but there are so many others who should be, which is why I think it odd others who don't get put in there.

Given that Jim Cornette's podcast reminds around 250,000 people about Pampero Ferpo a week, maybe he should get the coveted "dead dude spot" in the Hall of Fame.

Leave Bulldog out until Vince gets his head out of his ass and decides to have 'Mania at Wembley Stadium.

A Mania of big 4 PPV is due in the UK at this point, quite frankly.

she was a good hand to have, yea. but she didn't have much crossover appeal and was in tatters just a few years after her wwe run started. the bellas have their own show, been in bigger angles and have had much more longevity. take off your rose tinted glasses here

Maybe the likes of a Summerslam or Survivor Series could happen in the future to test the waters but I doubt a Mania would ever happen over here as much as I would love it. It's the biggest show and the majority audience are in North America so they should probably stick to that.

Different eras to gauge crossover status. I'm not saying Bellas don't belong in the Hall of Fame all things considered. I'm sure if reality tv was what it is now back in the 90's she would have FOR SURE had her own show. Might have looked like the Anna Nicole Smith show but still a show lol.

Both were constants on the show before having relationships with the top talent. Considering how well they brand themselves, it wouldn't have been a surprise for them to achieve success without having famous partners, which women can actually achieve, as unbelievable as that seems.

Come on man. Jacqui and Ivory were just solid in a terrible era for women's wrestling. If they "deserved" it, pretty much anybody on the roster in 1999 deserves it, as the female matches were generally the worst part of the show. Saying Sunny was a massive star, based on people wanting to see her tits during the internet's infancy, is absolute lunacy. The Bella's have had a presence on mainstream TV networks for years, gigantic social media following, etc. Yes it's all stupid, vain, lowest common denominator bollocks, but we're not the demographic, and their successes in that field speak for themselves.

Do these complaints exist when people like Hillbilly Jim and Brutus Beefcake go in?
