Oh, they definitely do. Especially Torn.

But no, the timezones. My earlier post was just after 9am... the UK folk it was just after 1:30am. Timezones suck for playing with UK guys unless I am up considerably earlier than normal.

I've been addicted to Hand of Fate recently but I have a big work crew all gearing up for Rocket League so I may be around to play on that.

That's Journey out on the PS4 now. Free if you already bought in on PS3.

Is Journey really as good as everyone makes out? All I've read makes it seem quite boring but over and over again I read about the 'emotional journey' of playing it so it does intrigue me. Is it more or less just walking through endless desert?

    Yes.

I can see why someone wouldn't like it. You need to commit to it for the two and a half hours it lasts with no distractions and in one sitting to get the most out of it.

I'm a huge fan though. It is in my top five games ever.

It's less "emotional" and more exploration and wonder.

You're going on a journey. It starts off as an empty desert but that's only for the first few minutes.gh

The visuals and the music in Journey are really amazing together and enough for future replay value alone. The multiplayer aspect is super-odd but in an intriguing way.

Been meaning to play Limbo since they gave it away on the PS3 so will likely play that. Rocket League last month makes up for it anyway.

I'm saving up for one of these in a positive enforcement way for my self, for every 1lb I lose I put away £5. I've got £115 so far.
I might be able to afford one when the playstation 5 comes out.

I've been saving for this by not buying it yet. Ill wait till the price drops to something more reasonable or my wallet. There's no real "must have" games out yet and there's no secondary features that make it a useful item like the DVD player on the PS2 and BluRay player on the PS3.

Diablo 3 and Dark Souls II are on the Playstation Network really cheap for a few more days. I'm thinking about getting one, which is better?

They're pretty opposite. Diablo is very automated grindy that has its charm but you could fall asleep playing it. The Souls games can be a painful trudge where you have to have your guard up at all times but it's extremely rewarding to get through. Get dark souls if you're ready to make a commitment to it

I've been told and feel like Dark Souls would be something I'd get addicted to. Is that a game where I'd have to play the first to understand Dark Souls 2?

The only thing that makes me apprehensive about DSII is it's notorious difficulty level/learning curve. I like to relax when I play video games, not RAGE.

I often don't notice difficulty in games. Like when Ninja Gaiden came back on the XBOX, I beat it probably four times without noticing the difficulty until I read that it was impossibly difficult. Or FF6, which I find insanely easy (and was actually bothered by how easy it was when I replayed it on iOS a few weeks ago) and then Cewsh will rant at me about how impossible it is just because he runs from every battle and doesn't level as he goes.

Dark Souls intrigues me for that very reason: will I notice it as being difficult or just enjoy it? If it were multiplayer, I'd be terrible at it and murdered by 3 year old Koreans, Matthew and Torn, but in single player people often run in without think or not know when to not pick a fight with some giant baddie.

I knew that would get your attention.

I've played so many games in the past month. I had to get the BROCK LESNAR surgery and have been off work, so games were about all I could do for awhile (pain killered out of my head.) I had my iPad in the hospital, saw FF6 was available and ran through it. They have an "auto-battle" setting that made grinding so quick and simple that I kept thinking "Damn it Cewsh! It's not hard enough!" Only really started to rape me when I got to the post game Dragon's Den stuff that they added in.

Arkham Knight/Scarecrow is exceptional with pain killers. I highly recommend playing it on drugs. The opening of MGS V too. Jesus. Now I'm hooked on MGS V like it's some form of super crack. I think I'll try to fulton people on the street.

Ok, I have a question. It's not really a PS4 question but I'm going to see if anyone has an opinion here. On the PS3 I had a number of PS1 games downloaded that I'm aching to play (Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill and Soul Reaver particularly.) I can't play them on the PS4 and got rid of the working PS3 when getting the PS4. My question is would I be crazy to pick up a Vita if I see one cheap on some holiday deal? I know nothing of actual Vita games and would only really want it to do some stuff that I no longer can on the main console and play PS1 games.

I really can't decide if it would be a waste or not. I like the idea of PS1 on a smaller screen to hide all the flaws but at $200 it seems a waste to me. At less than that, I could see a lot of value out of my need to play MGS and Silent Hill again.

Anyone have experience with the Vita? Would I be throwing away money that would be better spent on blow?

I bought one a few weeks ago. First thing I did was play Metal Gear Solid.

To me the important question is do you have a natural reason to play a handhold? I can't imagine playing mine at home but I travel a lot so I can see me getting plenty of use out of it.

I don't and that's the main hesitation on my part. Really, I just want to play PS1, but not on a PS1/2. There are times where I could use it on the go but not a whole lot. Imagine it would be played a lot in bed when I'm going to sleep (like the Wii U's handheld screen thing), but I live like five minutes from work right now, have no commute and haven't been traveling lately.

Silent Hill feels almost like a troll. I just played through the HD version of the third game on the 360 and it being a direct sequel to the first one reminded me that I never got around to playing the first one again when I downloaded it on the PS3 that I no longer have. Of course, I now need to play that.

if you can get a used one for cheaper, i don't see why you shouldn't. back catalogue of older games plus the ability to remote play the ps4 if you wanted to. you'll get access to some free vita games every month because of ps+, as well. the amount of games i have on my vita is silly, and i've only paid for like... 3 of them, maybe, cause a lot of them came around thanks to plus.

I got one cheap to use all the PSN+ free games that I've got. It's been worthwhile having. Although you'll want a fairly good sized memory card and Sony will stiff you on those.

I was sure Sony were working on some teeny little black box, similar to Apple TV, that would play the PSOne and PS2 games as well as all the TV apps. And there was also some sort of cloud/streaming device similar to the OnLive console that would offer the same, not sure if they're part of the same box or separate. Seems a bit Microsoft that you're forced to buy extra hardware instead of making them compatible with the PS4.

My experience of the Vita was that it's very uncomfortable and the back panels acting as L2/R2 were an absolute disaster. Just keep a PS3 around.

Backwards compatibility really is a nightmare with the weird architectures of the PS2 and PS3. Wasn't it about 4 years to get select PS2 games software ported to PS3. Even with the relatively easier transition of 360 to Xbox One it's taken them a couple of years to start to scratch the surface.

That's it, thanks. The PlayStation TV is about $50 or so and plays a bunch of PSOne, Vita and PSP games. There's a list for North America compatible games/apps here. I can't tell if you have to buy them separately for that platform even if you've already bought them via PSN. Probably.

I think any game that runs on the Vita will work on the PlayStation TV. So MGS, as an example, would be fine.

I don't get why they didn't just add four more buttons (R2/R3/L2/L3) to the Vita so that everything on the normal joypad is replicated. That said I've mapped R2 and L2 to the top right and top left of the front screen and it works ok. Wouldn't want to try it with certain shooters or racers though.

I've a $30 gift voucher that I must have got for my birthday earlier this year... which of Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Just Cause 3, MGS should I put it towards? I would usually get the first 3 on PC but I don't have one of them for the foreseeable future.

Yes I just got my PS4 today with the uncharted bundle and madden. I played Uncharted 2 and 3 on my PS3 but will probably replay the entire series before 4 drops. What else do I need to get?

    I don't like FPS.

Well, I love both the Fallout and Witcher franchises and like I said, I would already have them on PC if I had a working one. And I would get JC3 at some point, probably a GOTY type bundle a year or something later. Probably the same with Witcher and FO, tbh.

just cause 3 has had a ton of performance issues on consoles. i got it on the xbox, and the slowdown during big action can be terrible, as can the load times, even on simple transitions from the open world to selecting a mission. it's incredibly fun, at times, but if you game on a PC that is a title you'll probably wanna pick up there.

witcher has been named game of rhe year from so many outlets, and have a ton of good DLC, so that'd be my pick.

That's actually part of the reason why I am hesitant to get it... I expect a GOTY Edition next year with all of the expansion stuff bundled in.

    I just don't know!

you like the lego games? cause marvel heroes was a great game to play when i first got my ps4. i think a new lego avengers game comes out next month, too.

if youre into horror/survival games, alien: isolation is quite the experience. it's a FPS, but not in the typical COD sense of the word. they did an HD remake of the first resident evil, as well. and there's this creepy game called outlast that's pretty unqiue.

any of the assassian's creed games, specifically black flag or the new one, syndicate.

if you played any of the arkham series, arkham knight is a tremendous game.

infamous: second son was a good launch title.

metal gear solid V is insane.

you got fighting games like injustice and mortal kombat.

shadow of mordor is great, especially if you were into the batman games at all.

mlb: the show, for your baseball needs.

then there's a ton of smaller indie games available.

That's actually a great shout for me... I love the Lego games and something I can play co-op would probably work with wife + sister in law playing on occasion.

I really liked the Infamous 2 graphics and basic gameplay on PS3 but something about it didn't click for me. I never got through more than hour or so without losing interest and shelving it for weeks.

Wait... your only experience with Lego is the Lego Batman game? FFS man, you need to find the Lego Star Wars games... they are absolutely brilliant.

    Wait... it's last gen only

Just sold my PS3 with 17 excellent games and got $100 credit toward my PS4.

Was thinking about gifting it to my nephews but then decided I wanted $100 toward my PS4.

everything i've heard on this issue is that you dont need to have played the other two to get enjoyment out of the third. obviously you'll know way more of the lore and backstory and get more out of the game, but it's not dependent on the previous two.

I played the beta and thought it was unfocused trash. There is no semblance of tactical battle type movement. Just a bunch of headless chickens.

I picked up Wasteland 2 and am very enjoying it at the moment.

Are you playing more games than ever at the moment Alf?

I randomly bought a game on the basis of the video trailer yesterday for the princely sum of £9.99. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

I will be this month for I am absolutely brutally skint. I've always got one on the go though. I find myself getting bored easily. I played a fair bit of Fallout 4, got bored, and now I doubt I'll play it again.

I might run through The Last of Us again.

There's a semi-decent January sale on the online store right now until the 8th and then another one due to go live straight after that.

Anything you find in the PSN sales is generally always cheaper from Amazon though. "30% discounts" on things labelled at £60 is a bloody disgrace

I bought fucking Goat Simulator off it the other night when I had mates round...great fun for literally two minutes. Only cost a few quid but still what a waste.

Is Watch Dogs any cop? It's the only game I've seen going dirt cheap that interests me. But it's worrying that it's going for a tenner when others are still so expensive.

It's a standard Ubisoft open-world game but set in a futuristic city. It was a big let down based on the hype but definitely worth a tenner if you can get it at that price.

For anyone with kids who is looking for a great game that the little ones are into, I played Kings Quest chapter 1 with my 6 year old and she LOVED it. We just downloaded chapter 2 and we are starting tomorrow. The puzzles are simple enough that she helped work through things and it was generally an excellent bonding game.

This is really weird because I was just talking about the original King's Quest games and other point-and-click games with a co-worker today. Weird how stuff like that comes full circle.

It's cool. Beefy and I got handled in a 2v2. We started to gel right at the end for a goal.

A few of those were fun. It's a really frustrating game when all you (me) can do is jump over the ball

Yea, but if we could get a few Rajahites in games it'd be better.

Is anyone getting Far Cry: Primal?
I watched the first 15 minutes on IGN the other day, and I have to say it looks good. I loved Far Cry 4, so get this when it drops down in price in a few months as I still have Fallout and Witched to complete (and MGS V but I have no urge to go back to that borefest).

It's not worth it for me. It's just not different enough yet.

    Anyone grabbed The Witness yet?

Not yet - been playing Axiom Verge and Talos Principle just now - worried Witness will be too similar a game to Talos to might hold off for a sale.

Axiom and Shovel Knight got me loving some 8-bit muzak.

It sounded interesting until I read it was just drawing lines round or for a maze. Not sure that is worth £29.99.

I don't know about the UK, but HellDivers is on the PS+ for North America. It is a tough twin-stick shooter. Plays cooperatively up to 4, but you CANNOT turn off friendly fire. You can and will kill your teammates.

Played some of it. It is very hard or I really suck. Probably both. Would love to try it co-op though. Think it would be much more fun that way.

I think EU also has helldivers for PS+ this month. Everyone get it. I think it will be lots of fun as a group.
