Is his gimmick that he's hitman from the game.

He's been good in this though. Can see why they put it on last

Ki vs Ibushi vs Devitt from WK7 is one of my favourite 3 ways ever. (Don't tell Defrost)

I love Low Ki. Interest piqued. He's only had a handful of matches since leaving TNA the last time. One of which was against Sami Callihan this March and he looked outstanding in it. Great match that's well worth checking out.

The problem is in 3 months we end up with a card of Magnus vs del rio, jb vs josh Matthews and Matt Morgan vs some shite.

I like Morgan but I do feel they've brought back too many 'big names' from early days most of whom are flawed

Two things I find ridiculous about Impact is, everybody who has their first match on Impact is "the hottest free agent". Someone in the X division match, not Low Ki, was talked up as such.

And the other is "trending worldwide on Twitter". Nothing more than a shot at WWE? Hilarious considering the shows airing are often taped like 3 weeks prior to it airing.

I definitely think they would benefit from concentrating on themselves. Case in point when El Patron came in I knew what his promo would be straight away, It's like their template for debuting former WWE guys is 'Go out and slag the company'.

Ahhhh Sami Callahan. To think of what he could have been as Solomon Crowe. Wrong place wrong time. I hope he gets another shot someday.

They're building up Dutt as the person to potentially dethrone Low Ki. Wasn't even aware Ki was the guy (accidentally) responsible for Dutt's eye. Put in spoilers for the few who don't like needles.

They couldn't find a Samoan, so they made one from bits of old gimmicks they found in the locker room.

Didn't realize this, but you can rent any TNA pay-per-view on Youtube for $1. Pretty good deal for a high quality stream that you can cast to your TV. I was watching Lockdown 2008 but I'll probably check out a few more for that price.

Watching this on channel 5 and I can't decide if it's bonkers or legitimately entertaining. There's a guy wrestling in a suit and tie...

Low-Ki I'm assuming you mean. This main event was pretty solid and the right match to close the show with.

Anybody else catch last night's show? I think I do this out of torture and boredom. Looks like they are setting up Josh/JB like a counter to the JBL/Mauro stuff getting out.
The Spud/Swoggle stuff is.... dumb. The music and video for Spud's recovery was 80s cheesy, which I guess should now be called Impact standard.

What's going on with Impact now then? Are Jarrett and Dutch Mantel booking already? If so, does the show in any way resemble TNA when they were booking before? Sounds like it hasn't changed much since the buyout...

Fuck....well I guess seeing is believing and that segment, albeit 1 segment, yeah....no.

And then I watched the MJ Jenkins match they recommended....

Damn, I was kind of hyped up about the visuals I had seen but now.....Better execution it'd be the shit, but those 2 vids alone made it terrible in a bad way not a Broken way.

Bound For Glory was always the big one.

Slammiversary is being shown over here on Monday, appaz, but I can't get a signal on Spike Tv. May have watched it.

BFG is their Mania but Slammiversary is their Summerslam.

Impact is not what they used to be. But also you have to respect that despite the merger, 90% of the posts about wrestling are WWE related. I had to search through 2 months of shit almost to find the ROH thread to talk about Cody winning the belt and not a single fucking person has responded to it haha.

My mistake, Slammiversary just has a WrestleMania vibe about the name to me.

Sadly I'm one of those who only watches WWE. Frankly, I've been programmed by Vince and company to think anything else is bush league so I never gave anything else a good chance. Not going to start now, I barely watch WWE as it is.

The name definitely makes you feel like it should be a Mania type card, especially when they do the HOF induction at this show. But I think with BFG being their very first traditional ppv they stuck with it even though, imo, Slammiversary seems to be booked as the bigger show per the matches.

Anybody watching the PPV tonight? I was going to attend it but couldn't get off of work in time. I had gotten myself hyped up for it, then couldn't go..... Sooooooooo for the first time in like 5 years I have paid full price for a PPV. Hope I don't regret it!

The show has been worth every penny. It's almost a best-of TNA, everything I used to love about TNA pay-per-views back in the day. You guys should watch this show first chance you get. Long live TNAkenstein

I loved the tag title match and have respect for Matthews and Borash for taking thumb tac bumps to try and make the show a success, but honestly the rest of the card was just ok for me. Not much was bad but nothing else kept me engaged. It is still a work in progress to rebuild the brand I guess.

    Good effort overall though.

Ok, so when looking for the cricket highlights on Channel 5's on demand service last night, I saw that Impact and Slammiversary were on there! I guess Spike is owned by Channel 5 over here. I should get Spike, but I can't get a signal.

So, with not being able to see Raw or Smackdown anymore, I may give this a chance. I started the PPV and was pleased to see Don West back. I watched the 2 pre-show matches and the tag opener from the main PPV. Opening 6 person tag was ok, but the 4 way tag match was great. There was a horribly botched frogsplash towards the end and there were too many near falls, but it was still excellent.

Opening tag match was ok. Forget who was in it, apart from Chris Masters.

I'll watch the rest at some point and will give Impact a go...

What is the deal with the Owl? I was watching clips and they actually have a real one flying around. It's too bad Sting can't wrestle. He could have become "Owl Sting".

Came across a show on TLC called "Rattled" and Brooke Adams, all 9 months preggo, was on it with her husband. Just a typical show that follows parents to be and she just happens to be the "celeb" of the roster.

Apparently her husband wanted to start a new business and they were worried about being able to support their family in the process. So she was considering getting back into wrestling or finding something else to do. This was the something else to do.

I do know she returned to Impact earlier this year but according to her FB page she announced a month or so ago she wasn't under contract any longer. She was always one of my favorites.

    Thread title needs changed.

So El Patron unifies the Impact and GFW titles, and now he's stripped. I guess put the strap back on Lashley for the 80th time so nobody can continue to care about this company. I shouldn't say that, the women are pretty much the only thing worth my time it seems. Tried to get back in to this company and Sienna is probably the best part of the show.

Thank you! I actually was shocked I wasn't met with a "Like it matters" response from someone first haha.

I do have to wonder if they've already shit the bed on this promotion because I truly feel without the support of the hardcore wrestling fans, such as those who tune in to watch the WWE every week, it's going to be hard for them to really rise out of the ashes. Especially when there are a lot of fans and talent that are not interested in Jarrett leading the charge. Some are not fans of Bruce Prichard and/or Dutch Mantel as well. I believe Big John Gubrick or whatever his name is might still be employed. I think they still have a decent roster and do some interesting angles (like the stuff with Sienna and Chelsea Green) so there's for sure hope that maybe they can get something positive going beyond what they already have.

I think the Destination X card sounds okay on paper. I'm probably going to attend it as long as nothing goes wrong. The fiasco with their new Undisputed World Champ being a piece of shit and needing to be stripped throws a wrench in the works but hopefully they recover well. I have a paid week off this coming week so might make it to a few of the tapings (6 days worth starting Thursday with the live Dest.X). I'll post things of note if you guys would like.

And what's the main event, now that I assume Alberto is out?

Someone posted that if there was a reason not to watch GFW it was Corny showing up. I feel the opposite. I'm about to listen to his explanation as to why in the fuck he would even be part of GFW (the same question I ask Bruce Prichard).

And like...it makes total sense, doesn't it? TNA's marginal viewer is a hardcore wrestling fan. Casual wrestling fans aren't going to watch a show that's on Pop TV. You've got to really fucking love wrestling to track down TNA. And hardest of the hardcore fans listen to wrestling podcasts. It actually seems weird to me that you don't hear more wrestling advertisements on wrestling podcasts.

would be cool to see but Tony stated a few times he wouldn't ever do it. Obviously things change when money is involved.

I will say this....It looked like there were about 17 people in the crowd. It looked like the first show I ever did where 10 of the 17 were band members of other bands.

I watched on and off last night. Saw the Gail Kim match, the beginning, the end, the Eli Drake segment and Prichard and JC. Seems like any kind of storyline involving authority and change in TNA/GFW always ends up being a bad thing.

I'm a big fan of Eli Drake, but I can't think of any stand out matches. Good matches are few and far between in TNA/IMPACT/GFW in general. That 6 sided ring should have been retired a long time ago. Just isn't conducive to good wrestling.

I actually have to disagree with that last part. TNA has produced many high quality matches with the 6-sided ring. I don't really care for it but to say it's not conducive to good wrestling when great wrestling has occurred many times over the last 15 years of their existence, the majority being in a 6-sided ring. AJ Styles has had more incredible matches in a 6-sided ring than he has in a 4-sided and imo he's the best wrestler in the world and has been for about 15 years.

I don't think the 6 sided ring adds to or takes away from the product. It's just.... there.

It adds to the presentation simply because it's different. Whether that's a good thing who knows nowadays. Awhile back it was a huge deal when they changed it to 4-sides.

Wait, I watched GFW last night. Cornette's a heel (MOTHERFUCKER?)? Because he fired the heel general manager, gave the wronged man, Low Ki, an advantageous spot in the 20-Man Gauntlet match and had a verbal scuffle with the heel LAX. And then he eviscerated E-LI-Drake backstage.

AJ Styles has had more incredible matches in a 6-sided ring than he has in a 4-sided and imo he's the best wrestler in the world and has been for about 15 years.
I'll rephrase that. It's not conducive to "great" wrestling. There have been good matches in the 6 sided ring for sure, but very rarely have they been great (I'm talking MOTYC). AJ wrestled the majority of his career in TNA, so by default, he may have had more good - great matches in 6 sided ring than in a 4 sided one. As far as overall quality, I would still put the matches he had in New Japan and his run in WWE over just about anything he did in TNA.

If he helped Low Ki then he is FOR SURE a heel haha. Of all the wrestlers they would have him help it's the guy he considers worse than Kenny Omega AND Joey Ryan combined lol.

I respectfully disagree. I've seen plenty of great matches in TNA inside the 6 sided ring.

Is there any particular reason why Cornette doesn't like Omega? I can see why he can't stand Joey Ryan, though. lol

There are probably 40 videos from Cornette alone that go into the same rant. I don't 100% disagree with him about Omega. Cornette frowns on Omega's matches years ago against the 9 year old, against the blow up doll, both in the DDT promotion I believe. Corny is just not a big fan of that kind of stuff. I also think part of it is his association with the Young Bucks. (his=Omega). Corny hates The Young Bucks for the way they don't sell shit and they're only like 140lbs. soaking wet hitting 40 superkicks and no selling shit left and right.

If you ask me though, I think it's more to do with that these wrestlers (sans Ryan) are actually really really good and he hasn't shit on their in-ring skill level but he won't acknowledge Omega as someone who is one of the best wrestlers in the world or the Bucks being a top tag-team mostly because they are this popular. I don't see how he can say a match like Davey Richards v. Tyler Black was our generation's Flair/Steamboat but he can't watch Omega v. Okada because Omega jobbed to a blow up doll or whatever.

So again, I see some of his complaints because I'm not really a fan of what I consider backyard wrestling type shit with a blow up doll or selling for a 9 year old little girl. I respect being negative toward that especially someone from the era Cornette came up in. But shit Melzter is older than him and Meltzer is way more progressive in accepting modern day wrestling.

Joey Ryan and Kenny Omega are both great. That's really all that needs to be said.

Ah, gotcha. Omega is clearly a good wrestler, so I was just wondering what he did to upset Cornette so much. Now I'm going to look up this match with the 9 year old girl!

Kenny Omega is great, Joey Ryan.....He's an average worker but I agree with a lot of people that his dick stuff and titty suplex aren't really necessary. Joey had a buzz going for him before all that shit, I guess this was just the natural evolution of his character to start using his dick as a weapon...

Yeah I mean....the way I see it is you're going to come at Omega THAT HARD you better make sure the wrestlers you have associated with and/or shit you've booked can't be referenced. Someone said "Corny, you had a fucking mummy in SMW" and his response was "Yeah but the guy playing the mummy could legit beat the fuck out of you" . Fair enough lol. But I mean, you won't hear Corny shit on Harley Race for being part of that expose on wrestling back in 1999 or whatever. Or the fact he does a podcast that is nothing but exposing the business on a weekly basis.....But I digress.
