I remember my friend had a copy of this he downloaded off Kunaki back in 2000, but I haven't listened to it since. Shit is hardcore as fuck.
If Staind is hardcore then I'm sexy.
This record was before Aaron Lewis got all soft with the acoustic. It was about 3 years before Dysfunction came out as well which was a pretty heavy record. I'd give it a listen man it's pretty slick.Originally Posted by Donald
I loved Dysfunction back in the day. That album and the self-titled Slipknot album were in heavy rotation during my senior year of high school.
I've got a copy of Tormented lying around in my CD collection somewhere too. The rest of the artwork is pretty wicked shit.

No worries man most people when they think of Staind think of songs like "Outside" or the other acoustic verse into a heavy chorus which is cool but yeah this record is very good. Especially if you're into that heavier rock that started creeping out around the mid-late 90's. I don't want to say Nu Metal because when I think of that I think of bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit, the groups that had a rap influence and didn't really sing.
Korn is the shit. I still put on a nu metal album from time to time. For Limp Bizkit, Three Dollar Bill Y'All is still a decent listen.
I dislike Korn about as much as I do Eminem.

Back in the day I bought a Korn cd from a friend for $3 and wrote "Korn sucks dick" on it and broke it in front of the metal kids table at lunch just to fuck with them. It was well worth the $3.
Did metal kids even like Korn? lol. They were kind of the bastard child of rap and metal. They weren't even really METAL.
Korn and Marilyn Manson were probably as close to Metal as kids in my school got. Nothing against Manson or anything, he's just always seemed closer to Hard Rock.

Korn's self titled is really good, but nothing else comes even close. Same thing with Manson's Holy Wood. It's just ten times better than anything else the band has ever made.
Korn's debut was off the charts incredible. Especially that last track "Daddy". Everything is very hit or miss after that, but I'd say ISSUES was the last album I really liked front to back with only skipping over a handful of songs.
Manson is another hit or miss for me. Obviously Anti Christ is a classic, Holy Wood was good as well, I think the one he dropped a few years ago was pretty good too can't remember the name. Other than that I just dont' really care for it.
This shit is so fuckin sick. Its been my jam for a while.

Been listening to a lot of Primus lately. Been a while. You almost forget how different and awesome the band was, and honestly, still is. I don't think I've ever heard a band combine funk, metal, and jam band so effectively and properly appease all of them. Especially someone who's a fan of all three. I'm currently listening to this song. Was always a favorite of mine.

Fireball Ministry is class. I saw them open for Andrew W.K. back in 2003.
I saw FM open for Opeth. They have a hell of a stage presence.
They're a recent taste acquisition for me within the past three or so years. But between them and the Sword, they've been on of a few go-to's I haven't worn out since.
Haven't seen them live, though. Would love to, but too busy raising two pre-teens.

July Talk is my new favorite thing. Picked up their album a couple days ago. Imagine if Tom Waits was in a bluesy rock band sharing vocals with a chick. Really cool contrast in their voices, some really good jams, solid gritty rock 'n' roll. Love it. Check out some of their other liver performances, they've got energy and the chick is goofy and adorable.

If you're a fan of Nirvana, Sublime, and Meat Puppets this band is definitely worth checking out as it features Krist Noveselic (Nirvana's bassist), Curt Kirkwood (Meat Puppets' singer/guitarist), and Bud Gaugh (Sublime's drummer)
Shirley Manson, super fucking hot. I remember reading an interview back in the late 90's that she wanted Gavin Rossdale to let her pee in his belly button, never forget that shit. This song is cool but it's so tongue in cheek, kind of making fun of the depressing alt rock era of the time-which is weird considering Butch Vig is in the band and he was part of the biggest album of that time with Nirvana's Nevermind.
I wanted to smash Shirley Manson back in the day. I reckon I still would.....while I'm doin dabs and jammin some US Circle A.

I think it was around 1991-1992 where even as a 10 year old white kid in Des Moines, IA, you could definitely tell the world was not what Nick at Nite tried to pretend it to be lol. And artists like Ice-T and Ice Cube, plus movies like Colors, New Jack City, and Boyz N The Hood, they really opened up the eyes and ears of not just white America, but America in general. As I got older, listening to these records just made me rethink everything whether it was music, politics, life, what I would give for music and movies to be this influential again...
Man this was such a great soundtrack. My mind was fucking blown during these years of artists fusing rap and rock/metal together.

California punk wouldnt have turned out the same without them. And unlike a lot of their contemprorires they could play. Real tight sound. I think I first heard them when I was about 18 or 19. But its only been lately that I really started to dig on them.
Yeah, Fear are the dudes that Belushi brought on SNL when Donald Pleasance was hosting and they destroyed the fucking place
